Hi
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
Basically my xoom seems to be suffering from a problem that quite a few people seem to have had. It locked itself one day when it hadn't been used for a couple of minutes and that was it. Tried the holding of power button + up put it on charge and left it with the green light on for 3 hours still nothing.
tried disconnecting the battery and left it disconnected for a day to see if that worked- Nope
tried a new battery - nope
Tried new top part of case with power switch and volume buttons - nothing
As a last resort I bought a factory reset cable - plugged in and plugged into charger as well and after holding the vol up+down for 20 seconds and then holding the power with them it suddenly sprang to life.............
Now its working fine while all plugged in but the moment I pull the usb cable out its off.
So is this pointing to the battery? ( I have replaced it but its not a Motorola original)
Could it be a charging problem, Although its showing as charging (I haven't pulled the cable yet when fully charged as its still charging but it was at 61%)
or is this something else.
Thanks for any help that anyone can give me
Sorry to hear of your problem, but you may get more responses if you specify which model you have.

lol I spent so much time trying to make sure I remembered everything tried that I forgot the basc info
Its a mz604 wifi only UK xoom
Fingers crossed someone might have an idea?
OK, I may have had some success!
I managed to get it booted up again on the cable and did a battery re-calibration. Pulled the cable out and it powered off again straight away but.................... When I pressed the power button it has booted up and seems to be running fine again.
I'm going to run the battery fully down and then see what happens after a charge so fingers crossed may be good news.
series hoping

The battery re-calibration is only an Android OS issue, and shouldnt be doing anything like this. It gets reset every time you unplug your device from being fully charged.
This almost sounds like a defective battery or a loose battery connection inside. Its possible that unplugging and plugging the battery back in fixed the issue.
Best of luck to getting your tablet back up and running.

Hi all,
So my transformer is bricked... completely been trying hard reboot, APX mode, holding power button, HDMI output the list goes on.
My only final resort is what I've read is draining the battery down and trying to recharge it? (Just need some confirmation here please if possible).
I've kept it in the dock, what I've noticed is, in the morning it was green LED now its gone to the amber so something is draining the battery I"m hoping I can get this down to 0.
How long do you guys think with both dock + pad and most likely on standby. Not too sure of the issue here
Anyway, I'm really reluctant to send this back to Asus RMA because in short:
1. First time I sent it, it got returned like a squeaky box. Every where you held it you heard a creak like it was about to snap. They didn't fix some things, and more dust ended up in my camera lens... + had to pay postage..
2. Half fixed, came back with wrong firmware (TW --> US). Could never update ever again, so microsd card updates FTW. No way was I planning on spending an extra month sending my TF back and forth... I paid extra to get the first batch B40 lol.. They replaced everything inside my TF motherboard, screen, Inside LED!?, buttons. Close to the works..
This happened right after I upgraded to ICS, it was the US stock rom booted up fine. my apps were updating, and as everyone else was saying about how some apps caused ICS to slow down I wasn't aware so I thought I would shut it down and power it back up. Since then it's not been able to come up ever again... Any suggestions?
What do you think?
Thanks in advanced.
One other thing, could someone check.. when tablet is docked and OFF. Do the usb ports still work?
Right now, when docked but "bricked" I can still charge my phone via USB.. If someone could test this that would be much appreciated as that could at least eliminate that my TF's battery is dead, right?
get it off the dock, hold volup+pwr, count to six and leave it for a couple of days. You can test if it's empty when you plug it in your pc via the cable. If you get the device plugged sound it means there's still juice there - unplug and press again volup+pwr. when you unplug it from the pc the tab shuts itself down.
if you don't volup+pwr before you plug in the usb it won't turn itself on. but it turns off automatically at unplug, as I said.
after the battery is down, plug the tab to the charger. I don't have the dock so I can only speak about the tab itself. Don't know why, but it works for me everytime. Hope it fixes yours, then, if possible, root and flash something.

