Is it by design or am I having an issue? Whenever I receive a URL in an SMS message it is not highlighted and I can't click it to open. I also can't select and copy it to a browser search bar, I can only long press the entire message and copy the whole thing.

No issue hear. Try clearing SMS cache. If still no joy clear app storage which will also wipe your settings. Messages are retained in a separate (app independent) database and will not be impacted by above actions.

Love the new phone so far with one minor problem. Is there an easier way to delete text messages from the device? As it is now I have to press and hold on each message, then click on delete from the menu that pops up.
Not normally a big deal but if you get alot of sms notifications from various message boards/ texts / etc... its a royal pain to have to manually delete 20-30 messages one at a time like that.
if you go back one screen to the list of contacts instead of the list of individual messages, you can delete all messages from a single contact by long pressing.

Thats the screen I was referring to. My problem is that all of the forum notifications that I get come from a different "number" for each message/thread so they dont get threaded together. When I had my iphone 2G there was a delete all ap that cleared all of the messages at once. I loved that ap and was hoping for something similar, or another way to selected multiple messages at once (with checkboxes) then delete them as a group.
SMS backup and restore in the market for free has a delete all. Also lets you back all up to an XML file and restore, no root needed.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
i would suggest using a different mms client. i prefer handcent.
Is there no way to do this? Often I want to select text from one email to copy into another, or want to significantly edit a forwarded email thread. I tap away an nothing comes up to allow me to select text - unlike with documents.
IGNORE - found it, but it is cranky
The right pane of the notification area says "Select a notification" but nothing happens when I select any notification. I have few question for which I need answers.
1. When I go to notifications in the desktop software, I dont see the entire message in a notification and when I click on it, nothing appears on the right. How can I see the full message?
2. While using whatsapp, I keep getting lots of messages like "6 messages from 2 conversations." How do see these 6 messages? Nothing happens when I click on it.
3. For example if I get a whatsapp message from my friend Bob with a message "Hey.... how is it going? wanna make some plan for the evening? im free after 5, leave a message when free", the message will pop up with a full message for a glimpse but it will disappear after a while and then it will go to the notification panel like this:
Code:
[B]John[/B]
Hey.... how is it going? wanna make some p..
Now here if john sends another message, the notification panel will say:
Code:
[B]John[/B]
2 new messages
The second following message will not be shown on the notification panel. While in a meeting or at a place away from my phone, I can use my laptop to view notifications but cannot see because the notifications are grouped with messages like "9 messages from 5 conversations.". Is there any solution to this?
4. I was not able to find notifications in the Web interface of android, It has messages, apps, files, photos, muic, ringtones, videos, call logs, contacts, frequent, screenshot, camera, find phone and help but no notification. Is that to be installed somehow?
5. A lot of search on this brought me to this AirDroid topic of xda. So far I got only one place to look for my notifications. Thats in the C:\AirDroid\AirNotify100.db area. I opened that database in SQLite 3, it had all the fields like OWID, ApkID, Title, Content, MsgID, MsgDate, MsgFrom, Ptype, AppInfo, IsRead but the content and other things are in encrypted form. Any idea how to decode that? I added the decoding question in the general discussion too http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/sqlite-3-read-encrypted-messages-t2982672
Thanks
When I'm sending or receiving a text using the stock messages app, the entire message doesn't show if the message is long. It cuts down the message and has a "view all" button that will show the whole message in another page. How do I get it back to showing the entire message without having to use the "view all" button?
Unfortunately the stock Samsung messaging app doesn't have a setting to change this. You'd have to install a 3rd party messaging app instead. If you have Facebook Messenge, you can integrate SMS into that.
super annoying functionality.

This view all, does not make sense to me, why would any consumer want that, and not be able to change it is even worse. I like to keep my messages separate within their apps. I don't to integrate my messenger with my sms. boo.
I installed textra hoping it had this feature. Does ANY messaging app allow you to select & copy selected words (e.g an address or phone number) from within a received message? Haven't found any that allow this. Thanks
Selecting, copying and pasting by touching the screen is not dependent on the app, but on the android that came with the device.
I don't know how to handle such apps on Android TV, because I don't use it, but I suppose it should work when you press the mouse button or select text for a long time.
Android has a Clipboard functionality ( copy & paste ) implemented. Use GBoard to deal with it.
