[Q] wifi connection times out when using browser login

Hello. I've been having issues connecting to my school wifi which is a browser login. I can connect fine to open and router login networks though. It usually lasts about 3 minutes. Does anyone know how to fix this?

VPN Disconnects

I have a Synology NAS running an L2TP/IPSec VPN Server. All my clients have a stable connections, including iPhones and other Android phones. My Pixel 3 is the only Pie 9.0 device.
VPN will connect on the Pixel 3, then disconnect after 2 minutes. If I enable Always On VPN, it will reconnect every 2 minutes and I'll pick up the next available IP address in the pool, going back and forth between IP's.
I've performed all basic troubleshooting, including resetting the device to factory defaults. I have even tried lowering the MTU on the Server and it does not resolve the issue.
I've also opened a ticket with Google and sent them a bug report, awaiting to hear back.
Is anyone else experiencing VPN disconnections?
The exact same thing happens to me. When I had the original Pixel the VPN would work correctly. Now with the Pixel 3 it will connect, but will disconnect after about 90 seconds. The VPN system I am connecting to is a Ubiquiti (ubnt) USG device.
Do you have Adaptive Battery enabled? If so, try turning it off.

That did not work for me, unfortunately.
Don't know if this is directly relevant or helps you, but I tested PIA VPN connecting to their servers on my Pixel 3 and it works fine with no drops or disconnects.

Yes, I'm positive it's the new Pixel 3, not the L2TP/IPsec VPN running on my Edgerouter-X. My former Pixel 2 connects and stays connected. My Asus Zenpad and my new Microsoft Surface stay connected. Both Pixels are running the same Android version. It sure seems hardware related. I'm extremely keen to hear Google's answer and fix for this.

Well same OS maybe but not same kernel
Sent from my Pixel 2 using XDA Labs
I've been using L2TP/IPSEC IKEv1 with PSK (Meraki VPN server) for work on my Pixel 3 and I've not experienced any connectivity issues. The longest I've kept the VPN active so far has been about 3 hours (by choice).

Ok, I'm not quite so positive it's the Pixel 3, but I still can't explain the behavior of the other devices working with the VPN and my Pixel 3 not. The router/vpn server itself? maybe I guess. I still remain frustrated.
HI!
I have the same problem with VPN. It disconnects after 2 minutes, either on WiFi or 4G. I'm using a Ubiquiti USG and it's set up as L2TP/IPsec PSK.
At work I use Fortigate firewall with a L2TP/PSK but it works flawlessly.
I don't know what the problem is.
Pixel 3 VPN Problems
I'm also experiencing trouble with a L2TP/IPSec VPN Server on my Pixel 3. It worked fine on my OnePlus 3 and works fine on my desktop. On the Pixel, it connects and works at first, but after about 90 seconds it stops receiving bytes. It still shows as connected and continues showing bytes sending, but I lose all connectivity. I can disconnect and reconnect and it will work again for around 90 seconds.
I'm having the same issue. All settings are the same as my Note 8. I used to keep vpn on for 6 hours at a time on the Note with no issue, but for some reason the Pixel is randomly disconnecting after a few minutes.
At first I thought it had to do with the screen turning off, but I extended the screen sleep time and I am still experiencing the same issue.
I'm using an Unifi USG as well.

So it seems that USG VPN has a problem with pixel 3. I have USG too and suffer VPN disconnects after 90 seconds. I'm using also a IPSec Xauth PSK VPN for work in a Fortigate firewall and no issues.
I think that if Google doesn't solve the problem, I will have to change VPN on USG from IPSec to PPTP until there is a solution.
By the way, I talked to Google support to explain the problem and they say that do not give support to VPN connections.

Have you been able to successfully stay connected while using PPTP on the USG? If so, I will do that as well.
I'm trying in a few minutes. I'll keep you informed.

Hi again!
I've just changed config in USG from IPSec to PPTP and it's working without disconnects.
I don't know if the problem was Ubiquiti or Google related, but anyway it's working.

Awesome, I just did the same and seems to be running fine. I hate using PPTP just out of principle because I know its insecure, but there's nothing I'm doing that is that secret anyway. Mostly just trying to get around the company firewall so I can use wifi to stream Pandora.
Since it was working fine on my Note 8 and just stopped working with the Pixel, I am tempted to blame Google rather than Ubiquiti.
Yes. I think the same. I don't like PPTP because of security, but I'm using it at home and I think that I'll have to use PPTP until Google fixes it.
And if you call support, Google says that they don't give support for VPN. ****.

Redmi 9C connected to wifi but no Internet

I just bought this phone and I'm trying to use it in my network. I use Ubiquiti products (16-port switches and a bunch of AP access points). I connected the phone via wifi to my network and it has no problem for a while until it just doesn't have Internet connection. It stays connected with its IP address intact but for some reason it cannot seem to reach the Internet. The workaround is to simply turn off the wifi module and turn it back on. It's randomly happening and the workaround is very annoying.
I have a couple of other mobile devices (iPads, iPhones, Android phones, Windows laptops, etc.) and I never experienced the issue with these. I tried connecting the Redmi 9C to all my wifi networks:
Guest wifi with captive portal
Main wifi with RADIUS authentication
IoT wifi with regular WPA2 personal authentication
I tried resetting the wifi settings of the phone. I tried reinstalling the latest MIUI fw/sw.
and the result is the same, every time. At this point, I can safely consider that there has to be something wrong with the phone. I'm not sure if it's because of the MIUI 12 update because I updated the phone to the latest firmware as soon as I got it out of the box. Is this a known issue with this phone? I have another Xiaomi phone (Mi Mix 3) on the same network without any issues.
Any ideas?

Wifi connecting and disconnecting automatically

Hi ,
I have recently installed a wifi of bsnl ftth in my home. All devices in my home are working on it except mine and another two devices. I am using redmi note 5 pro and i also have redmi note 10 in both devices wifi is connecting but it is showing notification that wifi has no internet access. So i have to change the ip settings to static and entered the ip address and dns manually and after doing that it connects to wifi but the problem is after 4 to 5 seconds wifi disconnects and connect back automatically and it happens again and again

Question WIFI connection lag

Anyone encounter the wifi lag when connected to the wifi? Mine is worst. Sometimes it got disconnected but when its not the speed is super slow. It's not my wifi problem as all my other devices are working correctly.
I already reset the network settings on the mobile, reset the wifi connection, forget the wifi then connect it again but still the same problem persists.
yes, same here on my huawei P50 Pro ( Snapdragon ) .... I will go to Huawei Customer Service as soon as possible because its not acceptable problem !! also there is a heating issue while normal usage !
