new update 55.2.A.0.630....A.2.66 - Sony Xperia 1 Guides, News, & Discussion

any info about it yet
EU didn't even get the 55.1.A.12.28 yet
so I'm pretty pissed off about Sony
i'm still on October patch

I just flashed the UA last two versions.
I think it's not a problem from Sony the EU need backdoor that's the problem

Looks like its Android 11 , can´t wait for the EU Version:
[Updated] Sony Xperia 5 & Xperia 1 Android 11 update begins rolling out
Sony has begun rolling out the Android 11 update for the Sony Xperia 1 and Sony Xperia 5 in South East Asia and a few other regions.
piunikaweb.com

Just use flashtool 0.9.33.0 to download and flash firmware. RU is the best. It is firs to get update. Every time. I have got Android 10 on XPERIA 1 with RU firmware back in december. So the firs to get new firmwares. EU is the last or it never gets some firmwares because EU region is big region and there are many countrys and each country mast approve firmware. If one country doesn't approve firmware, no update for EU region.

The problem is that VOLTE does only work with the EU firmware in Germany, so I have to wait for the EU update.

True.

I received the update OTA on 13/1/21 while running 55.1.A.12.28 (RU) that was flashed via newflasher then wiped and restored via Xperia Companion.
It's running fine and is Android 11 and looks pretty good overall. not sure about battery life and other use benefits.

Hi,
Can someone create and share an .ftf version of 11 android, because my flashtool cant create it....stuck on loader.sin. (Customized RU from xperifirm). Model J9110. No OTA update yet...

can you push it with Newflasher?
I got great success by flashing with newflasher, then restoring with Xperia Companion then it updated on it's own after a few hours. I was on 55.1.A.12.28 Customized RU before.

Will try, soon, and reply, thanks

How did you manage to use Xperia Companion for backup and restoring? I tried and it said it stop the support service...

What is your error messages?
I didn't update phone to Android 11 using flashtool because I am on RU firmware. But flashing latest Android 10 firmware was OK. This is what I do:
Download and install FlashTool 0.9.33.0
Open Flashtool and let the device database sync .
Click on the XperiFirm icon to get a list of official Sony firmwares .
Select the your device on the left, and the select the Customization you would like to download and then
lick on the box below "Available Firmware" to start downloading.
Once the Firmware has downloaded, close XperiFirm and then let FlashTool do some processing on the downloaded firmware to create a .ftf file of the firmware in your C:\Users\<username>\.flashTool\firmwares folder.
Now click on the Flash button and choose Flashmode. Don't check anything because it will erase all your data.
When prompted, power off your phone and then hold down the volume down key on your phone and connect a USB cable from the phone to your computer. Keep the volume down key held until the notification light turns green. The flashing process will now be prepared.
If you get a prompt saying "A FSC script is found. Do you want to use it?" choose yes. An error of "those data are not in the fsc script: persist, reset-non-secure-adb" is entirely normal, so choose Yes, and let the flashing commence. If you get a prompt asking you to select a partition, select the top option for 128GB storage and the bottom for 256GB storage -- if unsure click cancel. I selected cancel. If you get "ERROR:null" then repair your phone with Xperia Companion first.
Flashing will be complete when you see "Sync status : OKAY".

All companies release new firmware outside EU/US/UK first, not just Sony. Its not because they don't care, or because they care about Russia, India, Asia more... Its because if something is seriously wrong with the firmware, they are less likely to get sued from customers from those more poor regions than EU/US/UK. Be patient and wait for the official release, or download flashtool and flash the RU version, its the same.

we'r talking about a simple security patch....it's just like updating your virus databank at your firewall on pc
no provements to the phone from Sony in a long long time !!!

[Q] Can't find updates for android 4.4.4

Hello. My xperia m2 says that there are no updates and the phone is up to date but it's with android 4.4.2. Theres 1 secound delay in the sound when I play games or use downloaded apps like youtube also the audio doesn't sound very good. To fix that I need to update the android version but I cant. I connected the phone to my computer and updated it with sony PC companion but the version is still 4.4.2. What should I do? I don't want to use flashtools or anything. I think it's the phone's fault for that and I should give it back to the place where I bought it so they can fix that. The phone is brand new and they already changed my camera because it wasn't working. So what should I do?
I suppose it has to do with the Country of your phone and/or if it is branded. IF after using PC Companion it's still with 4.4.2 I'm afraid your best (and only) option is to use Flashtool. Not sure how it works if it is branded though, you may need to to something to be able to de-brand it.
Well, actually try first to check if 4.4.4 is available in this way:
- Dial *#*#7378423#*#* (*#*#service#*#*)
- Check the number in Service Info/SW Info/Customization version. You just need the xxxx-yyyy part
- Downdload and install Flashtool (it's small. You just need it for checking)
- Run Flashtool
- Go to Devices/Check Updates
- Select your phone double clicking on the id xxxx-yyyy you have got before.
- If the version is 18.3.C (like the one for 3 UK) there is no 4.4.4. the latest ROM is 4.4.2. It must be 18.3.1.C for 4.4.4
My is branded from T-mobile, and i flashed CE ftf to debrande, everything is good except i don't have extra apps that T-mobile puts in. As i know your safe flashing ftf cos it's official Sony's software, just using Flashtool instead of PC Companion and you won't lose warranty, as long as you don't unlock bootloader.
Good Luck.