Hi there,
Thanks, I'll that a try.
It's definitely charging and discharging, the battery brick is warm.. I've never had to connect my tablet to a windows PC. Today I did, it didn't make a sound.. Do I need to fully charge to be able to turn it on?
Normally not. I plug mine to the charger, I don't remember if it stats or I have to press power, when it boots the battery stays at 0% for several minutes.
Sorry for the late reply, did you manage to wake it? It's a long procedure of waiting mainly and can get annoying.
I'm still trying, earlier you had a thread about it poping up through the computer. What was the command you used in Linux?
Windows gives me nothign even when there was power in it.
Thanks.
Thank you sooo much!! It finally has powered back on, I hope this doesn't happen again.
So there is another thread sort of like this a bit below this one, but it's not quite the same situation, so I figured I'd make my own thread. My gf's tf101 has been working fine for the last couple of months, and then a couple of days ago, she found that as soon as she unplugged the tablet, it would shut off instantly. Once it's plugged back into the charger, it will boot and work fine. But, it will only work at all when plugged into the charger. When removed, no matter how long you hold the power button down, it won't turn on. I tried plugging it into the computer, and when I press the power button, it will flash the boot screen for about half a second, and then dies again. Keeps doing that, and will not stay on. Any suggestions, before an RMA? Anything to try?
Thanks.
What is the battery level showing when it is plugged in and on? Also check it with the Dual Battery Widget to see what that reports for battery charge/
I would back up all the data and apps, back up any important files and try a factory data reset. If that does not help, I would send it in for repair.
Ok, I was thinking about trying a factory reset next. The tablet shows 99% battery life left.
My Asus Transformer on ICS was rooted and fine. Then after the latest update the other day, I noticed yesterday that I lost root. Then today I powered it off and now it won't turn back on at all. Connecting it to the dock shows no sign of life. Plugging it in on it's own to both a PC and wall outlet and still no signs of life. ADB doesn't detect it. Windows doesn't detect it. Holding down the power button forever doesn't do anything. Power button and volume down doesn't do anything.
Do I have any other option other than sending it for repair/warranty? I've tried searching on here and Google and everything just says to boot into recovery. But that's not doing anything for me.
Please help.
Thanks.

It may have gotten "undercharged". When that happens it will take forever to show signs of life after its plugged in. Try leaving it plugged into the wall outlet overnight and see if it fixes it.

I was thinking the same thing. My Nook Tablet recently had this happen and I thought the thing was completely toast. I figured I'd give it one last shot and just plug it in for a while and like a 1/2 hour later, it suddenly woke up.
Hope the situation works out the same for you OP.
I've had it plugged in overnight and still nothing at all.
Now thinking about it, the reason it was shut it off (by my wife) was because it was glitching. It was playing music in the background from a game that wouldn't shut down. I'm guessing it was stuck in memory or something. So I'm wondering if this game or whatever is still somehow running and the device isn't actually completely shut down. I'm gonna do the opposite and leave it unplugged for the day. Let the battery completely deplete, hopefully shutting down fully and killing that process. Worth a shot.
try pressing power and vol down for like 30 seconds. Another thing I've seen people do is try plugging it in and holding power for 30 seconds. Also try plugging into computer totrickle charge for a bit. Hope any of this helps.

Tried those already with no luck, but thanks for the suggestion.
I've tried holding the power button for minutes at a time too. Power and volume down for minutes at a time. Plugged in and not plugged in. With and without memory card in while plugged in and not plugged in.
Update: I think there is some merit to my theory. Left it unplugged for a full day and then plugged it in and after a few tries it BOOTED! Working just fine ever since too and the strange thing is, the battery barely depleted at all.
So something was possibly running that was preventing it from fully shutting down? I don't know. Strange.
Had the same issue over the weekend
I wish I had seen your post prior to calling ASUS for support, I went through all the troubleshooting steps you suggested, had no luck. I did not wait long enough to let the battery fully discharge to see if that fixed it and my TF 101 is now on route to TX for warranty repair (I am hoping that I now may end up with a tablet with a few more of the issues ironed out also). But if not, but the time I get it back I will probably flash it with a custom ROM (probably Revolver), that may be out of Beta by that time.
We shall see.
Its not Really a problem as the phone runs fine, but i was wondering if anyone else has seen this, it happens on every rom i have put in since root and downgrade, if i power it off it reboots normally
Also if i Pull the battery and put it back it Auto powers on

Is your power button maybe recessed or stuck? Could be causing it.
You can follow me on Twitter - @NotSo1nter3stin
If it means aything it feels fine and passes CWM button test just fine.. It still has that slight click to it
EDIT: Ok upon checking again, as i haven't actually tried in a while it dosen't straight reboot, it reboots to recovery/CWM, the only reason i want ti to power down it to do a full charge on the battery, now i have been told this is frivolous but hey my battery is old, got the Shift when it first came out and it still last two plus days on a charge

