OP 8 TMO Warranty Return Sim Locked - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

So I sent in my TMO OP 8 for warranty service where they replaced the motherboard of the phone in turn changing the devices IMEI, well they returned it SIM locked and with a locked bootloader. So when I contacted TMO to perform a new SIM unlock, the device is not in their system because it came from OnePlus, not from them.... any suggestions?

Contact T-Mobile Support/T-Force on Twitter or FB Messenger and they'll escalate it for you.

[Q] AT&T Note Pro 12.2 SM-P907A Sim Unlock Unsuccessful

I sent in my note in for warranty repair due to blue screen freezes. They replaced the main board and reflashed the software. The tablet was previously unlocked and I was using it on T-Mobile. The tablet was sim locked when I received it from the service center. I went through the process of getting an unlock code from AT&T. The imei that I sent in to them is correct but the code didn't unlock the tablet. I recieved a network unlock request unsuccessful response. As a last resort, I went to Cellunlocker and for a fee they provided me with more codes but the unlock code was the same as AT&T. All of the code entering attempts resulted in an unsuccessful response. Has anyone had recent experience such as this? I ended up purchasing a gophone sim card and activated prepaid service for 1 month and the tablet has service with gophone (AT&T). This means that the tablet can get service but unfortunately my problem is network unlocking it.
Same problem
Hello my friend ! I have the same problem as you. I send my P907a repair, they changed the motherboard and locked out the GSM network. I bought unlock codes and no works, it is the same IMEI and as often happens to be the same code.
I do not know if there is a way to unlock GSM network, but whatever I have to do I will, for example change the IMEI. Someone who can help us? Anything is welcome. Best regards

Please someone answer. AT & T no longer supports this pileup, no OS updates, no Roms, nothing ... we are in limbo.

I had a horrible nightmare when I got mine with att. there's something in their system that prevents any new device even if its off contract from being unlocked for 60 days. many reps do not know about this. you might have to wait 61 days and then attempt to unlock like I did. I know it's just a new board but the system doesn't know that. I bit the bullet and got a month to month plan for 2 months. luckily I kept calling in throughout the 60 days trying to solve the problem. so finally on the 61 I explain to the rep what was going on and they refunded my money for the previous two months.
will the unlock code unlock the bootloader too ?

sadly its just a Sim unlock not Bootloader
Is there any way one can contact at&t and pay for them to unlock the bootloader? By now all contracts related to this tablet and warrenty are long gone, i don't think they have anything to loose to unlock it for us, even against a fee

SIM Unlock T-Mobile LG G5

Hello All,
Any recommendations to a website that will Sim Unlock my T-Mobile device to use it on international GSM?
Thanks
Are you currently a T-Mobile customer or no? If so you should be able to get them to unlock it for you. If not I don't know the answer.
Ebay and other unlocking sites offer the T-Mobile app unlock up for sale, anywhere between 25-50 bucks or so.
There is an app on there to check if you are eligible for unlock.
Traditionally, you could call T-Mo's Customer Care and request an unlock. They have been generally pretty lenient on letting people unlock (especially for long time customers).
However, seeing as there is this unlock app built in to the phone that has a temporary unlock option, you may only get authorized to use that until your phone is paid off or something to that extent.
It is definitely worth a call.

Bought my wife's G5 from T-Mobile Online. Called to request to have it unlocked and they told me they have a 40 day waiting period then I can have it unlocked. They waived it immediately once I told them I was in the military and currently stationed overseas. Took about 6hrs to receive the unlock information.

Congrats. You saved the 40 days waiting. My case was different, after i purchased mine on ebay, i found out that the IMEI is blacklisted (outstanding balance), so i had to go to third party services.

Well, that sucks. I'll always buy from Swappa since I bought my LG v10 from there. Also remember, if you're buying a phone from someone, to ask for the IMEI to verify with the carrier that it isn't blacklisted. You probably actually paid the person enough so they can fix themselves.

