Clear all button arrghhh PLEASE HELP - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Questions & Ans

Just got this phone and the clear all button on the recents screen is killing me! I press it to clear all apps and it disconnects my Bluetooth earphones and Samsung active watch
It's far too aggressive, any way to fix?

This phone is really disappointing the battery is great but it just doesn't feel as good as my old OnePlus 7 Pro
Any tips for improving how the multitasking works?

Looks that way unfortunately, even the gestures are ****e. The only good thing is the battery and that's because it kills all background apps ?

Root and install the miui launcher using Magisk module its really smooth and stable

Unfortunately MiUI prioritizes the battery issue too much, hence its legend that the Xiaomi lasts on the battery but they never mention the "bad" things it does for this, I went from an almost pure Android to the layer and this bothered me Also, what you should do is put the app you use on Bluetooth to avoid deleting it from multitasking and so it "solves", there are many things in MiUI that make it very bad

Why does my Z3 have such poor performance

I came from using an iPhone. The things I loved about iOS were the smoothness of the operating system (especially the animations and scrolling in apps) and the nice slection of apps that is available. Now I was up for a new phone last month and after serieusly considering the new iPhone 6 I decided to give Android another go. I really liked what google had done with android 5 and the new apps coming out were much more to my taste. I tried several phones in shops and my wife's One plus One. To my surprise the one plus was very smooth most of the time. Scrolling was finally almost without lag and it felt nice enough to use.
Now I decided to go for the Z3 as I loved the phone itself. As it has the same insides as the oneplus I assumed it would be just as smooth. It isn't. Its a lot more laggy and that is especially the case when scrolling in various twitter and rss apps. I annoys me to the point where I read want to ditch the phone.
I have tried several factory resets and even flashed the stock firmware (old and new) via flash tool. Whatever I do it doesn't seem to help. Why is the one plus (and the nexus 9) so much smoother than my Z3 when I use them side by side. Is there something I could try to improve this? Maybe performance will improve when we finally get Lollipop? I am at a loss.
Just a thought, but under Settings > Power Management > STAMINA mode, do you have Extended usage turned on?

I have. But I only when have stamina mode turned on when I don't use the phone for long periods. Otherwise it is turned of.
Try turning it off and reboot your device. Normally the Z3 is working buttery smooth without any lag or stuttering. When activating extended usage the phone should display a message advising you to keep the setting turned off if it causes too much performance issues. In my experience, once you turn extended usage on, it kind of remains active in the background until you actually reboot the phone, even if you turn the setting off. I also find that the performance loss coming with the extended usage setting is out of all proportion to its power saving abilities.
Tried but that has no effect. Still way less smooth scrolling through fenix timeline than scrolling through exact same timeline on my wife's one plus. Really strange. Games are comparable but scrolling in all apps is just poor.
what firmware are you using? before the latest update mine was a bit laggy, but even with extended stamina mode enabled all the time now, phone is super quick.

Tried reflashing it twice with full factory reset and still no improvement. I will say it is slightly less laggy though than it was on the previous firmware. Maybe its just i am used to IOS. But what bothers me is that my wife's Oneplus is much smoother while that has the same hardware,.

what apps do you have installed? my z3 next to other peoples iphone 6's and s5 etc, seems lightning quick, again with extended stamina enabled. maybe you have a rogue app or an app running in the background killing your resources?
No looked into that. That's not the problem.
Maybe the title of the thread is misleading. I agree the Z3 is snappier than an iPhone. That's pure speed though. What I am talking about is smoothness. Particularly when scrolling. That's when the laggyness is most noticeable

i never really thought about it before, but maybe because i am using apex launcher? are you able to try another launcher, do you get the same thing?
do you have any dev options enabled?
I use Nova Launcher. The launcher is fine. Its scrolling inside apps that is the main problem. And occasionally elsewhere in the os but going through homescreens is smooth

ok so its the apps that cause the problem then. how about the dev menu, do you have any options in there enabled? if so which ones.
Only Verify apps over USB and USB debugging.
hmm, not sure what else to suggest looking at. maybe someone else will have an idea? something is clearly not quite right though. have you tried using cpuz to see what your cpu is doing? do you get fullspeed on the cpu?

