need android oreo... - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

I want to roll back to oreo but xperifirm deletes previous android versions and I cant download the 47.1.A.16.20 for my region Israel (customized IL)
is there a way I can download any oreo firmware from different regions and simply copy some files from the android Pie (customized IL) and place them with the oreo that is from a different region and make my device receive OTA from my region?

I also made a mistake and updated Xperia XZ to Android 9.0. I am looking for any tutorial how to back to proper Android Oreo or even 7.1 if I nowhere find out Oreo. I consider even selling this phone because 9.0 is so bad that using my phone is right now a nightmare. I have hope that another vendors will modified what Google has broken in Pie. Sound regulation, auto brightness, toggles and even status bar is all so bad that I cannot believe that it is genuine Android update, however I have seen on another phone this crappy update and I recognised that it is unfortunately true. I really urgently need old rom file or I will have to sell this amazing phone.

I fully second those comments. It can be worse, but this upgrade is a disgrace in creating inconveniences. How to rollback the Sony OS has become a must instead of a nicety. My plan for future is either not to upgrade for six months, or buy a working second hand unit with cracks and all just to test the new OS from Sony.

i roll back to oreo i alwasy take precuatiuons and download firmwares!!!!

Need help flashing any "customized DE" Firmware.

Hello. Received my Xperia XZ in germany with T-Mobile branding, which i wanted to remove because i do not have t-mobile and all their apps are useless to me, secondly the lot of pink icons / flashing screens / etc. are extremely annoying. I did sucessfully unlock and tried to flash "customized DE" (latest) which always fails (downloaded via XperiFirm, deleted the .xml, packed and flashed with Flashtool).
Then i tried searching an Android 6 tft, and found the "customized CE1" which worked, but did not get the Android 7.0 update yet. But in the end, this is not what i wanted to archive as its the wrong firmware version. As far as i understood flashing Android 7.0 ftfs is currently not possible? And also sony only has latest Firmware downloadable, so no DL-Link for the 6.x Firmware for my region? Did not manage to find the correct Firmware using google.
Can anyone help me out?
Either finding the correct german Firmware ftf for 6.x or how to flashing the 7.x one.
Thanks!

Thanks, but already checked both.
Xperiafirm only finds the newest Android 7.0 Firmware - or is there a hidden "old firmwares" feature?
XperiCheck also lists only the newest Fimware.
Just figured out while writing this post, i can click on the CDA - which seems to list all "customized DE".
Only problem now: I do not have an Alfafile account, nor do i have any of the available payment options to buy me the smallest subscription to aquire this file. :/
Google also does not seem to find any result for "F8331_1305-9090_39.0.A.3.30-R4B_Customized_DE.ftf"
EDIT: That ftf file is not shown in FlashTool - possibly broken one So still no real progress.

OTA updates for imported Honor V10 phone

Hi,
I live in Egypt and the Honor View10 is NOT officially sold here so I bought it from the hihonor UK website. I noticed that I never receive OTA updates despite trying to check for updates from time to time. When I wait for too long for OTA and it never comes, I use Firmware Finder which is NOT working nowadays for some reason & honestly I'm not a big fan of it since my phone is a flagship and relatively new so why not getting OTA updates directly from Honor?!
Chatting with Customer Service today revealed a schocking thing. I was told that I should be using the phone in Europe with an European SIM to get updates since my phone is not supported in my region!!! I told him that my phone is the international version and it was unlocked (sim free) so how come I won't be getting updates just because I'm not living in Europe?!! all he said is that he'll forward my complaint to the dev team to investigate but no promises
But is this really the case with all other brands or it's just Honor/Huawei?!
I'm here not to knock any brand down but paying around GBP 450 for a phone that will torture me just to get OTA updates is a thing that I regret now very much - especially that they have all their attention nowadays on their newer phone (the Honor 10), which is pretty much identical to the Honor View 10 but with a notch! and my phone seems like it was forgotten very quickly!.
If this issue is not resolved, I'll drop Honor/Huawei brand entirely from any future considerations! a hard move on my part because of their excellent hardware but I can't pay at least ~ USD 500 for a phone without having OTA pushed to me wherever I am in the world!!!

