No Z Fold 2 In-Store at TMobile On Launch - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Questions & Answers

So I've got super frustrating and disappointing news that I'm curious if I'm bearing alone at this point or not....
TMobile doesn't have the device in stock in store ON LAUNCH DAY at any locations in my area. I'm in Dallas and not in a rural area by any means. Not a single location has stock, and I worked with an associate at my local TMobile store this morning to call around and some weren't even briefed on the device or knew about it. Let alone knowing that today was the global launch day and that they should have gotten shipments in this week. There weren't even any shipments on log for delivery at my store.
I called a TMobile rep assuming they would have more information, and it was a complete dud. Same situation with basically every store. I realize it's a specialty device and I had assumed there would be a limited release, but to not offer it anywhere in a major metropolitan area on launch day? Absurd.
I'm using my device trade-in in order to upgrade, so I'm unfortunately stuck having to go through TMobile and can't purchase it anywhere else. My question is if this is the same case for anyone anywhere else in the country with TMobile? Or is it somehow just Texas or my region? I'm lost for words and had to put a pre-order on a device that's already out....

Not sure what is going on but was surprised that Tmobile waited until yesterday to even announce pricing on Twitter.

You're not alone. Shortages are world wide. My carrier (EE) the biggest network in the UK with an exclusive partnership with Samsung don't have any stock to send out let alone in store. S.Korea is going to have to wait for their launch day (imagine that on home turf).
Samsung completely underestimated demand.
Hang in there mate, I am trying to do the same.
.

Yeah, they've officially admitted to shortages "in some markets" although that may not be what's happening here; this is a dog for carriers as they'll move few of them and they take up valuable shelf and floor space that could be used for something that sells in numbers. The hardware is profitable but a sideline for them, it's about getting people into the recurring payment scheme and a cheaper phone that moves serves them better than something like this in that respect.

Have the store order you one. You don't have to wait for them to get a shipment.
You have more patience than me. I had mine overnighted and got it at 8:30am the day after it came out. And THAT was too long to wait!
The manager at the Verizon store in my town said they weren't getting any and the only way to get it was special order or online order.
Wanna bet they start stocking them after Oct 3rd???? That's when the $100 rebate ends, and the price goes up to $299.
My contract ended and Oct 2nd I'm ordering one so I can be as close to the 6.5 Rom update as I can, and that will give me 30 dys to review new phones. Kind of bummed I won't get to consider Diamond 2 (pocketnow.com just posted won't come to any other US vendor other than AT&T - I'm sticking with Verizon) so it looks like it's TP2 or Omni 2 for me.
Diamond 2 is coming out on Verizon, it's known as the Whitestone. http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/07/verizons-htc-whitestone-leaks-out-along-with-the-htc-mega-and/

I don't mean to be argumentative, but those websites are wrong more than they are right, especially with release dates. Hopefully it is coming next month though as that would be within my 30 days and I could see which one I like better.
The release dates for all Verizon phones leaked out, up to 1st Q of 2010. No Whitestone/other devices from HTC listed.
My local Verizon (corporate) Store is large in comparison to most in the state, and they claim that they don't stock HTC devices, except the Ozone.. in fact, when I got my TP2 last Friday I went to the store looking for a universal pouch and three techs. were amazed to see the TP2 in person lol. I guess they haven't trained on the TP2 yet here.
Hopefully they stock it in the near future, I like getting my cases from that store because of the warranty.

Now that you mention it, you're right! I haven't seen a TP1 at the Verizon kiost or the store ever since its release. Havn't see ANY HTC devices for that matter...weird.

