Both sims to access 4G network. - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

Is there any method to make both the sim cards to access 4g/3g network. Presently sim 1 only has access to 4g and sim 2 only 2g.

Currently, NO.
Among Honor/Huawei phones, only Recently launched mate 10 amd mate 10 pro has dual 4G Volte...rest all models just support only single 4G sim slot at a time.

Inorder to provide better battery efficiency Huawei provides 4G only on one sim at a time in all it's Honor devices except mate 10 and post models because a consumer mostly uses only 4G on a single sim at a time until recently.

[Q] Dual sim phone for korea

Hi everyone.
Is there any dual sim phone in the market that will work in 3G network at the same time?
I am currently here in korea, where phone only works in 3G (UMTS 2100 I think) signal.
So if I have a dual sim, 3G should work on both sim at the same time.
Thanks a lot.

have you tried this phones on both 3G networks?
I read some articles regarding dual sim phone that even though it supports 3G on both sims they dont usually work at the same time, 1 in 2G and other in 3G.
Thanks.
Yes there are many types of phones came with 2 sim cards.
such as samsung & lg
but i heared about a piece that you can buy it seperatelly and insert it into the phone which make it possible to fit 2 sim cards at the same time

yah, i saw a lot of dual sim phones.. but the problem is, if it will both work at the same time in 3G networks.. since only 3G signal is supported here in korea..
I know this thread is old, but I have the exact problem right now. Dual Sim in korea, with one korean and one foreign sim card does not work!
Too bad...

Xiaomi Mi 4C: 2 IMEIs, or 1 IMEI for both SIM slots?

I'm looking to purchase a Xiaomi Mi 4C, but I plan to use it with a 2G SIM (voice/text) and 3G/LTE SIM (data) on the same network.
Can anyone verify whether the Mi 4C has 2 unique IMEIs for each slot, or does it have the same IMEI for both?
Isn't imei linked to the actual phone and not sim cards? And what is your budget as there may be a better phone I.e. Zuk Z2

The phone has a single IMEI. I suppose you know that means that the phone is dual-sim standby, so if one SIM is active (in a phone call) the other SIM reports as turned off.
You can run one SIM on 4G or 3G and the other on 2G but that's it -- I run data on one SIM and receive phone calls on the second with no problems. It's a decent system -- phones with two IMEI numbers are much better, but also more expensive.
Thanks for the input!
I guess I should clarify. I have two SIMs from my carrier (Rogers - Canada) - one of them is prepaid, voice/text only, and the other one is a data-only SIM. They are on different accounts and have different phone #s.
I'm just worried that if the phone tries to register on the network with the same IMEI on the two different SIMs (different account/phone #s), the network might not allow that.
I use two SIMs on the same carrier -- one's a business SIM with very little allowed data traffic and one's a prepaid with 4 GB of data. I have no problems, but then, I'm on T-Mobile in Europe and I can't guarantee it'll work in Canada.
The only thing I can think of is calling customer support and asking if they track IMEI numbers.

I don't know, it may have, but that phone was released more than 2 years ago. Find a dual sim full active phone today and look at the prices.
My 2 past phones had 2 IMEIs and were dual standby. Elephone P6000 and Huawei P8 lite. Mi4C seems to have the same IMEI for both sims (actually reports 2 IMEIs baut they're the same...)

Dual SIM 4G+3G or only 4G+2G ?

I'm contemplating a purchase for a Mate 9 with dual SIM capability ( from Kogan Australia). It's advertised with dual SIM. For me, the secondary SIM would only add value if I can use it on 3G, while I keep the main SIM on 4G.
But in some documentation, the secondary SIM only supports 2G. Has anyone successfully used Mate 9 with 4G+3G SIM combination.

For sure....! I also think 4G+4G can work...
If the Australian version is the same as the European version it will support 2G, 3G and 4G on SIM 1 whilst SIM 2 will support 2G and 3G.

3G would be great on SIM 2. The problem I'm trying to solve is that our Australian telco ( Optus ) has severely degraded its own mobile network, to the point where we can't receive voice calls anywhere in our suburb. LTE used to work well, not any more. On the other hand, they improved somewhat on their 3G network. My wife is still in contract with cheap plan. So I could arrange a dual-SIM where SIM 1 is on 4G with another telco, while SIM 2 stays at 3G with the old telco. Things may improve for their network, or the company is going down, we shall see.
4G/3G is how it does it.
Both will support 4G but you'll need to put the switcher setting on your homescreen so you can switch quickly - you can't have both on 4G but both will support it. The other will be able to use 3G.

Second SIM - only 3G ?

I have an European model U11 Plus, Dual-SIM, 6GB, 128 GB, and just goat a second SIM card.
I see in the settings that the secons SIM can only be configured as 3G, no 4G option.
Is this true or am I missing a setting ? Was expecting both SIMs to be 4G.

you can not run both SIMs in 4G mode.
When you have two nano SIM cards inserted on your phone, only one card can connect to the faster 4G LTE network. The other card will connect to the 3G/2G network.

Indeed, what is already an improvement over the older phones who where 'stuck' on 2G only even when only the second SIM was activated (and so the first SIM disabled).
For the U11+ if you disable the first SIM automatically the second SIM will be able to work even with 4G+.
But it shouldn't matter since if two SIMs activated you can run the data over the other SIM. Unless you want to try VoLTE for your second SIM phone number.?

Is it true when you enable 5G you lose dual sim functionality?

I just heard it from one of the reviewers and I needed to confirm it from one of the experts here

Nope..you can just have 5g on one sim card available. Second sim can be still used for phone calls etc..
Hint: i am no expert...but common sense should apply
Yes 5g will disable other sim.Just tested

so you say when 5g is enabled, phone is only single sim? I thought one 4G + one 5G. Could you please try if SIM2 can work with 5G? or 5G has to be SIM1?

When 5g is enabled, phone is only single sim and sim1or2 doesn't really matter.
Yes poco said that when you use 5G phone will be single sim till they will give update that will make 1 sim 5G and other will be 4G
You just have to read the user guide.........
About Dual SIM:
• Supports Dual SIM cards with no carrier restrictions, single 5G or dual 4G
connectivity ①
• Supports Dual Nano-SIM card slots, either card can be set as the primary
card
• Supports single SIM 5G/4G+/4G/3G/2G
• Supports Dual SIM 4G+/4G/3G/2G
• Supports Dual SIM VoLTE HD calling ②
Note ①: 5G support depends on the local telecom operator’s network; if
the primary card 5G is enabled, the secondary card will not be available;
subsequent software upgrades will include support for primary 5G and
secondary 4G/3G/2G card mode function in dual-card situations.
Note ②: VoLTE service availability depends on the local telecom operator’s
network and service deployment
Not so complicate....
So according to the user manual dual sim support while 5g enabled is coming with a future update? the phone is five months old, did the promised update come through yet? are all other ROMs available for this device have the same issue?
The promised update is yet to come .

The phone was launched 5 months ago but probably due to the pandemic there is surprisingly little development and discussion from the community's side. Barely 4 roms.
I have been waiting 2 months now to upgrade because there is no way I ever use MIUI.
Last week LineageOS was released, but it's Android 10, and only initial build.
I will probably wait or lineageOS 18 before I buy this phone, but this means waiting few months the way things are going.
Dont forget that very few people use dual sim on their phone... Not a priority to fix ;o)

I would say there are more dual sim users than 5G users, maybe that's it.