You get two days out of an original battery . I would be very happy about that. If what your saying is that when you power down, and then plug it in to charge it reboots into Recovery. Then that is normal, it happens a lot on rooted devices ( not all but a good portion ). As for your device just rebooting as soon as you stick the battery back in. I'm going to have to agree with notso on this and say something is wrong with your Power button. It should not be doing that. I had that happen on a Shift that had been dropped. Turned out the Power button was damaged. It was stuck half in. Which caused a bunch of weird things.
Well then I guess I cant complain, but yes I get more then 48 hours from a charge, I charge it over night every other night and try to deep charge it once a month, seeing as i cant use mine to do it I use my wifes, my Full charges consist of Complete discharge, Charge to 100%, power down and leave on charger for 1 hour, then power back up and leave on charge for another hour once in a while during the Full cycle clear bat stats

I am able to get 2 days out of the the 2000mah or the original battery with drob's latest kernel.
Actually, a brand new factory battery seems to hold up better than the 2000mah batteries we got.
It's a htc charging while off issue if it powers itself into recovery once your phone shuts off. You'll need to talk to koush about it because the older recoveries can power while off but the newer ones can't because the older method no longer works on the newer recovery source code.

Something really strange happened.
Yesterday, when i was using my tf700, everything was fine. i connected the tf700 to my computer and dragged couple movies in to watch later. Batter was around 30% so i plugged into a wall charge to charge so i can use later. after half an hour, went back and tried using it. it won't turn on! tried connecting it to my computer, my computer can't recognize it. Tried connecting to the wall charge, the charge light didn't turn orange. Tried using my tf300 cable to see if it's cable issue, still no luck. Tried using reset button on top of HDMI port, no luck. Tried volume down or volume up plus power to reboot, no luck. I think it's dead....Only had it for a year..
Worst of all, it's unlocked, rooted to a custom ROM. So no warranty. I tried googling and searching on XDA, not that many people encountered this issue. Any luck on saving it?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!!!

It looks like your battery on your device totally drain and either your charger or cable or your tab connector is bad so your device can't be charged. If you can narrow down the issue, then you can get helps faster.. Good luck...:fingers-crossed:

Thanks LetMeKnow for the quick response. I'm pretty sure it's not the cable or the charger because i tested with my TF300 cable and charger. But how can i tell if it's the connector?
Thanks!
Mine did the exact same thing. It is just completely dead. I'm totally at a loss as to what to do. Anyone know of a way to force this thing to wake up?

Same issue here. Just charged mine up(yes it charges), but it will not turn on. It had been sitting for a while so I assumed it just needed a charge. Fully charged until light went green. Tablet will not do anything.

You could give this a shot...
Hold both power button + volume up for about 10 seconds. You should feel a first vibration and continue holding them until you feel the second vibration. As soon as you feel the second vibration, you need to release the volume up button and keep holding the power button until you feel the third vibration and release the power button.. At this point, your device should boot into your system..
You may want to try a few times for it to work..good luck and please report back..:fingers-crossed:

Yeah I've tried that and the reset button, but get no vibrations. I guess I'll wait for the battery to full discharge again and then see if it will work. Otherwise I guess I'm SOL. No idea what happened.
I tried letting it sit unplugged for a couple of days to completely discharge the battery and then plugged it in to let it charge. No lights, no vibrations• nothing. I'm giving up ans just ordered a Samsung Note Tablet 10.1 2014 Edition, 32GB. When I get it I'll root it so I can use Titanium Backup to restore my data files. I never planned on this tablet just dying like this. It's only a little over a year old. I was thinking of upgrading to Asus's new TF701 but I'm done with them.
Good luck with yours. Hope it springs to life for you.

This is by far the worst Asus experience i ever had. I used to buy their products quite a bit, and i am completely disappointed in their products now. They create a tablet so slow that is almost usable so many users to need unlock and install custom ROMs. Therefore, void the warranty. Then provide such bad quality that it fails not even after 1 full year. (1 week till a year) Then is going to charge me $300 to have them fix it. I can buy a new one for that price.
Anybody out there as frustrated with Asus products as I am?
