I have a couple Amazon Fire HD8 (2018) and was sad to learn, just now, that while the older devices had the ability to do screen mirroring/display mirroring this feature was removed for "newer" devices.
Is there any way to get this functionality back? I've used Fire Toolbox to get google services onto my tablet along with a couple other things, but on the handful of mirroring apps I've looked at it tells me "This device is not supported." I'm uncertain if this is a hardware issue (such as the kindle lacking a chip that can do wireless casting) or a software issue (where Amazon removed a specific system file). Has anyone found a way to fix this?

You can mirror your Fire tablet screen with a Google Cast devices such as Chromecast and Android TV (Chromecast built-in).
1. Download Google Home app on Google Play store
2. After its installed, open Google Home app.
3. Make sure you have connected to the same network.
4. Select your device you want to mirror?

I have a same model as yours that I have tested on my 4K Android TV (Chromecast built-in) but the sounds didn't capture.

So that is half the solutions, thanks! But what about true device mirroring? For example, what if I wanted to be able to view my android screen on a windows PC?

Hello everyone, long time lurker at XDA but this is my first post in the forums.
I recently stumbled across android stick PCs and immediately knew I needed one. My main goal is to replace my WD live hub with one of these and use it for media streaming from windows shares over wifi. But then I stumbled on yet another Android stick called the GV-21 on ebay and then in a review I found out there was an app that let you use your android phone / tablet as a remote INCLUDING the ACCs / gyros for motion controlled games. I started wondering if the other devices I am considering (iMito MX1 and MK808) could use this app.
As near as I can tell the GV-21 uses an app called biggifi, the client apk can be downloaded from the manufactures site; not sure if its the same client that is in the play store or a modded one. I could not find the host apk anywhere online and it sounds like it is either built into the ROM or kernel anyway.
The GV-21 uses a Nufront NS115 CPU where as the other devices I'm using run RK3066 CPUs. Not sure if that would affect the use of this motion control app or not. The app I'm talking about along with the firmware for the stick is located at kimdecent.com/application/107.html
Questions:
Has anyone purchased one of these GV-21's or T21s (appear to be the same)
Will the GV-21 motion control app work on other android sticks?
Anyone used biggifi? Is it worth worrying about?
Thanks for any help and sorry for the long first post; wanted to give as much info as possible. If anyone has any suggestions regarding which stick to go with, Im open to advice on that as well.
There's a similar app called droidmote that works on these sticks, including the MX 1/2. Geekbuying have also made their own which they send you for free if you buy from them. The server component is built into their firmware. It works well, although gyroscope doesn't work for me, as my phone doesn't have one!

I've heard about the geekbuying one but couldn't find if it supported motion control or not.
Also looked at droidmote and was concerned about a couple comments of it using a lot of LAN bandwidth as well as some people saying it didn't work on a couple of various devices. Might have to install it on my tab and phone to test it out.
Right now I'm leaning towards the imito device I think. Seems like it has more support and common hardware then the gv-21 and the mk808 is lacking BT. Its a tough choice tho.

The above pictures are also the freely available mk802III remote app you can get from the play store. I've got it installed and it works well but have just tried installed a g sensor app and couldn't get it to work. That said I only tried 1 app with the mk802III app.

Hi guys I need help, ideas and opinion on this. I want to have my own personal console system refer to the diagrams below.

The first setup is that I have a rooted P3100 then paired it with Sixaxis, then connect P3100 to my TV of whatever method using HDMI or AV then run an emulator into my tab, eg. ePSXe for android, and play the game.
The second setup is just like the first but there is no TV. I want this setup if ever I'm away from home and I want to play games wherever and whenever I want.
Now the question is, what cable or any method to connect P3100 to my TV (AV or HDMI). I'm aware that there is no HDMI support on this tab but I found some speculation that it can be possible thru AV please refer to this images.

And lastly do this setup is doable? Thanks in advance.
To my knowledge the tab 2 7" cannot do video out period