Just checked. It seems like the CPU is working fine though there are a lot of spikes when I only have cpuz open.
I think I will probably just wait and see what lollipop has to offer in a month or so and if it doesn't improve I'll likely switch back to an iPhone. Maybe my priorities are just in the wrong place for android.
Have u tried using any other Z3's as a point of reference? The comparisons that I've seen btwn the OnePlus & the Z3 seem to state near identical performance re: ui smoothness & stutter free scrolling, etc.
I, for one, have no such issues with my Z3 although I may not be comparing the same apps with which u speak of? I'm using Nova Launcher & the lollipop theme.

Unfortunately I have no way of comparing another Z3. All the apps that I use are not installed on the demo models in shops. I have been using my wife's oneplus now for 24 hours and the difference is immense. I would say it is almost completely lag free. A lot nicer to use. Such a disappointment for me as I really wanted to like the Sony more than I do. I now also notice that I very much dislike the glass back.

First thing
Please don't compare iOS to Android..they are both very much different platform and iOS manages memory very much efficiently and also their hardware platform is completely different from other companies.
Now About OnePlus > it uses CyanogenMod which is modded to work more efficiently than pure android or any other skinned android like SenseUI, XperiaUI or TouchWizUI.
Nexus 6 uses pure android which is way more light then other UI so you got the answer maybe why our Z3 lags...but i dont mind a little lag here and there..its quite normal its a phone after all..
My mom has the iPhone 6, I can't say its any better than my Z3 in function but the Z3 has a much much better battery life and is as smooth as the iPhone 6. Maybe you have an errant app/s, try a factory reset is nothing works. Most people who switch to Android from iPhone seem to prefer HTC Sense UI, my dad bought the M8 for that very reason. The Z3 is pretty close to stock and almost as good as Sense in my opinion and is stutter free in use.
I don't know about CM being more efficient because some review sites like GSMArena found the colors OS version of the Oppo phone to be better performing and having slightly better battery wise. CM is less cluttered compared to OEM garbage and has more useful options though.

SW2 and lollipop battery drain

I am causing battery drain after upgrading my phone to Android 5.0.2 - Nameless for Oppo Find 7.
My battery life shrinks from 2-3 days to 1.
I have actually mentioned much faster reaction, but battery life is on the edge of acceptance.
Do you have any idea, or similar experience?
Thanks a lot.

I have the same, less than a day on CM12 after 2 on KK. Bluetooth is screwed on CM12 for Togari though, I'm sure it'll improve once they fix it... Is bluetooth dodgy for your phone too?
What you mean - dodgy? Bluetooth works fine - with hands free at least. Even SW2 has much faster responses from phone comparing to previous Android versions.
I will ask creators of Nameless ROM then...

Bluetooth on mine stops working from time to time, and frequently needs a phone reboot to get bt audio working. As I say, that may be limited to the specific phone model.
Mine BT is quite stable - i have asked in forum here - http://www.oppoforums.com/threads/5-x-namelessrom-all-variants.22451/page-204#post-327785 . So lets see, whether someone pick up the topic ...

Owners Thread

Thought I'd make an owners thread where we can discuss about the phone, what we've installed, what rom, themes and customisations we're using etc.
Have to say quite impressive build, thought it was metal but the black is a dark navy blue
Was installing a few apps just generally using it and noticed the phone heating with light usage, anyone notice that?

No heating here...maybe its because i had a Mi4i before and that phone was heating. Really. After 2 minutes of use it was over 50°C and got throttled. I have never seen my Mi4c going over 40°C. Sometimes it gets "handwarm" i would say, but heating is definately the wrong word. I'm using 5.10.22 from xiaomi.eu.

Can confirm my 4c is absolutely fine with no heating as another former 4i owner. That phone would grind to a halt due to overheating despite using optimised kernels and through standard app usage (no gaming, taking videos, etc at all).
How are you lot measuring temps? I'm gonna flash latest build now and maybe cm later
We should have a whatsapp group for if we run into problems or anything!

