Downgrading MIUI - Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC Questions & Answers

Hello, Is it possible to downgrade from 12.0.4 to 12.0.3 without bricking it? There is ARB applied i think, but still. I would like to try NitrogenOS Android 11.
Thank you.

If you flash through fastboot even if arb is triggered, it will refuse to flash the images.

Just to answer the question for everyone who is looking for the answer.
Downgrading from MIUI 12.0.4 to 12.0.3 WORKS.
It seems that ARB is triggered only when you're downgrading from major Android versions to another.

I took a risk & downgraded ok; but it wouldn't take without Data format. But had backup

Just download fastboot ROM and flash it with fastboot command ./flash_all.bat (or .sh if you're on Linux like me)
Simple as that.

Hi, I did it all on device.
Tap on Mi several times to get additional extras. Then choose update package location option {you must have Mi file manager. If you debloated like me, download from play store.
Download rom, it MUST MATCH your own region & type, but obviously it will be lower version of 12. ie, 03.
Then with official Mi recovery rom, choose it, and it will reboot to recovery & do the rest.
You will loose all Data, you have no option.
Now I have my Sound back & live with the rest.
Hopefully 5 will fix everything. Good luck.

Doubt it very much, since currently there isn't a single surya/karna A9 ROM.

@pnin My problem with android 10 is the read only system partition. It feels like the device is not even rooted even though it is (with Magisk).

That's caused by the introduction of dynamic partitions to the best of my knowledge.
I don't like it, too, it makes hacking our devices incredibly complicated, but it seems there's no way out with PX3.
The answer is possibly to get an older phone -- I'm holding on to my beloved Axon7, still running an updated A7, courtesy of the e.foundation...

Nevermind. There actually is a solution to the read only filesystem problem in Android 10 and newer.
See solution below:
Works like a charm in Android 10 and later. Now my system, vendor and product partitions are read-write!

Great work.
Alas, my Linux shell foo isn't strong enough to comfortably follow all the implications of your script -- excuse the old Windows foggy...

Thanks. As we speak I'm working on version 1.15 that should also work for Windows and Mac users but as an amateur it takes a while to create it...
If you're good with compiling stuff for Android please send me a message thanks!

Is it possible to downgrade my poco x3 nfc 12.0.8.0 to 12.0.7.0 using recovery only??

Jesy J9S - Rugged brute, still...(two months+)

Hi!
I'm wondering if anyone here, or elsewhere, heard of someone who has sucessfully rooted and securely flashed this phone with a different ROM?
I'm still suprised that it still performs functionwise, like new after two months+ of battering and several underwater excursions with me at work on location at different construction sites, that the promised safety class of IP 69K still holds water and for a suspiciously low price...
So if anyone has a foolproof way of rooting it for
a better chance of personalizing 'The Brute'? Let me know!
Best regards, Niklas

Hi Dave136 !
Can you explain from what update exactly you picked the boot.img to flash ? From the link provided by Mr Roombag in this thread ? Cause it's a 6.0 stock version whereas the phone runs a 7.0 one...
What do you mean for your 4th step "patch in phone" ?
And why the step to copy boot.img to the phone as SP Flash Tools needs the file to be on the PC ?
Thank you to detail a little bit more !

I share web address. It is best for this phone.
I copy boot.img from last update (i flash this ROM) and path this in magisk manager, after this copy back to PC and flash by SP Flash tool. If you want flash all togedher with new ROM(must select or rename patch_boot.img).

Guidace on X3 NFC

Hello ppl,
I have a few questions I would like answers to, I got the Poco X3 NFC recently and I was able to unlock the booloaded properly with the official method (waiting the 7 days), but when I think about the root process is njot entirely clear for me.
Is there a way to root the android device without installing the custom ROM?? os is that a must?
I heard some Bank applications will not run in rooted phones, how usual is this? and is there a way to know which apps come with this resticction?
seems like magiks is a good choice for rooting as it keeps the original boot.img in the device so the rooting checks are not failed. how better is this? than other methods?
I am also wondering if there a process for reviewing the custom ROMs available over the internet? I mean how safe are those in terms of malicious code?
And finally what are the best custom ROMS out there for the x3 NFC that you would recommend in case I go for the ROM flash route.
thanks in advanced for any details
You absolutely don't need a custom ROM to get root -- all you need is an unlocked bootloader, which apparently you already have, plus a custom recovery like TWRP or OrangeFox to be able to flash Magisk. Evrything else, IMMV...
Thx pnin ill check deeper in to magisk then
I have another question.. in order to backup my current stock phone's partitions do I have to flash TWRP first? or can I get the backup done some other way?
It's possible there's a way to do this with ADB ("platform tools") and a computer that I don't know about -- otherwise you absolutely have to flash TWRP/OrangeFox first...
I am on Indonesian stock rom. And removed these apps via debloat in magisk module. I think its quite enough. You dont need custom rom. Magisk can hide root. So no worries.

I'm a De-bloater user myself -- but I wouldn't risk anything without a working custom recovery. Things tend to get pretty hairy as it is...

yeah seems like RCS is very important... I have reinstalled it.
Hey thanks for all answers, so I manged to get mine rooted, the TWRP works but is not persistent, meaning you cant flash it, but can boot it, so I booted and installed magisk with it, I now have rooted x3 NFC, and passing the safety net scans all green.. the only thing is I debloat some apps like mi video and other mi-services.. but after some time they re-appeared... any advises on getting rid of them permanently?

I found it, adb pull and the partition name, I took a 100gb image though so Is not easy to tamper with as it is too big, none the less I managed to complete the whole rooting process properly so I guess I can try again to backit up as it is.. but I can boot in to TWRP so I guess is not enirely needed.

