I've been using the stock MIUI for a week and then I switched to Resurrection Remix (I've been using it for 5 days)
Gaming performance on MIUI was good, but adaptive refresh rate was making some games like CoD Mobile lag because refresh rate drops to 30hz when not touching the screen.
I'm currently using Resurrection Remix and I really love it, but performance in CoD Mobile is terrible. It's literally unplayable and the game crashes constantly.
Which ROM has the best performance in games?

there is no best ROM, there is only ROM best for you and you alone can say this is the best ROM for me because this or that, so test f.e. NOS11 or ArrowOS with custom kernel Sonic X, Stormbreaker, F1xy etc. and you will see what is best for you

I know that there's no "best ROM".
Everyone has their own preferences.
I was just asking for the best ROMs for gaming performance (that can be measured with benchmarks and FPS monitoring, and it's not a matter of personal preference)
And thanks for the answer. I'm gonna try those 2 ROMs and those kernels.

Well I Been tested a lot of roms on xiaomi Devices I found that the stock Miui and Xiaomi.Eu roms the best for gaming experience. Otherwise you will need to "Find the Best Kernel" for any AOSP roms cause in these roms gaming experience will follow the best Kernel not the rom
Also, there is a fix for refresh rate. You need to open settings > display > refresh rate and change it to 60, then go to settings > apps and ensure you are showing system apps.
Navigate to the battery & optimisation app and clear data. Then change the refresh rate to 120, it'll now stick in all apps.

Now that Pokemon Go was released. I was wondering which rom is in fact, the fastest, especially for gaming. Doesn't matter which android it is, 5.0, 5.1 or 6.
Is it omni rom, exodus, slim? CM is a bit slower than AOSP roms, as far as I have noticed.
What's your opinion on this topic? Any help would be appreciated.
I am using CM 13 from about one week and its the fastest for me. But I changed kernel. Now I have KaminariKernel and I overclocked CPU and GPU. Also I change i/o to bfq. Do you want some ss from my Kernel Adiutor?
yes, I play Pokemon GO on Moto G and its working very well But AR MODE is not working :/
ID crisis 6>AOSP CAF > OMNI> Slim>CM
just my opinion.
I did a Geekbench 3 test previously.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/moto-g-falcon-geekbench-3-test-roms-t3379663
In fact, I further performed the test on all available ROMs that I can find for Moto G (Falcon) which I didn't post here at XDA as I found out that the difference between the "top performers" and "low performers" is less than 2%, which I conclude as insignificant.
Hence, it's my opinion that there's no fastest or slowest ROM, only stable or not, or whether feature-rich (like DU, RR) or stock-like (Omni, Slim, Exodus).

In my opinion the IDC6 is not the fastest
To be fair, IDC6 includes a Stock Kernel not optimized for performance. To unlock the ROMs potential, you need to flash KaminariKernel. I suspect most custom ROMs include a Kernel that has been tweaked for performance.

but sir, battery drain beside performance is also an important thing I think. id crisis 6 stock kernel does the job perfectly. butter.
Well, since I wrote this, I moved from the latest exodus to the latest 6.0 omni rom. And well, the difference is massive. No offence to the exodus, but this is like a night and day. Pokemon Go runs great, battery life is solid, overall performance is snappy and fast (it feels like a stock rom back in the day). Thanks for the tips lads!
Thanks SlashSpeed, I am using RRemix and I find Pokemon GO unplayable after a short time, overheats and starts runnning really slowly. I will try omni rom. Although I am not expecting miracles, the 1gb RAM will always hold this phone back
I love this phone and it has been the perfect phone for me until Pokemon GO came out
EDIT: I do not see a Omni rom for the Moto G 4g
Anyone know what the fastest rom would be for Moto G 4g (perigrine)?
I am not worried about battery life, mostly performance.
I recently switched to marshmellow, first on Omnirom (with kaminari kernel) and now on ID6 (always with kaminari kernel). Not even comparable, Omnirom is smooth in daily use, but for gaming ID6 is incredible, it doesn't look even like a moto g anymore, compared to the laggy stock or the (speaking about gaming) Omni...
So I want to know the best combination of a ROM and Kernel that would really improve gaming on the moto g 3rd gen and also be good with multiple apps open. The battery has do be good enough as I still want a decent battery life because after all It's going to be my daily driver.
I also prefer a CM rom since I love the CM theme engine and I do not like OMS or Layers.
current nightly CM13 is snappy, i dont know about other roms
I've gone through many of them. RR (vatsal) is my preference. Fire kernel. Best IMO

Do you have any specific kernel settings and which fire kernel version? Im on RR but not vatsals but im willing to switch. Ur on 7.3?
ROM should mostly be irrelevant here, any stable one should be fine... Kernel will make the difference. For smooth gaming use an OC kernel, but it will be at the expense of battery life. You won't gain significant performance and battery life, it's one way or the other, battery life at the expense of performance or vis-versa.