I'm also very sad to learn that there is no HDMI out from the P3110 (which is the model I just bought off of amazon), as well as the P3100.
If you have interest in what you've described, you could look into the Ouya and the upcoming Dell Ophelia project. Neither are obviously free, but they will do what you want generally.
Good luck!
Matt
Hi all!
I've been using Amazon Fire TV for a while. It's a good machine, but I'm tired of them blocking Kodi/Firestarter, introducing ads, and refusing to fix bugs and provide support if you have Kodi installed. I also want something that's got DVB T-2 built in.
Requirements:
- Android
- Fast & good image quality/rendering
- NO FAN
- DVB T-2 built in
- Good quality & simple remote like the Fire TV one, or the possibility of adding it separately
I mostly use it for streaming, playing local videos, Netflix, Amazon music.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!
:fingers-crossed:
Hi there, I just got my hands on a KII Pro TV Box 2G 16G Android 5.1 Amlogic S905 Quad-core 4K*2K 2.4G&5G Wifi Bluetooth 4.0 Androidtvbox from alibaba. It's the best spec I could find on a DVB-T2 tuner box, also has DVB-S2 tuner.
Not too much info on it around the web and the sellers of these types of boxes here in Ireland seem to still be selling last years models.
It's running Android 5.1.1, 16gb of storage of which 10gb are available, 2gb of ram, 4 USB ports, a wireless keyboard (which has a very poor touch pad) and an IR remote control. It comes rooted and has kodi 16 preinstalled which I had to uninstall it completely to be able to get kodi 17 on there.
Another little annoyance with it was the DTV app that is used to control the DTV t2 and s2 when I was first setting it up I couldn't find anything for the with the DTV t2 automatic scan and this kept saying it was scanning for Europe and it doesn't look like there is any options but on the IR remote there is a menu button and clicking this brought up the settings to be able to pick what region and other options, once I changed to uk it picked up the channels. On other thing is that you need to come out of the DTV app to switch between t2 and s2.
So far so good for my needs but only have it since last Friday so not sure about shelf life. Below is a link to where I bought it plus some photos of what came in the package and the interface. Also it has PVR but I've yet to test this. Image quality is really good but I'm coming from a dreambox for my dvb s2 which didn't support hd channels.

Both my wife and I have a Pixel 2 (non-XL). Both are on 8.1 with the December security update. Prior to the 8.1 update, we both could happily cast YouTube, Netflix, and photos from Google Photos without issue to our smart TVs and our Chromecast Ultras. Yesterday, I discovered that all that has changed since the 8.1 update. We can only cast YouTube to our TVs and Chromecast Ultras now. We cannot cast Netflix at all, nor is there an option to cast photos anymore. We cannot cast our screen via the cast shortcut found in the swipe down menu. Also, when I go view nearby devices to cast to in the Android settings...there is nothing listed.
To narrow it down to an issue with the phones: I factory reset the Chromecasts (didn't solve the problem). I factory reset one of the Pixel 2s (didn't solve the problem). Then, using my laptop I was able to cast Netflix just fine to my devices.
I called both Chromecast support and Pixel 2 hardware support. They were unable to fix the issue. Pixel support finally surmised that it is a bug with 8.1 and offered to send both my wife and I phones with 8.0 installed and told us not to update until this issue is fixed. I chose to keep our phones as this option did not seem worth the hassle. However, if no one else is having this issue with their Pixel 2 on the 8.1 update...then I will need to call back and obtain two new devices.
I would appreciate it if this wonderful community would see if they have the same issue or not and report back.
Thanks!

Works fine for me. Have you opened the Google Home app and made sure it's linked to your Google account, or that the cast device is seen there?
Occasionally need to stop and start cast again for google pictures, but it works. Netflix is not a problem.

Dear All,
I bought a oneplus7 not that long ago, and I wanted to play with the so called desktop mode. Idea is, back from work, to put the phone on a dock, being able to use my tv for browsing web with a wireless keyboard/mouse, maybe watch stupid yt video etc. Replacing my old laptop for very basic tasks.
The idea is to buy this 30euros dock station so I can have a convenient way to get internet on my tv :

So before buying any hardware stuff I wanted to know if some of them already played with this mode, does it worth giving a try or is it just too early ?
thx
Nico
So I got a Oneplus 7 and currently running Android 10. I enabled the Desktop Mode in Developers and have tried it out a little bit. For me the it isn't very usable. It is stuck in a certain resolution and I want to change it but haven't figured it out. A guy (who is busy right now until the end of the month) has been working on a launcher to use called Flow Desktop found in Google Play Store. It does have some promises and would love to see his app become more than just a concept right now.

You need the secondscreen app to change the resolution.
BTW it seems that if you want to use [email protected] there's no compatible hub yet.
So i bought a simple adapter and BT keyboard

I don't need 4k. 1080p would be nice. Do you have an app to recommend?
I've got no recommendation, Desktop Mode community is not really active for the moment. (Or a least it's just the beginning)
Here's a little something:

There is a comment about OP7Pro in the post:
"I just received my NexDock, and video works fine following above instructions. I can't figure out how to make keyboard/touchscreen work with my OP7T though. Keyboard/touchscreen work fine with a raspberry pi.
Any ideas?"
With no responses. Sad.
Anyone able and willing to create a modified version of the OnePlus Launcher with the following code implemented?
