CyanogenMod Rom

Hi,
Is there any person or developer who can port CyanogenMod Rom on our Defy?
Or do you guys have any idea regarding this? How can we attract the attention to any developers towards our Defy?

CyanogenMod Rom works on Droid. So That should work on our Defy as well.

We need a recovery first

How can we get that recovery?

Wait for it to be sorted - it will come, just got to be patient

What does it really mean that we need recovery and why? Please explain in a way that a noob can get it.or diect me to a place to read thanks!

Bcs recovery is needed to get the modded ROM onto the DEFY!
You need to replace/modify allot of things and this is not as easy as getting a non market app onto your mobile
And i guess there are much more people looking for a 2.2 or perhaps 2.3 then waitin for a CyanogenMod Rom!?

The modded recovery is out... Please Cyanogen make a miracle...!

my main phone is a G2, and have yet to run a CM rom, I'm, more then happy with what we have so far for the Defy, and thanks everyone efforts, if someone ports an OEm Sense Rom over this way well that's another story lol

You know what I am with the guy above. Im loving what I got so far. And in the new year I will probably do my own custom rom. I am not in any rush to get 2.2 at the moment, and im getting an android tablet today so hack time is being diverted to that

But where can i get the information?
No idea how i can create a own rom.
What is about the driver, firmware etc?
How can i cook a rom.
On several websites there a only manuels about HTC roms, and online kitchen.
But no with motorola sets.
Please help a send information how.

Google, you need to be prepare to read - alot.
Everything I have learnt is from googling - all the various android forums.

Hi, i asked google a lot, but can´t find a realy gooo anser what excatly todo.
I can compile my own rom from source, but what is with driver?Firmware?
How i implement this?

Is the bootloader locked the same way as it is on milestone, droid x and droid 2? Or is it hack friendly and we can load any custom kernel?

I missed this thread before.
I would love to see CM's rom on the Defy. In fact I would have no problem donating to the individual who makes it happen

Very different phone dude, you can find a new defy for 290€, seems the Lg Optimus 2x will be around 550€ ... that's really expensive

And ofcourse, if you find yourself in any situation where your phone might get wet or dropped, there's no point in comparing them.

Until froyo(kernel) is released by motorola, we can "only" have a CM5 port for the defy.
It would be great trying froyo kernel without any modules and having them replaced by DEFY ones... Doing that we would know if motorola uses the same key for all the androids

I will be a much excited as you if we can get more community support for this phone, I have the same one got a few weeks ago... right now a current issue is that I flashed and screen is gone blank, even though it seem to be fine, I just cant see anything on the screen. no ideas what to do or what ROM to flash again or even how to flash when you cant see the screen come on.

It seems that some Russion people made a custom rom for it, but it is still not based on ICS.
Mediatek did not made their source public, so it will be difficult to port ICS to our phone.
So lets hope a developer buys one

Custom rom's can be found here, but you have to register first to download them.
They are also working on a ICS version.

Thank you to whoever reads this, I dont mean to come at you this way but im in need of help, I have the Huawei Mercury and we almost have no dev support, i have had this phone for months and only 2 simple stock roms were released and those devs left this one for new phones...We have been trying to port roms and get roms from the Huawei Honor but nothing just seems to work. I have tried my hardest and manage to give us Mercury owners themed backups but everybody is tired of stock...Can you help me please?? I am willing to pay you if i have to just to get atleast one custom rom and or our kernel source...Please reply

I would love to have something for this make. I see there are plenty of option for the pxxxx or gtxxx models. But nothing for the SGHxxx variants.

I have one too and I can't believe there is no development for this thing. If there is no dev for it soon, the next new thing will bump it off the AT&T shelf and all we'll have is a rooted stock Tab 2 or the opportunity to buy something else.

Im sorry but there is seriously only one dev for any SGHXXX device. And he only supports the 7" one. Sorry guys. Besides, why not get a Nexus 7 or wait for the new Nexus 7.7?

How did you get yours rooted? I have tried a number of different ways and never could get it rooted. I have searched XDA for it as well but no luck.

i found a great ROM for this tablet its a 4.1.2 ROM but i can get a lot of the features from the newer Roms you just can install a rooted app and install them i can get the link to the ROM if anyone would like. its a stock ROM but its amazing

I'm also looking for any usable rom apart from stock. I have an sph-p500 which is technically the same as sgh-i497 but found no roms at all. any help appreciated. all rom links are broken. I know the device is pretty old but I don't want to shred it.

Hi, sad to say. There is no development carried out for your device, hence why you were unable to find any custom roms lurking around the internet. Judging by the year model of this device, it is fairly old and let me blast out all the sadness to you.
I highly doubt your device will receive any update.
Same with custom roms, but maybe some dev may get this phone? Idk why.
And may make a custom rom for it.
Sad to say friend, your device is far to outdated to receive ICS or JB or any new Android platform.
Time for you to upgrade if you wish to say in line within the platform standards.

ohh k thanks for the reply well is it not like that i can flash wid any android 2.3.4 custom firmware ? for ex, here are the list

No that's not how it works.
If you flash another devices .IMG or ROM to your device it will brick it. Meaning it will no longer be usable.
Better explained, you can't install a Samsung firmware for your device. It won't work.
