I notice that the playback speed control has changed from step change buttons to a slider. While this is good for large jumps in speed it offers no fine control especially on a small screen.
Please bring back the ability to finely control the playback speed. %5 increments were perfect.
Perhaps a setup option to use a slider or the previous button style would be useful.
Or buttons with the slider.
FYI. For certain videos I prefer a 115% payback speed which was easily achieved when each video started. Now it is frustrating to try to get near the required playback speed with the slider. It's made the MX player experience a little worse unfortunately.

Trust me this works, I just found this out right now and had to tell you guys. All you do is lower the brightness in the settings. You'll notice right away that as you keep lowering the brightness the framerate starts increasing. Just jitter your hand while you lower brightness.
I also strongly suggest you lower the contrast(to 1 or 2) in the camera settings to brighten up shadows.
Great. The brightness itself doesn't seem to suffer as it compensates the brightness somehow and the fps is nicceee
D: Brilliant! Well, at least that lessens my dissapointment in my TP xD
This really works. Thank you man.
I just tested it out by recording 2 videos. One at normal brightness, and one with 0 brightness.
The zero brigthness is CLEARLY more fluid. HTC you suck for not giving us good frame rates out of the box. Also lowering the brightness level doesn't seem to actually make the video much darker.
What!!? I can't believe this works!! It's awesome!
Now we just need a program to change the backlight up and down when the camera app is open/closed!
What is the framerate if you dont do this?
I made those adjustments and it makes the shadows appear VERY grainy.
Are you talking about fps in preview mode or does it actually change the fps when recording video?
Thanks.
Cool, I'll try it as soon as I get home.
do you mean i have to put brightnes to 9 o to the lower possible value (-1.5)?
TNX
is there a chance to do that in the xperia x1?
My recordings are still 18fps after doing this, but the video is much smoother when recording in low light areas (which is pretty much anywhere in-doors).
Hey guys, I been trying to find a way to boost my volume lvl when watching a movie, the stock volume doesnt seem to be loud enough, my fan in my room drowns out the stock volume when pushed to near max lvl.
So far the only 2 apps that I found have been Volume+ and Equalizer so I wanted to know,
which of the two works best? If you use them what are your settings?
Can you have both Equalizer and Volume+ installed at the same time?
Or are you using a different app?
I currently have Volume+ installed and cant tell if its doing anything.
As far as Equalizer goes, i have no idea what bars to push up so i pushed them all up and that seem to help make my volume louder.
Thanks.

As far as I know, Volume+ was made to work with Gingerbread phones only as stated in the developers market page, meanwhile Equalizer has been officially updated to support Honeycomb tablet screen sizes. I have been using Equalizer myself since the Xoom launched back in February. It worked great then, and now it works even better with the recent Honeycomb UI update!
The best sound output settings would be to drag all of the bars up to +15dB. The bass booster intensity, virtualizer, and the reverb settings would all be your personal preference. It usually won't ever distort the sound in any way, but rather increase the overall system volume by... I'm going to say literally 10 times louder. You'll notice an immediate difference especially while listening to music or watching a movie. Also, make sure that you have the notification bar shortcut option checked as the equalizer can sometimes be shut down by the Android system. Doing so will force it to turn back on automatically after a few seconds time.
Been using this exact setup for months now, and couldn't be happier! Hope this helps.
Disagree with above post. Don't crank up all your sliders to Max. Increase DB means you will get more distortion especially bass. Yes it will be louder. But the audio quality is utter crap. Why trade loudness and throw away the quality sounds this machine can produce? Half way up or less and keep lowest bass and high trebble a bit further back is my Max recommendation for Equalizer app. Heck just experiment and listen. I have both apps. Volume+ was a godsend to my evo 3d. Ended up returning it anyways. The volume increase bar doesn't work the same way on zoom. Also once in a while you have to move certain sliders lower for the effect to kick back in. Overall it sounded fake, hallow, washed out. Equalizer is a way better app for the zoom. You can set profiles and specific files can use different profiles. You aren't losing loudness per say cause it never really worked on zoom like other phones and zoom is already loud. For speaker I just choose flat. All at zero. Better then what zoom had as default.

Hmm.. I have been doing what I said in my post above since I got the OG Droid pretty much since it launched. The Droid maxes out at 10dB. Been using DSPManager on it to drag all bars to max dB. Yes, I know what that means, but with this method you will not be turning the system volume all the way up. It will be much louder, and I have not noticed any quality issues while maxing the dB while my Xoom is connected to my 200 watt wireless speaker system with the subwoofer cranked all the way up. It will cause quality issues if the system volume is totally maxed out, of course. That's common sense, but you will not ever have the need to do such a thing if you simply just adjust your Xoom's system volume properly and accordingly. You pretty much never ever want to max out the system volume if you were to use these kind of heavy settings on an equalizer. Again, common sense.
But yes, that's why there are the adjustable bars for an equalizer. You can change the settings on the fly just as you please. No audio quality loss if you do it right. I'm a tech expert, and that's what I have been doing for years. Wouldn't ever change it because there is no quality loss if you do it correctly, and the sound is ten times louder. Only you can decide what works best for your situation. Thanks!
hi, I'd love for playback speed buttons on the video rather than placing 2 fingers up and down to change the speed, sometimes this gesture doesn't work, I would love for a + and - buttons to decrease and increase the playback speed. thank you.
I've been a long time user of MX Player, and generally, I've been really happy with it. I love the swipe features including adjusting system brightness, volume, and time seeking. However, I'm finding that when watching videos in my car during my lunch break, many videos are extremely dark, even when I have the screen brightness maxed.I'm looking for a player that can increase the brightness of the video. Can I Do
Hi and thanks for making this great app.
One small feature that would make it even better is the option to pan up/down only, not left/right.
I prefer the subtitles on the overlay, not partially on the video and partially on the overlay so I usually pan the video up a bit with two fingers, but it's impossible to avoid panning left/right a little at the same time, which always annoys me a little.
Hence my request.
Thank you and have a nice day.