Obviously on the computer. It's needed to flash the phones from it. Just google it, you find it immediately. Then if you decide to flash a generic 4.4.4 FTF just search around. There are dozens of guides in the Internet.
Alright thanks for your support guys

LTE Band Locked -- PLEASE HELP!!

Hi everyone.
I really need your help. I've been searching for days now and i can't find any solution.
I've bought Z3 (D6603) on Amazon. Before buying, i checked if it was compatible with my country's LTE bands and it was.
The first time i turn it one it was in Chinese ... or something like that.
3g and 4g are not working at all. Already check with my carrier and the settings are fine.
*#*#SERVICE#*#* shows that i DON't Have the band i need. (BC 4)
It seams to be modified by factory...
I also flashed several roms using flash tools. Nothing...
Another strange thing is that i can't unlock the bootloader (following sony's official page).
Also when i try to reset from Xperia Companion i get a message saying that my phone cannot be identified. Same thing using Emma.
PLEASE! any one can help me?
Let's try and identify the phone model etc.
Go to Settings, About phone (at bottom) and give all the info from there / if possible post screen shots.
As much info on the phone as possible would be good. Just don't post the IMEI number or show it here.
Stuff like build number / baseband version and all that technical stuff will be really useful.
The Chinese on start up makes it seem it's either fake or has the Chinese firmware on it and I don't think they use D6603 in China. Not being identified by Sony tools is another red flag.
Can you not send it back for a refund as it is clearly not in functioning order? Amazon should refund you if the seller has "disappeared"....

Okay doesn't look too bad. You're on the original firmware, not the updated version which is Android 6.0.1. You are on 4.4.4.
I would say best bet is to download the Argentina (that's your country so I suggest this) or Generic Global firmware and flash it with flashtool.
http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
Install it and then go to it's install location on your PC and find the drivers .exe and install the flashmode, fastboot and Xperia Z3 drivers. It might not install them all. If you get errors installing drivers you need to disable driver signature verification on the PC so Google how to do it if you don't know how. It is very easy. Then you will be able to install the drivers so it can actually flash the firmware.
With that tool there will be an option in the form of a black circle with XF on it. That is XpiriFirm. Use that to find and download the latest FTF (firmware file) for the D6603. It should end with .291
Follow the instructions on flashtool to flash it. Options will show up asking what parts of the ftf you want to include and exclude. All you need to do here is make sure to EXCLUDE anything that ends in .TA
Please do that as it might brick the phone if not excluded (you won't miss it it is very obvious.)
And it might be a good idea to wipe the data so tick the boxes for wipe so you have a completely clean phone.
Flashtool should then ask you to turn off the phone and hold the vol down button to install the firmware in flashmode.
Let it complete and then it will tell you to turn the phone on.
If there are errors then there might be a problem with the phone. If there is then contact Amazon directly and the seller and explain the situation. With some luck they might help you.

Already done that.... 5 times (5 different firmware). Still the same.. but with android 6.0.1.
I found 1 more thing that may be a clue: When you hard reset the phone or install a new firmware (same thing..i know) when the system show the welcome Sony's screen and the settings wizard, there is a small toast message that shows "Flash restore service starting: please wait for the Power off button" (not the exact message). After several times a black screen with a Power Off button appears and you can't do anything until you press it. After that the phone restart and it's normal again.
When flashing with the flash tool in the MA TA section you can see AUTO_BOOT and OSV-RESTRICTION. When you try to flash any rom, a warning message appears: "AUTO_BOOT and OSV-RESTRICTION not found in the script, continue?" (not the exact message).
Already ask for the refund.. but it cost me something like 150 U$S... also, i don't have the original box ... so it's going to be really difficult to return the product. I'm sure it's a software problem..
Thanks again for your help!!!