Well, the issue was solved with 45$ I was in a hurry to buy it because the price was attractive and swappa had much higher prices. Well next time, for sure more investigation must be done before buying.
I dont mean to hijack this thread but it's exactly my problem. I have at&t in Iowa (pretty much no tmobile presence here) bought a brand new g5 off ebay wasnt paying attention to the fact that it was locked to tmobile. I did try a site that charges 30 something bucks to get it unlocked and they emailed be back the next day saying they couldnt do it. I checked the eimi or whatever on swappa, says its clean. I saw somewhere that the best way to get the unlock code is to order a prepaid sim and load some money on it and wait 2 weeks and then request the unlock code? I went to tmobile's website and got halfway through the prepaid sim screens but when i put the eimi number in it comes back with nothing, i am assuming thats because the phone has never been activated anywhere before? Appreciate the help, I dont want to pile more dumb on top of dumb...
I need help unlocking my LG g5. I bought it online through eBay from someone that works at LG.
The phone came sealed, I ordered a unlock code, but I discovered as soon as I turned it on that now I need to unlock through t-mobile device unlock app.
The site I ordered my code said they would change my status on the t-mobile database so I can unlock the device through the app.
I Googled around and that should have worked. But apparently my IMEI is not registered t-mobile.
I bought a prepaid Sim and put it on the phone. It's working at t-mobile but its still not at their database (the IMEI).
What should I do?
Is there any way to force the IMEI to t-mobile database so it can be unlocked through the third party?
Or is there any other way to unlock it.
Please help...

Did you try the permanent lock option on the t-mobile unlock app? What message did you get then?
So far I tried 2 different services and requested unlock code but none of them worked, they simply didn't get back to me with any results.
Can someone suggest one that actually worked for them please and PM me?
Thanks guys.

It says:
Unlock Failed: This mobile device is eligible for unlock. For device unlock eligibility details, please go online or contact Customer Support.
And even if I go online, to T-Mobile IMEI check website, it says my IMEI is not recognized at T-Mobile.
Thats the problem.
Although I'm using it at T-Mobile, and it is a T-Mobile branded phone.
And because it's not at the database, I can't do ANYTHING to try to unlock it through third parties.

Maybe it has been bought on contract and must have been activated first so that IMEI would be registered at T-Mobile.
Mine was blacklisted and i unlocked it. It shouldn't be a big deal for yours.
I would suggest drop T_mobile a visit or call, and check with them what is wrong.
Logically, if the IMEI is not on their database then it shouldn't be carrier locked.
I will drop you a PM for a contact that might help you in this issue.

Wrong my friend. If the phone is on TMO but IMEI is not in theit database that means phone wasn't activated on TMO network, which means you're not gonna be able to unlock it through official unlock app.
I wonder if this phone unlockeble at all without using that unlock app.

I am activated on TMO network, since I'm using the phone at tmobile.
I just discovered that for some weird reason my IMEI was wrong at tmobile.
I hope this is the reason.

Noway get it unlocked without using the app. That is why unlocking service is starting from 30$ up to 45$. After i got confirmation from my unlock provider, i run the app, permanent unlock, and then unlock successfull reboot phone.

Unlock T-mobile branded S8+ bought directly from Samsung

I've contacted T-Mobile directly, and they said that they do not have the ability to do so because I did not purchase the device directly from them, even though it is a T-Mobile branded device. The representative also contacted Samsung with me on the phone, Samsung specifically stated that the device can be unlock, and the carrier does it. Doesn't make any sense to me that they can't unlock it when they have my phone's IMEI in their database, and they can recognize it. To top that off, the device is paid in full, not financed. Anyway, got this escalated to the manual unlock team, but was told there's no guarantees. Will see how that goes.
Have anyone gotten their T-Mobile branded device bought directly from Samsung unlocked? Or anyone got their carrier branded device bought from Samsung unlocked?
I been trying to find a sim I can try to see if mine is unlocked but seems like everyone I know is on TMobile hahaha I bought mine thru Samsung as well paid in full I will try going to a att see if they have a sim I can try
If everything is the same, then the device should be locked. Just tried an ATT sim on my T-Mobile device, and that doesn't work.
Exact situation I went through with AT&T. They also first told me they couldn't unlock it cuz I didn't buy directly from them, however, after a few escalations to support I finally got someone that understood and I had the unlock code before the phone call ended. Just keep trying.
The escalation of my case to the unlock team resulted in receiving an automated email telling me to use the unlock app when I explicitly mentioned that method does not work..... Sigh... The incompetence of these people. Contacting them on twitter now, we'll see the results of that.
In the meantime, what's everyone's experience so far trying to get their carrier branded device unlocked?
Same issues with my s8... Samsung says T-Mobile will should be able to unlock it...and T-Mobile says it is not an eligible phone since not purchased through T-Mobile. Any other suggestions how i can unlock my phone?