Lol, went to my local Verizon store earlier today and the same thing happened. I walked in and asked if they had any accessories for my phone as i showed it to him. He immediately yanked it out of my hand and then asked, "Can I see that for a minute" as he ran, literally, and showed it to every other Verizon employee in the store including his manager. There were like 6 or 7 other people in the store that all noticed and then they all started asking me and the Verizon employee's about the phone, I felt pretty special They told me at the store they weren't gonna get any in, only internet orders or special order.
Is anybody in Cali and able to confirm whether stores got any?
Headed that way for the weekend, so would like to grab one in person.
Seems we are all getting the same reaction from the Verizon employees when we walk into the store. Was also looking for a universal case to tide me over. It was as if time stood still - little work was done for anyone else in the store for the next 5-10 minutes.
Other news: Have to replace mine due to the screen being scratched out of the box. Corp rep said they were out of stock for a replacement! Will know more tomorrow.
I have called around in my area (Phoenix) and have found some stores have them, some don't. None have them on display and none have accessories.
Still not in our Verizon or Sprints. Looked up on T-Mobile website for a corporate owned location (not reseller) and went on down. They have working TP2s. The resellers have dummy versions for size and weight comparisons.
The T-Mobile version battery door did have a memory card door (though hard to open) and I thought I saw a reset button! Couldn't swear to it. I may look into it and see if one of their backs fit the Verizon and see if they can be bought reasonably.
I won't get my TP2 for another week though. Kind of nice watching the forum and letting others who have time get all the bugs out. I wonder if all the clean ups and hacks will start all over again for WinMo 6.5. I wish they'd start new forums for TP2 GSM/CDMA version 6.1, 6.5, and custom cooked ROMs! very dificult to follow all the versions in one thread when they go 24 pages.
Update: well best plans of mice and men... PocketNow posted "OUT OF STOCK" for TP2 at Verizon. Sure enough went on line and entered an upgrade order and would not let me submit order during rebate period as it was "out of stock." Couldn't even put in basket to be fullfilled when arrives. Called Verizon, switched me around to different sales regions and what did I find? IN STOCK in California! Mine is now on the way to FL. Oh well, I get a great phone aweek early than expected.
Oh they BETTER NOT BE out of stock this Saturday! O_O I don't care if they have to steal it from a third world country, I WANT ONE! :'(

I too have been going through the same ordeal. I added a line to my wifes plan. From being told by many verizon reps that the TP2 will not be avaliable untill early next year I settled on the TP1. That was on 9/10/09, well, lo and behold, the TP2 hit Net sales on the 11th. So i went back to the store on the 20th in the hopes of getting a TP2 of my own. No dice. They couldnt even order me one from any of the options that they had. So, we went ahead and returned the TP1 and reactivated my wifes old lg env in the meantime so i could go home and place the net order. Well, all went fine and dandy and I was even able to order the unit for $149.99 w/no mail in rebates. But, two hours later i received a wonderful cancellation email from verizon due to lack of inventory. Slightly irritating, but understandable. Now, going on 4 days later, everything has reset on the account except for my ability to order via the website. After spending hours on the phone with just about every dept in verizon and being told that the phone is going to cost me anywhere from $250+ and still have to pay the restocking fee from returning the TP1 still no luck. I finally did talk with a phone sales rep that was the most helpful of anyone i have spoken with to date. He promised that as soon as he gets any word about the availability of the TP2 he will personally call me and have the order set to go asap. The only issue he said i might have is for some reason the original order that was canceled is not fully showing up in his system, but there is a reference to it in the account. According to him, when it becomes available again he will call me and if it still doesn't show the canceled order that i will be able to send him the email and they will fully honor it. We will see...
Sorry for the long rant, just had to get it off my chest. Its been a fairly irritating past week of dealing with VZW trying to get them to get their stuff straight.
Hopefully i will have a new TP2 in the next handful of days.
I went into my store on the 19th and he said they don't expect to ever get them, only direct fulfillment. So I ordered it online when I got home and it arrived the 22nd.
After 9 months of FRU'ing Touch Pro's, the guy at the Verizon store informed me that they finally had TP2's online as a possible Multi-FRU upgrade.
After more than a week of daily calls to Verizon and finally getting mine (after paying the 2 year contract price as a discount instead of receiving the multi FRU), I can say the following with relative certainty.
1. They don't anticipate displays in-store before the start of 2010. 2 local store managers claimed they have already requested them, and that Corporate was stalling the launch (much the same as the TP.)
2. If you order over the phone and complain enough about your existing phone, you can get it for the new every 2 price, pretty much regardless of your current status. Keep in mind, it will reset your next upgrade date.

HTC HD2 / Leo on a US carrier now?

