Anyone with Note 10 + 5G battery life terrible? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

So I have the note 10+ 5G from T-mobile and the battery life is terrible, is anyone else in the same boat as me? Not sure what's happening because I had an S10 5G and battery on that was amazing but for some reason on this phone its terrible.

Yes, I have this problem and I have not found a solution

Could this be related to the GPS + 5G issue people are seeing? GPS is having issues locking on when 5G radio is in use.

he 5G radio of the terminal is a problem when the antenna that it emits, does it in a frequency and distance that is not yours ...
If the terminal is switching between 4G and 5G it consumes a lot of battery
It is more rare, the case, if as it says with an S105G and a Note105G has a different problem, especially when both terminals are cousins with screen variables (spen) and camera settings and little else

5g battery drain anyone ?

I own the samsung note 10 plus 5g (uk version )it's a great phone and it has the best battery life of any phone I have ever owned .
I regularly have 50-60 % battery at the end of a day .
Untill this week I had only had the chance to try out 5g once.
I was working in Cardiff last month for only 4 hours or so but in this time I was able to run 5 speed tests in 5 different locations around cardiff .
Download speeds were good but not great, between 120 to 300 at best ,the down side to this was battery usage.
During speed tests I would lose 3%, but more concerning was the battery drain when the phone was in standby.
I lost 70% of battery life in the 4 hours of being in cardiff which did include 5 speed tests .
This was my first experience of 5g on my phone and I was not impressed .
This week i started a new job in a very small town which has full 5g coverage .
On Monday I started my new job and had forgotten all about 5g and the 5g experience in cardiff the month before , at around 10am having been in this 5g area for 2 hours I pulled out my phone to check the time and noticed the phone was very warm to the touch.
Then I remembered 5g , i check my battery percentage and was shocked to see I was on 70% already.
I never used the phone all day and my 5pm my phone was on 18% , this was just from standby.
The next day I disable 5g before getting to work and by 5pm this day I had 74% left .
I spoke to ee technical support and samsung technical support about this and they were both clueless saying the phone is working normally.
I did a factory reset and my FW is updated and it's still same .
As is Samsungs application of 5g in my note 10 plus is unusable .
If your thinking about buying into 5g I would recommend you think again .
The technology is clearly not ready yet .
If anyone else is having a better 5g experience then I can you let me know .
I think it's a samsung software problem, maybe they made it so that on 5G all apps start working on background?
Anyway, heat & drain is normal for 5G, but somewhere they say Sprint's 5G drainsalot less than other carriers, maybe it's ofyour service provider?
The same problem happened when they first released 4G phones, back in 2012
Note 10+5G battery drain issues
I turned on 5G and my battery was at 30% after 11 hrs of use. Next day I turned off 5G and only used 4G LTE and my battery was at around 62% turning on 5G drained my battery almost 30% it does not make sense spending an extra $300 for a 5G phone when it drains approx 30% faster than 5G LTE
As Mohamedkam000 noted, the same thing happened when the first LTE capable phones came out. Battery life was abysmal then, and it should come as no surprise that the first 5G phones will likely have terrible battery life as well. I live in a 5G city, but I have absolutely no interest in, or need for 5G. The only reason I'd even consider buying a 5G phone is for the larger battery, but I'd disable 5G and use LTE instead.
If you need 5G and live in a 5G city, then more power to you. But don't be surprised if you don't make it through the day without bump charging. That isn't a problem for people who have constant access to a charger. But if you don't like to be tethered to a wall, or don't have a job with a wireless charger within hand's reach, then you might want to reconsider jumping on the 5G bandwagon.
I read there will be a software update coming soon to fix the battery drain issue. The only update that i've received so far is for the security patch January 2020

Battery life terrible since 5G update (Verizon)

I've been using the Verizon branded Note 20 Ultra for over 2 months and the battery life started off great. My 4G speeds were consistently good and in many cases faster than 5G on other carriers. Since getting the 5G update in mid October, data speeds were the same on 5G as 4G and actually worse in areas where it switches between the two. Battery life is now terrible with about 20-30% less battery after 12 hours than before. Is there a way to disable 5G until the buildout is more consistent? I've tried using LTE/CDMA instead of Global under network settings but I'm not seeing much difference.
I had the same issue, the new update to 11 fixed mine

Question Is LTE version really heating?

I have ordered LTE version and now I read in some forums and Youtube that Bluetooth version is working fine in every aspect but the LTE version is getting heated too much, especially while calling
My question is does everyone have the same opinion ? It is getting heated only when LTE coverage is low ?
Does it get heated while calling using standalone LTE mode or heating is there even if stream using watch LTE ?
Is there any chance Samsung would fix it or it could be because of Exynos or other hardware issues?
No heating issues and have LTE always on. My signal has good 4G coverage...
Yes, overheating is an issue for me especially when signal is low. Low signal makes the gw4 overheat in about a minute. When calling with good coverage you should be able to talk at least 5 minutes before overheating. Standby on LTE is not an issue if not transferring lots of data.
I don't have any heating problem... until I switch to LTE.
When using the Bluetooth, the battery drain is minimal, and the watch stays cold.
When using LTE (no problem with the signal), the watch heats a lot, especially when it's trying to connect to the phone. Yes because We don't receive most notifications if the phone is not connected. Battery drain is also huge. Like 4 or 5 times the Bluetooth usage.
I wanted to send it back, but tbh, I don't leave my phone away that often. Except in the swimming pool or the shower, where heat is not an issue, I almost always have my phone at Bluetooth range.
So I kept it, that's a good watch, the biggest flaw is the battery life.
I have both 44mm and 46mm and both overheat un low signal areas while on a phone call
As others have said, if you have LOW signal, cover it up or whatever to create low signal it's gonna overheat and suck your battery dry. The GW3 LTE did the same thing.
I sleep with my arm UNDER my pillow. I've learned to turn off LTE at night or I'll enjoy a nice dead battery and missed sleep tracking in the morning.
I wonder if the Apple watch has these issues?

