Second SIM - only 3G ? - HTC U11+ Questions & Answers

I have an European model U11 Plus, Dual-SIM, 6GB, 128 GB, and just goat a second SIM card.
I see in the settings that the secons SIM can only be configured as 3G, no 4G option.
Is this true or am I missing a setting ? Was expecting both SIMs to be 4G.

you can not run both SIMs in 4G mode.
When you have two nano SIM cards inserted on your phone, only one card can connect to the faster 4G LTE network. The other card will connect to the 3G/2G network.

Indeed, what is already an improvement over the older phones who where 'stuck' on 2G only even when only the second SIM was activated (and so the first SIM disabled).
For the U11+ if you disable the first SIM automatically the second SIM will be able to work even with 4G+.
But it shouldn't matter since if two SIMs activated you can run the data over the other SIM. Unless you want to try VoLTE for your second SIM phone number.?

[Q] Choosing SIM and using 3G network on Dual SIM version

Hi all:
As far as I heard that the Dual SIM version of Moto G is only support for 3G+2G. I would like to ask whether if we can choose which SIM to run on 3G by simply changing the option on setting, rather than we have to plug the SIM card on the dedicated SIM slot (e.g. SIM 1 or SIM 2) in order to ensure that we can enjoy 3G network on a certain SIM card?
May I ask if anyone who is using the Dual SIM version of Moto G and check this out for me, Please?
Thanks in advance!

Yes!
Only the first sim slot supports 3G network(also 2G) but the second sim slot supports only 2G.
You can use 3G services only in sim one.

That's what I am afraid of!
I'll prefer that it can choose 3G/2G mode by selecting the mode on setting rather than by the SIM card slot! Otherwise, I would have to swap the cards in order to get the thing done!!! Also, there is another drawback by choosing the 3G mode by the SIM slot. Since you have to swap the cards in order to use 3G mode on one of the sim card, you may have to re-certified your whatsapp/line once you are swapping your card!! That's pretty troublesome for users!!
Anyway, thanks for your help!!

4G in the second sim slot

Hi everyone,
I've got R7plusf with CM-13.0-20160407-NIGHTLY. I have two nano-sims. The second slot is obviously not supporting 4G, I can clearly see it on the speed-test and also on the screen - there is only 'E' showing for the second slot, while there is H+ for the first slot. I've double-checked the settings - LTE is preferred for both slots. Does anyone have the same problem? Does anyone know how to enable 4G for the second slot?

Is it so? Here it is said otherwise.
On the official Oppo site it is said "4G Dual Sim" - that makes me think that both slots are supposed to support 4G.

Sorry to clear it up you can not use both sims as 4G. If you use sim 1 as 4G sim 2 goes to 2G and the same with sim 2 as 4G sim1 goes to 2G.

Wooohoooo!! Now that works for me - thanks a lot!
The problem was I could not set up the second slot to use 4G before I specifically set the first one to use 2G.
I though once you've chosen the sim to use cellular data it has the priority, but that was not the case.
Anyway I am happy to have it solved now - thanks again, 2007jchill !!

Xperia XZ (F8332 model) dual SIM configuration

I have a question about dual sim model. Do both sim card can work simultaneously eg. 3G like eg Xiaomi 5?
Most of dual models work with mode (2,3,4)G/2G or 2G/(2,3,4)G only.
Regards
One SIM must be in 2G. The other can be 2G/3G/4G.

Is that 2g , so no data phone only or just gprs?
I meant 2G as in phone or SMS only.

Any idea why is this limitation? I was trying to see it to LTE mainly to put that in VoLTE for calls and then realised either of the SIM only can be set to LTE.
On the XZ, I have sim1 on 4g and sim2 on 3g.

I've asked the same question to a Xperia rep. when I've purchased XZ dual in Hong Kong.
Both slots are 4G speeds, but if both slots are in use; highest speed of one slot is 4G and other limited to 3G max
They don't have 4G/4G support yet...
Hope this helps.
Well I was going to start a new thread, but this seems like the correct place to ask:
So if I have one sim dedicated to calls/text and a second sim just for data, the phone should operate the same as if I had only one sim which can do both phone and data?
Also if both sims are capable of handling calls, can i deactivate the phone of one sim card but keep the data active?

Both sims to access 4G network.

Is there any method to make both the sim cards to access 4g/3g network. Presently sim 1 only has access to 4g and sim 2 only 2g.

Currently, NO.
Among Honor/Huawei phones, only Recently launched mate 10 amd mate 10 pro has dual 4G Volte...rest all models just support only single 4G sim slot at a time.
Inorder to provide better battery efficiency Huawei provides 4G only on one sim at a time in all it's Honor devices except mate 10 and post models because a consumer mostly uses only 4G on a single sim at a time until recently.

They work on both lines, only you can not have both lines activated in 4G or LTE, you have to make the manual change of the line you want to use 4G or LTE.
Bit if I have LTE on SIM 1 and Í want use LTE on SIM 2, Can I just swith it?
