Galaxy Tab S4 unresponsive - General Questions and Answers

Hi I have a Samsung Galaxy tab s4 that is unresponsive it won't turn on or show that it is charging I have tried pressing and holding volume down and home to no avail however a couple days ago it did turn on and boot up for about 10-15 seconds and then turned right back off until last night when I pressed and held the power button amd once again it turned on for about the same time and will not turn back on does anyone know what the cause of this problem is?
Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Hard to say ... usual things to check:
Clean/dry USB connector
Try a different charger/cable
Think about what happened right before the issues started
If the device can not be charged and does not respond in any case, the battery might be defect ... just a guess.

If it did turn on those two times could that still be a battery issue and I have cleaned the charging port and the charger is very reliable.

How To Unbrick Nexus S? Need Urgent Help.

Dear Geeks,
I need your urgent help/advice. i'm three weeks far to my wedding and have a lot of troubles to handle, of course i need this phone.
let me describe the matter i have.
My nexus s is not booting, not starting, nothing.
what i did?
Last night, power button stopped working. I have experienced this 4-5 months ago. I don't know why, the problem has been solved by itself after few days later. i did nothing at those days. the power button came back. (as to my opinion, this is happening due to software problem) Anyway, i have used the market and installed ''fix power button'' application to use volume buttons for opening the screen.
I slept and when i woke up, i saw that phone needs to be charged but i waited. there was %11 something. i tried to handle the power button, pressed many times on it, thought that it may come back again same as 4-5 months ago it happened.
I removed battery and replaced again. i tried this many times. removed, replaced, used the usb cable via AC charger and phone started but there was no result. power button still was not working.
i thought that if the battery runs out, and then, when i charge the phone, maybe this matter may be solved. (ok this was stupid idea)
phone started to charge. when i plug the usb cable, phone was booting and displaying the google and animation and later it was ok to use.
meanwhile i keep on removing battery and replacing battery while the usb cable connected. but when phone starts to boot, i removed battery and replaced again. phone was ok, it was booting. few times it was booting.
but baaaam.
it is now not starting not booting, nothing.
now, when i replace the battery, phone is getting hot, especially sim-card area. i m removing the battery and connecting the usb. same again phone is getting hot, same sim-card area again.
i have waited enough not to connect the battery or usb charging cable. but no result.
what can i do now? what are your opinions?
my opinions/guess:
-i am using 3500 mah lithium polymere battery. maybe the battery died. i m using that battery more than 1 year, around 15 months. i dont turn off wi-fi so i m charging phone everyday.
- phone crashed during booting. and now the phone is totally brick.(i dont wanna believe this, this phone can be usable, believe me i feel it i think whatever happens, this phone can be usable via software installing or rooting... of course if you dont throw it towards a wall etc.)
by the way, my phone was not rooted. no time to root these days. and of course the phone was not starting.
what is your idea? what happened phone? what should i do?
if you reply, i will be appreciated.
A big advice for people reading this, dont remove the battery when your phone is booting.
I hope someone has a solution, since I have the same probelm...

dude, unfortunately those solutions not working on my device.
when i connect charger and i replace the battery, within seconds phone boots itself without power button. it should be this way. removing and replacing the battery helped me to start to boot.
i sense this case a bit different from that solutions.
i need to try with a different battery. my wife has nexus s also. she is very lucky she has no problems i have experienced so far. i will try with her battery.
i think there is a matter with mainboard.
by the way i forgot to say that i dropped my phone last evening. just after then phone was acting that i'm pressing long onto power button. and power button finally stopped working when i remove the battery.
i think this is happened because of dropping the phone from my belly high.
but the last thing i have done which removing the battery while the phone is booting, i wish, i should not have done. i could use it without the power button.

If you have not rooted your device, you should have you warranty, right? Take the phone back to the carrier, and tell them about your problem. o.o Sorry, I'm of no help, but you're in a horrible situation. Wanted to at least give a little help.
Same exact problem here.
2nd of August - mom's phone turned of and just would not boot or prompt at all. The modem heats up when power is turned on or connected.
Tried
The unbrickable methods (but the computer would not detect the device in any form)
A JTAG - I was able to write the recovery and bootloader - assembled the phone and it just won't boot or prompt
Need to try
Another battery to see if it solves the issue.
Removing the xOM5 resistor and converting to a development S5PC110
Tried another battery - no luck
Did the resistor removal and converted to a dev board - Unbrickable now detects the board!
trying to get the device into fastboot - will update

I had the same problem few months ago. Power button had died. While I was able to boot with remove battery and connect to charger option and I was rooted. But after a week I decided to take the phone to Samsung service center to get the power button replaced. My phone did not have warranty. Samsung took few hours to get the power button replaced and it costed me about $7. I think that's the easiest method. They did not have a stock of I9020 power button, so they fixed a I9023 power button.
Any update? I'm curious to see if you get it working. Had the same happen to my NS a few days ago and would like to see if I can get it going again so I can give it to my stepson.

