Well I want to be able to use my A10s to last me as many years as possible, and I also want android 11 early. So my plan was to root it which someone already did for me. Then install twrp to flash a gsi of android 11. The benefit would also be potential 64 bit support as well (if I can get a 64 bit gsi working). And maybe doing this will motivate other XDA developers with this phone to create proper custom roms for it.

[Q] How to check custom ROM compatibility?

How can I check if a custom ROM is compatible with my phone?
Is it only compatible on a certain phone?
I have a Cherry Mobile Burst, And sadly I can't find a custom ROM for my unit. So I'm asking if there are other custom ROM that I can use??
Thanks!!! :crying:
The only real way is to make sure it specifically states that it IS for your device. If you cannot find one for your device, then you can try to develop one. Even the identical chipset will have different hardware that make the ROMs incompatible.
If it does not say "This ROM is for XXX device" then don't flash it, that's my advice.

I doubt it because there is a lot of work that goes into developing a ROM, like hours and hours, so usually phones that not many people have don't really get it, because why develop for a phone that 20 people own when you can develop for one that thousands or millions of people own.
Keep looking, there may a custom ROM out there, does your phone go by another name? Like an actual model number?

There are no developers that own that device, if they did then there would be ROMs for it.
There is no point in asking or waiting for developers to make ROMs for this device because it will never happen.
You've got a low end device that no one is interested in developing for, you'll have to learn to do it yourself if you want ROMs, that's the only way you'll get ROMS for this device.

Request Twrp kernel for any device

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy J3 and would like to get TWRP ported to it if possible! I either have or should be able to get the files you need, how do I get them to you though? I have the stock odin flashable firmware, and links a few helpful people on XDA provided for kernel source and such. Let me know if you can help me with this and where we should start, I'm more than willing to use my device to test whatever you come up with!
Galaxy J3!!!
Any word yet on if this is a possibility? Am very interested in getting TWRP for this device. It's a pretty amazing phone especially for the price, so hopefully more people will pick it up later on. I can't imagine my old Desire 510 having more support than this thing!
I would PM you to see if you've caught the messages to this post but haven't seeing as you asked us not too. Feel free to PM me if you want (anyone who has some info on the J3, please do so actually.
Man I wish I knew how to do this stuff. I'd totally make a full root and port twrp right away and share it with you guys. I hate that that one mod called it an obscure device. Why? Because it's cheaper than the s6 but basically has all the same functions? If you could overclock/underclock on que it would be freaking badass.

Agreed, 100%, which is why I hope the OP catches our posts and decides to help us out. It's probably the best new phone offered by virgin mobile (not sure if boost has it/is getting it) in terms of price and features. Hell, their next best phone after it is the S5 i think, and it's not even shipped with lollipop as far as I know, plus a significant price gouge for nothing significantly different? No thank you. I mean come on, the Desire 510 had tons of support and that thing was absolutely horrible.

Android Go :V

There is still any dev for janice? :silly:
As some of u know, Google is going to release Android Go based on 8.0/8.1 which should work fine on 0,5GB devices, maybe second life for janice?

I think Janice still have some devs on, there was someone working on a 7.1 ROM, maybe we can have hope

I understand, don't worry. :good:
I am disposed to take part in the collect, considering how much as now an s advance costs, wouldn't be so hard to get quickly the money and with very little effort for all.
I think that is a good idea and can really give a new life to our device.
Obviously a spare s advance of a willing and generous user would be the best thing we can hope in, but seems really hard to happen, however, my hope isn't died yet
Maybe on weekend i'll look into what changes are needed to run atleast nougat on it (from source), if this'll work then we'll think about Oreo xD

If you're really interested, I'd suggest to look at the Oreo rom of Chrono:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-ace/ace-2-develop/rom-lineageos-15-0-t3678722
and to look at the Chrono Kernel (compatible with janice but with some bugs):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...tom-kernel-t2793420/post74179403#post74179403
Ace II has the same chip of S Advance (with some code differences) and the dev is very helpful to explain how it works.
Two guys in the same project would be better than one guy on a single project.
As far as I know @sm_adil doesn't reply to any PM and Epirex is busy on his Moto phone.

Yes I agree two or more dev contributing to the same project will be good!!
However if you consider me as fully fledged dev you're wrong I'm more of web developer than android or java. I did build couple of kernel's for testing my skills but than again they were not so stable and I didn't had time to debug it!!
So yeah if get the time I do want to build a ROM for Janice :fingers-crossed:
I've got a Janice right here that I don't use. I'm actually looking right now for a way to root it and install whatever superior than the Gingerbread ROM it currently has, but the point is that it's available for testing purposes. Btw, is it possible to leave a phone number here?

Hi Isaak,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S Advance. I have been looking if anyone developing Android Go support for it. Found your post on the thread, https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s-advance/general/android-t3714953/page2
I want to learn how roms are built and I would like to support in developing Android Go rom for S Advance, if possible. Can you please guide me where I can start?
As per my experience, I have built a modified linux kernel with some modified device drivers and was able to boot it with a debian root filesystem on Freescale SabreLite board. But never built an android rom earlier.
Thanks

You could start from one of these tutorials:
https://nathanpfry.com/category/android/
I'm not good at compiling, I tried it and didn't like it. So I can't help you more than that.
For this reason, with the help of some xda users, I have donated a S Advance to @ChronoMonochrome.
Currently he's actively developing a new kernel and a new rom in this section:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s-advance/development
I think we could expect more roms with higher android versions, so your feedback is important.

where can I find out the custom rom for my mobile phone Huawei Y7 prime? olehanaspain
Why not you guys search on Google may be in stackoverflow or github you will find out your desired Custom ROM for y7....
It seems Huawei has fallen victim to the belief that they can produce apps that are better than native Android Oreo. The Huawei Y7 2019 is only marred by the abortion that is EMUI. A custom ROM would be great! The only other issue is how to bypass the locked bootloader. I have a python script that I got online that looks promising, which does a brute force attack, but pretty pointless without a replacement ROM.

Galaxy tab4 sm t230 updated firmware

Hi guys
I'm looking to update the firmware on this old tablet as it's a bit out of date and a bit sluggish it's been a long time since I've rooted or flashed anything android. I own a Linux satellite receiver and have flashed firmware images bootloader etc so hoping this will help me. I'm basically looking for a guide from start to finish to bring this tablet a bit more up to date, hope somebody can point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

What to download is in the thread (rom, gapps and twrp), and you can find instructions all over the internet. I've wrote something in my thread of lineage 16 and twrp on how to install them (lineage 16 has the same instructions as the other ROMs I've linked you) too. What I advice you is to understand well what you have to do before doing everything. Otherwise, it can happen that you'll come back and say: "device doesn't boot anymore, what to do now?"
Yes I'm trying to gather as much information as I can so as to avoid any problems when I actually try to do the flash process. I will read up some more.
Thanks again

Hi, I will ask maybe stupid question, since knowledge is 0 in terms of android, but is there a possibility to upload some ROM with android 9.0 to T230? (I even do not know if I haven't made mistake in question )
Anyway I need 9.0 for app and already rooted device following step by step instruction.
Thx in advance