Well first of all this is bull**** that you need European sim to get updates
Kindly mention the version you are currently on.. Just to notify you, updates are quite slow on view 10 so it's like 1 update in about 2 months
There are ways you can debrand your phone and change it to US, Indian or China version as well getting updates shouldn't be a problem, at best use Vpn to overcome any geographic restrictions

Thanks for your answer. I'm quite sure their customer service wasn't right and my sim has nothing to do with updates as I bought it sim free in the first place. I was wondering if there's any way to convert my phone from European to US and install their Oreo 8.1 ROM with the EMUI 8.1? I obtained an unlock code from their website but I kept it aside as I'm not planning to use custom ROMs untill official suppport stops completely.
I'm currently on the BKL-L09 8.0.0.160(C432) - bootloader is locked and no root or any modification has been applied to my phone.
Android Security Patch: May 5, 2018
I know that there's the B162 update which has EIS + June security patch + some fixes for sound...etc
and there's also the B163 update with has July security patch.
I'm not interested to install VPN's for daily use as I'm not super worrying about privacy, but I installed and tried several free VPNs and configured them to any European country, but checking for updates gave nothing up till this moment I'm writing this. I'm really pissed off!

Well yes 163 is available for your device, u can always use firmware finder for update, lucky for you full ROM is present on firmware finder, not just incremental updates, u can use this
If u get any problem installing this just search for "dload" method and it will update just fine

Not everybody I know in Spain has 162 update, the OTA are rolling out in batches, perhaps with a VPN you could get the OTA in a easier way, but wait for a few days to check if OTA is available

I will wait for the end of July and hopefully I hear something about an update showing up in Europe but I'm still very pissed off because this model has been very quickly ignored in favour of the subsequent notched model!! I have never ever seen a company release pretty much identical hardware consecutively!! [emoji80]

I used the dload method on my c675 to update from b130 to b151.. Then used the system update to go to b161
As long as the dload contains the exact ROM for your phone it will work.
Other than that use system update.
HFF is useless to my phone.. Always rejects the update from them.

I am confused myself because for each firmware version, there is ota and fullota and for each of these, there are three files and I'm not sure which one is the actual update. For example if I ignore the B163 for now because it's not approved yet, the B162 OTA for example has three files in it and I am not sure what to do with them. For example, some people say to unzip the update.zip file inside a dload folder and some people say just keep it zipped and put it on the root of internal storage so I'm confused a lot.

In the dload method you must use all 3.. But for your model
I give up on HFF... It's useless now other than downloading full ota maybe.
Let me find the link explaining the dload method... Except change the c675 to your number... On the dload method you will have a fresh device wiped off all your data.
Imho I'd wait till you get it through system... The b161 installed perfect.
I don't think HFF is official and is having problems...I deleted it as none of the files seem to work and always gets rejected.
I'll link to the form that had a detailed dload method I used and was successful with the b151.
For dload always use full ota.. With system update you can use partial.

Download the full ota.... And follow this guide

We have an update every month, perhaps aren't the update you are waiting. In September, we will receive GPU turbo update.
If you don't want unlock the bootloader the only thing you can do is wait, if you don't care about your bootloader, unlock it and look for few ways to flash an update

understand
But Huawei updates are based on regions
Only solution is manual flashing
I'm in America with a Indian phone with a American sim.... And I got c675 Indian region update in America..
Just be patient..... You'll get it.
I imported my phone from the UK and using it in Egypt which doesn't have this phone sold officially. I have complained again to the customer service today that I'm not receiving OTA updates and he insisted that I won't be having updates because I'm not using a UK sim and that's their policy so I am seeing now a contradiction between what you're saying and what I was told by the customer service!

agreed. we get updates. sometimes SIM is needed but sometime doesnt. I got bunch of updates on my 6X from China with Indian SIM. anyways, user can dload the full firmware for updating it manually.
Hello seems like my parents are having the same issue. The phones are bought from China and are BKL-AL20.
But looking in about phone it states
Modell: BKL-L09
Version: BKL-L09 8.0.0.110 (C432)
So they seem to be running on very old version. I'm pretty sure that they got OTA updates the first time they opened the phone. When I now try to update the phone says that there are no updates. C432 is Europe and my parents are in Sweden and hence using a Swedish sim-cards.
Is there anyway to get the phones updated, preferably without loosing any data or the hassle of unlocking bootloader and rooting the phones?
Edit: I tried phone updater, HiSuite updater and HiCare updater.