Yes. Latest RR. Lionfish , zram 1000 2 cores active, alucard, min 200 in GPU. Fire kernel. 128/256
Looking For the Best Rom In terms of Good Battery life and Customization ?
I still find rooted stock room with one of the custom kernels ( I find EX or freak's kernel best for my use) the best. Most custom ROMs plague from android system taking too much wake cycles.
I have done PureNexus and OctOS with custom kernels and have battery life out of this world. 6-7 hours screen time is not uncommon. Both are great ROMs. Performance is pretty much perfect on either. This phone may have reached the pinnacle of speed in a phone. I've yet to see if stutter or lag once in my 2 months with it. Unreal.
My next ones to try are Dirty Unicorns and the Remix one (I think that's the name?).
By the way, Franco kernel has been my favorite so far. I paired that with EX Kernel manager and I'm in phone heaven.
Honestly don't see any real reason to go beyond stock for myself.

Just root, install some mods, freeze some apps, and you're good to go!
Hi, I have my OPO running LineageOS right now, it runs pretty good but I have some problems with it. Wi-Fi doesn't work good, even games like CarX Drift Racing are laggy. So, I know this question may be asked 100 hundred times in a row and I'm sorry for asking it again but what config (Custom ROM, Kernel and etc.) is best for OPO?

I've no issues with Lineage Os when Gaming, try tweaking it with a custom kernel.
Honestly there is no right answer. I've tried other people's suggestions that "work the best" and I have problems on my phone. Your best bet is to try out different ROMs with various kernels. For instance people usually recommend to try RR (resurrection remix) Rom and lightning kernel. I'm using it right now and have force close problems and lags.
It's up to the user discretion. Everyone has his own taste, I personally prefer LOS with Boeffla kernel.
I'm also on Official LOS with close to no real issues.
But one thing bothers me: i have the impression, that the camera was better on sultans cm, which i used before. currently i use bacon camera app, but i'm not really satisfied. what do you guys think gives the best camera performance on opo?
e: oh and the flash is not that bright as before^^
NitrogenOS is best, balance battery and performance and camera is good
Camera + Battery + Underclocking
Hi guys,
can you give me any recommendations on a rom / kernel config, which gives you the best battery life &/or better camera results.
I also read about underclocking. Do you recommend doing this when prioritizing a good camera and battery life?
I only use my smartphone for whatsapp and reddit most of the time. No gaming and very rarely social media.
Right now i'm using latest nightly LOS Oreo and get my battery replaced soon.
Hello Friends, I am creating this thread so that we will discuss with each other our mods, ROM and kernel version and any such settings to improve the performance of PUBG. You can all share your opinions here and apply to others settings. According to me, the best performance I have received at this time from corvus rom and lawrun kernel 11 B4.

Yup the main problem is with pubg new update but u can try lawrun kernel. This kernel is great in terms of performance
Yes really working bro thank you so much
I have tried almost all the custom ROMS and kernels. Mixed them with one another but at the end of the, I have stuck with the Official MIUI 11.0.6.0 with NoGravity Kernel. I even tried various versions of Seshtation but of no luck, it gives performance but too much of frame drops.
I will give a shot for Corvus ROM and Lawrun Kernel as OP says its working smoothly on his mobile.

Guys good news, yesterday lawrun 11 has been released and there is no doubt that this kernel is very good. This is beast for pubg, i tested it my self and impressed so so much with pubg performance. Must try this kernel, and i m using it with corvus latest build.
Kernel https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development/kernel-lawrun-kernel-v3-t4037729/page27
Rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development/rom-corvus-rom-t4073433/page17
I don't play Pubg, but you think it may have something to do with poco screen touch issue?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/help/screen-test-comparison-t4081117

MIUI 11.0.8 ruined it all. Pubg totally sucks. I'm getting around 30-40 fps in Smooth+Extreme and that too in the lobby of the very first match let alone the actual match. Been using it for 20 months now and never experienced my F1 crying this much in pubg. Used to easily get around 57-60 fps always and what actually funny is that I was one of those who thought that people whining about frame drops were whining for nothing because I never had those frame drop issues on my F1 and here we are, this new update 11.0.8 ruined it all.

First of all u need to unlock your boot loader and a custom recovery.
After that search on xda or google lawrun and open site. If u are on android pie then download pie version. There are two build of lawrun kernel, one is Sk(stock build) other is oc(over clocked). I prefer over clocked version. If u want more details and queries please join telegram group https://t.me/LawRunKernel

Try Aex rom+lawrun kernel. I get constant 60 fps even in custom rooms where 25-30 enemies in last circle and temp not increase more then 44.

I have stopped playing pubgm, no matter which ROM you use, whichever kernel you flash. The game freezes when there are too many players nearby or at close-combat. Horrible device to play a game like this. Also pubgm with every other update has been a pain in ass. Too big of a game and the same old pattern. Stop playing the game and try something else.
