Cyberpunk 2077 Phone with OxygenOS - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

Cyberpunk 2077 phone arrived today. It appears the exporter had flashed a OxygenOS (Global/KB05AA) ROM on the phone, without the goodies in-tact (boot animation/live wallpapers/etc.). Performing an OTA update through the settings menu results in the phone being stuck at boot animation. On reboot, the boot animation changes from the stock Oneplus animation, to the cyberpunk one (which is stuck).
I have resolved this by performing a factory reset through recovery mode, which puts me back on the previous OOS version. However, it does not appear to be possible to update in the phone's current state. I was curious if others had experienced this, and what the best approach would be to either restore the original Cyberpunk H2OS, or continue using stock OxygenOS. OTA updates are preferable. Happy to share any of the goodies.
Solution:
Restored the phone back to its original state, with HydrogenOS and Cyberpunk assets - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=84016539&postcount=12
Still trying to get Google Apps/Services.

Cyberpunk version
Hello.
I experienced bootloop when trying to update with 11.0.4.5KB05AA. Meaning, could not go through to update unless switching back to Hydrogen stock or another build Oxygen os based on EU or India.
No local upgrade inside the current when looking at the system update. No such option. Also, when on stock recovery, could not reach internal storage as to flash other compatible rom.
Technically, tried to resolve but not feel confident to pursue despite thinking of need to unlock the bootloader and etc...
What a hassle!

Doing this via stock recovery? Oh yeah, got to deal with the PC. How I wish if I could execute without involving PC... If I am incorrectly understood what you meant, please correct me...

Yes, need pc.
Hope it works. I don't have cyberpunk, but you can't make it any worse.

I spoke with a Oneplus support member earlier, but this is supposedly a confirmed issue and they will be pushing an update. Unsure if they misunderstood, or it's standard for them to support non-supported devices running Oxygen. In the mean time I have restored/left the phone on the original KB05AA that it came with.

I have check with my team regarding your issue.

We have already highlighted this issue to the concerned team they are working to resolve your issue.

You will get one auto update then you can able to update the OTA.

I used MSM Download Tool for giggles, which proceeded without error. However, after running update I still end up with a bootloop, with the cyberpunk boot animation.

I've done that, both before and after MSM Download, as well as after OTA update. Still results in the Cyberpunk boot loop. Supposedly the MSM tool has a boot.img, which leaves the question why the Cyberpunk animation is still there.

I managed to get to 11.0.4.5 by using the MSM download tool here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8t/how-to/op8t-unbrick-tool-to-restore-device-to-t4180837
OTA update to 11.0.5.6 still results in a boot loop, with the original cyberpunk animation. I'll be trying to use the HydrogenOS MSM Download, to see if that has different results.

Using the MSM tool above worked, and restored the phone to it's original state (with HydrogenOS and all cyberpunk assets).
The tool uses the instructions below, which will enable you to revert your Cyberpunk Edition phone from OxygenOS to HydrogenOS:

Reason being is that the factory images are different and you don't want to risk hard-bricking your phone. Believe me, I've tried. I did it once and MSM failed.

No. This is the software for the Chinese phones (KB2000). You will not get the Cyberpunk files by doing that, either.

Msm tool
That's the point! How to get rid off totally and permanently cyberpunk animation which till now I have no idea any resources to refer to and how to resolve.
Mine, still stuck at 11.0.4.5 version. Got an incremental update of 11.0.5.6 but unfortunately, the cyberpunk animation is still there, haunting me! Got to reset everything to go back which is not so cool at all!

I ended up changing over to HydrogenOS. Will be rooting it and flashing Google Apps.
From my understanding, there is confliction with the OTA updates for OxygenOS - since this is a different phone.

Help! Oneplus Newbie!