GUIDE: How to FLASH and RESTORE your STOCK firmware on the TA-1054 (and others)

It seems like there are a few people having trouble going back to stock and getting everything working.
As always, this requires an unlocked bootloader. If you don't have an unlocked bootloader then search google for a $5 service that does. It is what I did.
I flashed Project treble on my TA-1054. It worked great except it kept saying "insert SIM" when there was already a sim card inside, so I could not use it.
I tried to go back to stock but that firmware file on that google drive thread was corrupted, bad upload. Took me a few days to source this original firmware.
There is a tool called OST ( around 115MB), and a patch that comes with it (the smaller file less than 1MB)
The firmware is almost 2 GB
Download everything, including firmware.
1. Install the OST tool.
2. Replace the EXE file in the program files with the patch file you downloaded.
3. Delete the Onlineupdatetoolexe.config file. If you don't do this, the program will not start correctly.
4. Put phone into download mode ( either by powering it off, pluging into USB cable and immediately hold power and volume down. Or if you can boot into android with ADB debugging, just do a adb reboot bootloader.
5. Pick firmware file and click next.
THe first 2 times I tried this, It hanged at the last second. Third time was a charm. Give it time. Use a good USB cable.
I assume that this is the same way to flash other firmware files for other devices.
As soon as i get my hands on a android one firmware, I will flash it.
Or if anyone can guide me on how to extract the firmware on my TA-1045 USA version and flash it to my TA-1054 Chinese , let me know. Cheers.
Google drive folder with all the files I uploaded.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NbzO6lfSGacjM2wqrtBg3jMpljsZswne
Thanks bro...I am downloading it.
PL2-2380-0-00WW-B01.NBx.zip is global firmware name. firmware size is 4gb.
thanks! for extract is with nb0 tools FIH Mobile v3.4
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cSgjrZUxIsN7oLbo7AP-RnILDZdswmB-
its android one firmware. I have no tool for flash...plz try and let me know
Flashing now. Will report back after flashing is done. thanks!!
Edit: Looks like the version I have for OST does not read NBX files. Will try to update that and report back. I have ntool but no working username password
I cannot flash the NBX file. I changed it to nb0 but OST LA says cannot read firmware. Is there any other way to flash?
EDIT: I went ahead and purchased a bunch of credits for NTOOL.
I will flash and see if it works!
It fails with the mdtp.img partition (no such partition) . I would think that it would just skip that partition but it did not. I will later try to extract and flash separately
For some reason when I try to flash the golabl firmware using ntool, my bootloader gets locked after the mdtp flashing fails and I have to re-unlock my bootloader and flash the original 7.1 chinese firmware using the OLD version of OST. ( the new one kept saying firmware corrupt)
When I bought the credits for Ntool, I also got access to the downloads section so I will be uploading all the firmwares they have, ( there is like 5 different ones)
I was reading how the nokia &+ users are converting their chinese variants to global variants using the android P beta rom.
We also have a P beta rom so I will be trying to install that to see if it works or not.
As some of you may realize, I am determined to make this happen! The reason is because my USA android One version has only 3gb of ram but the chinese version comes with 4GB.

can u flash my chinese rom which is nbo format via ntool. I have have ntool but i dont have user name, password, i downloaded rom which u provide.my device still cant connect to mobile data.
NBX format only works on Ntool. but Ntool needs working user name and password to works. OST cant read or flash Nbx format.
if u get Ntool with working user id .. then plz flash my device also via remote mode like teamviewer.
Ntool Bricked my device. the only real restore you can do is by using ost with the stock chinese firmware. edit your apn. why is your data not working?
Global rom cant flash via ntool in Ta1054..showed error in partition. if it will be solved then china to global will be easy process..
I'm eagerly watching your progress. I'm in the same boat sitting on a TA-1054 wanting to get on Oreo without chinese firmware :x
Keep up the good work. It is really appreciated!

Actually, the one in the mena topic was corrupted for me.
I have uploaded a good version in the first post of this thread. I've only had success flashing it wih OST.
But yesterday Ntool bricked my phone. No download mode, no screen, no usb recognition with windows. I am not really sure what to do now. If i can't get my pc to recognize it then the phone might be dead./ I may do a warranty exchange when i go visit china next month but if they check my bootloader, they will void my warranty. anyone know how to unbrick?
Also. The nokia 7+ forums said that if you flash the android P beta rom, then the chinese vaqriant becomes gloabl.
I went ahead and downloaded the android P beta for 6.1 but now that the phone is bricked I can't really test anything. I will sell my extra 1045 before i get curious and brick that too.

Also, I own a TA-1054 model and I am in India. I ordered it from Amazon. It had Android One Oreo firmware preinstalled before I messed up and got loops. Later I flashed a GSI to at least boot it up.