We know what heating is
Never had such a poor performing phone like the Mi4i.
Mi4c is perfect
Hmm still noticing heat in latest update

Yeah, I had this when still on MIUI but it should show up as storage (as normal) as well
edit: @rob rich indeed, the 4i is even worse than other SD615 phones, maybe due to the compact form factor?
Anyway I'm still really enjoying CM apart from being unable to transfer data through USB. Must be something to do with my PC though as no one else seems to have this issue.
Definately Mi 4c though it doesnt have their remote app but I installed one from play store and its working good.
Did anyone get a 3 pin plug convertor? I got a 2 pin and one of the pins in bent. Also does it come with the micro usb adapter?
Im gonna try the smiui build then cm
No microUSB Adapter for me
Is the back camera flush fit to on the back of the phone? If I run my finger down from the top I can feel the 'rough' edge but its smooth from the bottom. What I'm saying is it slightly sticks out at the top

is there any way i can remove the text under the icons on stock launcher of MIUI ?
i was originally gunning for new nexus and walked right away after i saw the price. on my 2nd day of using mi4c, and happy with it. its gonna take some time getting used to miui, not having app drawer. but overall, i am happy and most likely going to root this phone soon and get rid of these useless chinese app(almost all don't work in Korea).

You could install something like Holo Launcher and have your old app drawer back.
@evank418, go to Android Development subforum and enjoy the CM-Mokee port!
I've been running it the last three days and it works smooth as silk, with only one bug that is the torch not working.
I received my Mi4C today and have to say it's a slick little phone, nice and thin, smooth operation and great screen. MIUI however is awful, I would like to change it. I advised evank418 above to install Holo Launcher and I did the same myself but it keeps reverting back to MIUI when I press the home button, which is a bit annoying.
Would anyone here know a way around it?
Played around with it a little bit longer and after flashing xiaomi.eu_multi_libra_5.10.8_v7-5.1 I was asked what launcher I wanted after pressing the home button. I chose Holo there and I'm happy! Now all I need to do is adjust some more settings, remove some of the bloatware and we're good to go!

Ram management

What to enable or disable to make it less aggressive?
Bump
Hi,
I have the same problem and it is f*** annoying! I have the 8GB version of the OP7pro and I don't know why the phone always closes my apps after a certain amount of time. I have disabled all (as far as I know) battery optimization features and also disabled the RAM booster.
In parallel I still run a Galaxy Note 3 with a really old custom rom, which has started to act a bit buggy now, but this phone does not overwrite MY settings and kills apps I want to keep open.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this behavior? Or is the only way to flash a custom rom again? I don't know if it is related to Oxygen OS or Android 9.
Thanks
GP
This is the problem with Chinese oems. Aggressive ram management, notification problems, not quite there cameras. Having the hardware is one thing. Software r & d is something else.
Can't remember exactly where I read it but...OnePlus is supposedly working on an update to "fix" the problem with aggressive killing of background apps as a result of all the complaints they receive concerning this issue. Something that can possibly help along with shutting off all battery/ram management is to lock your open apps to keep them open. While scrolling through your open apps you will see a three dot menu in the top right corner and one of the options is to "lock" the app which is supposed to lock it in memory/RAM. YMMV

Are we sure this isn't a Pie issue? I just came from a pixel 3xl and had the same issues in the beginning. Everyone blamed the 4gb RAM as the culprit. Google eventually updated a Fix but it wasn't 100% fixed. It was better but apps still closed to early. So maybe we're looking at an Android problem. Who knows

This is totally crap, I switched from my Note 3, which I still like very much (but only with AOSP based custom ROM) to OP because I don't like the way Samsung and Huawei gone to. I'm not rooted right now, so I can not tell what can be done with Magisk Modules or Xposed Modules (or other mods) on a Oxygen based ROM.
Can someone tell if this behavior can be stopped with mods or is the only way to switch to an AOSP based ROM again?
I wanted to give Oxygen OS a try but right now I'm not fully convinced with the current situation, even if OP is one of the fastest supplier for updates. I don't like it, when a manufacturer tells me what I can do with a device and what not. At least OP should give me the choice how strict the RAM management is and when I want to get apps closed.
Missing notifications is one other big point. Due to the fact that there is no notification LED and no AOD (STILL) I tried several third party apps to get a AOD, but the battery drain on this apps is heavy as f*** and they often do not work correctly, because the system prevents them to run correctly.
Does anyone know a good way to get a reliable way for notifications?
Thanks.

