The phone feels rapid using 120hz however when slowly scrolling the phone I feel there is ghosting/motion blur which makes it hard to read. Does anyone have tips to reduce this? I'm currently using stock miui 12.
It's hardware issue, the screen response time is too slow, GTG is about 45 ms

oh man I didn't realise this, where did you find out the GTG is 45 ms?
Since this morning the screen got the motion blur effect too. I've never had a problem with the phone but this effect is just the worst! Hope someone comes with a solution
That's true, but i don't mind the little ghosting. Some other phones also have this but reviewers went berserk on this phone for some reason. You can check notebookcheck.net Poco X3 review where they measured GTG response time of 44.4ms.

Does anyone else have the same issue as myself, which is the horrible autorotate issue? By issue I mean the phone refuses to rotate all the time. I find myself constantly rotating my phone in circles both horizontal and vertical as well as a combo of both. Sometimes it will rotate but takes a decade. Any thoughts or fixes would be appreciated.
Yes i do but the issue only started after the last update i believe.
I too have same issue also I wish I could set battery saver to not instantly turn auto rotate off.
I also experienced this issue
My (temp) solution: if u rotate ur phone the rotation icon on the navbar will appear and you can press it. Auto rotation on this phone is f* up
Have the issue since day 1. Fierce annoying when watching YouTube.
Yes YouTube is the worst culprit

i've never had so many annoying problems like the the screen brightnes or dodgy rotation on a phone. Seriously dissapointed. I previously had a LG G6 and despite the performance difference i really like that phone much more than op7 pro right now. Still... after 3 years

I too came from a G6 which I loved. Between this anti rotate and lack of pocket lock function, maybe I should of just got the G8.
I bought myself a Note 20 Ultra Snapdragon Version (Hong Kong Version). After around 2 weeks right we’re the proximity sensor is, a dark discoloration started to appear. It’s not super good visible, but still it was there. I tried to overlook it but couldn’t. So i started a repair/exchange process. After a huge war to get a perfect device the shop where i bought the mobile exchanged it with a new one. But again after 1 week this weird dark spot started to appear. Sometimes the splotch is faintly visible, sometimes he is very visible. Now i have payed 1300 Dollars but can’t have a perfect display. Anyone having the same issue?

Ask yourself , what rogue apps are you heavily using that cause this issue. These things normally occur during using VoIP apps on high brightness with screen left ON for long durations. Heat , bright screen and VoIP apps that use the proximity sensor continuously degrade it.
User KURDking posted about similar issues on this forum a month or so back.

First i use the mobile on very low brightness since i got it. Secondly i used nothing like the apps you described. So i can’t see how i caused this. And I’m not the only one. There are other cases with exactly the same issue. It’s a design flaw.
I forgot to mention that i carefully checked the battery temperature and cpu temperature all the time to avoid unnecessary strain on the display and the internals. But still after a short time on both mobiles the same issue.

Lol i own the mobile max 2 weeks. In this two weeks i watched videos. I used whatsapp for texting (maybe 2-3 phone calls). I used a video player to watch download videos, but i used nothing that would have left the display on for a long time with the proximity sensor working. I used the phone more for media, because i still own my iPhone 11 pro max for phone calls and alike. Hence i can’t explain why this is happening. I’m the first one who would say yeah i used the apps you mentioned on high brightness all the time, but that’s not the case.

Btw your sarcastic questions are unnecessary. If you think your clever and everyone else is a moron, nice for you. But the Note 20 Ultra is not my first mobile, and i know what to avoid, and what to do in most cases. But when i get the same issue two times in less than 2 weeks without doing anything maybe causing this, i think it’s ok to ask if anyone else is having the same issue.

Exactly this thread i found before. It’s exactly the same issue. And i was in contact with a other guy over Reddit who also exchanged 3 mobiles with the very sane issue.

No worries bubba. I hope you find an amicable solution soon.
Yeah every n20u has it. Some people just don't have the eyes to see it or choose not to / conditioned to ignore it.
I can see it on demand but I forgot it was even there till this thread. No way around it, it's a design flaw of this generation.
My n10+ isn't visible unless it's being used but what can we do, Nothing.
My US Note 20 Ultra has that as well. I didn't notice it for 3 months, then there it was. It is from the proximity sensor, and it's only visible in dark environments, and on days when I've had long calls. Other times, it's not visible at all and I'm guessing the sensor is under the screen and that the visible flashing causes it to slightly offset the AMOLED pixels. Every Note 20 Ultra I've seen also has image retention issue (not to the point of burn in) but high contrast images fade off the screen for about 5-10 seconds and this is only visible on gray backgrounds. Looking for a "perfect" one may be a waste of time.
As mentioned, after the 11/One UI update, when I scroll slowly, like pretty slow, the scrolling us jumpy, laggy, whatever word you want to use for "not smooth". It's system wide, ui elements, apps, home screen, all the same behavior. it's really annoying as I love to scroll as I read. I have made sure adaptive is on, no power savings is on, tried enhanced processing. It even does it in safe mode.
Anyone else have this issue? I was going to do a full wipe but I suspect this was a bug introduced in Android 11.
I don't have this issue, just upgraded this morning.
Ended up taking the time to do a full wipe. Still have the issue...Great. Like just to confirm, if you're barely scrolling, real slow, the fps dips and jumps all the time. I confirmed this using GPUWatch in the dev settings. Is there really no one having this issue out there?
I'm tempted to send it in but if I just get another phone back with the same issue, that's a lot of wasted time.

