I plugged the charger in, but the phone didn't seem to detect that it was charging. I was wondering if anyone also got this issue?

I've got the same error when I woke up yesterday the phone was at 55% battery. I'm in contact now with the store I bought it from. I've been using the phone for about one and a half months.

I had the same issue in December - I sent it back to the store I bought it from, and they repaired it, but after a short while it had the same problem again. I ended up repairing it a 2nd time myself.
For me it was the flex cable that stretches from the charging port over the battery to the mainboard - I suspect it overheats or becomes detached or some combination of those two things. I suspect the 'turbo' charger that comes with the phone overheats the battery and damages that cable, but it's only a suspicion. Since I repaired the phone I've been using a quick charge 3 charger instead... not as quick but not too bad either.
This is a repair video for it that I found after I fixed mine... if you wanna try doing it yourself. Not horribly difficult...
You'd need a new flex cable first - I ordered two from SunSky and had it delivered for around 13 Australian dollars altogether. It's been working since I fixed it back in January without any problems.

I didn't have trouble opening my cover as the people at the shop I bought it from who repaired it the first time had already opened it - I didn't have to heat it up at all. I used a guitar pick to re-open it... wasn't difficult.
So to answer your question - I don't know how long, as I didn't have to use heat for my situation, sorry.

I used hair dyer to heat for 2 mins to open poco f2 back cover.

I bought my LG Optimus 3D off Ebay. The seller stated that it wouldn't charge. Bought it anyway.
After weeks of using it this way. Every once in awhile it would charge up to about 50% then fall back to 0%.
At first I thought it was the charging cable or charging port. Found out if I push down on the black plastic terminal block.
(The thing with the 3 gold plated terminal fingers coming out of it that contact the battery terminals) I can charge up to 100% now.
I think there maybe a bad solder connection. I put up this post thinking this may help someone with the same problem.

well, i had the same problem but by changing (buying samsung) charger i was able to recharge my battrey

Update Fixed
After taking the phone apart and resoldering the battery terminal block. It worked for about a day.
Checking it out some more, I found that the last pin wasn't connecting internally inside the battery terminal block.
Removing part of the cover of the battery terminal block I found I had more access to the last pin. (Pin on the right)
Pushed it in more and held it there with a piece of small foam. Been working great for more than a month and still does.
Like a new phone now.

Wireless charging stopped working

After almost a year of flawless operation, the wireless charging on my Nexus 5 stopped working. Over a period of 4 days or so, it became intermittent and then stopped working completely. I have multiple wireless chargers and it fails to charge on all of them. Similarly, my N7 charges fine on all chargers, so I concluded my phone was bad.
After doing a TWRP backup, I did a warranty exchange with Google. Wireless charging initially worked fine on the replacement phone and I restored my TWRP backup. Again, over a few days, wireless charging became intermittent and then stopped completely. Again, my N5 fails on all of my chargers while my N7 works on all my chargers.
What could cause this? Could a rouge app be doing this? I'm planning to install a factory image to see if it charges then, but I haven't had time to do so yet.

Have you tried pressing down on the back of the phone in case some contacts are loose?

Yeah worth doing this if it's been dropped or compressed in any way. There are various contact clips that need to be in place around the back. I had an issue when I removed my back. I had to push it down firmly around the edges and centre to get it working again. Although if it stopped again after a restore, it could well be software and a reset will determine that
Thanks guys. Yes, I have tried squeezing the back with no success. I am aware that there is an additional clip near the upper middle of the phone. It appears to be properly clipped in place. I should add that since this is a new (refurbished) phone, I have never removed the back or dropped the phone, so I haven't done anything that would loosen any of the contacts on the back cover.
Does it work when the phone is switched off? That should eliminate any software issues.

Ah, of course!
I just tested both while off and while booted into recovery and it does not charge. So, the question is, am I really unlucky enough to get a phone with a bad charging mechanism after just returning a phone with the same fault? Or am I doing something to damage the phone? Is it possible that one of my wireless chargers is defective in a way that damages the phones charging circuit?

That does sound pretty unlucky!
What current does each of your wireless chargers use? Mine is 1.2A, never tried a stronger charger. Not sure if a stronger current could damage it though.
Have you had a read of this thread? There's some pretty detailed testing done there.
Maybe @Datsun.510 might know?

I don't know. My primary chargers are a Nokia DT-900 and DT-910. I think there are many people using those with the Nexus 5.
I finally called Google and they think I just got a bad replacement unit. I'm skeptical, but they're sending me another one, so we'll see.

For the benefit of anyone with the same problem who reads this:
I've been using the 2nd replacement unit for almost 2 weeks now, and wireless charging still works fine. I still find it unlikely that I just happened to get a replacement with bad Qi charging, but I'm glad I requested another replacement. As expected, Google offered to replace it with no questions asked. Great customer service. (I thought I read somewhere that each purchase is only eligible for one warranty exchange. I suppose in my case, if they really sent me a bad one, I'd be upset if they refused.)

Random shutdowns after battery change

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out here. 2 nights ago I opened up my sons Nexus 5 and changed the battery. I replaced it with a oem replacement that I found on Amazon. I put the phone back together and everything works fine, but he is suffering from random shutdowns. He says that he plays his phone throughout the day and every now and then when he pulls his phone out of his pocket it has powered off. He has to hold down the power button to restart the phone. Has anyone ever had this issue? Do I need to take the phone back apart? Help please!
Open the phone again to make sure everything inside is connected firm and correctly. Otherwise if you keep getting the issue after, you should probably send the battery back to the seller.
It is very difficult to find genuine batteries these days as this phone isn't manufactured anymore. Every battery being different in every phone these days. Planned obsolescence at it's best.

