Hi all , im lookig for some info on a android tv box I bought a few weeks back ! First of all I want to say im relatively new to this whole notion of rooting , firmware , flashing etc etc and to be honest from reading or viewing videos im all mixed up as to where to start first ?
This box is a android b351 box , R-box is what appears on start up !
first off I noticed that the box was telling me im not connected to the net even though I was .
I tried factory reseting it but it made no difference .
I bought the box to use xbmc on it but when I installed (xunitytalk) version it seems very buggy and crashes alot or films dont play very smoothly .
I have updated my connection to a fibre powered line thinking my speeds where not up to scratch but that wasn't it ..
So after researching a bit ive learned that the box needs 1 : rooting 2roper flash/firmware 3: updating the os to 4.4 kit kat as 99% of these devices are not properly set up to run xbmc ..
Another term ive heard is kernaling it ?? I now know these things need to be done first before a proper build of the unit can commence but I dont know where to start ?

Does anyone know of a way that will allow me to clone my android tv box and restore it to my other android tv box? Actually I have five total so it's obvious why I want to do this. They are all the exact same box. I want to set up one box and restore it to my other boxes. Do you have a way or know of a way? I just watched a root junky video of "How to pull your own stock Android firmware from your device " but, i believe I'd have to put twrp on each box. I want to avoid that. Thanks.

I cant find anything in internet except your thread, i wanted to root my airtel internet tv box also, it runs android marshmallow, have you tried finding using the codename ganesa? how did you find the codename ganesa?
From browsing system files using File Explorer, how to start tinkering with this device ?
Do we need to contact any specific Devs ?
My Airtel DTH subscription just ran out, and I have no intentions of renewing it (do most of my TV watching on the phone via JioTV). Unfortunately, without an active subscription the Airtel Internet TV box locks you out of not just the DTH part, but also the Internet part -- you cannot use it as a simple Android TV device.
So have been searching for ways to root the device and/ or bypass the subscription check. Any ideas? Hoping there is a way to wipe out Airtel customised OS and install a vanilla version of Android TV. Or even an Oreo port if that is possible.

You can do it using Es File Explorer. Go to Apps then Backup.

airtel smart box is just a box without subscription
The airtel internet tv is good till it has a active subscription. But once it's over its a stupid box which can't be used any where so any idea to make it work independently. Can we change its os so it becomes totally a smart box and not a setop box anymore as I don't have any intention to renew my subscription ever. So atleast the box will be useful for me.

I can help you with that...Can remove subscription check if code allows that. Please share.
To everyone who is stuck after the subscription is over can head over to this post.

i need this too. Now it is upgraded as Airtel XStream if someone can take it up i can install it in my android box
Any response on this? I recently got one upgraded as the old internet tv box went bad and stopped working... Would love to be able to remove subscription check on this new xstream box

I got this trick from a @Dhairy
Not very convenient but I have a way to enjoy apps without recharging DTH, Go to settings ---> apps ---> Airtel Xstream ---> Force Stop
Now, press back button and move back to apps list -----> Look for play store and open from the settings, to your surprise play store will open.
Now, search and install ATV Launcher (Or any launcher of your choice) -----> Open ATV Launcher from app store
Voila you can see all apps there and they would open normally.
Actually the check is done by their Launcher so if we could root and delete that launcher and install android tv home ( Google launcher for android Tv), then theoretically that would bypass the subscription check also.
Unfortunately, you have to force stop Airtel Xstream every time till then. Also I would recommend not to upgrade your box as they may fix this vulnerability and use some other method to check for subscription. Till then enjoy!

hello, i have a few android tv boxes here and want to use them for a signage app i have coded.
problem is, there are not many boxes that can load BIG gifs in a webview... most of them will crash ( tried a few mxq and mxq pro).
the x96 mini 2/16 can to it.
i already figured out how to root it (by this forum - special firmware image).
what i can not figure out is: how can i set it to portraitmode!
there are a few hints around the web, how it could be done on other android boxes...
none of them worked...
i really was not thinking, that this is such a pain in the XXX...
i have already set the ro.sf.hwrotation property... not working
i was searching for the settings.db in data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases... there is none...
has anybody another special rom in portraitmode or knows what to do?
i think the x96 mini is a very common one...
any ideas?
or any other box that can be switched easy to portrait?
has to be one with some performance.
i already orded myself a few minix neo x7.
i think this one should work.
but it is pretty much outdatet... i want some up to date hardware that i can order new...

I found some pages and the links are down or the files are corrupt and they are marked on the logo, not Android but the one that says "make your beautiful colors" or something similar. My motherboard specs are: Case plate or motherboard: Allwinner H3 H3Q44_v3.0 WIFI chips: SV6256P
