Hello everyone, long time lurker at XDA but this is my first post in the forums.
I recently stumbled across android stick PCs and immediately knew I needed one. My main goal is to replace my WD live hub with one of these and use it for media streaming from windows shares over wifi. But then I stumbled on yet another Android stick called the GV-21 on ebay and then in a review I found out there was an app that let you use your android phone / tablet as a remote INCLUDING the ACCs / gyros for motion controlled games. I started wondering if the other devices I am considering (iMito MX1 and MK808) could use this app.
As near as I can tell the GV-21 uses an app called biggifi, the client apk can be downloaded from the manufactures site; not sure if its the same client that is in the play store or a modded one. I could not find the host apk anywhere online and it sounds like it is either built into the ROM or kernel anyway.
The GV-21 uses a Nufront NS115 CPU where as the other devices I'm using run RK3066 CPUs. Not sure if that would affect the use of this motion control app or not. The app I'm talking about along with the firmware for the stick is located at kimdecent.com/application/107.html
Questions:
Has anyone purchased one of these GV-21's or T21s (appear to be the same)
Will the GV-21 motion control app work on other android sticks?
Anyone used biggifi? Is it worth worrying about?
Thanks for any help and sorry for the long first post; wanted to give as much info as possible. If anyone has any suggestions regarding which stick to go with, Im open to advice on that as well.
There's a similar app called droidmote that works on these sticks, including the MX 1/2. Geekbuying have also made their own which they send you for free if you buy from them. The server component is built into their firmware. It works well, although gyroscope doesn't work for me, as my phone doesn't have one!

I've heard about the geekbuying one but couldn't find if it supported motion control or not.
Also looked at droidmote and was concerned about a couple comments of it using a lot of LAN bandwidth as well as some people saying it didn't work on a couple of various devices. Might have to install it on my tab and phone to test it out.
Right now I'm leaning towards the imito device I think. Seems like it has more support and common hardware then the gv-21 and the mk808 is lacking BT. Its a tough choice tho.

The above pictures are also the freely available mk802III remote app you can get from the play store. I've got it installed and it works well but have just tried installed a g sensor app and couldn't get it to work. That said I only tried 1 app with the mk802III app.

Hi guys!
As a lot of other people, I use my PS3 more as a media center / Blu-Ray player, then I'm actually playing on it. Every time I sit down to watch a movie from my media server or a BD-disk, I'm annoyed of how bad the PS3-remote looks. Especially when my beautiful HD2 is always laying next to it.
So:
I was hoping that some of you geniuses here might have the same impression as me, and see the value in a "HD2 PS3 media control"-app, which uses Bluetooth.
I would think that it only needs directional buttons for maneuvering in menus, a OK-button, the "Playstation"-button and the 4 actionbuttons; X, O, [] and /\.
With so many PS3-owners in the world, I'd guess that this application would be quite "sellable" for the developer as well
Cheers, Eirik.
Would like it =D!
HD2 as PS3 media control
Hey
Go to mobilesrc.com and try Mobile Remote. Works pretty well on my Touch Pro 2. Didn't get my HD2 in the mail yet. Might not be exactly what your looking for but it works with the PS3.
hmm.. i'm watching this thread.. this could prove to be interesting..
Hi
Mobile remote is ugly .... and send me an error :10038 (Failed to load driver)
Another idea ?

I asked the dev already, Mobile Remote does not work with HD2 bluetooth stack.
I made a little "mock-up" of how this might look, and would enable us to control most of the PS3's functions with the HD2's brilliant touch screen.
Unfortunately I was neither allowed to post the picture, the link or even put the link to the picture in a code-box :-/
Anybody? ... anything?