There is an option to install google play store, but that would make your rom unable to receive updates.

Question Working guide to downgrade from android 12 to 11 anyone?

Is there anybody out there that successfully downgraded their device without having it rooted?
Need a step by step guide please.
its not possible anymore....i tried from A10 back to A9 at my Xperia 1 and no success at all
so stop wasting your time on it
Question of downgrade Android 12 to Android 11
Hello anyone, I am the new comer of the XDA. Nice to meet you here. Let move on to my questions. I have a HK version Xperia 1 III(XQ-BC72), and I love the device. However after I received and upgraded to Android 12(61.1.A.1.149), the nightmare...
forum.xda-developers.com
I managed to find a single mirror of an android 11 firmware file for Xperia 5 III by googling "XQ-BQ62 61.0.A.15.45 customized us ftf". This is the ONLY android 11 firmware I could find.
Extract contents into a directory mirroring the structure you'd see if downloading firmware from exafirm. You should have a standalone boot folder and all .sin files extracted into this directory (including unzipped partition .sin files). Delete ALL .ta files. Execute with newflasher.
I don't have time to walk thru every step but I can confirm I was able to downgrade from Android 12 to 11 using 61.0.A.15.45 ftf and newflasher without root. My bootloader is unlocked but honestly shouldn't need to be if using newflasher.
BIG THANKS to the kind soul who uploaded this ftf!!
This doesn't seem to work on XQ-BQ72 (Xperia 5 III) Android 12. Unless your steps had something specific while flashing via newflasher.

I have xq-bq62. I can only confirm this works for this model.
I am sure your unlocked bootloader helped in this case but I can't confirm as i tried the BQ72 firmwares also from that androidfilehost's user link but neither worked (mine is a locked bootloader, fyi). So I am assuming there is some tiny/unknown setting that worked in your favor.

Were the firwmares .ftf? How you set up your working directory for newflasher is very important (based on my limited experience with sony devices...this is my first).

BQ72, from what I can tell, is the same as BQ62 except for what i'm guessing are a few changes in enabled network bands.
Also, newflasher shouldn't require a bootloader unlock. Only the offical sony flash tool would require that. Someone correct me if i'm wrong because like I said this is my first xperia device.
Yes, the firmwares were .ftf and I followed all the steps you mentioned in your post. Upon trying to flash with newflasher, it would return an error while flashing the partition blocks and would return FAIL FAIL in newflasher. None of the BQ72 Android 11 .ftf worked from the same user's file that you used for your BQ62.

Try flashing the xq-bq72 android 11 firmware which is MUCH easier to find than my US variant (xq-bq62).
Newflasher again.

After some technical difficulties, I've managed to copy these instructions pretty well. Newflasher seemed to have completed the process, yet my phone's firmware was still corrupt on a bootloop.
I had my bootloader unlocked as well. I've since locked it and restored back to Android 12 through Xperia Companion. I'm not sure what could have caused a problem.
Some points of interest:
1. I've kept all .sin files from the boot folder in that folder
2. All .sin files from the partition folder were moved to the parent folder where everything else should be (ex. Newflasher files)
3. Partition_delivery.xml was kept in the partition folder
4. The .ftf for Android 11 was also moved to the parent folder
I grabbed the most recent Android 12 files from XperiFirm (specifically 61.1.A.9.219). Is there a difference in those files that would make this rollback impossible?
Also running an XQ-BQ62.

I was running in to the same issues myself, the only available .ftf I could find for the XQ-BQ62 didn't work without modification (For reference, I was running the same 61.1.A.9.219 firmware) I attached my update.xml in case it differs from yours. What may have ended up making it work was zipping the contents of the partition folder to match bhow11's screenshot, I added the partition_delivery.xml to it as well. I'm unsure what exactly made this all work, but it does now.
I recently purchased the Sony Xperia 5 III and the first thing I had in mind was to unlock it since my 2012 HTC was probably the last phone I rooted, and my Xperia XZ3 wasn't as root-friendly with irreversible DRM loss and all.
When I got to the part about flashing the Xperifirm boot with Magisk, I wondered how my old 61.0x firmware would work with a new 61.1 boot. Nobody had asked this. I don't know if I was wrong but I also assumed there would be no way to backup my old firmware if the bootloader is locked. I didn't even know about A11/A12 (XZ3 had Android 9). So fearing a boot-loop I flashed the latest full firmware first. I fully regret it.
It's crazy how mad Android 12 makes me. All the love of Android is sucked out. I'm really sad too that this is a current trend. A12 kinda looks like early 2010s Windows Phone now.
Since my firmware is the Europe EEA will I never regain Android 11 except for a GSI or buying a brand new phone?
in my opinion downgrad never worked since Android 10 on my Xperia's
i tried many many hours at my Xperia 1 to go back to Android 9 but no succes

Due to ugly design, which starts from 40% bigger and not transparent security pattern screen.
u kidding me.....are u.!
u'll buy a new one just due the ugly OS design.
did u never try to get information about a new system before updating your system.?

