Rooted android. Recording a call programmatically - General Questions and Answers

Hello, everyone.
I am a new Android developer and I need to record calls in my application.
I know that's almost impossible on Android 8,9,10,11.
My phones are Lenovo Vibe P1m (native Android is 5.1) and Lenovo moto g5s plus (Android 8.1). Actually, I tried some Android 7 ROMS from this site in order to record calls but unfortunately unsuccessfully.
I heard that the rooting of a phone could help.
Could you suggest any tool, utility, library etc in order to allow call recording for my custom application?
Thanks in advance,
Andrii.

[Q] [Discussion] iPhone running Android possible?

Hi, I was just browsing through YouTube and came across a very old video about the [meanwhile dead] iDroid-Project which made it possible to install Android as a Dual-Boot-Option on an iPhone 2G/3G. The group of the devs which was working on it didn't got along with each other anymore after some time, Apple fixed the security holes which made this possible and the project died off. I was just wondering if such a project would still be possible on newer (jailbroken) iPhones if somebody would discover the necessary exploits What are your thoughts about this? :good:

[Completed] help me with easycap viewer

hello,
i bought the easycap viewer android application,
and installed it on my devices
The easycap viewer needs an easycap frame grabber , connected via usb to the device and connected to a camera (via bnc or s-video or rca connector)
the devices i have are these:
- Acer iconia tab a500 (tegra 2 , android 4.03)
- Created N7 (china phablet, mt6592, android 4.4.2)
- Xiaomi m2s (qualcomm snapdragon, miui v5)
The application does work flawlessly with the Xiaomi m2s,
instead:
on the Acer, when i start the app, the screen become black, and the app is not responding
on the Created N7,, the appl starts , but when i connect the camera, i cannot see the video coming from the camera
I dont understand why on these devices the app does not work,
and need help to understand what is the cause of the problem.
The app includes an option to send log report to the developer
(autodroid), i sent it, but autodroid told me to try with a powered hub, but this did not help...now they are working on other project, so they told me they cannot help
Could you please help me to find the cause of the problems?
By the way, on the Acer i cannot send the report, because the appl is not responding:
so i enabled the logcat, and i was able to see in it that the appl is hanging when it tries to load the streaming library...
Could yoy help me?
I can send you all the data you need to debug the appl..
or, if not possible to fix it, could you suggest me an alternative frame grabber application/usb dongle that can work with my devices?
Thank you!!
Lodovico
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist Not all apps are universally compatible So apps support only certain set of devices whose Specifications match with application and hence for your devices its not supporting
Thank you
I know that sometime, with some simple fix to an application, it can work for a broader range of devices...
Or, sometimes, the issue can be solved with an upgrade to the os of the device ... (for example, i could try to upgrade my Acer A500 to the 4.4 Omnirom and see what happens...)
Perhaps the developer has stopped working on this application, but with some simple fix it could work also with my devices
Are you sure that this is not the case?
By the way, i faced a problem like this with an other application, the IrDroid, (available for free on the Play Store)
It didn't work with my Sony tv, but then i was able to find the sources (it was open source), debug them ( i installed the SDK on my pc), do a simple fix, compile them, and get an IrDroid app that now works also with my Sony tv , flawlessly...
The easycap is not open source, but i found some russian language forums, where there is an active thread about the easycap application, and applications like it (example... carcam) ...perhaps there some program sources are available...
Any suggestion?
Thanks!

How to install a windows phone OS in a Moto G

Hi guys,
I have just been wondering whether we can install any Windows phone OS in our Moto G ?
I want to know that despite the Moto G android OS , If the OS is removed is the phone ready to accept any OS systems ? I just want to know if we can use the Moto G snapdragons power for programming any arduino's or create any sensors which can be supported through the Mini USB port given in MOTO G , suppose i want to add a Gas sensor which detects the compositions of the Gas , I want to do this through the usb and decode the data in phone it self as it has a great microprocessor . is it possible ?
Pity my Ignorance
Since Microsoft does not offer Windows OS for non-Windows phones, you can't install it. Even if you could find a way to install it, it would be missing drivers and would not work at all.
You can write your own apps if you know how to write software. Such software could also use external hardware if you have appropriate drivers.
Windows 10 is available for the Xiaomi Mi 4 (Android Phone):
http://www.xda-developers.com/windows-10-is-officially-available-for-xiaomi-mi-4/
It was a collaborative effort between Microsoft and Xiaomi, however that phone uses a Snapdragon 801 SOC. If Windows 10 was developed for phones using Snapdragon 400 (like Moto G) - then the chances of seeing a port improve. Maybe if skilled developer(s) took on the project, Motorola would not need to be involved.
Microsoft appear to want to help - it might be worth starting a porting thread and contacting them.

Trouble with Android TV Boxes

Hi,
Deepak here from India. I am building my new business platform for which I am running my App on Android TV Boxes. I have tried many Android TV Boxes and there are few issues I have faced right from the beginning:
1. Availability of the right version of the FW
2. No support for configuring device/running apps in native-portrait mode. Of what I understand, Android TV makers lock the native orientation because thats how people watch TV. TV boxes with Amlogic processors so have this option but the performance of Amlogic devices is very poor compared to Rockchip ones
3. Non-availability of Rooted FW
I have been looking around a lot to build a custom firmware, but am unable to do so with my specific requirements. After pretty much giving up in my efforts, I call for help.
Is there anyone/any forum/any website where I can have a custom firmware built for my specific use? I don't mind paying for the efforts. What I am looking for is:
1. Android 4.4.4 rooted firmware (5.0/5.1 can also work)
2. Ability to run apps in portrait mode (orientation based on app request)
The above should be compatible with any of the latest available Rockchip based Android TV Box hardware (MXQ, MXQ 4K). Any bit of help in this regard would be truly and greatly appreciated.
Thanks a ton in advance.
Regards,
Deepak
