Hey all,
First time I've tried playing audio via handset, and I've noticed when the screen is off that the audio is stuttering. I'm using Poweramp, and have checked a box that sets up a wakelock for it to fix the problem.
My question is, does this happen with all audio programs? Is there a way to fix it? Changing battery optimization didn't help at all.

Hm... Pretty lame. I wondered why Signal kept the screen on during calls when it didn't on my OG Pixel running 10. Thanks for the help!

Has anyone else experienced a stutter in music when playing music with Nitrogen and then turning the screen off? It plays fine normally with the screen on but when ever switching it off it tends to skip frequently.

Hi thanks for the reply, however that is not the problem. When using that "screen switch off button", the music does indeed not stop but it tends to skip and jump, almost as if I was running loads of applications and it was struggling to find the resources to play properly. I don't have anything else running and so this isn't the case. Im thinking it may perhaps be an issue with the custom rom Im using as the manila tab music player doesnt work properly either, guess I should try flash a different rom and see!
I too have this problem - I have the custom O2 ROM. It got so annoying that I reverted to using the Windows music player, which does not share the issue.

its a strange one isn't it. On my Touch Pro 2, scrolling through the list of songs used to be jittery like it wasn't fast enough to handle it, on the HD2, scrolling is fine but suffers the music playback problem, strange!
The issue has been happening for a few months. I've reinstalled CM 11 several times and whenever I replay Instagram videos sound work but the screen only shows the original still image. It works fine using any stock ROM and always has.
Could someone help me fix this? Thanks!
Maybe go with another rom?

I've been using CM11 since it came out and never had a problem with instagram or any other apps.
are you sure it's the rom?

yeah it is, I've went to several CM 11 nightlies throughout the weeks and the issue is persistent and only with CM 11. been though lots of other ROMs too without the problem.
basically, when replaying a vid on IG the screen looks frozen but the sound it still playing like normal.
Anyone, some say it's related to how CM11 relates to video apps with webview in the default browser. I would even know where to start :/
Someone got a fix?
Hello all,
There is a consistent issue that i have been dealing with ever sense the Oreo update rolled out that I have not been able to find a solution for. At times ( watching a Youtube video/ listening to music from Spotify) media audio would begin playing from the phone as if it was ring/ notification audio. All sounds coming from the phone would get cut back in volume by a significant amount and the bottom speaker stops firing completely.
This only seems to happen once I interact with the app after starting to play the video/song (i.e i go to pause a video/ advance 10 seconds). From that point I would need to leave the app and come back for the audio to go back to normal.
As well I have been having audio video sync issues with the Youtube app that I have never dealt with before, related?
I have the US duel sim variant
I am on build number 47.1.A.5.51 , November security patch
I have tested with all audio settings on/off ( EQ, S-Force,ClearAudio+,normalizer)
I have checked the service test menu and everything is shown as calibrated.
Restarted the phone, cleared various caches for apps
I really am at a loss here, anyone else having these issues? Any possible causes/ solutions?
I had that issue on the first version of oreo... I found the latest oreo update fixed it. Maybe uninstall youtube app and reinstall again?
Were you able to fix this issue?
I have the same problem but for me it happens on all applications.
Mate 20 Pro on EMUI 10, although the issue was also there on EMUI 9
Hi all,
I have what seems to be the same issue but in Android 9 PIE, & latest build 47.2.A.10.107.
I didn´t had this issue in my Xperia XZ Premium G8141 (single SIM) , now it happens after switching to a Xperia XZ Premium G8142 (same phone, but dual SIM, same as you have).
In my case I get around opening volume controls and moving the ring and notification volume (with its slider) for some amount back and forth.
Y don´t use youtube so much (in the phone screen) then I cannot tell if it happens with youtube, but does happen in Spotify and it is very annoying to have to correct every now and then.
Then, same phone, completely different Android version, hardware problem?
Will appreciate any hints or troubleshooting tips from you guys.
When I have some time I will take a look to the kernel messages cable-connecting the phone for USB-debug.
Thanks in advance,
Take care,
Alvaro

Is it possible that you have YouTube with resolution optimization on Boost+? Because in my case, for instance, if I set the resolution optimization for Samsung Internet Browser (Beta), it becomes unable to go full screen with its built-in video player.

I thought it has the dark mode, but it hasn't. You can find it in the settings but if you activate it nothing happen..
I noticed that the performance is slightly better than Oreo. The phone runs faster and there are much fewer lags!
First I thought the battery drain got heavier, but after the second day it reached the normal drain, which we know from Oreo
Also I love the new stock launcher. It's like the Pixel-Launcher with the "at a glance" feature, just as the new navigation-gestures which we also know from the Pixel-devices.

It has a dark mode but it's very limited. When you activate it the quick settings in the notification area and some colour accents on the home screen and app list will become dark. It will not, however, change any other colours in the OS.
I'm experiencing some serious lag at moments.
On oreo I barely experienced lag at all.
Any advice?
I'm having lag/stutter in recent tasks... It was way faster in Oreo and I preferred the vertical layout.

If you have root, you can disable the StockLauncher and download another launcher from the PlayStore. Then you will have the vertical layout.
Updated mine in Austria by following the VPN method.
On first boot I face WiFi connection issues and also Bluetooth is not working fine. - resolved by the first reboot
I face a poor call audio distortion.
Videos, Music, etc. that uses the other loudspeaker is working fine but in phone calls using the other speaker I face massive saturation effects even with small volume.
I also tried to manufacturing reset my phone, without success.
best regards,
Mario
Correct. I updated mine yesterday and can confirm, poor call audio distortion. That thing drives me nuts.
The arrows on the network and wifi icons on notification is also a thing to remove, or at least give us the chance to remove it.
Besides that, i didn't see to much cases.

This is a widely seen bug for Pie which I personally find not acceptable in 'stable' release. Couldn't do a calls due to sound quality and reverted back to Oreo.
I wasn't able to upgrade to 9.0. I tried VPN method and it didn't work. Can anyone help me?

Mhmm, it only work for me when I used the CyberGhost-VPN-App (free trial). ExpressVPN or something else didn't work for me
Okay. So doing factory reset fixed the lag in recent apps.
But I did an antutu benchmark and the performance has dropped significantly from 78232 to 67477.
Anyone else can confirm this?
