I've been using the Verizon branded Note 20 Ultra for over 2 months and the battery life started off great. My 4G speeds were consistently good and in many cases faster than 5G on other carriers. Since getting the 5G update in mid October, data speeds were the same on 5G as 4G and actually worse in areas where it switches between the two. Battery life is now terrible with about 20-30% less battery after 12 hours than before. Is there a way to disable 5G until the buildout is more consistent? I've tried using LTE/CDMA instead of Global under network settings but I'm not seeing much difference.
I had the same issue, the new update to 11 fixed mine

Hey guys just wanted to know how does different network/radio affect the battery life? I am on rogers.. if I am on LTE I usually only get about 10hour or less on 3G I can go for more then 2 days...
There is no easy answer to this question. Battery life is often a function of network reception, which varies drastically by location. If you are seeing such a huge difference from being on LTE, its possible you are in a fringe LTE reception zone and the phone is constantly scanning and trying to connect to LTE and draining the battery. Flashing a different radio may help, but its not necessarily a silver bullet.
Battery life always varies quite a bit from person to person, even regardless of LTE. LTE adds another level of complication. I'm on LTE all day, and I can easily get 24 hours or more before needing to charge. I think some on here have mentioned getting 2 days on LTE.
I'm on LTE 24/7 and my phone makes it through days no prob. I do charge each night while sleeping, but that's to be expected IMo.

So I'm finding that my LTE coverage is pretty spotty at best in Seattle, in Shoreline (city just north of Seattle) it barely gets a signal and is usually on 4G, but in Lynwood I get a great LTE signal... It's kind of strange that there would be a gap in coverage.
Also, has anyone noticed severe battery drainage since the LTE network went live? My phone's battery has been dying really quickly with phone standby using almost 33%, and phone idle using another 30%.

I own the samsung note 10 plus 5g (uk version )it's a great phone and it has the best battery life of any phone I have ever owned .
I regularly have 50-60 % battery at the end of a day .
Untill this week I had only had the chance to try out 5g once.
I was working in Cardiff last month for only 4 hours or so but in this time I was able to run 5 speed tests in 5 different locations around cardiff .
Download speeds were good but not great, between 120 to 300 at best ,the down side to this was battery usage.
During speed tests I would lose 3%, but more concerning was the battery drain when the phone was in standby.
I lost 70% of battery life in the 4 hours of being in cardiff which did include 5 speed tests .
This was my first experience of 5g on my phone and I was not impressed .
This week i started a new job in a very small town which has full 5g coverage .
On Monday I started my new job and had forgotten all about 5g and the 5g experience in cardiff the month before , at around 10am having been in this 5g area for 2 hours I pulled out my phone to check the time and noticed the phone was very warm to the touch.
Then I remembered 5g , i check my battery percentage and was shocked to see I was on 70% already.
I never used the phone all day and my 5pm my phone was on 18% , this was just from standby.
The next day I disable 5g before getting to work and by 5pm this day I had 74% left .
I spoke to ee technical support and samsung technical support about this and they were both clueless saying the phone is working normally.
I did a factory reset and my FW is updated and it's still same .
As is Samsungs application of 5g in my note 10 plus is unusable .
If your thinking about buying into 5g I would recommend you think again .
The technology is clearly not ready yet .
If anyone else is having a better 5g experience then I can you let me know .
I think it's a samsung software problem, maybe they made it so that on 5G all apps start working on background?
Anyway, heat & drain is normal for 5G, but somewhere they say Sprint's 5G drainsalot less than other carriers, maybe it's ofyour service provider?
The same problem happened when they first released 4G phones, back in 2012
Note 10+5G battery drain issues
I turned on 5G and my battery was at 30% after 11 hrs of use. Next day I turned off 5G and only used 4G LTE and my battery was at around 62% turning on 5G drained my battery almost 30% it does not make sense spending an extra $300 for a 5G phone when it drains approx 30% faster than 5G LTE
As Mohamedkam000 noted, the same thing happened when the first LTE capable phones came out. Battery life was abysmal then, and it should come as no surprise that the first 5G phones will likely have terrible battery life as well. I live in a 5G city, but I have absolutely no interest in, or need for 5G. The only reason I'd even consider buying a 5G phone is for the larger battery, but I'd disable 5G and use LTE instead.
If you need 5G and live in a 5G city, then more power to you. But don't be surprised if you don't make it through the day without bump charging. That isn't a problem for people who have constant access to a charger. But if you don't like to be tethered to a wall, or don't have a job with a wireless charger within hand's reach, then you might want to reconsider jumping on the 5G bandwagon.
I read there will be a software update coming soon to fix the battery drain issue. The only update that i've received so far is for the security patch January 2020
So I have the note 10+ 5G from T-mobile and the battery life is terrible, is anyone else in the same boat as me? Not sure what's happening because I had an S10 5G and battery on that was amazing but for some reason on this phone its terrible.
Yes, I have this problem and I have not found a solution
Could this be related to the GPS + 5G issue people are seeing? GPS is having issues locking on when 5G radio is in use.
he 5G radio of the terminal is a problem when the antenna that it emits, does it in a frequency and distance that is not yours ...
If the terminal is switching between 4G and 5G it consumes a lot of battery
It is more rare, the case, if as it says with an S105G and a Note105G has a different problem, especially when both terminals are cousins with screen variables (spen) and camera settings and little else

I agree with the battery life is terrible.
Since a last update, I'm getting a lot less coverage in both 4G and 5G in same spots.
Is there a way to do a radio downgrade?
Anyone?
I don't get out a whole lot, but I haven't noticed any change in performance when using the phone. But, I also haven't been staring at the signal meeting collecting data. In my history with Sony phones, I have noticed changes in the signal meter reading some times from update to update with no change in performance. I always took it as a change to the gauge calibration.
Are you measuring network performance and link speed or just looking at the bars on the display gauage?
I drove across town yesterday and signal was just fine the whole way. Mostly 5G coverage where I live. I also walked through several hospitals and coverage was fine. I use T-Mobile.