I remember reading about some using their hd 2 to browse photos on their ps3 so........
anyone tried gremote?
My Apologizes I forget where I found this. I will update with proper credit if I find it.
This is an early build of XBMC. http://xbmc.org/theuni/2012/07/13/xbmc-for-android/
Considering the early build and that I only have 76 megs of ram free on my KF when Xbmc is idling. This build runs pretty smooth.
Out of the box.
It played .mp4 .avi .m4v like a champ
It played .avi .mp4 that are still in rar packages, over a SMB share from my nexus s like a champ.
It played a (unprotected) rtmp stream .
mms , asx streams no problem.
I didn't mess around with plug-ins too much, but It loaded addons from the desktop version.

I'm going to go try some obscure video formats and see how long it takes to melt my kindle.
Looking sexy on Jelly Bean too.
Wow it works awesome! So can we set this up to stream files ( music, video, etc) from xbmc on my desktop to xbmc on the kindle?

I'm amazed at how smoothly this is running and surprised at its stability. I'm really looking forward to the official release.

Hi there,
You want to do one of two things.
Set up a samba share (the normal network shares in windows) or even better set up a DLNA server. There are programs around to make this super easy. TVersity is my favorite, you just point it towards the folders and let it run, unfortunately its been $4 since version two but if you look around enough you might be able to find a free earlier version.
Once you have done this XBMC will discover them on the network and you can add them as libraries.

I've been using Serviio on my headless linux box to stream online sources through upnp to my fire. I've been able to get hulu content as well using the plugin in the forums. There is also a Windows version; however, I have not tried it.
I just learned about xbmc the other day, now i get to tinker with this.....great post indeed.
I was able to install Navi-X successfully!

Hi there...
I couldn't figure out how to get Navi-X install on KF. 'Cuz every time is says " your device isn't compatible with this version"
Can you tell me how did you get it work? Thank you very much!
My KF is rooted with stock rom 6.3.1.
Updates
Miniand Tech has been compiling updated builds. You can find them here
Edit: New builds may take a minute or 2 on the initial startup. After that the latest launches fine.
Hi all,
I'm building a car PC of sorts using an Android stick and a 6.5" resistive touchscreen. I was using an MK908ii running the standard ROM and although there was plenty of bloatware, it worked quite well. Unfortunately I've managed to brick it and it won't turn on or connect to my laptop. I originally was going to use a nexus 7 because of all the support but the tablet is too big to fit in the centre console of my Mini. The 6.5" touchscreen is a straight swap for the standard sat nav.
So I need a replacement. The MK908ii was the first stick I bought and originally I was just going to use it as a TV input so I thought I'd ask for recommendations from people who know better than I do.
Basic needs:
Android - mainly for the apps - using co-pilot for GPS, Google play for music, YouTube, and emulators for games
Quick start up
Fast loading in general
Custom start up animation would be nice
Ability to permanently mount USB inputs rather than reload on each startup (GPS dongle, USB storage etc)
It uses a custom background with desktop Visualizer to open the apps and tasker controlled what apps were visible/openable depending on WiFi state. The system was controlled by touchscreen until I killed the stick yesterday
Any help in regards to what stick to buy and what ROM to run would be much appreciated!
When I get to 10 posts or whenever then I'll whack up some pics and a video but at the moment I can't!
Adam
Why not one of the newer Android touch screen head units? They seem to be better than the first versions. It would save lots of work. Just load your ROM and install the head unit.

It's going in a 2004 Mini replacing the sat nav screen which is where the giant centre speedo in normal cars are. The space there isn't big enough for a double din unit or even a nexus 7 tablet.
It's also not possible to replace the single din unit with a double din unit unless you have auto climate control which I don't.
I would post up pics to make it all more obvious but apparently I need 10 posts first
Bump!
Anyone? Would like to order a new stick asap
Hey Adam,
Welcome to XDA! If looking to use an Android HDMI Stick would recommend the MK903v for performance and reliability. Mine boots in under 20 seconds and works very well with my touchscreen Pioneer. Take a look at this thread for more info and ideas as there are many options available: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...oid-sticks-t2833303/post61520159#post61520159
Thanks for this! I'll give it a read.
The MK903v is only £40 on gearbest. Is there much bloatware on it? Is there a ROM that works best for it?
Think I finally have enough posts for some pics and a video!