SAme happened to me recently, make sure all the connections are ok and if its still acting ****ty send it back for a replacement.

Yes, recheck the connections, but I strongly suspect defective battery, too. I don't know if this one is any better: https://lg.encompass.com/item/10389517/LG/EAC62078701/Rechargeable_Battery,lithium_Polymer. Probably more $ but not unreasonable. I believe I read shipping is about $8.

Nexus 5 does not charge

Hey,
Last week, my Nexus 5 did not want to respond to the power button. I had the issue before and wanted to send it in to get it fixed. But my warranty was over, and I wasn't planning on spending 80-150 euro's for a phone over 2 years old.
So what I did was open up the N5, removed the motherboard and took a look at the button itself. It looked like there was a bad contact with the motherboard. So I took my soldering iron, touched the contact and I saw the solder paste spread better. I closed up the N5, booted it up and magically, the problem was fixed.
But now for some reason, the phone does not want to charge. It was at 0% and I kept it in the wall socket for a full day, but it did not charge a single percent. So I figured, maybe I broke the battery, so I ordered a new battery (not the biggest cost). Now I just placed the battery in, but it still does not charge.
Then I thought, maybe I could measure the voltage on the old and new battery, and they both give just around 4V, so conclusion, I bought a new battery for nothing.
Now the real question, is there something I can do to fix this not-charging bug without sending it in for repairs or having to buy a new motherboard?

The dreaded battery gate on my Pixel 4 XL

I bought my Pixel 4 XL when it first released and pre-ordered,. I soon after got my phone and everything was lovely I had a screen protector ready for it and a good case to protect it from any falls or any damaged. I've had the phone since the phone released and now my phone is refusing to hold a charge.. It seems to be stuck at 50% but dies as soon as I take it off the charger. At one point I was able to make it actually charged the battery from 0 to 100 if I squeezed the bottom G portion of the back of the phone. That seems to have stopped working now.. now my phone even on the charger is literally at 0%, and the only thing keeping it alive is a charger itself. As soon as I take it off it will turn off randomly but when I plug it into the charger in powered off , it will show a battery with a ? Within it. My phone is under the one year manufacturers warranty and Google advise me that I could take it into uBreakiFix to get it fixed.. mind you, the place is almost 60 miles away from me. I have never dropped my phone it's been in a case and the screen is a virgin screen because I've had a screen protector on it since the moment I opened the box..
This kind of reminds me of the Nexus 6P shutting off at 30 to 40% because of a faulty battery..
I've googled around for solutions and apparently this is a known issue in Google tracker and apparently it is a hardware issue with a flex cable that comes out of the battery... Not only does the battery have a negative and a positive terminal it also has a data terminal that reports battery health battery temperature battery voltage and anything having to do with the battery. Well apparently the soldering in that part of the cable is faulty and cracks according to them due to dropping the phone or damaging it but again mind you I've never dropped my phone it's been in the case since day one..
I've taken really good care of my device like I'm pretty sure a lot of you have...
I have a feeling that before the Pixel 5 is out many people will be experiencing these problems because this is not a software problem this is a manufacturing problem within the phone itself.

I would push for in advanced RMA. Be civil and respectful but also set boundaries, like the fact that a 60 mi trip is absolutely insane for a product that is under warranty and is experiencing a manufacturing defect. If you're getting nowhere with the current rep, ask to escalate the case to a manager and proceed to plead your case. They should do it, I don't see why they wouldn't under your scenario as you tell it. Good luck.
I've had my Oh So Orange Pixel 4 XL since probably the same time as yours and no battery charge and usage issues here. You're within the one year warranty so I would go for a replacement.

I've had this problem. I took it to ubreakifix to have it repaired. No problems since.
The service I received at ubreakifix was subpart today the least.
Google will also let you send the phone in for repair. You would just have to wait.
Fyi I had to take my phone in to ubreakifix they didn't have parts, then wait for parts to come in. Then their online tracking said the phone was done and when I came in had to wait an hour for it to actually be repaired.
If they are that far away save yourself a headache and just send it in to Google.

I had replaced my Nexus 5X twice with Google and both times they send you a phone and THEN you send back the old one. The only wait time was receiving the working phone which was no more than 2 days.

Here is what happens. See the picture of the Pixel I just had fixed. And why pressing on the G on the back glass helps.
Look at the new battery on the ground under the phone. Notice the gold connector. Then look at the used battery in the air. The connector comes off the battery.
In my case, the connector was stuck in the board, and the main board needed replacing. Thankfully google approved it.
I honestly feel like that with time this will start beginning to happen on a lot of pixel 4 xls

I think that only works if you bought directly from Google or Fi. 3rd party, i.e. Verizon, BB purchases do not have advance replacement. You can't even put a credit card hold on a device to get AR if you didn't buy it from them.

You could be right. My last 3 Google phones were all through Google Store so wouldn't know how replacements are through retail stores.

WeBreakUpay sucks. They changed a battery in my 2XL and the camera stopped working a few days later. They said it wasn't their fault. They charged me for it. So I bought a 4XL and vowed never to set foot in there. Send it back to Google. Hopefully you have a backup.
