best display settings - Sony Xperia 5 II Questions & Answers

I'm not long into the world of Xperia phones and find the display settings quiet overwhelming. Actually I stick with the creator mode but the colors looking washed out.
Can someone give advice for a good setting?
Much thanks.

I had the observation as you. Switched back to standard mode. Thought the creator mode will give better color but somehow didn't look that way.

I also asked the question in the Xperia subreddit. Someone wrote a setting to test. In the display settings toggle standard mode and the white values with manuel settings as follows: Red 66, green 39 and blue 0. So far it looks really good and I stick with this until someone comes with a better setting. You can try this and would like to see a feedback from you.

Tried this. It does look better. Black is darker. I will stick to this setting for now as well. Thanks.

New Color and brightness app Screen Adjust

For those looking to have further adjustment to lower screen brightness values even lower and even adjust the color tones somewhat, I discovered a new free app in market called Screen adjuster
Not only can lower brightness all the way down to 0, but allows adjusting brightness contrast as well as red blue and green. It works great!
it is called screen adjust. Even has widget so you can preset a dark setting if you like and one press enables it.
I find this app extremely useful for night time reading where even with the night mode the white text is too bright.
That and while using my eee at night my wife always complains it's too bright.
i couldn´t find the app. can you give me the download link please?
this is not a real screen adjustment, it runs *on top of the system* not only will it make your screen look like junk it will mak your homescreen scrolling laggy as hell, stay away

Actually screen filter runs on top. This actually really seems to darken it. I did notice lag one on home screen then home screen FC'd and after that it wokred fine. I sometimes get similar FC with out this app so not sure if it was to blame. All I know is I can now use my tablet in the dark without it being too bright.

I stand corrected it does run on top like screen filter. I tested during daytime and hadn't noticed. Either way it is another viable option.

This is a useful app. I notice that when its turned on you cannot install app.
WHat were the results of using this app in the daytime outside with sun???

Curious to know as well..
It'd be nice to be able to adjust the color saturation to make the GS 10.1
I made this app for educational purpose
Glad to hear if someone likes it
People with sgs2 like 'pseudo contrast'
I even didn't expect that it can be useful for someone ;0
Lags the tablet wouldnt reccomend this, example would be the scrolling of the home screen
On my SGS (and other smartphones) works great, but I try to look into what causes the problem on tablets
I like the initiative, good work!

KCAL display calibration settings for G Flex 2

Using this tool, we're able to calibrate our G Flex 2 displays without the need of an unlocked bootloader and kernel modification.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/kppd-configure-post-processing-settings-t3165247
Here are the settings I'm currently using on my H950 for Screen mode Standard.
Code:
[red]=248
[green]=235
[blue]=244
[hue]=0
[saturation]=271
[value]=255
[contrast]=265
[invert]=0
Maybe someone with a colorimeter like a Spyder or the like can help get a better calibration?

Ok, so open ROM Toolbox Lite tap on Scripter. The tap the + sign and create. Name the script KPPD Start or whatever you want. The in the commands section type in:
Code:
kppd /system/etc/postproc.conf
Save it. Then you'll find it in the list of scripts. Tap on it and tap Set at boot.
Now, whenever you make a change to the postproc.conf file, you have to go back to ROM Toolbox and Run script to see the changes on the screen. It's a little bit of a pain the butt but it's the best we can do with the locked bootloader. We don't get the real-time editing with any of the KCAL apps.
Thanks it worked!
I'm trieng to get rid of those yellow tints i have on the display by changing the gray scale hope it works

Sweet! Do share your settings when you're done. I had a lot of green that took out.
my config :
[red]=240
[green]=220
[blue]=255
[hue]=0
[saturation]=255
[value]=255
[contrast]=255
[invert]=0
by this config greens is gone for me . i love cold and blue like sony displays and now its is very close to my favourit and natural colors .
I matched mine to my LG G Pad 8.3, which has been measured very close to the 6500k white balance standard. I also adjusted the contrast and saturation to get closer to my GS5 on Professional Photo mode. Here is my profile:
[mdp_version]=5
[pa_version]=2
[red]=256
[green]=235
[blue]=236
[hue]=0
[saturation]=265
[value]=255
[contrast]=260
[invert]=0
Please note: this profile is used on top of the Natural screen mode.

No . but you can use this app : "Darker Pro"
I use it and set on 60% is good for me .
Its possible to change the LCD Density? I have a H950 5.1.1 Rooted.
Also, what would be a good LCDDensity for this phone?

I used the date trick. Check for updates. Change the date to a month in the future. Check again. Go forward a few days. Check again. Etc.

Yea, I ended up getting a cool rep and they pushed it through to me via att chat. The same day my OnePlus got 5.1.1. Grrrr lol.
May I ask you for help with Flashing the KPPD file to unrooted Flex? I have tried Flash Gordon etc. and all ended with incorrect ZIP file. Thank you for any advice!
Flashing this with Flashfire borked my phone. It's been 20 minutes and no response from my phone. Dead. So just a cautionary tale.
UPDATE: Not borked. It just took 25 minutes. Odd.

