Has anyone been able to successfully restore backed up apps through Titanium Backup? I can do so individually but when I try and do a batch, it won't even do 1 app. Doesn't matter what selection of apps I try and do. Happens with all of them.

Haven't had this issue with my Fold2 as I'm not rooted, but I did experience this several months ago with a Lenovo M10 Plus. Batch restore refused to work. Turns out, the issue was "Verify apps over USB" being enabled within Developer options. Once I disabled it, TiB worked flawlessly. Ymmv.

Nice! Very welcome.
no prob, i use titanium for the last years too. I transfer the most with Smart Switch from my S10e to the Fold 2. Work perfect ! 2 old games with savegames, wow.
So you confirm me that titanium doesnt work anymore? What is the best app to backup apps and data and restore data? I tried migrate but sometime flashing the apps dowsnt work and even if i succed the app is not installed
I'm also having issues with Titanium; but my case is unique as I'm working on multiple android versions and various devices...
Most annoying is a brand new a11 with magisk that will install Titanium fine but the app crashes instantly every time so its useless... have tried various versions including some that are known working ... somethings wrong with the android 10 - or the a11 - or it doesnt like magisk... no clue... im trying on 15 different devices and failing every time every way with titanium.
I just moved to android 10. TiBu that worked 'fine' in android 9 now will no longer even backup. I get an error
'Insufficient backup space'
Despite there being plenty of space.
The backup location is on the secondary sdcard which has plenty of space. That's where it was in android 9.
There is no warning message about 'namespace' and it is set as 'isolated namespace' in Majisk.
Exploring further, I noticed (see attached) that the backup folder is 'not writeable'. (The existing backups are from android 9) But TiBu has storage permission.
Any suggestions?

So I have been using TB for years now, since back in the day that I had the HTC Hero and I have never had a problem with it until now. There are some certain apps that it will just not restore no matter what I try. It begins restoring the others just fine but when it gets to the same exact apps, it just stops and freezes.
I am using the Restore missing apps with data option.
I have tried deleting all backups and backing up again. I have tried verifying my backups various times. I have also tried not using batch restore for those specific apps (Going directly to that app and restoring just that one app with and without data, and it just hangs as well).
I am using SuperSU with my binary updated and busy box installed. I also changed the application processing mode to indirect. Is anyone else having this same issue? Its not on one specific rom, it happens on every rom I flash may it be stock based or aosp. I have exactly 112 apps backed up so when I have to force stop TB, and go back to uncheck the apps that are not restoring various times to restore the rest, it sucks especially since I am very picky with things working as they should.
Apps it will not restore:
Tippy Tipper
Subway Surfer
Nimble Quest
Battlefriends at sea gold
Commander (Star wars)
Instasize
If anyone has any idea what may be causing this and how to fix it, please let me know. Thank you beforehand!
What kernel do you have installed?
Stock CM that came with the official CM12 rom.
But either way, I have had this issue on every rom I have flashed.

I am having a similar issue. Diff device, but I couldn't find any other info. Oddly yesterday it restored no problem.
I was on a diff rom tho. Maybe I'll flash another rom.

If you go to the play store are you able to install them? I have had a few that i can't restore, but once I've installed them from the play store I can restore the backed up data. I haven't been able to figure out why some restore and others don't (unless they aren't compatible with the DPI and the Android version I've found a few that when you look them up in the play store they are not compatible)

I have been able to install them from the play store without any issue, I just can't restore them using TB no matter what I try. And its weird that its the same apps every time. So it is something that those apps have that does not get along. Can someone manipulate the situation and check on their end? I am running Illusion (Latest version from the 18th) and latest version of TB. See if you can restore those specific apps backed up from any rom.
Try changing the mount namespace separation setting in super su. I got that message when I first installed titanium it was a warning I don't know what it does or if it will fix your problem
I realized today that when backing up the specific apps after deleting all backups (Fresh backup), it rushes through those specific apps like as if it doesn't want to back it up but it doesn't give me an error message.
some apps don't like restoring to a different rom than they were made on.
Have you tried using the option in TB to create an update.zip you can then flash?
Hi there in desperation I come to this thread. Ive tried everything thats suggested in this thread and more.
TT backup Pro home page shows all necessary items like Root etc checked.
Problems with Pro:
1..Nandroid restore crashes immediately on item selection eg as soon as Menu Item Nandroid is selected Titanium crashes.
2..As mentioned by others, some apps wont restore; TT sits there in restore mode with nothing happening. This is on several apps.
3..Menu/Backup data to XML Bookmarks=yes Messages=yes Call log=crash/'Unfortunately, TT bup has stopped.'
4..Several other annoyances in reliability but the above are most important.
I have politely asked Titanium for support but they dont bother answering. After a few days waiting I gave the app a feedback of 1 on Play thinking that would get some response but no!
In 20 years of computer work, I have never had a software supplier with such a terrible support policy, and the feedback page for this app supports this comment.
Im sorry to have to come to this forum asking for help, but the Titanium folks leave me no choice.
As an aside I also use 'Backup Your Mobile' which IMHO is better at restoring settings and reliably restores apps with settings at no cost if you can put up with the ads.
Kind regards,
Alistair.
Since this post and no replies I have submitted 2 more support requests with TTBup support which is done via a web page interface. I even supplied a small video showing the problem. Alogcat does not report any errors which is odd.
Still no replies from TTBup support.
Hi guys, as the title says, I'm having problems restoring apps and app data both individually and through batch restore. I've tried changing the SuperSU mounting method, different versions of TB and changed the app processing mode. I've tried it all on the latest version of TB and the version before that. I have no problems backing up apps though. If I try manually installing the apk (after extracting it from the archive TB backs them up to) it installs fine. BusyBox is also installed, USB debugging is enabled and apps from unknown sources is also checked.
I would manually install all the apps, but I want app data restored too and it would be a very tedious job since I have quite a few to restore (some 173 apps) as I just updated to Marshmallow.
Any advice on what I could try next?
No advice, sorry. But I have the very same problem...
Might have been fixed in new update?