Hello Everyone,
I was curious as I cannot find a definitive answer to this. Looking at the specs page on HTC (http://www.htc.com/uk/product/hd2/specification.html), it appears that this phone would possibly be usable on a US carrier. I am wondering if using the method in the link below might apply to the HD2 as well. Before you ask why I don't just wait for it to come stateside...well, what's the fun in that?
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/htc-touch-pro/120970-sprint-touch-pro-verizon.html
US Leo
Went to the ATT store yesterday to look at the Pure (hated it) and they went online to check the specs and assured me it would run on their network if it was unlocked!
Yeah...I saw that. Problem is that I am currently with AT&T and am looking to switch to a CDMA carrier. Not too happy with AT&T or T-Mobile at the moment. =\
The word is that it will come to US carriers in The first quarter of 2010. The European specs suggest it will be to AT$T or T-Mobile.
Funny, I switched to AT$T a few years back because Sprint and Verizon really sucked.
After ten years with Nextel and then Sprint, my Blackberry's screen cracked and the hangup button stuck making the phone almost unusable. Even though I was 2 months before my contract was upgrade available, they refused to, after ten years with them, subsidize a new phone. Suffered with my phone for two more months and switched to AT$T, so far they have been great to me.
Somehow I doubt it will come to AT&T, unless they are smart enough to see that this is the best contender against the iPhone. AT&T's monopoly with Apple makes them complacent and slow to provide their customers with alternatives.

Check the vid. This is the snappy WinMo phone we've been waiting for!
HTC HD2---Battery Size, is this 1230 " BIG ENOUGH"???
It's not a Beast, it's Beautiful! The Russians have given us size comparison & review, a must read. It still needs work but so far it's showing itself to be at the top of the list. I believe when it gets updated it will arrive in the US.

I agree, I just don't see it happening. Part of the reason why I left AT&T (and my iPhone) was because of the massive amount of dropped calls. I finally got fed up and switched. But considering the amount of trouble they are having with the iPhone, I doubt they would pickup it's best competitor.
Hmm, I can't remember the last time I dropped a call. Probably happens more in "population dense" areas (e.i., not here).
Anyway, I want to find the answer to this question as well. From all the specs I see the phone is theoretically capable of running on AT&T's 3G (UMTS 850 and 1900 Mhz).
Source: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2062&c=htc_hd2_us_htc_leo
However, I'm not an expert on US phone bands. Perhaps a seasoned XDA developer could help us with this?
Those specs on pdadb are not final "Datasheet State: Preliminary specifications".
But yes, it would do 3G on at&t if finalized UMTS 850 & 1900 Mhz).
I bought one
I just purchased one from amazon on pre-order, my cousin is shipping it to me as soon as it gets to him.
Anyone up for working on building an android rom for for it, not a big fan of WinMobile. In-fact this is the whole reason I got it besides the fact its a sweet phone!!!

This does sound weird..If the main reason of getting the phone is android, why not just wait for a native android phone that has a similar spec? (e.g. HTC Dragon / Acer Liquid / Experia X3)

Not trying to be a jerk, but I figured I would share my insight/experience with the issue you had with Sprint/Nextel, and will probably have with AT&T and any other provider you go with.
I work for T-Mobile currently, and have been there for over 5 years now (and will tell you right now, The HD2 is coming to us.) The issue you had is the most common complaint in the industry. The truth is, no matter where you go, it'll be the same thing. On top of it not being "fair" to customers that are just as loyal, but only have 7 years tenure instead of 10 years, it's the fact that you "only being 2 months away from your full discount pricing," that company could potentially be losing 2 months of your commitment. Meaning, if they make you wait till your contract is over, they'll get a fresh 2 years out of you. If they give it to you 2 months before your contract is over, they'll only get 22 months out of you. You see my point ? Now, what I personally think should be done is, you have 2 months to go ? Okay, we'll make your contract be a solid 26 months, and you get your "full discount" today, early.
Cellphone customers really need to be grateful about getting plan discounts, loyalty credits, full upgrades, partial upgrades. Because let me tell you. Not every business out there gives loyal customers anything. I've been a loyal "Florida Power and Light" customer for 6 years, never had a late payment and inturn have never been given a discount on my electric bill. I mean, how often does your credit card company send you a letter saying, "Hey, you've been such a loyal customer...here's a 12% off discount for being a AAA member, and for every customer you refer to us we'll give you $175 credit to your bill!" Ya know ? I'm not expecting anyone to LIKE this answer. But it IS the reason, and I'm sure the rep's answer that you're dealing with at the time, "Because!," doesn't do it for you. So I figured I'd take the time to inform you guys.

Since you work for T-Mo can post the final specs for the HD2 when they get finalized for the US? I'm with ATT and haven't had a problem with dropped calls for 4 years now.(I think it's something wrong with build of the Iphone) I'm not trying to switch carriers, just want a badass phone.
I want to know what will we be missing in TP2
if we dont get the Htc HD2 ?
All i see is-
HD will be Faster cos 1 Ghz processor
Has capacitive touch screen
It will have the weather under Clock pre-installed

Will it run on H or just 3g ( seems like ATT is blocking Hsdpa cos of Heavey load)
Will we be able to do Tethering with it ?
Cos Att blocks that
Anything else im Missing Please ?
Which is the best safe Site to Order with here in USA ?