No. The calls I made were VoLTE. Still overheat. Small amounts of Data is OK like notifications. Just phone calls cause problems.

Do you own Classic varient or the normal varient? It is learned that only the GW4 over heat and there is no issue with classic varient.

You have GW4 or GW4 classic? According to the latest info it seems heating issue is with GW4 only and not with classic version.

I have both! And BOTH overheat. The classic might go a few more seconds before overheating but both do it

I am still waiting for my pre-order of GW4 to arrive. GW4 is thinner than classic and if slimness is the reason for heat I thought I should cancel GW4 and reorder Classic version, that's why asked.
Just adding my experience. I have both a 46 Classic and a 44 Regular/Non-classic. Both overheat (in fact the Classic seems slightly more prone to it but only slightly).
Overheating occurs when LTE signal is low, and actively using the LTE connection (calls, updating/downloading an app, streaming music etc.). Just being on standby / remote connection to phone to display notifications seems relatively fine. Though the Non-Classic did shut down one time just receiving a text message.
I mostly have my phone with me, and LTE is just for emergency use, so I can live with it but it is beyond annoying. I would much rather they run modem at lower power / treat low signal as no signal than ramp up the power and cause phone to shut down.
My watch 4 44 LTE overheaths too when LTE signal is too low.

I'm in the exact same situation.
They have a lot of work on optimization.

General How's your batterylife experience with S22 Ultra coming straight from S21 Ultra?

If you used the S21 Ultra as primary driver and then upgraded to the S22 Ultra, how's your experience with the S22 Ultra purely in terms of batterylife? Do share your thoughts. Thank you.
my experience, bad. In reviews, they claim that there is a 5-10% reduction, but in my opinion, it is at least 20% worse
Coming from a note 20 ultra. It has been worse. Battery drain while not using phone is ridiculous. Snapdragon 512gb. Hope a firmware fix is on its way.

Update to fix standby drain is a possibility. But what about battery drain when using?
This is my usage.....60 hz refresh rate...insta..WhatsApp...browsing...and 3 Google's accounts and one outlook in sync. I would say it's the same as s21. No real increase in battery life.

Keeping in 60Hz you used to get similar endurance with the S21U? If I'm not mistaken you got rid of S21U shortly after buying?

That is correct. I used to get similar endurance on S21 ultra. I sold it after 3 months as I wasn't happy with the camera and pro mode. Granted last year..there wasnt great smartphone cameras that were made..except 13 pro Max
it started off worse for me on the s22 ultra but has improved, i believe its slightly better now than the s21 ultra, battery life for me is like a rollercoater, some days i come out of a 10hr shift in work and ive only lost 15% and other days i lose nearly 45% so i cant explain what happens on certain days
I had the s21u and in the beginning it was the same or a bit worse on some days...Had the phone now for almost 2 weeks and compared to the s21u it's much improved. With my day to day use I could get 24 hours max on a charge with about 4 hours sot. With s22u I get with the same usage patterns at least 36 hours on a charge with 6 hours sot....There are some days of heave use with camera/video recording that it would last at the most 24 hours...This includes +- 6 hours when I sleep of idling of the phone

With such a huge difference, probably the usage pattern wasn't similar at all with the S21U or it was configured differently in settings or battery in the S21U depleted a lot I would say.
Actually the usage and setup was basically the same....for some reason my battery life was mediocre on the s21u....there were days when I got better battery life, but that didn't happen that often
Terrible compared to the S21U
This is my S22 ultra. My pixel 4a was better. Any recomendations what to do ? I have performed the factory reset yesterday and again google services are draining the battery.

Hey everyone, figure i start a thread on apps/etc that can be safely disabled, so that we can dial on on removing needless junk from our phones. I am currently running a Snapdragon S22 Ultra, SM-S908U 512GB (AT&T variant) so my list may vary...

With this Combination you get at least 30% more Battery Life or even double or more.
Just don't be a Victim Noob of preinstalled Software. lol.
I am getting similar battery life when Im not using my Galaxy Watch4. Syncing with the watch seemed to have been killing my battery much faster. Of course I havent reconnected the watch yet for like a week already because of that. It is possible it is a coincidence that the battery life improved at the same time I got tired of wearing the watch all the time.
So far the poll suggested that S21U had better batterylife.
Some web reports suggest that after installing the GOS disabling update("AVC9" build) the batterylife has improved. This is not mentioned in the changelog. Take it with a pinch of salt, install the update and observe if it's actually true..
Mine isn't bad. The pic shows 5h50m SOT with 37% battery remaining. My brightness slider is at around 33%. I've debloated a bunch of system apps with ADB and also I've used deep sleep on all apps I don't need notifications from #exynos

Could you use the phone only over 4G (No Wi-Fi) for a day and update the SOT and total runtime screenshot here (on 100 to 1% drain)? Thanks.

Question Battery drain in standby mode

Hello everyone!
I've recently bought a Pixel 7 Pro and I'm experiencing an excessive battery drain in standby mode. I've already set the phone in any way to fix the issue, I mean, in depth. I would be grateful for any advice, the battery of my 2XL is still performing better
Thank you in advance
How is your cell reception? If i leave mine connected to 5g at home it drains fast. but if i switch to 3g at home and 5g on the road battery life is incredible.
hello, do you use root to activate volte?
