Can YOU...yes, YOU pull your modem? Forgot to backup mine when I converted to India version and don't want to wipe everything to pull it. Just do this.
1. Go to https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8t/how-to/wip-root-kb2005-unlocked-8t-t4179423/post83851225 and download the "broken twrp". This will let you get ADB root so you can back up the modem.
1.1 Reboot to bootloader and enter fastboot boot recovery.img
2. Type adb shell
2.1 Type dd if=/dev/block/platform/soc/1d84000.ufshc/by-name/modemst1 of=/sdcard/modem_b (if that doesnt work use modem_a)
2.2 Type exit
3. Type adb pull /sdcard/modem_b this will put the modem backup in whatever folder your running adb in
if you can do that that'd be sweet

No I didn't use msm to flash the bin I think it's done via fastboot I maybe wrong I would double check on the forum. I haven't flashed it since I resolved my network issues and 5g is ok in my area so no noticable difference when I came from the latest update from T-Mobile to the EU rom with EU modem

Isn't flashing the tmo modem over the eu rom break the fingerprint or is there a fix for that?

No the guy that did that was using a different T-Mobile modem version versus the buil version he was running I think the modem was old and the build version he was running was newer. So I think that's why he got that fingerprint error .

fastboot erase all --> no IMEI (unsolvable atm)

Hello,
so... yep, I did "fastboot erase all" :cyclops:.
But if I boot into bootloader I can still get my imei with "fastboot getvar imei", though the rom doesn't recognize it. Nope, not even that anymore.
Is it just corrupted or something? Can I still "unbrick" my phone?
(I'll try to flash the stock firmware, but it'll take a while to download) did not work so far.
Stuff I tried:
-Flashing stock firmware
-Edit #550(IMEI) with QPST
Thanks in advance!

If your imei displayed in fastboot mode then you might have a chance to reflash pure stock including recovery and reflash the bootloader. If that doesn't work I am sorry my friend, at this point in time it cannot be recovered.

It was displayed... then i flashed stock firmware and did other stuff (didn't get it to work). Now it is not displayed in fastboot. I do get a signal occasionally, so that's "good" i guess.
I'll buy a new one and use this one for testing and might try to fix it when somebody has come up with something. It's not that expensive afterall and I was actually planning on buying a 2. Gen or a 2014 version :3

I already ordered a 2. Gen Moto, but I could return it. Would be nice if you could show me how to do that (I already tried a bit with qpst, but it didn't work and i lost my motivation ^^). Link maybe?
The problem is that I can't really mess with my phone, I need it and I'd rather know how to fix it than try for hours and hours and not be able to use it :/ That's why I just gave up

Probably didn't, maybe next device hehe. Have to change their process again, possibly; however the command we exploited to escalate our adb commands can't necessarily be blocked/disabled as it is required. They may however drop the privileges that the command has, and take our leverage point away.

I tried to pull it but the issue is the update.bin file is in /data/fota which cannot be accessed and I tried to root to grab it but current root method deletes everything and there is nothing I could do about it. I also tried to get update when I was on Sampwnd firmware but Software Update threw error saying I had modified system.

I have already grabbed the bin but its completely useless for now because It can't be flashed at all. signature verification failed and missing footer. fota app on phone does something to bin file to convert it to flashable bin file but I still could not figure it out. But I wonder if anything on .bin file could be helpful for root
EDIT: I grabbed .bin file for S8 though not S8+ and I grabbed it directly from FOTA server.
I've updated to Oreo, however I can flash TWRP through Odin, but going in recovery only shows stock recovery. Haven't tried to flash CF-AutoRoot with Odin.

Hydrogen os to OOS

Hello guys, i bought my oneplus 7 pro from china and it comes with hydrogen os and i am trying to get rid of it.
I already tried to download the official package from OnePlus website and i tried to flash it using the recovery but it gives a pop up saying that i can't downgrade.
could anyone suggest me a good way to switch to oxygen os ??
Thanks in advance!!
Probably it's because they listed a lower version there.
Head to https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/oneplus-7-pro-global-repo-oxygen-os-t3930585
Download the latest zip and use the local upgrade method.

If you're on a newer version of hydrogen, you need to unlock bootloader to go to a lower version. Dont forget. But might be better to wait for the next update of OSS and then flash internally. To be safe. Im rather new with oneplus too

I have a follow up question. I might be wrong at any step so please correct me if I am.
From what I remember, during first boot of android people are supposed to log into their google account. So if I end up flashing OOS by local update option, will they ask me to log into my google account? I'm still in China and I don't know if I can actually skip that step and keep using my phone (log into google accounts later on after I connect to my VPN).
I don't want to risk changing OS and not being able to use my phone until I leave China.

MODEM

Does anyone have the latest modem for the T-Mobile oneplus 8? I'm not sure if I wasn't supposed to create a new thread for this. I know the 5G SA modem broke service for a lot of people but I'm talking about the firmware before that. I converted to the global rom and my service isn't the best and I don't have a good modem backed up. Thank you
Hey there,
If I'm understanding your post correctly, you are lookjt for the modem file "before" the 5g SA, right?
Thanks.

Yes, I was the one that had messaged you earlier about it
Uploading now. Dated for 6.6.20 is when I took the backup. Not sure what version of OOS that was. Just FYI, I came back from OOS11 and now on 10.5.12 running the 5G SA modem from 10.5.17 that was pulled and so far everything seems to be working fine. Bluetooth, WiFi, Data, etc. Keeping a backup of the modem that I'm uploading on my phone just in case I run into issues. Will let you know when upload is complete and provide a link.

Either connect to PC, put in adb/fastboot folder, reboot to Fastboot and type in Command Prompt/PowerShell "fastboot flash modem modem.emmc.win" or make a backup in TWRP, add it to the folder where the backup was made, reboot recovery, then you should be able to restore it. Thanks for this. I am going to use my phone as a guinea pig before a master reset/MSM from a bad power drain. 5 hours on 60hz
Edit: ya it sucks as bad as everyone says it does. TMobile fail. My mobile data is 0.4mbps and before it was still bad at 25ish
Interesting... I have the global oneplus 8 ( 10.5.12.IN21AA )... in Champaign, IL I'm on band 66 but according to T-Mobile, 5G SA is in the area. 25 mbps down, 40 mbps up.
1. tried out that 5g SA modem image & lost all of the mobile network options. Data still worked, but still on 66. flashed back to the modem.img from 10.5.12.IN21AA and all of the options came back. 2.7 mbps down, 1 mbps up.
2. tried out the non 5G modem image... 26 mpbs down, 2.75 mbps up
3. flash back to the global modem.img... 26 mpbs down, 2.7 mbps up
I'm guessing the slower up rate is probably due to congestion, but what do you guys think? do I need to flash the dsp or anything else to not lose mobile network settings on the 5G SA modem img?
Looking for 10.5.20 modem IMG, anyone happen to extract it yet ? Still 10.5.10 here...
If anyone is able to upload/post a link to the latest T-Mobile firmware (10.5.20) I can extract the modem and test.