Not only that. 3rd party apps like notification buddy work but Google Assistant stops working once you install it. I don't know what GA has to do with notification lighting. It's supposed to be a phone first and foremost. OnePlus seems to have forgotten what it is they're making. Something as basic as missed notifications seems not terribly important to them.

I agree. Samsung and Huawei show that AOD can work without heavy battery drain, so why can't OP get this to work or can they but don't want it?
I will root the device and have a look what I can optimize.
What I cannot change (unfortunately I had no chance to hands on the device before I bought it) is the size and the weight. It is to big and way to heavy. Not only while taking a phone call, even if you just hold it in one hand and do some stuff, it gets heavy within a very short time.
Maybe this OP was my first and last one - I will see. But it seems that all devices get bigger and heavier with every iteration, which is totally insane.

It's definitely a pie thing as Android 10 had much better ram management even on pixel 2xl with 4gb ram. I suspect it will resolve most of our problems.

I have a problem with the weight as well, like my previous note 9. I got the s10+ after that, before being enticed by all the YouTube reviews of the 7pro at launch. I'm beginning to regret that decision. Dual speakers are no where near the s10+ and neither is video stabilisation. I'm on the beta 2 now, rooted and the experience is beginning to improve. Sure there are pros like the fast charging, display and the quick implementation of android 10. I can't justify the note 10 and all the year end releases with SD 865 round the corner so I guess I'll just have to put up with it.

Did you actually read what I wrote? The experience has improved on android 10.
i had the s10+ and i couldnt deal with the half bakes software. so oneplus was the natural choice for me.
sure the speakers arent the best but theyre plenty fine - its not like we use our speakers for hidef sound, wireless headphones or a jukebox can take care of the rest (i have these strategically placed around the house so its never an issue when i play music)
failing AOD, dt2w is just as good imo.

If you use Magisk, make sure to flash Ainur Sauron. That's an absolute game-changer for audio quality. I can't say the audio will quite compare to the Note 9 (I own it), but it should be fairly comparable to the S10+ (Have two in the family). The Note 9 has the advantage of actual front-facing speakers since it has bezel.
If you want to use Viper or JamesDSP, you'll need to also flash AML in Magisk which allows for multiple audio mods to be integrated. If you want a simple flash and away w/o further customization, then just flash Ainur Sauron.
Thank you. Good recommendation

Given the A53 is a "budget" device with low end hardware, the best you can really do is run a "clean" OS with as little bloat as possible. There isn't much that will make your device faster besides reducing what is running at any given time.
Thank you the attentive answer, it not sounds too good . Not can be at a good and still cheap too
What is your proposal for the Galaxy A73 have you any experience this phone for regarding this topic?
Temporary fix until software update hopefully can fix it.
1. Install and use nova launcher
2. Navigation bar buttons instead gestures.
3. Keyboard lag use Gboard
4. Messenger lag use google messenger.
It seems to fix most lag. It also seems to this is a software issues. Affecting Samsung apps and services. So delete all Samsung apps u can and disable the other u can't delete. Do not use any Samsung apps do not sign in to Samsung. Scrolling stutter only able to fix if screen is put to 60hrz but this isnt a 100% it still will occasionally stutter when scrolling webpages Facebook and so on but it is far less then with 120hrz.
But the 4 solutiona mentioned should fix most lag.