Have you been able to get your phone unlocked? I'm in the same situation right now
How in the hell can they not unlock a device that is BRANDED by T-Mobile and PAID OFF with T-Mobile? I would of returned the device (if within the return period) and Bought an Exynos Variant. I have an Exynos S8+ on AT&T here in the US and I haven't had any issues with carrier compatibility.

Verizon bootloader?

I asked Verizon and they deleted my question. If I payed off my Verizon Pixel the device belongs to me so under some law they should legally be held to unlock my bootloader. Do they if the device is paid off?
There is no such law and they will not unlock your bootloader.
Kinda funny
That's funny because I found the law on the Verizon website community.verizonwireless.com/thread/778109

No you didn't. You found a law about SIM locking, not bootloader locking. The phone is already SIM unlocked.

And don't forget that this is YOUR problem for buying a phone thru verizon
Before the google pixel went on sale it was publically known and confirmed that verizons version of the pixel would be bootloader locked and was posted, blogged, ridiculed at just about every tech site on the web, you have no one to blame but yourself
I love reading posts like this, I almost have to change my shorts from the entertainment.

So I chatted with Google about this rumors of people trading thier Verizon phone for refurbished Google store versions. This not true do not waste your time. Google refused to send me a different device, stated " if you want to send us your Verizon model for replacement it will be replaced with a Verizon model." Google said if I have Verizon deactivate the phone on the network ie: turn an old phone back on during this process as to keep your Verizon account. Once deactivated phone will be carrier unlocked (phone must be paid off) then when you insert a sim card from another carrier it will make available OEM unlock in developer settings!! Then you can install twrp and reinsert Verizon sim and poof you have unlock bootloader, custom recovery/root. Can anyone please confirm this works. I cannot as my phone is not paid off and Verizon will not deactivate it from there network.

Nonsense. The only way to get your Verizon device to oem unlock is to sell it and buy a Google phone. I don't know how many different ways to say this.

[Q] Getting Verizon to Unlock my Bootloader

With having my Pixel purchased through Verizon, and being paid off, how can i get them to unlock my bootloader??
Will not happen sorry!
The only thing Verizon will do is unlock a phone from the carrier... Since this is already carrier unlocked even if purchased thru Verizon they won't do anything for you... Only known way to unlock a vzw locked bootloader was when it was first released and I doubt anyone is still trying to figure it out for new updates
I sort of went down this road. First I chatted with Google who said that only Verizon could unlock the phone (phone's bootloader).
I then called Verizon and said that Google said only they could unlock the bootloader. Verizon said that they couldn't do it because it would void the warranty. I said "GREAT! I want to forfeit my warranty. I'll put it in writing." Then Verizon says that the phone has a google warranty as well and that they can't do it because it void's Google's warranty.
Back on the phone with Google. Google says that unlocking the bootloader will not void any warranty. That is actually how they sell their own phones (I knew this already). Google offered to write a support ticket saying they can't unlock the bootloader and to recommend that I contact Verizon to have it unlocked. They explicitly said the warranty would still be covered. I attached part of their reply below. If you think you could use it, I can get the full reply except for my IMEI number and you can try to pursue something from Verizon.
Verizon said they couldn't do it. I stopped pursuing it.
