AptX/AptX HD Codecs - General Questions and Answers

I'm not a developer or a modder, but I was hoping someone could help with some information, since I was steered here on a search.
I have a Moto Z play running Oreo, which I discovered has the ability to use AptX HD in the Developer Options. When I would try and select AptX or AptX HD in the options, it would just revert back to SBC. I believe I discovered that the phone's system automatically chooses the Bluetooth Codec, depending on the connected device.
I just got a Bluetooth receiver to integrate with my home stereo. The Bluetooth receiver can handle AptX HD, and has indicator lights for what it is receiving.
I played around a bit with the setup using the Amazon Music App as the source on my phone. The indicator on the receiver had AptX lit up. I went to Developer Options on my phone and it showed AptX was the Codec. However, if I ticked the AptX HD in the Developer Options on my phone, it continued in AptX.
Can someone explain why the phone will not transmit with AptX HD? Is it because that is the highest rate Amazon Music App supports? If I use a different music player app on my phone will I be able to utilize the AptX HD Codec?
Thanks for the info. I like learning and I'm hoping to be able to get the best quality sound to my HiFi through Bluetooth.

Question for people with Oreo Beta regarding aptX

Hi, I'm thinking about getting the Mate 9 and see that the Oreo release is supposed to happen soon.
Has anyone with the Beta been able to test if you can enable aptX for your Bluetooth headphones? Does pairing under aptX or aptX Hd work?
Thanks!
Yes, it seems to me aptx and aac works in this beta. I can't show you hci log, cause phone does not create HCI log. But phone shows *streaming aptx* when i listen to the music with my beyerdynamic byron bta. You can even choose discretisation 44'1 and 48 khz. You can choose aptx, sbc, aac. AptxHd and Ldac doesnt work, despite of these are in the list too. I will not lie to you, that i hear great difference, but i definitely notice video/audio sync is much better with aptx, then sbc. So i made a decision it really works!

Bad bluetooth audio quality when not using aptX (HD)

Hi there,
has anyone else quality issues with bluetooth audio? When not using aptX or aptX HD, music sounds like it only had a bitrate of 64kbps. Really bad. Tested this with two car stereos and a bluetooth speaker. However when listening to music with an aptX (HD) enabled device, it sounds perfectly fine. With my old LG G4 I didn't have these problems using the same devices.
I also tried changing bluetooth settings in developer options, but that didn't change anything.
I'm currently on TW 1.24.709.7

Streaming audio over bluetooth using aptX™ HD and LDAC

My Lenovo K8 Note shows all the various audio codecs in the Bluetooth section of the developer options but when I choose aptX to connect to the one bluetooth headset I have that supports it the stream type still shows SBC.
Does the presence of all these codecs in the list mean that my phone supports all of them?

Let me get this straight, no Jack yet the BT codec doesn't stick??

Always reverts to APX. When I select APXHD or Sonys ldac it reverts back to regular APX after song change
Awesome glad I can use my nice BT headset to full effect, NOT!
Is oneplus aware and how do I make them software better BT options??
It's "aptx" not "apx"
What's headphones are you using? Name them
Where are u changing codec, in developer options?
Both the headphones and the device needs to support the codec. If the phone is switch back to aptx, then that means that the headphones have only support for aptx and can't use other codecs like ldac.
There aren't many BT headsets that are aptxHD compatible, especially so if you've had your headset for over a year. They will revert back to the highest compatibility of the headset you're using. I bought My Sony MDR-XB650BT headset just about a year ago and they are only aptx not aptxHD capable.
Ya'll are right, ty

Bluetooth Headphones and AptX

Can someone help me understand AptX and audio latency? I bought a pair of BT headphones to game with on the 8T. I originally thought BT 5.x was supposed to help with audio latency, but it does not. From what I was told, I needed AptX support. I purchased another set of headphones with BT 5.x and AptX support, but I was still getting noticeable audio lag when gaming. With either headphones, I do not notice latency when watching YouTube or something like a movie on Netflix.
Check headphones that have game mode that can be turned on (with low latency).
