Hello everyone I've tested fold2 in store this week and I am in love with it, on my current tablet (android7) I run termux and andronix (with pulse audio) and get pretty good emulation, can listen songs in Andronix while coding in VncViewer. So recently I've decided to buy fold2 but as I searched through internet I've seen some issues mentioned about android 10 giving errors on termux etc. they are not fold2 specific but I know fold2 uses android 10 and getting android 11 recently as I saw and will get some updates for a some time. I am wondering, is there any person using Andronix or equivalent virtual linux with sound on your fold2 with latest firmware version? Are there any person having issues? On the contrary if anyone using fold2 with this purpose and having fun I also really appreciate to hear from you.
While I was preparing my question I've seen some issues regarding file access in termux regarding android 11 and target sdk api level I will install termux as soon as I get one would it be better to update android 11 when I get it or wait in 10 until any problems on 11 are fixed?

Greetings all,
As a massive community of Android overlords, this seemed like a good place to post this random thought.
As everyone knows, Netflix does not support linux. While it's been leaked that Chrome OS will provide netflix compatability, that development thread has since been locked, and somehow I am dubious about when or if this will ever materialize.
In just the past few days, Netflix announced an app for certain android phones, which one of your number promptly hacked and made available for most android phones. I think it was "ftep", and bravo to you, dude.
The nearest solution for netflix on Android is to run WinXP in a virtual machine - alot of overhead for a simple video player. But now that there is an app for android, I immediately thought - Android x86. If the player app could run there, it might be possible set up an Ax86 virtual machine to watch netflix in Linux, without the massive overhead of an XP VM.
I wish I had the technical know-how to take this on. I did install VMware and got an Ax86 virtual machine running 2.2, but none of the netflix apps, modded or original, would install. That's where I hit a brick wall.
So just an idea. Any takers?
Thanks!
TM
I actually was thinking the same thing a few minutes ago. Was searching and found this post. I'm working on it right now, will get back to you as soon as I make any (if any) progress.
Any updates? Most interested!
Did anything ever come of this? Apparently, running an ARM Android emulator for the Netflix app won't play video. I was hoping Ax86 would do the trick, but I haven't been able to find anyone who's pulled it off just yet.
BUUUUUUMP!!!
Don't know if this helps but AFAIK the netflix app uses native ARM code and therefore won't run on AndroidX86. I have an Android-X86 tablet now and I know the original won't run.

Hope this helps
Recently, I found a topic about installing Linux Debian on P500. This piqued my curiosity.
The question is:
Is there other alternatives than Android for P500?
Firefox OS, Windows Phone, I know, is impossible, I am looking for other systems.
Best regards
-Caio
Those Debian installs are most usually for a chroot run on top of android. Get a bash window, not likely a GUI would be able to run with our memory limitations.
Some of us would kill for a working version of Ubuntu touch, but everyone else with higher-end phones is still waiting for this.
i know it may sound newbish, but isnt possible for windows phone to tun on an android device (althought its not open source)? i fund some vague informations on google, so thats why im asking
Well if you get some flagship devices like nexus 4, nexus 5 you can enjoy firefox os, ubuntu and sailfish on them
I have a brand new OP7 from China, with AA international android 10 rom installed.
problem I am having, my employer requires device management through vmware intelligent hub application for device enrollment, and cert installations.
during the setup and enrollment process, I get an error saying failed to create install url, support team has never seen this error before, and I can't find much reference to the issue online.
Any suggestions where to start with this?
Probably compatible issue with android 10.
Try to clean install of 10.0.1. For me at least it solved some apps that didn't worked even in first original android 10 release.
As usual, the solution here is downgrading to android 9, due to providers not being willing to believe there is an issue with their software. I used the rollback package provided for those running Q betas earlier in the year. This put it back to 9.5 and I was able to get the vmware product to work. I will hold off on updating to 10 when they get their head out of their butts.
Note to the vmware developers, your product has been broken on android 10 since the early betas in the spring, but still, you fail to address the problem. Your support is a joke.
Hello everyone,
first of all, a few words about me.
I have used a normal Android (unrooted) smartphone for a very long time.
My last ROM is also a long time ago, CyanogenMod Donut was my last ROM.
In the meantime a lot of time has passed. Meanwhile CyanogenMod became to Lineageos.
In the future I want to use my smartphone anonymously.
This is a lot of work, because my smartphone contacts are in the Google Cloud, too. You guys probably know how difficult it is to completely free yourself from the ecosystem.
Here are my problems and findings
1.) For my contacts I will set up an owncloud carddav server.
2.) For some websites / tools I used the Google Authenticator. I still have to check here if there are alternatives.
3.1) As operating system I would like to use BSD. That will probably be difficult. I have heard about an interesting project here:
hackaday.io/project/13145-bsd-based-secure-smartphone
3.2) Linux as operating system would also be fine. Does anyone have experience with Kali Linux (Nethunter) / Debian, Lineageos or Purism?
btw. i have a new poco x3...
Thanks in advance
cksum
Hello all,
I've not flashed a mobile device in a very long time. I was wondering if Postmarket OS is compatible with the moto G7 river? I've seen that it's compatible with other G7 variants but I've not seen anywhere explicitly say it will work with G7 river. I don't have enough knowledge about flashing to know what to look for in regards to if a device should be compatible. I'm also open to other Linux OS on this device but they don't seem to mention the G7 series so I'm assuming they are not compatible. My previous laptop linux experience includes Arch Linux & Debian so any OS that are similar or operate similarly are preferred (I'm kinda computer savvy but no formal CS education, so I can adapt to a totally new system but that isn't my preference)
I know lineage is supported but it says it's based on android which IMO is starting to remind me of how Windows slowly got worse over time. I know android is ultimately based on Linux but like others have said it's hardly recognizable as linux and doesn't follow the philosophies that makes linux distros great. I would settle for lineage as a last resort as at the minimum I'm trying to get away from Google on mobile devices ( game addiction, Google play store way too tempting to fully kick gaming habits).
(UPDATE)
So I successfully followed the instructions on here https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/river and have booted up in lineage successfully. No google in sight however if anyone can point me to instructions on how to flash or otherwise get a linux distribution (like debian) onto the phone I would still give it a shot if it seems well supported (little to no risk of hard-bricking).
[added to OP] I'm not sure if I can delete this post so if mods do clean-up feel free to delete this one. I've looked for a delete or trash button but don't see one.