Thank you these usefull advise. i will try it asap and will feedback that what is the result.
This phone was definitely slower when I first got it. It took a few days of use for it to get adjusted. I also always replace the launcher with nova, keyboard with gboard, and messages with signal.
Then I use ADB to remove a couple of stupid packages. Like anything Facebook related any of the AR packages, apps that I don't use (why the hell does Samsung have two messaging apps on a phone stock?).
I came from the OnePlus 6t and I feel like this device is only a minor upgrade overall. In the end that's kind of all I was looking for because the 6t still ran great.
I do notice some poor responsiveness in the touch screen from time to time (although that seems to be getting better each day) and I definitely noticed a pretty big delay when I use voice to text. It definitely takes a second to fire up the mic which leads to it picking up where I'm talking mid sentence.
I may yank out more of the Samsung system apps as time goes on. For the moment I'm enjoying the Bixby routines because it's keeping me from needing to install Tasker. I recommend everyone try that at their own risk. Do some research first but there are a lot of system apps and processes that Samsung preloads in here that always run in the background sucking up precious RAM. I say try it at your own risk because if you uninstall the wrong applications you can mess your phone up pretty bad.
Also Facebook is a big resource hog. Even on an iPhone 13 it can stutter occasionally or even freezes specially in marketplace and makes the phone run hot. If you don't mind using the mobile version I would highly recommend using that instead the app.
I also think there is better devices for less mOney that even offer more but probably never get those 4 software updates. Like the Blu F91 BLU F91 5G | 2022 | 3-Day Battery | Unlocked | 6.8” Full HD+ Display | 128/8GB | 48MP Quad Camera | US Version | US Warranty | Sky Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09WJM9XVW/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_FW76ZJAX9F1BWN35ZA5M?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 it has wireless fast charging and a gas charger in the box a case and screen protector and headphones. It's 5G and it's 250 dollars. This phone overall is a much better deal but the software probably will never or only be upgraded one time unfortunately.

I agree 100% about facebook. I stopped using the app shortly after they first released it LOL. I find it much much easier to just use the mobile website.
I was looking at some Chinese devices as well before settling on this. One of the reasons I went with the a53 5G is compatibility with T-Mobile's 5G in my area. Also the software and support factored in. I was lucky enough to have my 6t for almost 4 years. That's the longest I've ever had a smartphone for and I really enjoyed being able to get that much lifespan out of a inexpensive device compared to the competition. The promise of support for this device led me to choose it even though it's only a mild upgrade from what I had before.

thank you the usefull and detail of rich description...
It is laggy because Samsung picked the weaker hardware for this phone (even though it sells for mid range price, there is no SD778 or Exynos 1080 or Dimensity 1200). As others said you could disable things and only use 60Hz screen. But if you haven't bought it yet you can buy the A52s which will be smoother.

Did removing these packages help performance? I am going back and forth about whether to return the phone or not (the camera is unusable at the moment - but hopefully that changes with software updates - I am yet to receive the April update). Thanks.

Removing packages helped free up some RAM. I'm definitely not experiencing the level of lag you're describing and the camera seems fine compared to my 6t.
This phone is half the price of most flagship devices. I'm not sure what your expectations are for such a device. Perhaps you should get a better device, or wait for the new oneplus Nord and see how it's performs.

I'm confused. I don't have Facebook on my A53 or ADB wasn't needed if it was originally (and not system app). Did you grab a carrier one? That would explain it to me. Not seeing lag on my unlocked A53.
If you grabbed an unlocked one then I don't know why you'd have lag unless it had a physical issue or you use something I don't use that causes it.

Enable developer options and disable all animations should fix this without the need for installing a 3rd party launcher or other software.

Hmmm, the camera takes about 1 to 2 seconds to take a photo, and sometimes doesn't take a photo at all and because of the lag I often miss the photo opportunity because I am waiting to see if it worked (daytime photos). The rest is manageable, but still laggier then my old S9+, I at least thought it would match that performance (I don't game, so only day to day use performance is important for me). Seems like my phone is unusually slow, maybe something went wrong when transferring over from s9+ and I should start fresh with a factory reset! Everything else about the phone is great, so I will persevere . A few software updates should hopefully smooth things out. Thanks for the help/suggestions.

If its only the camera from press to saved then the April update should mostly if not fully solve that. You have the April update yet or not?
For me it seems to be under a second after April update. Pre-April it was more like 3-5 seconds.
Not really something I would have cared that much about either way lol. Just have to get used to it.
I've had this phone almost a week now.. I have SwiftKey as my kb...
Can't say I've noticed any type of lag on this device... 120hz, dark mode background services running, wifi calling on you name it.
What are y'all even all the reviewers doing to experience lag??
Kind of would like to know lol

Given the A53 is a "budget" device with low end hardware, the best you can really do is run a "clean" OS with as little bloat as possible. There isn't much that will make your device faster besides reducing what is running at any given time.

A53 is not a "Budget" device. It is mid level. Samsung's budget devices are the A1#, A2# and A3# phones.
