Utechsmart usb c ethernet adapter works great if you need a hard line ethernet adapter for your phone. Haven't done any speed tests but worked for setting up networks.
Thanks for the advice! Are you referring to the 6 in one adapter? Its rather bulky, and expensive. I only really need the ethernet on its own.
Do you have any idea what the ethernet chipset is?
I had great luck with the Cable Matters ethernet adapter and the Belkin one. I tested both and while the Belkin one was more compatible with a few random methods I was experimenting with, I ended up keeping the Cable Matters one because it was cheaper and I ended up not going with the method I was trying to do. They both allow you to charge your phone (also supports power delivery charging if that matters) while using it. I use it for ethernet tethering and it works really well
Cable Matters: https://www.cablematters.com/pc-1370-125-usb-c-to-ethernet-adapter-with-power-delivery.aspx
Belkin: https://www.belkin.com/us/business/audio-video-adapters/usb-c-to-ethernet-charge-adapter/p/p-inc001/
p.s. I tested this about half a year ago and the Belkin one was over $50 at the time but now it has gone down in price at the time of posting this it is like $33 or something so I would probably recommend it over the Cable Matters one. The build quality on the Belkin was a bit better than the Cable Matters product.

There are many options on ebay but turns out many don't support high speed 480 mbps even though they say usb 2.0.
Can anyone recommend one with personal experience?
I'm looking as well ...anyone?
I either cannot find, or sold my old 3com adapter box:
http://www.overstock.com/Electronic...0-Network-Ethernet-Adapter/40819/product.html
So I checked BestBuy. They had this:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Belkin+-+USB+2.0+Ethernet+Network+Adapter/5559526.p?skuId=5559526
It worked 100% Plug and play on my Jesurun NX003 (RK3066 Device).
It does not seem to be fast -- Only 10/100, and, I don't seem to get any better through put than I do on this device's poor WiFi, but the point is that if you need to get one locally, the Belkin device they sell at Bestbuy does work.
The 3com device also worked on Linux/Android devices in the past, so I would say that if you happen across one, there's a very good chance it will work on most sticks that support Ethernet.
Note: I am not endorsing either of the 2 retailers mentioned.
Correction: I am definitely not endorsing either of the 2 retailers mentioned.
Check out this vid, there are USB Ethernet adapters that will do much higher speeds.
So I recently got a MHL/OTG adapter off of ebay. The HDMI out and usb ports seem to work no problem. My problem is that when connecting my charging cable to the MHL hub my device isn't getting any power. I have no indications of my battery % going up. That means if I were to stream a movie onto my TV it would work fine but I would run out of battery fast. Does this seem like there's something wrong with the MHL adapter? Is my samsung battery charger not strong enough? Any help with this is greatly appreciated. I have done a bit of research on this and found mixed answers.
Actually... That's normal... An otg adapter puts your device into "power output" mode so it can power a flashdrive or other storage device... So the input/charging mode gets turned off.
Plugging your charger into the hub helps power the external devices so they don't kill your battery so quickly...
No. MHL 3 is meant to charge in parallel. Works on mine. It charges at 700mA only though, pretty slow. You can check the current by Synapse App + Skyhigh Kernel. I think you can configure higher charging rates as well(didn't try). MHL 3 is speced for 2A current.
Yeah... MHL works that way... But the OP says it's also an "OTG hub off ebay" .... So were not just talking about a straight MHL adapter... If it's an OTG hub triggering OTG mode on the tablet... Then it won't charge and it's not suppposed to.

Hi, I also have a MHL/OTG adapter like yours (MHL/OTG/Card Reader) MHL-HDMI works flawless but OTG doesn't.
A USB pendrive that works flawless with an OTG cable it doesn't recognized in the hub while MHL>HDMI it's working.
@xmilar can you please post the link to the MHL/OTG adapter you bought and while yours not charge, are MHL+OTG working simultaniusly?
Thanks!
I've looked into MHL adapters for my Tab S 10.5 and LG G3 but it would require multiple cables and if I replace either or both items and the new item uses a different MHL, I would have to spend more money. I ended up just buying a Chromecast that does the same thing and wirelessly. Best $30 I spent
Hello, I ve bought an MHL adapter, the one with usb connector to charge the tablet when using the mhl, anyway nothing is working. The tablet doesnt charge, and shows 2 times the following : HDMI Connected, then after one second HDMI disconnected, two times. On my Sony phone works with no problems. I have skyhigh kernel and stock rom.
Probably it's not MHL 3?
Sorry for the late reply, if is not MHL 3 why is it working on my Sony Z1 compact with 4.4.4 rooted also.
If the adapter works on a Sony device then its probably based on a standard micro USB connector. According to the wikipedia entry for MHL newer samsung devices use a propriety 11 pin micro USB connector for MHL. There is mention of a "tip" to adapt between 11 pin and 5 pin, perhaps you could buy one of these?
I picked up a SanDisk Dual USB drive, and although it works well, I was disappointed to see it's a bit too big to work with the bumper case I use. I briefly considered modifying the case, but think my best option is getting a short USB extension cable... Though I thought that would be a simple and cheap solution. After a little looking around though, I'm not sure I know what micro usb extension I need - MHL, OTG, Power? As best as I can tell, I need what they're marketing as a micro to micro OTG extension - but if someone can confirm, I'd appreciate it. My concern comes from comments on some saying they don't work for charging or syncing (search for "YCS Basics 6 inch USB Micro male to female OTG extension cable" on amazon), but it sounds like the mhl cable is just for HDMI.
Help?
Just get a small USB OTG cable. I use one sometimes with my Corsair OTG drive and it works great. Not all of my cases will let me lug the micro USB in easily hence why I have a small OTG cable. I can post pictures if you would like.

Can you return it for the new USB 3.0 model? Supposedly they made the uUSB connector longer to work with more cases.

Really? That would have been great... but no. Or maybe... but probably not worth it to me at this point. I got a standard OTA cable and have just been living with it that way. And I haven't looked, but I'd have to think they're charging a premium for the 3.0 enhancement. I bought mine during one of those Christmas sales, so I got it real cheap at the time. Thanks though.
I recently bought a Dragonfly Black headphone DAC/Amp and would also like to use it on my Galaxy S8+.
I have bought and tried two different OTG cables and neither of them work with either with the Dragonfly or with an Xbox controller as a test. While using the stubby Samsung adapter, both of these things work fine.
I don't want to use the stubby adapter because it puts way too much strain on the USB port. So what is the deal with these things? I have some other USB C to female A adapters laying about and those don't work either. Is this something wrong with the S8? Does the Samsung adapter do something special? How can I buy one with a short cable that will work?
Thanks.
ive run into the same issue and have used Anker brand cables ever since and havent looked back at all.
I've researched this quite a bit and no of the solutions seem to fit my scenario. I'm looking for a solution to use a tablet as a gcode sender for my cnc machine. Otg cables can transmit fine, but there's no charging available (without installing a resistor, which is honestly more hassle than I'm looking for) and some of my carves take longer than the battery life. I have USB-c to hdmi hub with 3 USB ports, and it works when using on my phone, but I can't have my fold 3 sitting in the shop all day...so maybe a cheaper mhl compatible tablet would work?
I have yet to buy anything bc I don't want to waste money on something that's not going to work. Processing power doesn't really matter as it just needs to transfer gcode, and I'd prefer it to be on the cheaper side as it's going to be in a very dusty environment. Any and all help is appreciated.