I've given nexus s to samsung service. Actually, power button may be handled by replacing with new one, but with no hope, it will not come back when i read messages about mainboard failure. I will update news whenever it's possible.
we'll see.
I would like to hope it is kind of software matter.
Pls god give my nexus s back, i got extended 3500mah battery.
grrr....

So with the hardware mod - instead of selecting Nexus S -> I tied the Galaxy S in unbrickable - first time I've seen the screen alive! - puts the phone into download mode and I can disconnect from the usb and it stays in download mode! .. when i tried to flash odin I get a "There is no PIT partition" error -> this ofcourse is with re-partition and bootloader update UNCHECKED
When I tried Heimdall it wouldnt let me flash without a pit file. So trying Heimdall 1.1.1 - I get Failed to Access device Error: -3
Any chance some one with an i9020T can do me a huge favor? Use Heimdall 1.3.2 - download your PIT file and upload it here?
reaching for string ends out here :/

The power button had to be replaced. I shorted the connection when ever I had to press the power button during the boot sequence. That's how I fixed mine.

unable to turn on my One XL

Hi,
i have very strange issue which i noticed right now. It seems that i can not turn on my mobile/screen. I have to say that mobile is bought less then month ago and no modifications are made like rooting or something like that. Today it worked without any problems and when i got home i left it on my desk but two hours later i wanted to check for my e mail but screen/mobile is not turning on. I checked on/off button and it's not jammed. What else can i do considering that i can not remove the battery

Charge the phone. Could be dead. Are you SURE nothing has been modified? Also, hold down the power button until you see the capacitive buttons flashing, and don't let go until they stop flashing and the phone reboots.
Battery probably died. This phone is known to lose power abruptly. It's happened to nearly everyone at some point--it will appear to have some charge left and then suddenly drop to 0%.
Just leave it plugged in for a while and see if it revives.
nothing helped from what you mentioned but it works now. When i plugged in the charger there was no sign of charging. When i pressed and hold power button also nothing happened. Then i tried to hold volume down and power button but also no reaction from the phone and then i pressed the mobile bit harder around display to check that maybe there is no loose wire and at this point mobile turned on by itself (boot screen) and after booting there was crash report. I have HTC phones for years now and such problem never occurred to me before but phone works for now :good:
thank you
Hopefully it isn't a defect, my one x has never went off on me at a random battery percentage, except for some ROMs he he
As mentioned, some people have had instances of randomly losing charge, or phone not seeming to take a charge after running the battery down. Leaving the phone on the wall charger (not USB, which takes much longer) for several hours (overnight) and then trying to power on seems to solve the problem. One guy here could not get any response (even after charging for hours) except by holding the power button while the phone was on the charger.
The issue seems completely random. So unless it persists, probably nothing to worry about.

Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 won't boot/charge/turn on

I live with a friend and they just showed me that they have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 that won't boot, turn on, or charge. When pressing the power button the screen flickers black for a second then turns off. Here's what i've tried.
Power Button + Vol Down
Power Button + Vol Up
Power Button + Finger on Screen
Remove back panel and detached battery for 15-30 mins
Tried all of above on and off charger
Tried letting sit for days charging
Still same results. The tablet never got wet/dropped. Just randomly happened one day they unplugged it from charging in the morning :/
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
EDIT: This is a Verizon LTE Galaxy Tab 2 7.0

Too late for you, but for others with this issue...
I was having this problem for a few days, removing my micro sd card somehow magically fixed it. Think it was trying to boot from the sd card.
Leaving mine in download mode for till the battery died is what caused my tablet to do nothing. I didn't have all the files ready and my setup was crap.