TB had an update today for Marshmallow support, so maybe that fixed it? Well, anyway I installed them with adb instead since I needed my phone today. I extracted all the apks from the archives and used a batch to list all my apks in a text file, then added "adb install X:\app dir" to the beginning of each line in the text file then changed the extension to .bat and found that TB would restore app data alone in the batch restore commands.
Code:
DIR *.apk /B>APKlist.txt
A fair bit of effort for all my apps, but I got them all back onto my phone eventually with all the data too. I'm happy now, but I'd still like a solution for future reference.
Todays TB update didn't fix it, at least for me.
Luckily I made the update to marshmallow so far only on a spare N7.

I wonder what the problem could be.... Do you know if there's an official thread for TB on here?
EDIT: I've emailed TB, waiting for a reply.
Same issue. It just hangs when trying to restore on Marshmallow.
I agonised over this for hours last night - turns out that the the fix for me was to switch SELinux to permissive mode.
Install this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=12506 -- open the app, switch to permissive, and give it another go.
I fogt the same problem for hours messing with everything I could think of and this fixed it thank you very much. I know it's a temporary fix until they get the application straightened out but hey its a fix

not sure why but if the app is already on the device(older version or with no data) then the restore works
so if i try restore an app(looks like only google apps are not restoring)..then tb just hangs at 0%...
once i manually install the app from the app store., tb stops hanging and restores the data?
maybe this can help someone figure out why restores wont work
I'm having the same issue with Titanium Backup Pro 7.6.0.1:

Updated Titanium's backup storage by searching the device for the Storage folder then 'Reload Application';
Set a filter to list my backed-up user apps from the Nexus;
Set Preferences - App Processing Mode to Auto Direct, and Auto Indirect;
Ran a batch to restore 152 missing user apps with data
Tibu counts through the apps very rapidly, but doesn't install any.
I also made an update zip of apps and data in the new device, and updated it from TWRP without success.
What's the problem?
Thanks
Hello.
I'm having the same issue on titanium 7.6.0.1:
I've tried integrating update system apps into rom but those apps disappear:
-google play store
-android system web view
-smart suite
-talkback
-google text-to-speech output
and the most of my apps are not working now.
I've tried restoring a backup of them I have in titanium backup, but when I click to restore it just don't do anything (it stays at 0% for ever).
My phone is now not connected to my google account anymore now and I can't even add it going to Settings/Account.
Tried rebooting phone but nothing changed.
How do I get them back and the other apps back to work properly?
Thanks.
As I have the Pro version I emailed Titanium support with the problem - but no reply yet.
TiBu seems to work sometimes but not other times and support seems sadly lacking for a paid app; so I copied my issue and a link to this thread to their support.
Have been unable to get Titanium Backup to work to migrate apps from my old phone to a new pixel 3. From searching around it sounds other people have had issues, but I have been unable to get TB to work.
Phone is newly flashed with Android 10 and google's factory images, after installing Magisk Manager to manage root I've tried the following:
a) install TB through the app store, if I do this TB hangs on restore, but if I install the app through the marketplace and then restore data in TB, that seems to work is some (not many) cases
b) install an older version of TB from apkmirror which was suggested in some threads, TB just hangs if I try that.
This thread suggested disabling "Verify apps over USB" would solve the above issue, but I had no luck. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/issues-restoring-titanium-backup-t4011085 and in this thread had the same issue https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3/help/pixel-3-setup-restoring-backups-fails-t3919228
Any suggestions on other things I should try to get TB to work? I've used TB for every phone migration for 10 years now, but am struggling to get it to work. Maybe another backup/restore tool is better, or maybe I should factory reset to Android 9 and stay on that. Thanks!
I couldn't restore a lot of my ~300 user apps, e.g. Zoom, Youtube, Advanced Root Checker, GMail.
All these apps are restoring for ever (hanging while restoring).
A lot others worked without any problem.
The main solution was to disable "Verify over USB" in developer settings.
I restored most of my apps with Indirect method, but later used Direct method (and tried on some of the others), which didn't make a difference.
However the suggested "Disable Play Protect" (in play store) didn't make a difference for all of my apps.
Youtube and Android Auto were the only ones that still didn't restore (still hanging), even with both options disabled.
Even the interactive method didn't help here.
May be this also affects other Google Apps like GMail, but I installed those manually from Play Store and connected them to my account, so I don't know.
I then installed Youtube via the market link and restoring via "data only" worked fine.
When looking at an app backup by Total Commander (just for fun) or Xplore, I see that all these apps seem to have split apks, so I guess that's the real reason.
You just don't use titanium backup i use swift backup pro it does the same job for me
I was able to restore TB backups after a full factory image wipe and Magisk installation.
I had to disable both "Verify Over USB" and "Play Protect" from the Play Store to get it to work. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this suggestion. Ti Backup has not worked on my Pixel 3 - ever.
Has anyone else tried backing up all the new "apps" with TB? I installed my wife's P3 (upgrade with flash-all minus -w) and have no issues at all except that media storage "app" will not backup. It never moves and even after 30 minutes of waiting crashes the system to the point of needing a reboot even if TB is force closed. All other new stuff backed up fine.