I see it too. I recorded a video to show it. I noticed it using Instagram and I also observe the problem going away in app restart. Is this what you see too? I'm wondering if Good Lock is implicated in this?

So funny enough, I dropped my fold, cracked the outer glass and bought bestbuy protection on it so I went and got a new phone. This did let me further test everything out. The new phone came with the original firmware version so I tested it through every upgrade. I think maybe I just didn't see it before but now I can see it happens on a new phone, regardless of version. Like I said, it's when you scroll very slowly which I tend to do often and happens quite literally everywhere. I tried to record it with gpuwatch but it locks the screen to 60 fps and doesn't show the stuttering in the data like it does in 120hz mode, even though it's still there. I'm honestly confused by this. No other phone has had this behavior.

You can see when it start smooth but slowly devolves. It does not stutter when it slows down at the end of a scroll that you let go of (flick scroll)
Is it doing on both screens? It looks like you are using Nord VPN, could that slow it down?

Ah, you're talking about the inside screen. Yes, I have that too. Doesnt bother me very much, but I see your point.
Anyone else notice this? I did find a small thread on Samsung.com so not sure if its a hardware issue or if all of them have it. - https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...t-flickering-on-video-recordings/td-p/2209967
Seems to only do it at 60fps options 1080p60 and 4K60.
Except its just not flash light related or LED light related. It'll do it outside as well Highly annoying!
I tested it and don't have this issue.

Its not a 100% all the time issue. Its under certain lighting specific lighting conditons. Usually lower light for me
for low light always use auto fps. it was tested to show its actually better and brighter and clearer

Last year on the 12 Pro Max Auto FPS ruined a video that couldnt be remade. It for some reason switched despite being in the bright outside, on top of that it recorded 24fps and made the clip choppy. Not saying samsung would do this but its not worth the risk keeping that enabled.
But the weird flickering has happened with it being bright outside as well

something doesn't seem to be syncing. i would say the flickering is due to hardware more than software. but yea i only switch on auto fps in low light and its been impressive. i forget where but there's a video of the s22u side by side and auto fps was much more preferable since it could slow down frames meaning it would be brighter with less artificial noise reduction
Looks like a PWM frequency issue depending on the brightness of the (flash LED).
Literally just made a thread about this. The exact same problem. Glad to see i'm not the only one, because I wasn't able to find any other person experiencing this. You can see my example videos here:
Is it normal that my camera flickers on videos when the lighting level changes ? Does it happen on you too ?
It's not happening because of the lamps above, it happens on natural lighting too. It happens when camera focuses to a new area where the lighting level is different. Is this a defect, or is it the same for everyone ? Here are 2 example videos...

Hope it's not a hardware problem and they fix it with an update
I'm so happy to say that May update I just received (S908EXXU2AVDA) fixed this problem. Can you check if it's fixed for you too ? @hyelton I tried every specific condition that it flickered before and it doesn't flicker anymore, made me happy that it wasn't a hardware problem and they were aware of the issue.

I'll post here if it ever gets fixed. Yeah I'm sure it's just people don't notice it.
Example
I can hand my phone to my mom and set it to 60hz. And low power mode. She will think it's crazy fast and no lag. When it most certainly is not LOL
She does now find her old S10 slow after using a S21 FE the past few weeks.
No matter how tolerant I am with this device, but scrolling for me has been unfortunate. No way to sugar coat it, it is bad. Sometimes it scrolls normally, sometimes it wont, like the whole screen sticks to the phone, there is no inertia or fluidity. I am on the latest update, it behaves poorly in all screen configurations.

I'll consider myself lucky. So far I've experienced some odd behavior but overall it's not been that troublesome. Could be that I'm a heavy "swiper".

Lol im sure it will get addressed. My apologies in advance for creating a new post, i saw plenty of info in another thread.
My scrolling was atrocious for the first week. It just cleared up for me yesterday. No updates or anything, just became smooth suddenly. There's hope!
I agree, it's t really bad. 6 Pro feels much better. Really hope this will be fixed in the November update.
There is already a thread for this.
Scrolling issues
Been noticing that scrolling seems off. When scrolling through home pages, it sometimes takes 2 or 3 swipes to go to the next page. Anyone notice this?