While i am no beginner when it comes to modding phones, having done so with Samsungs Sonys and my last HTC 10. But this is my first Oneplus and my first time dipping toes in the world of A/B partitions as well. My device is a 1910 GM21AA. While i have gone through the guides regarding bootloader unlocks and magisk rooting, I have failed to grasp some more basic aspects. For one thing, i seem to have the Chinese variant but mine isnt Hydrogen OS, i am currently sitting on 9.5.3 OOS. I was wondering how i could perhaps shift to the Global firmware. Am i to take the latest 9.5.11 OTA from https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...7-pro-global-repo-oxygen-os-t3930585#poststop and simply put it in the download folder and do a local update from the system update on the phone? Thanks in advance
Use the oygen os updater from the play store download full rom which is around 2gb and do local upgrade.
FYI GM21AA is Indian Version

the packages shown in the app seem to be the same zips in the thread i linked...so all i do is take the GM21AA from the thread and just do a local update? I read that 1910 is the Chinese variant for my device but it has this GM21AA build which just made things so confusing. Thank you.
I would now like to know of things i can do to bring my OP7Pro to life in case something ever goes wrong with Local storage updates or just Fcked up in general

That should do.. it should give you an error if the update is incompatible. Incase you mess up you can always fastboot and update using this thread https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/foru...ock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-7-pro-t3931424/amp/

I could be wrong, but I think that's the norm with everyone since updating. Thinkni read it in one of the XDA forums around here somewhere.
How do i roll back to full stock if i am on custom rom? This is unfortunately also my first time dealing with A/B partitions.
Aside from these, i have been going around the forums and had a few more questions that i hope someone could help me with....
1. Whenever i come across a rom not based on OOS, i keep coming across never wiping system or vendor, why is that?
2. I come across flashing OOS a lot, how do i flash OOS when i am in a custom rom not based on OOS?

Do i use MSM tool or fastboot method whenever i need to get back to complete stock without any root or twrp? If so then i think MSM tool or fastboot roms would be a great way to go. 1 question, does using msm or fastboot return the phone to stock while keeping the bootloader unlocked? Also, is it ok to downgrade to a lower version of OOS with MSM or fastboot roms? i think 9.5.11 for me introduced some random background battery drain and this weird mobile data bug where switching to it doesnt enable the connection until much much later
I personally use fastboot. All you need to do is plug the phone in>Boot to fastboot (hold vol up and down and power all at once)>On the computer launch flashall.bat (dont run it as administrator, just launch it).

Do you use it to downgrade or whenever you need to go back to full stock after modding? does it keep the bootloader unlocked or does it relock it? Thanks. Sorry for the noob questions. This is my first Oneplus. I have kept my device stock until i get a good idea of how to deal with things going south.
I need a little guidance regarding this thread

Are these rom packages for MSMtool or fastboot packages?

Need help rolling back/unrooting my phone

I rooted my phone last week because I wanted to use substratum to theme my notifications. Since then, I've run into a bunch of frustrating problems.
Current Model: OnePlus 7 Pro 12GB version, build xXx_NoLimits_7.7 on OOS 9.5.11-GM21AB
Problems:
Phone used to be 9.5.11-GM21AA but now it's 9.5.11-GM21AB - does this affect anything?
Substratum hasn't worked in stock+root, and 2 different ROMs I've tried
Favourite app of mine doesn't work properly and I think it's because I'm on build 9.5.11 and not 9.5.10
How I messed it up: Started by rooting and trying to install Renovate ICE Rom, installed the wrong file which converted me to 9.5.5-GM21AB. Then I updated to 9.5.11 but it remained AB. I tried several times to unroot, roll back and get to 9.5.10AA but it always kept itself at 9.5.11AB. Sometimes my wifi would break. I currently have xXx NoLimits Rom installed.
Desired outcome: I want to unroot and roll back to 9.5.10-GM21AA stock
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks, that was super easy. MSM automatically rolled back my phone to 9.5.3.GM21AA.
I have one more question - if I want to update it to 9.5.10GM21AA, how would I do that? If I update through the system, it will take me to 9.5.11, which I do not want. If the process is easier if I'm rooted, I already did that. To top it off, my substratum is working now after I reset my phone to how it is now. All I need is to update it to 9.5.10 and I would be sooooooo happy .
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply! I thought as much. Can you clarify if these steps are right?
Go to https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=294300
Download the one I want (9.5.10AA)
Move the file to my phone's internal storage
Update via Local Upgrade
Is this correct? Will I still have root after I do this?

