Android 11 Update for unlocked variants? - Samsung Galaxy A71 5G Questions & Answers

I saw that some variants (T-Mobile, Verizon) of the A71 5G have received the Android 11 update, so I was wondering if anyone has any clues on when the unlocked variant (specifically the SM-A716u1) will receive the update?

Thanks!

I would love to know this as well. Hoping it is coming soon!

AT&T locked 6.0.1?

Hello, I've just recently purchased an HTC One A9 from at&t and it came out of the box with Android 6.0. So, Does the at&t variant, which is locked, have 6.0.1, and I'm just not getting an update, or 6.0 for right now?
The latest from unlocked A9 is 6.0.1 with 2016-01-01 security patch level. Only the unlocked version get updates 15 days after Google release. Carrier version will depend on how quickly the carrier approve the update.

Nougat

When will we see a Nougat update for the Unlocked (SM-G930u) model?
Unfortunately with the quarterly update schedule of the g930u, I think it will be a good couple weeks, if not a month or two before we even see the nougat update. Samsung seems like they dropped the ball in supporting our unlocked US version.
Where can I find the info you based that off of?
thread from samsung forums about the g930u and its update cycle:

hope it helps!

Unable to update to Oreo

Hi,
I recently bought HTC U11 and have been using it with AT&T. U11 is an international unlocked version. Although most of the websites claim international versoin had gottent Oreo update, I do not see the update when check from the phone. What is the best way to update?
Thanks,
./Siva.

Ok. How can I say my phone is US unlocked or international? I believe mine is international, since I bought it from EBay, would be good know.
In settings, about, software information, software number.
Must be x.xx.401.xx to be eu worldwide edition.
617 is the US unlocked/dev edition.
I didn't realize there were 2 different versions of the unlocked phone. I bought mine used (practically new as the guy only used it a couple weeks) a couple weeks ago and as soon as I started setting it up I got the update to Oreo. After reading your post I checked my software version and it is indeed 617, so I have the US version (which is great considering I'm in the US lol).

Question S22 Ultra TMO to U1 April update

Hey guys! So it's now April 18 and I'm still on march patch, I converted my locked TMO S22U to U1 and haven't seen an update... I'm currently on firmware U1ACV8 is this current or am I going mad?!

That is the current update for the U1 firmware.
I know, there's no rhyme or reason to U1 & Carrier updates compared to the rest of the world.
My T-Mobile Note 20 Ultra (converted to U1 firmware) got the April patch last week.
Conventional wisdom is the newer models are 1st in line, but, again, that just doesn't apply to the North American market.

Thanks so much for the response! I was under assumption maybe converting broke updates
When using the U1 firmware, your carrier's CSC, automatically set by the SIM card, determines when you get the update. Having flashed the Verizon version to U1, I got the April update last week.

Does your security patch say march or April? Because if mine is current it still says march...

I'm on the U.S. Unlocked version using T-Mobile on a prepaid plan. Unlocked version is still March. Unlocked U.S. Version is always last in line and carriers get priority.

Question Anyone familiar with S908U1UEU2AVHF?

Hi.
My ultra is unlocked and I'm currently in Europe when this update option showed up. Should I allow it? I am just not sure if updates are based on location and it's going to mess things up when I get back to the USA.
Thanks
What firmware are you currently using?

Both have the same product code (USC), so, it appears it's just your usual monthly update.
It's USA firmware.......
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...M-S908U1/USC/download/S908U1UEU2AVG8/1664686/. (July 2022)
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...M-S908U1/USC/download/S908U1UEU2AVHF/1674713/. (August 2022)
Just curious......
You said this was unlocked, I'm guessing you mean SIM unlocked. Is this a carrier model (that's been SIM Unlocked) ?