Question How to downgrade from Android 12 to 11 ROM

Hi,
I have problem How can I roll back to Android 11 from 12 ROM.
I have DFE and root .
Please help me because my work apps don't work on A12.
as far i know there is no android 12 stock rom yet. perharps you are in a custom rom... if that is so.. you just need to flash stock rom with miflash tool and the androdi 11 stock rom version of your device (global, eu, china, etc...) but be careful with the *clean all *save user-data *clean all and lock scripts.... right now some apps detects the bootloader unlocked and maybe that's why your apps doesn't work. you also can try magisk (and magisk hide) to get your apps work again but topjhonwu (creator of magisk) have already drop support of "magisk hide" so is only matter of time for root also stop working
I don't I have rtn PC so I need do it in all in TWRP on phone .
also.. you can check if the rom you want to rollback does not brick ypur device with the "anti-rollback" system that xiaomi create...
use the cmd command "fastboot getvar anti" on fastboot mode, you will get a number (0,1,2,3,4) and check your rom that has the same or higher number....
for example:
if your device shows "anti: 2" you can only flash (trought miflash tool) roms with anti_ver_ : 2,3,4)
on the scripts of your stock rom "clean all *save user-data *clean all and lock you can check the anti rollback version of the rom by using notepad++ and looking something like this

again.. if you are in a custom rom.. you can flash android 11, but the fact that your apps wont work because you rooted your device has nothing to do with which version of android you flash... but if your apps detects that the bootloader is unlocked... you can only relocked again using the stock rom with the *clean all and lock script...
google tutorial on youtube.. there are plenty of them and in different languages
You don't understand my apps works on rooted device but not Android 12 I had few ROM like Arrow Os or PE and root and kernel but no problem now I try thee ROM of Android 12 and doesn't work at all.

you dont have pc and dont have access to data
now that is a very tough situation
do you have SD card?
Your not encrypted right?
Just wipe super, data (NOT Internal, so media file is safe), cache.
Then flash the ROM + DFE.
You'll be okay and stay decrypted.
But if you're on encrypted internal, you need to format internal in TWRP (lose all data + media)
Also
Magisk isn't dead.
There's Magisk 24 with new root hide solution Zygisk.
.... and big problems with lost root and email certificates... i´m just trying to return to Magisk 23 because of massive problems with version 24 sharing this with some more users ...

You have a Pro not a Duel. You will need this first, extract it and place all the files within it to /ProgramData/RSA/Download/romfiles/L79031(delete whats currently in this folder first, then move all the files you downloaded into this folder). Now run RSA and and flash the correct firmware for your Legion Pro. Upon boot, make sure to run System Update to the latest firmware available (you will have to do this two or three times).

Hey thank you, but I actually found a CN ZUI 13.5 ROM that I've never found before and flashed it, and it worked. I have Android 12 now, but my cellular still isn't working, and I want a ROM with Google apps by default- one more like the stock android. I assume that's the global version. Trying to go about unlocking my bootloader and flashing the Legion Duels ROM on my Legion pro, I've heard there is a way. Just need to find a good tutorial.
@xXHotBoxXx420 ,
Here is a guide that will work on this device, make sure you read it carefully and backup what it states. I suggest you read this other guide first so you can recover from any mistakes.

Helpful, but I'm wondering if I can do it the other way around; CN to Global rather than Global to CN. I'm sure it probably works the same way, backup partitions and all that. I just figured you had to unlock the bootloader to be able to flash other ROMs but I have flashed the ROW & EE ROMs and ended up with crashdump/bootloop. Didn't realize flashing partitions could fix that. I think I'll give it a try. Thanks

Doogee N20 - Some phones are just hard to modify

After finally unlocking the bootloader, installed TWRP 3.6.0 and rotted with Magisk v23.0. Lets find a custom ROM that suits this phone - WRONG!
I have tried many types of ROM and so far it ends in soft brick. Need advise if you have any. My aim is to install a basic custom ROM , install pico or nano GAPP, and only install like 4 apps on it. phone, sms, navigation, music player etc.
I have tried the following ROM:
Phhusson-treble AOSP andriod version 9, 11 & 12.
GSI arm64 ab ROM
a so call stock ROM
I also tried installing the vendor.img as described here
I would like to use LineageOS but there doesn't seem to be one for this phone
I am now resorting to installing the stock firmware to make the phone work again, instruction here
If anyone has sucessfully rooted this phone using a basic ROM and GAPP please share how you did it and where your download was.
Why did phhuson fail ? That's the basic gsi, every other gsi are build on top of that. If that doesn't work, nothing will.

I install - system-arm64 –ab
I did some research that the Doogee n20 is a arm64 and a+b .... Unless I got the wrong information.
I suspect there maybe some stock firmware files that needs to be installed as well to make it work properly.
A post said it needs vendor.img, I might try sourcing another copy.
Follow up - I got it un-bricked with the stock firmware (android 9) (link in my original post) .... Back to square one .

Hey man, did you get it fixed?
Actually this device is A-only, but you should use Gsis A/B.
Most Phh based Gsi works almost perfectly for me.
You can try this:
- Download and install Twrp 3.6.1 here
- Download LineageOS 18.1 (lir) here Choose "arm64 bvZ" version
- Download stock rom here or Y9Plus variant here
- Extract the Gsi, and the vendor image from the stock rom
- I restarted in Twrp, go to wipe and select system, data, cache...
- Go install and flash the Gsi as system image, and vendor as vendor image
-reboot