Flashing anything with Flashfire on LG phones takes 20-40 minutes. The phone just sits there blank for 30 minutes and it seems like it's dead but it's really not.

This one looks good, but white seems a little off on my phone. Almost like a rosey tint to the white. Very subtle though. I lowered Red to 240 and that looks better to me on my phone.

"Ghosts" on the display

Hello everyone, this evening when I play with my s8 plus, i notice that when i swipe from one screen to another, there are "ghosts" goes from top and bottom of the device. The worst it is, when the bringhtness is set to center/low and bluelight sensor is on, ist that normal? I try to make a video and take the screen when I took the password. Phone is after latest update QDD, after I install it, i clear dalvik cache, after that I make factory reset. The phone after the update is little bit slower, and how i remember, befor update the antutu was showing acros 175000, now it is about 172-3000. Where can be problem?
The new video and photo what i take:
https://youtu.be/XBG1P0EqJRg
http://http://imgur.com/a/DCkpA
I see nothing on the pic and vid.
What ghosts?
Could you please draw in the picture and Mark the places with the ghosting?
Hello, yesterday I was in Samsung Service center, and they told me, that is normal display functionality. So I was going to the near shop and compare it to another galaxy S8+ and lets see the differences, my display is little bit purple, what i should do, they said I should wait to another update, but last update QDD im currently download and install it and the phone have still a little bit purple colors on some angles. PS: my phone is after QDD update more lagging than before, some ideas what I should do? I made Clear dalvik cache and after that factory reset.
If you are unhappy with a device costing 1k€ then take it back, I certainly would. I am not suggesting you have a lemon but let the retailer see the problem and if you are not satisfied insist on a new mobile. Mine, so far, is fine, zero problems (touch wood). If it misbehaves it will go back as it should.
Let us know how you get on.

I would suggest getting it replaced. However, if you have as much trouble showing them what the issue is as you are us, I doubt they'll swap it. You need to put up some solid color backgrounds and see what it does. The pics you're posting could just be banding in the original image. Not sure what to to tell you.
That's the problem when I try the service code and turn on the red, green, blue screen, everything looks OK. As soon as I go to the main screen or I go to the application menu, and the brightness is set to less than half, the problem is there. This is not a static picture, the "bubble" above moves. When I turn on the blue light sensor, so it's even worse, but if I give more brightness, the problem is not. Also, there is no problem in any application. It would be good to have someone who has s8 plus orchid gray, to check if have the same problem, or at least try setting the orchid gray theme. Anyway, when I compared it with the other s8, the display was more pink, and I did not notice the problem what I have.

Believe me. I cant swe any hosting.
What I see is a dark screen where it should be dark.
I have orchid grey and I can check something for you.
PS. I checked every single picture posted here.
BTW. On yt video the animations are very slow. It looks like you turn on the specific option on the developers setting.

Cannot Enable SRGB Mode

Hi Everyone,
Under Developer Options, I've been unable to enable SRGB mode. When I select it and exit out of Developer Options, nothing changes whatsoever on the screen. When I go back into the Developer Options, the SRGB mode is back to being unchecked. No matter how many times I enable it, I get the same exact result. Doesn't seem to work. Is anyone else having the same experience? Thanks!

Yes, it's a bug, will be fixed in a future update. Currently, sRGB toggle is non-functional. In the future, sRGB / vivid color profile switcher will be part of display settings rather than developer options.

Confused in Display settings ,launcher & Notificafions

Hello all I have just got a new N20 ultra, but can't finalise an appropriate setting of my display. The colours are too flat in Natural mode whereas in vivid its too saturated. Also when compared to my Xs max the screen looks yellowish. Images are natural with a slight punch of colours in iPhone. There seems to a green tint in screen as well. Ive tried the following settings in pic attached. Can someone suggest me the appropriate settings which makes display slightly saturated than the natural mode or the settings you have applied in your devices. Also is there a modded launcher of One Ui home in which we can install custom icon pack. The other launchers don't work well with launchers. Also is there a way that the content of the notifications on lockscreen is only visible when I unlock my phone?
Thanks

Have you just started using your note 20 ultra? iPhone usually have true tone on and it took a while for me to get used to it and comfortable but now I can't be without it.
I think since you have your iPhone besides you, you always get reminded of what you are comfortable with.
If you use your note for a while, you will get used to it and this is maybe not the answer you looking for but considered it as one possible option.

Hi thanks for your reply, I don't have true tone on in iPhone. Have you not tinkered your display settings?It's on default? Maybe youbare right I should stop comparing. But iPhone is very good in calibration. Also isn't there a way that the content of notifications is visible only when I unlock my phone?

Yes you can hide notification content on lock screen when it's locked. But it will still say what app i think and show icon, but it will say content is hidden. So once you unlock the content of notification is read able and no longer hidden.
Bump
I've found a way. Enable Natural mode in display then turn on Tritan in colour adjustment in colour adjustment. Keep the slider in the middle just when the screen turns bright ✌?.