You will unrooted after the upgrade as itll flash completely stock.
Just re-roof after it and your good to go!

For my purposes, 9.5.9 and 9.5.10 are good. 9.5.11 reverted something with the brightness and so I don't want to use it.
I found a zip from the OP site for 9.5.9 so I was able to update to that one and since I got root/substratum to work without issue, I'm happy to stay at this build. In my eyes, my phone is absolutely perfect now and I am extremely happy. The only thing I would change is the size but that has nothing to do with the software/OS. Thanks for everybody's help!

Unbricked my phone, now what ?

Hello,
I apologize in advance because i'm not a native english speaker and i'm also not tech savvy at all so it will probably be painful to help me.
My OnePlus 6 hard-bricked today and I had to do the MsmDownloadtool thing in this thread because my phone wouldn't work again. Screen was black, even when plugged the LED wouldn't light on and my PC was identifying my phone as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008".
So I did everything to get it back on, it worked and now I'm stuck with android 8 and OOS 5.1.5. I'd like to be able to update both android and OxygenOS automatically and not manually (which I wasn't able to do even though I followed the upgrade to latest Oxygen OS by using full signed zip thread). If someone could help me or point me to a tutorial I can follow or something It will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

So I does not find updates when you tell it to update? I do not have much experience with msmdownload, but I had good experiences with flashable zips of official roms.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-mirrors-official-oxygen-os-t3792244
Read the instructions carefully. I would recommend to start with your current 5.1.5 and let it update itself. You should not try to skip versions.
Edit: On second thought, maybe you could get away with getting a OOS 9.0.0 upgrade package and install it through updater up? This will definitely save you some time, but I am not sure it is the safest approach.

It does find the update that I manually put on the root of the phone, but when I launch it it tells me the update has failed.
I'd love if it updated itself but it doesn't for some reason. When it checks for update I only see the current version.
I hope I didn't mess up the unbrick :/
I Guess you should flash 9.0.9 before turn on A10.

Maybe this version is so old they do not expect people to be upgrading form that.
That link that I sent you. Go there, get an incremental upgrade package from 5.1.5 to 5.1.11 and install it with the updater app
Here is a link to that package
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262903980707
Then get this android 9 upgrade package (or find it yourself) and flash that through the updater app.

It should update automatically after that.
I would not recommend skipping android versions. It may be fine, but it might cause problems

Question I bricked my OP9, any help?

Yep, I got it completely wrong. I was returning back to OOS stock from evolution X, and it was givin me an error when I tried to sideload the zip. looking around I've tried to follow the guide to flash from fastboot, https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fastboot-rom-pc-required-op9-stock-oos-11-2-2-2aa.4275727/ , but when it comes to reboot to fast boot the phone turned off and now it stays on a black screen everything I've tried. I've tried a bunch of stuff, every key press to see something on the screen but nothing.
Am I forced to contact after sales support?
thanks to everyone

I was returning back to OOS stock from evolution X, and it was givin me an error when I tried to sideload the zip. looking around I've tried to follow the guide to flash from fastboot, https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/fastboot-rom-pc-required-op9-stock-oos-11-2-2-2aa.4275727/ , but when it comes to reboot to fast boot the phone turned off and now it stays on a black screen everything I've tried. I've tried a bunch of stuff, every key press to see something on the screen but nothing.
Am I forced to contact after sales support?
thanks to everyone

When using msm tool, select lite firehose.
If you still get something like, image not comaptible with device, you may need to use the OP9 Pro India MSM tool. Its the only one that would work for my OP9 5G North America model. I then installed OP9 stock.
Ok I’ve done it.
I’ll write the steps so that anyone with the same problem can solve it

How do I get back to stock Oxygen OS on OnePlus 8T

Sorry for posting this but I have been using AOSP extended for the last couple of days and I want to get back to the stock Oxygent Os. I've Pixel experience recovery installed.
I'm having a hard time finding any usable link to get back to Stock. Can someone help?
You're going to need a PC and MSMtool to restore to stock OOS.