Okay good luck. Seems a bit messed up to me :/
Those ta sections are ignored when flashing, you do not need them.
Another solution:
Flash a 575 firmware and root your phone. Then try one of the available custom roms. There also is a solution to enable missing bands, but this is a little bit more difficult.

Any way to get update push after ROM flashing?

My Xperia XZ Dual was with Chinese firmware originally. In order to use Google services, months ago I flashed the HK firmware (39.0.A.1.250) whose Android version was 6.0.1 to my phone.
Later when the Android 7.0 was released, I noticed that my phone couldn't receive firmware update anymore. It does show "a new update is available" in the Xperia Care app, but when I tap to update, it always says that "your device is already in lastest version".
Is the update somehow relatived to the IMEI, so I cannot receive any push of my current firmware anymore? And what's more important, is there any way to get an incremental update, instead of a whole new 7.0 flashing?

need android oreo...

I want to roll back to oreo but xperifirm deletes previous android versions and I cant download the 47.1.A.16.20 for my region Israel (customized IL)
is there a way I can download any oreo firmware from different regions and simply copy some files from the android Pie (customized IL) and place them with the oreo that is from a different region and make my device receive OTA from my region?
I also made a mistake and updated Xperia XZ to Android 9.0. I am looking for any tutorial how to back to proper Android Oreo or even 7.1 if I nowhere find out Oreo. I consider even selling this phone because 9.0 is so bad that using my phone is right now a nightmare. I have hope that another vendors will modified what Google has broken in Pie. Sound regulation, auto brightness, toggles and even status bar is all so bad that I cannot believe that it is genuine Android update, however I have seen on another phone this crappy update and I recognised that it is unfortunately true. I really urgently need old rom file or I will have to sell this amazing phone.
I fully second those comments. It can be worse, but this upgrade is a disgrace in creating inconveniences. How to rollback the Sony OS has become a must instead of a nicety. My plan for future is either not to upgrade for six months, or buy a working second hand unit with cracks and all just to test the new OS from Sony.

Official Xperia 5 ii Android 11 Stock Rom for Europe

I am wondering if there is any possibility to get an official Stock Rom (europe) of android 11 for xperia 5 ii. I tried to load version 58.1.A.5.530 with emma, but the install process aborted all the time. I was able to reinstall A12 via Xperifirm and new flasher command line tool and I'd like to install now A11 in the same ways. Any help? Thanks in advance
This is also my question! A12 is really frustrating me at the moment (calls dropping, bluetooth connect issues and also bluetooth volume control not working). Also the UI is just to gimmicky in my opinion. Spend the last 30 min to find a download for the official firmware for A11 europe, but wasn't able to track it down...
With more searching, I found a website with an archive of firmware files for the xperia 5 ii: https://support.halabtech.com/
It has the XQ-AS52_58.1.A.1.178_EE UK firmware. This should be it, right?
Firmware XQ-AS52 - Google Drive
drive.google.com
I'm a bit scared of bricking the device, so please let me know if this is the one for rolling back to A11
I don't know. It's definitely not the latest A11. I am not sure if there is a difference between UK and other Europe.
Any help?
I also see
XQ-AS52_EE UK_58.1.A.5.330.zip
and
XQ-AS52_Customized EEA_58.1.A.5.330.zip
these are more recent (aug 2021). Will download these two also and put those in the folder as well. Still not sure which version we need.

But I think I need the get back on A11 anyway
OK, do NOT use the EE UK firmwares! We need the CUSTOM EEA.
Flashing the wrong one gave an error on booting.
I am now trying to get the 58.2.A.2.80 working again, but am stuck in a bootloop atm. Any ideas?
Try to install xperiafirm and use it to download the right firmware (Android12 only) then use newflasher and the guide I published to reinstall A12 - still better than bootloop

with the latest firmware reflashed I am now stuck in a bootloop. Factory reset does not work.
I can get into the recovery menu, but after a couple of loops it says 'device corrupted'
Ok, sorry to hear that. I guess then I was lucky with a NewFlasher Resetup
A12 running again via the official Xperia Companion app
I think I will just stick with it atm
I got another Update today. Build 58.2.A.4.52. I hope it's better now...
The latest Android 11 Europe ROM for Xperia 5 II can be downloaded here:

I have manually reverted it from the FTF format, so it can be used with the Newflasher, you can download it here:
http://koprajs.mx-net.cz/XQ-AS52_Customized EEA_58.1.A.5.530.zip
But if you've already installed Android 12, you cannot probably go back because of the "rollback protection" feature of the bootloader. The only way is to unlock the bootloader and reset the rollback index.
Thank you very much. It freezes all the time, I think I am going to try this.
