[Q] hardware differences between US verizon 3g and UK 3g

Hello all
i have a verizon 3g xoom. it's not upgraded yet. i live outside us
about the UK 3g xoom, can it operate 2g sim card? for sms, gprs or ...
how about normal 3g sim cards?
is there any hardware difference between mine and uk one?
may i operate my 2g sim card on my xoom? how about 3g?
when i put sim card nothing happen. i just tried 2g sim card
our 3g operator is not started selling sim cards ... but we have 4g operator.
if i install uk xoom's rom on my own, can i use sim card?
is there any mini pci-e card that i can use my sim card with it? (self upgrade xoom with custom mini-pci-e)
please help me. i need some information. i'm confused.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263634
how about this thread? i've done that but dont work for me. there is no signal, i think it didnt recognized my sim card.
if i install the mini-pci-e card that motorola installs on xoom during upgrade, can i use sim card for 2g/3g ? (sms or internet)
i have found this : "If you bought your Xoom from Verizon, it will have no SIM card slot. Verizon's CDMA network doesn't use SIM cards. Also, if you bought the Verizom model, it will only work on Verizon, and not another carrier. There is also a WiFi-Only Xoom, and it does not have a SIM slot."
here : "http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/53440/Why+I+can%27t+find+3G+SIM+Slot+in+my+Motorola+Xoom"
but mine have sim slot with a plastic sim on it.
The Verizon 3G Xoom does have a sim card slot but no hardware inside to read the sim card. That is what the 4G upgrade was for, to install the hardware necessary to utilize the sim card for the Verizon 4G LTE network.
I don't know if anyone has gotten a Verizon Xoom working on any other carriers network.
Theres pix of the inside of my Uk3g Zoom somewhere...

[Q] Choosing SIM and using 3G network on Dual SIM version

Hi all:
As far as I heard that the Dual SIM version of Moto G is only support for 3G+2G. I would like to ask whether if we can choose which SIM to run on 3G by simply changing the option on setting, rather than we have to plug the SIM card on the dedicated SIM slot (e.g. SIM 1 or SIM 2) in order to ensure that we can enjoy 3G network on a certain SIM card?
May I ask if anyone who is using the Dual SIM version of Moto G and check this out for me, Please?
Thanks in advance!

Yes!
Only the first sim slot supports 3G network(also 2G) but the second sim slot supports only 2G.
You can use 3G services only in sim one.

That's what I am afraid of!
I'll prefer that it can choose 3G/2G mode by selecting the mode on setting rather than by the SIM card slot! Otherwise, I would have to swap the cards in order to get the thing done!!! Also, there is another drawback by choosing the 3G mode by the SIM slot. Since you have to swap the cards in order to use 3G mode on one of the sim card, you may have to re-certified your whatsapp/line once you are swapping your card!! That's pretty troublesome for users!!
Anyway, thanks for your help!!

Sim detection slot 1 , Indian version E8

Hello Everyone,
I am facing this weird issue. Mine is a dual sim E8 and I was using Airtel provider on my sim slot 1.
The moment I landed in US and when I powered on the mobile, it was showing no signal . Till this moment I havn't changed or removed any sim card. The settings are still untouched and even the sim tray has not been removed ,airtel sim in slot one and no sim in slot 2. Later I changed the setting to manual mode , I saw a pop up displaying sim card error and "unable to find network, switch to global mode"
Then i moved the Airtel sim to slot 2 with slot one empty. It asked me to select Tmobile or ATT as partner network. I went with Tmobile as roaming partner.
I wanted a dual sim , as I was hoping to use Tmobile/ AT&T sim on slot one and keep Airtel sim on slot 2 when I reach USA.
Later , I brought a Tmobile sim and put it in slot one, same old error pop up, but it worked in slot 2 ( Edge )
I reached HTC chat , its the most horrible experience i have ever had. The moment i tell them my issue, chat window loses connection as if someone has disconnected.
Finally when I did get connect , by checking my IMEI, chat representative told me that slot one wont work for roaming as its CDMA, only slot 2 works for roaming.
I just couldnt understand this, I was using airtel GSM sim in India with 2G internet. how come an unlocked device change to cdma while roaming outside India.
Please let me know how to work on sim slot one issue. I love this mobile a lot , even if i get 2G on slot one , i will be very happy
Mobile is in stock condition purchased 2 months back, I received a factory update to 5.0 through OTA

Simple sim data switch

Hello fellow members, I have a bit of a more complicated problem.
I have a dual sim Moto G2 capable of handling one sim in 3g network and the other in 2g network. In SIM slot 1 I have a Digi.Mobil sim card with unlimited data. In SIM slot 2 I have an Orange sim card with few GB of data.
The Digi.Mobil sim card gives me no signal when I am at my office so I need to use the Orange sim card to be reachable. To use the Orange sim card I have to go to settings and manually select it as the data sim. This makes the Orange sim as the 3g sim and the Digi sim as 2g sim.
When I leave work I could leave the Orange sim as the data sim with 3g and Digi sim as 2g. The problem is that the Digi network does not accept 2g. Only 3g or 4g. This means that for the Digi sim to work I have to switch it back as 3g and use the Orange as 2g and use data from the Digi sim.
Is there like a super simple widget or way to just say: OK now i want to have net from Digi and automatically set it as 3g, and now I want to have net from Orange and set that one as 3g? Or is there a way to have 3g as preffered network for Digi while using data from Orange as 2g?
I know the problem is a bit complicated but I really appreciate any help on this.

Second SIM - only 3G ?

I have an European model U11 Plus, Dual-SIM, 6GB, 128 GB, and just goat a second SIM card.
I see in the settings that the secons SIM can only be configured as 3G, no 4G option.
Is this true or am I missing a setting ? Was expecting both SIMs to be 4G.

you can not run both SIMs in 4G mode.
When you have two nano SIM cards inserted on your phone, only one card can connect to the faster 4G LTE network. The other card will connect to the 3G/2G network.

Indeed, what is already an improvement over the older phones who where 'stuck' on 2G only even when only the second SIM was activated (and so the first SIM disabled).
For the U11+ if you disable the first SIM automatically the second SIM will be able to work even with 4G+.
But it shouldn't matter since if two SIMs activated you can run the data over the other SIM. Unless you want to try VoLTE for your second SIM phone number.?