New touch screen replacement

Background when connected to WiFi
Background when not connected to WiFi
And a quick video when I was testing this indoors before the touchscreen adapter turned up
Hey Adam that's screen replacement looks great no regarding the MK903v there isn't much bloatware on it at all. Mine came with an older version of XBMC preinstalled but that app and a few others were easy to replace
Hi all!
I've been using Amazon Fire TV for a while. It's a good machine, but I'm tired of them blocking Kodi/Firestarter, introducing ads, and refusing to fix bugs and provide support if you have Kodi installed. I also want something that's got DVB T-2 built in.
Requirements:
- Android
- Fast & good image quality/rendering
- NO FAN
- DVB T-2 built in
- Good quality & simple remote like the Fire TV one, or the possibility of adding it separately
I mostly use it for streaming, playing local videos, Netflix, Amazon music.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!
:fingers-crossed:
Hi there, I just got my hands on a KII Pro TV Box 2G 16G Android 5.1 Amlogic S905 Quad-core 4K*2K 2.4G&5G Wifi Bluetooth 4.0 Androidtvbox from alibaba. It's the best spec I could find on a DVB-T2 tuner box, also has DVB-S2 tuner.
Not too much info on it around the web and the sellers of these types of boxes here in Ireland seem to still be selling last years models.
It's running Android 5.1.1, 16gb of storage of which 10gb are available, 2gb of ram, 4 USB ports, a wireless keyboard (which has a very poor touch pad) and an IR remote control. It comes rooted and has kodi 16 preinstalled which I had to uninstall it completely to be able to get kodi 17 on there.
Another little annoyance with it was the DTV app that is used to control the DTV t2 and s2 when I was first setting it up I couldn't find anything for the with the DTV t2 automatic scan and this kept saying it was scanning for Europe and it doesn't look like there is any options but on the IR remote there is a menu button and clicking this brought up the settings to be able to pick what region and other options, once I changed to uk it picked up the channels. On other thing is that you need to come out of the DTV app to switch between t2 and s2.
So far so good for my needs but only have it since last Friday so not sure about shelf life. Below is a link to where I bought it plus some photos of what came in the package and the interface. Also it has PVR but I've yet to test this. Image quality is really good but I'm coming from a dreambox for my dvb s2 which didn't support hd channels.

Dear All,
I bought a oneplus7 not that long ago, and I wanted to play with the so called desktop mode. Idea is, back from work, to put the phone on a dock, being able to use my tv for browsing web with a wireless keyboard/mouse, maybe watch stupid yt video etc. Replacing my old laptop for very basic tasks.
The idea is to buy this 30euros dock station so I can have a convenient way to get internet on my tv :

So before buying any hardware stuff I wanted to know if some of them already played with this mode, does it worth giving a try or is it just too early ?
thx

So I got a Oneplus 7 and currently running Android 10. I enabled the Desktop Mode in Developers and have tried it out a little bit. For me the it isn't very usable. It is stuck in a certain resolution and I want to change it but haven't figured it out. A guy (who is busy right now until the end of the month) has been working on a launcher to use called Flow Desktop found in Google Play Store. It does have some promises and would love to see his app become more than just a concept right now.

You need the secondscreen app to change the resolution.
BTW it seems that if you want to use [email protected] there's no compatible hub yet.
So i bought a simple adapter and BT keyboard

I don't need 4k. 1080p would be nice. Do you have an app to recommend?
I've got no recommendation, Desktop Mode community is not really active for the moment. (Or a least it's just the beginning)

There is a comment about OP7Pro in the post:
"I just received my NexDock, and video works fine following above instructions. I can't figure out how to make keyboard/touchscreen work with my OP7T though. Keyboard/touchscreen work fine with a raspberry pi.
Any ideas?"
With no responses. Sad.