The battery certainly s$%^s on the tab2 but i had a very similar problem which turned out to be the usb/charger/interface cable. when plugged in it appeared that it was charging but the level never increased. after replacing the cable it began showing an increase. it still takes a painfully long time to charge. hope you get it working, its a pretty good tablet when it works :good:
Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Won't boot, charge or turn on
I realize this is a late comment on the above thread but I just experienced the same problem with my Tab 2 10.1. I took a close look at both the usb cable and the female receptacle on the tablet and found some very small pieces of trash on both of them. I took a dental pick and very carefully cleaned the receptacle and then used some "canned air" to blow out the trash and I am now back in business. Maybe it will not work for everyone but did the trick for me. Good luck.

Xoom locked up completely

Hi
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
Basically my xoom seems to be suffering from a problem that quite a few people seem to have had. It locked itself one day when it hadn't been used for a couple of minutes and that was it. Tried the holding of power button + up put it on charge and left it with the green light on for 3 hours still nothing.
tried disconnecting the battery and left it disconnected for a day to see if that worked- Nope
tried a new battery - nope
Tried new top part of case with power switch and volume buttons - nothing
As a last resort I bought a factory reset cable - plugged in and plugged into charger as well and after holding the vol up+down for 20 seconds and then holding the power with them it suddenly sprang to life.............
Now its working fine while all plugged in but the moment I pull the usb cable out its off.
So is this pointing to the battery? ( I have replaced it but its not a Motorola original)
Could it be a charging problem, Although its showing as charging (I haven't pulled the cable yet when fully charged as its still charging but it was at 61%)
or is this something else.
Thanks for any help that anyone can give me
Sorry to hear of your problem, but you may get more responses if you specify which model you have.

lol I spent so much time trying to make sure I remembered everything tried that I forgot the basc info
Its a mz604 wifi only UK xoom
Fingers crossed someone might have an idea?
OK, I may have had some success!
I managed to get it booted up again on the cable and did a battery re-calibration. Pulled the cable out and it powered off again straight away but.................... When I pressed the power button it has booted up and seems to be running fine again.
I'm going to run the battery fully down and then see what happens after a charge so fingers crossed may be good news.
series hoping

The battery re-calibration is only an Android OS issue, and shouldnt be doing anything like this. It gets reset every time you unplug your device from being fully charged.
This almost sounds like a defective battery or a loose battery connection inside. Its possible that unplugging and plugging the battery back in fixed the issue.
Best of luck to getting your tablet back up and running.

[Completed] LG G2 No power...Constantly Vibrating

Hey everyone 2 weeks ago I was using my lg g2 verizon model running android 5.0.1 lollipop and it felt from my bedside. Note this is not her first time the phone had fallen. I have a tpu case on it and it usually fears very well against occasional drops. That fateful night however the phone fell and when i picked it up it went blank and was switched off. I tried to power it on by pressing the power button but the phone just vibrated continuously on a second by second basis ( literally counting mississippis). I then tried to plug the phone into my wall outlet to force a boot but it just vibrated too.
Later that week i opened it up removed and reattached the battery cable and IT CAME ON!! Two short days after i rebooted the device for a new app but then it didnt power on. The same problem occured. I tried my fix again and after a couple of tries it finally worked. A week later and forgetting my phone problems i restarted ny phone again only to find out that the problem had returned. After trying my quick fix over and over again, nothing seemed to work so i decided to try troubleshooting the device myself. My results have left me baffled.
Ok so before you guys start shouting out solutions, heres what did and found ;
1) Tried a new battery and the phone still vibrated.
2) Unplugged the battery from the motherboard and plugged in my charger and the phone still vibrated. Lead me to believe that its not a battery problem.
3) Removed all un-neccessary components from the phone ( camera, screen, mic, antennas, etc...) the phone still vibrated.
4) Removed the power button module from the phone and it still vibrated when the charger was plugged in.
Note: I disconnected the vibrator behind then motherboard and held the phone to my ear while I plugged it in to my wall outlet. I could hear a faint clicking sound in a cycle.
Im completely lost sorry for the long thread but if anyone can offer some advice please help me i have no money to buy a new phone atm #life
Thank you in advance xD

Hi and thank you for using XDA Assist
Unfortunally for your phone this is indeed an hardware problem and i doubt it may be a software one...
If you didn't "worked" on the device from the software side i think the better way is to take it to an assistance shop or something like that in order to fix your vibration problem.
But for futher assistance i suggest you to ask overe here: Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Or here:
G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
