Holding Power and Volume doesn't seem to work and neither does just holding down.
I dont know the model of the phone and its functionalities but i suppose you have to turn it off, and then hold power + vol- or power + vol+

Volume Up puts it into recovery where it shows to wipe the cache or data, reboot, and turn off
Try power + vol- while powered off
If this still doesnt work then:
1) go to https://adb.clockworkmod.com/ and download the adb driver, put it in a folder you remember you are gonna need it.
2) open a command prompt
3) type cd (Here goes the full path to the folder with adb driver)
4) connect the phone to pc and type "adb reboot bootloader"

It seems that it SHOULD go to the bootloader but it only just turns on the device just like how doing adb reboot bootloader does..
Is it possible that this device doesn't have a bootloader or something?

OMG
Each computer ( Windows PC, Android phone, Apple Mac, etc.pp ) has a bootloader. That's the piece of software that initializes device's hardware components and then starts OS.

I have access to the phone for now, but I'm worried if it ever dies, I won't be able to boot because the power button is shot.
Is there any way to boot my phone from it being in a completely shut off state? Thanks.

@Niflheimer is wrong. If you want to boot without a power button simply hold down the "volume down" button. and plug your phone into a power source. It will go straight into fastboot mode. You will need android SDK installed on your computer here, then load your nexus 5 into fastboot mode (like mentioned previously) and type "fastboot reboot" you device will power on.
no power button needed
Sorry , I thought he meant without external devices.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Yea he's wrong

Ive tried what was mentionned but no way to select the start option on the menu because there is no power button. Any other way to bypass this without the actual power button?

you don't need the power button, just boot into fastboot as said above and, if you got fastboot working on your pc, send "fastboot reboot" and it will boot into the system
I can't get into recovery mode on my new LG G Flex 2. I've tried holding Volume Down + Power till the Logo appears, then releasing and holding again which just resets or shuts off the phone after a few more seconds, I've tried holding Volume Down + Power till Logo, then holding both Volume keys which does nothing. What does work is getting to the Hard Reset screen by holding Volume Down + Power till Logo, then releasing only Power button and holding it down again.
I've read that some things don't work on 5.1.1, but that shouldn't affect the recovery, right? As the phone isn't rooted, I can't use apps like Quick Boot either.
Help me!
I understand your frustration man, developing for this phone is a pain (to put it lightly). That being said do you have adb and fastboot installed (android SDK) on your computer? if so you should be able to open a command prompt and type
"adb reboot recovery" without the quote... and hit enter, and it should reboot into recovery. I cant guarantee you wont see an android laying down with a (!) in a triangle.... If that happens unplug your phone and keep pushing and holding different button combos to get it to reboot regularly again

I'll try that, thank you. But is there an explanation for why the normal way - using the hardware buttons - doesn't work? What could be wrong?
I did buy it "Used-Like New".

In may case works in the same way. With the button "combo" doesn't work. If you have root can get an app from store to do wipe, like system tuner.

I have searched and looked for alternatives on how to maybe enter download mode but have not found any solution. I have tried phone off then vol. down + bixby then plug in usb, also pow button + bixby + vol. down then plug usb but every time I do this all I get is a circle with a lightning logo with battery percentage. I also went into recovery mode and tried rebooting into bootloader however that just ends up rebooting back to the recovery menu. Please help. Thank you.
anyone with any tip on what might help or be the issue? I have an exynos version.

Hi, try to reboot into bootloader using ADB.
First off thank you for the response.
I tried that as well however maybe I did it wrong. Is it? adb reboot bootloader or adb reboot download
It's so strange you know cause I've tried so many different ways and I thought that rebooting to bootloader from recovery menu would definitely work however all it does is reboot back to my home screen.
Power off phone and just hold down pwr+vol up+ Bigsby for like 8ish seconds and it should boot to download.
Also adb/fastboot is a second route, read through this the below link. Make sure you have the Samsung drivers installed and adb/fastboot properly installed and prerequisites. https://www.theandroidsoul.com/unlock-bootloader-via-fastboot-android/
Or try to boot in safe mode
Hold power button when phone is on, then long press power off, and then select safe mode. https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-223011/

crazy thing is I'm able to boot into recovery with no problem but that's about it. also adb does recognize my device as I can see the characters after inputting "adb devices"
Hey guys,
I just found out how to access the working recovery on the Nokia 5.1 Plus.
Instructions:
1. Make sure USB debugging is enabled.
2. Run adb reboot recovery from your pc
3. When you see the android and the no command statement press power+volume up simultaneously.
5. Say hi to the recovery!
Hope this helps.
Sorry guys but pressing and holding power+volume up turned out to be useless; you need to run the command from a pc.

I meant that trying not to run the command and pressing volume up+power with the device off will not work as it will not bring you the message.