Not sure I understand your question, but if Media Storage is included in apps to be backed up you need to force close TB to even make the phone respond to much of anything since it is hung in the backup process that never completes. Either way, you need to reboot completely to function normally again.

Now I get your question. Fortunately, that has not happened to me. I have not had to reinstall or even clear cache/data in TB. The only thing I have done different is I've hit the home button that still responded (once I considered it frozen) and then opened TB in settings and force closed it before the reboot. Everything was fine after that.

No real steps. Just uncheck it from the list of "apps" that are checked when you go to batch actions-all/[run]backup new user+system apps & newer versions. Then execute the backup.

I think this might cause some issues for Titanium backup:
If your app targets Android 11, it cannot access the files in any other app's data directory, even if the other app targets Android 8.1 (API level 27) or lower and has made the files in its data directory world-readable.

Can't run my backup, because it hangs @ Backup "Media Storage", how to fix it?
I use LineageOS 18.1 on my Samsung Galaxy S10+
Same here. Pixel 3 running latest update from March. Titanium freezes on Media Storage.
I get the same hang on Media Storage App on Pixel 4a (5G) with Magisk 22 stable.
Any workaround yet? Also, has anyone actually tested a backup and restore of an app? I read elsewhere that the restores are hit or miss.
I got the same problem here on a 1+9 Pro with stock (rooted) Android 11.
Titanium Backup Will always get stuck on Media Storage 11.
Hi,
i need help. How can i restore a nandroid from one oneplus 6 on another?
I tried to do it but ended up in a bootloop to recovery.
Original phone is rooted (which shouldn't be a problem, right) and encrypted and secured with pin, fingerprint and face unlock.
Is maybe the encrption the problem, or has it soething to do with A/B partitions?
Both phones were on the same version of OxygenOS and i used the same version of TWRP.
Any solutions?
Thanks

But why would you want to do that?
Why won't you just transfer all your important files over to the other OP6 and just start fresh. Restoring your apps doesn't take that much time and you'll probably waste more time on getting your original plan to work.
It could very well be that encryption causes issues when trying to restore a nandroid backup.
It's the little things like for example all my open chrome tabs, or the whatsapp images that will be messed up after restore. And so on. It's just so much easier to continue where I left off. No restoring of apps and settings and whatnot.

But you can just save and restore Chrome sessions as long your logged into the same account right?
And I don't know why you think WhatsApp images will get messed up? Sounds more like a bad experience you had which was probably caused by an unfortunate bug/glitch or an user error. The build-in backup feature of WhatsApp never failed on me and just makes a backup on your GDrive and restores it when you log in with your number again. Manually transferring the WhatsApp folder is an alternative that works fine too.
And what are you planning to do when you get a new device? You'll definitely have to manually restore things then so why can't you now, doesn't take a full day to do so and actually works without issues. But to sum it up, I think you are wasting time by trying to restore a nandroid backup on an other device than it's originally created on.
You also might want to look into Titanium Backup, Migrate or it's alternatives. You can use those two apps to backup apps and their data and possibly more and restore it on a fresh system.

There are different apps for that such as Migrate, OAndBackupX or Swift which can backup apps as they are now and you can then restore them back to another device without any issues (particularly Migrate)
