I reflashed a stock image on my s3 now I want to reflash stock with root. When I put my sim card in it the s3 wants to update the system..right now I have the note 2 if I take my sim card out of the note 2 and put it in my s3 just to update it then root it, will the update in my s3 mess my sim card up to where I cant use it correctly in my note 2? Its for a family memeber so theyre goin to put their sim in and I dont want them to erase the root by updating .
Sorry if this is a little confusing..
Thanks..

I'm not QUITE sure what you're trying to say, but I'll try my best to respond.
SIM cards shouldn't affect ANYTHING beyond telling the phone what carrier to operate on. If you update the phone itself, that's the phone's software. Nothing on the SIM should be touched. If you want to update a phone using the service from a SIM card (The GS3 in your case), the GS3 will recognize your service and download/install the update.
While the update may include new radios, etc. the update shouldn't mess up your SIM to the point of it not working on any phone.
I hope I helped. If you need anything else just ask.

You'll be fine. I picked up a lg spectrum locally and use the sin from my s3 to activate it just to take the ics ota. Put it back into my s3 without a problem. I actually for a week I would swap to the lg When at work and back when I left and never had a problem.

I just got a samsung droid charge sch-i510 model foir verizon i need to be able to use it with my t mobil SIM card im having trouble finding the .tar new operating sytem to root he phone any other way to get the results im looking for?
Hello all! I believe what I am trying to do is possible, but I am having trouble figuring out exactly where I should start.
I just bought a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 model SCH-I535 with a clear ESN on Ebay and am hoping to get it working with my Straight Talk service. It is running 4.0.4. Will I need to update? Is rooting required? I have tried updating manually but it failed. Is there a universal android 4.1.2 (or other) firmware file I need or do I need a file specifically for my phone?
The phone came with a Verizon sim card, and the phone I am currently using on ST does not have a sim card, so I am assuming that I will need to buy an AT&T sim card, right? Then I can activate that sim onto my ST account? Then the rest is a matter of the proper settings?
Thank you all for your expertise.
My photon q has been modded with the sim card slot. I have flashed it, rooted (running Cyanogen), and did the NV edit. For some reason when i put my sim card in it says no service...:l it recognizes a sim but it is stuck on CDMA instead of GSM. Ive heard a bunch of different ways to fix this..all seem extremely confusing! is there anyone who has a guide or tutorial on what to do from this point? Ill even ship it to someone to fix at this point, i just want this phone to work! XDA has been an awesome community for help and support I appreciate the help beforehand! Thanks!
I bought my dad a J700P about 6 months ago and planed to replace his existing phone with Straight Talk. I swore I found a guide that said this was possible back when I bought it but I'm not able to find any information about doing it now.
I have the latest TWRP recovery installed and its fully rooted. I bought a ST Nano Sim card and have that installed but its telling me invalid sim card. What do I need to do next?
Hardware Version:
J700P.03
Android Ver 6.0.1

Ok, I just discovered that for some reason I ended up with an AT&T sim card instead of one for Sprint. (Which I am assuming is what I need for this, originally on virgin mobile.) Not sure if that'll solve everything but figure I need to get that fixed first anyways.
Yeah if you can get a SPR SIM card it should be a plug 'n play deal.