I just got off the phone with a HTC tech support. I had some questions about the release date. I wanted to know if it was going to release in Q1 2010 fiscal or Q1 2010 calendar. Get this, he said all he knew was Q1 2010 to T-mobile. sucks for me because T-mobile is non-existent in my neck of the woods.
I agree (I'm w/SECO) but TMO reception is really bad where I live & I've been following the 'LEO' for a long time patiently waiting for it & if it's only going to TMO I think I'm going to ... well maybe get some sort of 'mi-fi' to use it. I need a phone & the HD2 is what I want. Thanks

Why is that?

As usual retarded Bell has done something moronic as per usual.

If you're in Canada you've no doubt tango'd with the completely retarded phone company of Bell Mobility.
I was on a 3 year contact with an HTC Touch and I was marked to get a phone upgrade at the end of this summer (so I've almost had my phone for 3 years).
Come to find that when I click upgrade on my Bell.ca account is says this:
"At this time, we are unable to provide information about your hardware upgrade eligibility and special pricing offers."
Viewing the source of the page I was able to discover that when I am ready for an upgrade I will only get a $75 dollar one, and I also found this page:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...-Give-Me-My-HUG-Early?p=14374048#post14374048
where someone had the same problem and they say they have to wait even longer to upgrade.
What the hell. This phone company is constructed of outsourced customer support morons who can't speak English and their website and atleast the frontend code looks like something a child did. They overprice everything and boast about good coverage when I don't even get coverage when I'm home. What in god's name.
[/rant]
Well I like them better than rogers

If your contract is up, can't you just sign another 3 year contract and get a full discount?
Either way, everything in Canada sucks that has to do with internet/mobile
You could try doing it over the phone? if they still don't up the offer then tell them you want to leave and they'll try putting you on to the retention team.

Video Guide: Processing a T-Mobile Warranty Exchange

There has been a lot of misunderstandings when it comes to the actual shipping process and questions on how warranty exchanges are processed. I have seen some people not know what to do or scared to do it because they think its complicated.
I made this video to show the process of how to do it. Step by Step.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEdqSj1qUMs
and YES after 5yrs I quit T-Mobile and I am now back at AT&T. But instead of office or Solutions Specialist, I work Indirect Account Management. Atleast I have job security now. Enjoy.
That is a very bold statement when you said that all T-Mobile store is not own by T-Mobile, i would like to see proof of this, not sure where you heard that? If you are referring to kiosk inside the mall then those are indirect dealers. Playground and retail are owned by T-Mobile where they have direct access to T-Mobile corporate email and home office internal sites which other indirect dealers do not.
I also see that you are working for At&t now are you a sales rep or CS when you were with T-Mobile? I know that At&t does not have anymore indirect stores as that is why you do not them as a kiosk at malls.
Not trying to stray away from your main topic of your video but good job on explaining the process.

CSR at TMO told me all stores are 3rd party as well. Don't know how much confirmation that is, but it is consistent with his statement.
T-Mobile stores are owned by other companies. They usually have a plaque on the store which states they are own by "etc etc company". You can also see that on the business cards that they have at the desks.
I just literally stopped working there...Most of the questions you asked were in my OP..
T-Mobile no longer has corporate owned stores. The formally corporate stores are now owned by a company that I am not allowed to name. and the others were sold off to investors. his was done under the radar in early 2010. Only direct way to buy is through calling Care or online. FACT!
The ones known as Playground and other stores will continue to operate under the same guise as before this happened so you would see no change but as stated this is a known fact. Im sorry you didnt know.
What was my job?? I wrote Android Support training for corporate training in our internal StreamLine systems and in person sometimes at some orientations at call centers and at indirect kiosks and mom & pop stores.
We do have Indirect doors at AT&T. I handle Prime Communications Southeast region.
I do not want this thread getting off topic.
I know what I said and I wouldnt make a statement like that without knowing what I am talking about.
This is just an educational thread for people who had questions about returns that I did to help out.
There are differences between "T-Mobile" and T-Mobile agents/limited.
but yes the RMA process is stupid easy. UPS usually knocks, honks the horn or tries to hide the package here in Vegas all depending on who leaves it. I have done RMA's where I sent back the phone they sent me because it had a dead pixel or faulty speaker... I haven't had any chargebacks because of this. There's no reason why I should have to use new defective phone until T-Mobile sends me another.