I bought used phone. I'm scratching them a lot, so don't want to be upset of it. I haven't even asked which version they had, because I haven't knew that piece of **** loaded there!

Question Android 13

Z flip 4 is supposed to get OneUI 5.0 with A13 in November, but it just received the November security patch without A13. Do you think that A13 will get delayed for our phone?
I read here that beta 2 was released recently. Usually they will issue beta 3 before it will be final. So yes, I can see the A13 can be delayed till December.
But that's no biggie really. Not that much changed from A12 to A13 anyway.
Beta 4 ZVK3 is under testing at the moment
I am still stuck in beta 1 ZVK9. I manually load this one, after that, keep looking for beta 2, 3 and 4 now. No luck. For those if you are still in A12, maybe be patient. Google Pay won't work in beta software, I don't see other issues.

Oh, good to know.
I guess my part regarding delay is irrelevant then.
What about performance? Any significant variances against A12? How's the battery life?

No massive changes, but does seem snappier. Ram Memory management is improved over A11 in my opinion.
Battery life for me is exactly the same.
Has anyone managed to get the firmware file or the fetch the ota update file, for the US model, for the stable release yet?
I too, curiously any one (service/model) combination in US get official A13 update?
I have F721U1 directly purchased from samsung.com. I am with US mobile service (VZW MVNO). I manually apply A13 beta 1. Phone runs fine and does not hit any issues as I am aware in my usage pattern.
However, Gpay won't work with beta SW. Keep googling without any luck for official download Link. Tired for read all different web site post update screen and news announcement. None of them has download link.
Missed previous Pixel phones, Google post Full and OTA as soon as they announce update news. I can always download and apply myself.
Maybe a couple days more.....

The Z Flip 4 and fold 4 got the update a few hours ago in Korea, so hopefully it should be coming for the US models very soon.
You may have to end up flashing the SM-F721U firmware instead of the SM-F721U1 firmware, as the U firmware typically becomes available before the U1 firmware, if I remember correctly. In order to flash the U firmware over the U1 firmware, you need to use a patched version of Odin, here's the link for that - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/patched-odin-3-13-1.3762572/ and make sure to download the file named "Odin3 v3.14.1_3B. The process of flashing is identical to normal Odin, and if you want to keep your data make sure to flash the HOME_CSC and not the standard CSC file
Thank you. I will try it when I find download link.

I knew that u1 is the Google Fi version. But what exactly is the software different between the two? You can use non fi sim card on an u1.
Flashed One UI 5 yesterday. From the SM-F721B EUX to SM-F721B SRI, dirty flash.
Worked fine, it feels a little more smooth but I was expecting more changes tbh.
EUX upgrade live today for me.
One day later for me. Also EUX.

The only difference between the two is the carrier (U) firmware has carrier specific features, not apps, that aren't in the unlocked (U1) firmware. For example, people who have AT&T as their carrier, such as myself, can get AT&T's 5G+ an I have no idea what AT&T's 5G+ even is. Also the U1 version isn't the Google Fi version, I'm guessing when you buy a Google Fi Z flip they use the unlocked variant and just put a sim card inside of it.

In case you haven't found it yet, and one UI 5 is out, you can use samloader, which is a terminal/command line tool that allow you to download firmware straight from Samsung's servers. On Linux it is as simple as running pip install git+https://github.com/samloader/samloader.git and on windows I don't know what to do as I don't primarily use it. The only Idea I have is to download python for windows, clone the repository and copy the files to the same directory of python.exe.
The command to download the firmware using samloader - samloader -m SM-F721U -r TMB -v F721USQU1BVK3/F721UOYN1BVK3/F721USQU1BVK3/F721USQU1BVK3 -o <name of file, e.g. flip4-oneui5.zip or SM-F721U-OneUI5.zip>