Sprint HTC Arrive put on EOL

I posted this on WPCentral's Arrive forum, figured I'd post this here as well... I went down to the Sprint corporate store on 42nd street in NYC the other day for kicks and noted that the HTC Arrive was nowhere to be found. The same could be said for the three Sprint Authorized Retailers around where I live. No Arrives in stock and 2 out of the 3 had no demo units on the floor (the one that did had a non-working dummy).
I asked a rep about it and he told me that as of the last signage/price changes and updates, the Arrive was listed as EOL, but it's in their systems and on sprint.com as $49.99 after $50 mail-in rebate should someone want to order one.
Hopeful for a Windows Phone 8 announcement or has Sprint officially given up?
The Arrive has been out for just over a year. It is pretty old by todays cell standards so I would just be patient for WP8 as I would bet all Windows Phone sales have slowed down since the WP8 anouncement. Lets just hope that HTC doesn't play hardball and actually develops a Arrive 2 and keeps the HW keyboard alive.
...and we wonder where Windows Phone support on Sprint went to... look no further -
Sprint CEO says paying over $15 billion for the iPhone was money well spent | iMore.com
Quoted from the CEO Hesse himself -
“I think the No. 1 thing was getting the call from Apple that they were interested in at least having the opportunity,” Hesse said. Of course, the company and its board had to take a hard look at the economics. Selling the iPhone is good for the long term, Hesse said, noting that customers are more valuable in the long term. But, in the short term, it is costly, as the company spends more in subsidies to attract those iPhone buyers.
“We committed to $15.5 billion over four years in purchases,” Hesse said. “That’s a large commitment. ”He said Sprint looked at Apple and its popularity, and “we saw no reason to bet against Apple.”
Ugh...
And you are supprised? They don't have to pay didly to get Windows Phone but the iPhone is obviously the best thing to come to both Verizon and Sprint (since the EVO) and in reality, it is money well spent at least for the next year or two until WP8 really begins to make a dent in the market. Until then, there is nothing negitive about the money spent to get the most popular smartphone on their network. The sheer number of people that were just waiting for it to happen so they could jump ship from AT&T alone probably was worth it.
After such a long time from release, it deemed to go to an end. I just am surprised why it took so long. Stupid sprint didn't go get anything new for WP7.

What other CDMA Designes were released in that time? Heck how many of them used WiMax 4G? That was the problem with Sprint bringing on any new phones since none of the current 1st and 2nd gen devices were really a high end device worth bringing over to their network. The one thing they could have done is swapped the Trophy and Arrive between Verizon and Sprint, but overall the differences between the two aren't huge.
With WP8 and the new selection of chipsets and such to choose from, I am sure Sprint will have another new handset as well as the Return of Nokia to them as well.

Probably not. Though it is more likely now that Sprint is getting LTE, I know that I, personally, am jumping to Verizon when my contract is up in March, or maybe sooner if I decide it's worth it to pay the ETF before then. All I'm really waiting for is the Verizon store 3 blocks away to get the Lumia 822. ATIV S, or HTC 8X on display for me to go play with/drool over.

I wish I could find the links, but Sprint just seems to have finished all support for WP7 period. I doubt we'll even see WP8's on Sprint. That might change due to the Softbank acquisition, but as for the current direction of Sprint, seems android and iPhone only now. Anyone who is diehard Sprint better just slap their hand's together and start praying that Softbank changes Sprint's overall direction for the better.
Besides, You can't Zune update an Arrive past 7720 anyway on Zune. It's been ages since Sprint has done anything with their Arrive. I doubt when WP7.8 hits, that the Arrive will even get the SYS update to that, regardless of what NuAngel seems to think XD.

I doubt it, too; anytime I go into the Sprint repair store, the reps laugh at me for my Arrive, and I'm not the one getting a phone repaired! It's always my sisters with their Androids...
But, whatever. I used to support Sprint a lot, even defending them when others bad mouthed them ("Ohh, you have Sprint? How's it feel to be one of about 17 customers?" "Yeah, well, how is it on just a 3G network?" [back when WiMax had just come out, before AT&T ad Verizon got LTE.]). Now? Not so much. Like I said, as soon as the test models Arrive (get it?) at the Verizon store, I'm gonna switch.

Which is why the development sections of this forum exist. I've been running 7.8 since around late August, early September.

Well, from what I hear, Zune will push the update directly, but then again, I don't hear everything, so YMMV.
