As in title. I'm trying to use lightweight apps on my MTCE unit for maximum speed, so in par with google maps go, I was trying to install google assistant go. Unfortunately, it's not in Google Play, and when tried to install from apk mirror, I get error and simply cannot install the app. How to force it? I'd love to have google assistant without that huge and heavy Google app.

We have a survey GPS at work that runs android on the data collector handheld. Android has been customized by the manufacturer and none of the google apps or much else are on there except their software. I tried copying apk files for google play and some other programs and installing them from download folder but after installing them they either open and immediately close or say they require google play services. The unit is running 4.4.2. Is there a way i can get google play to work on this so i can install some other apps? Thanks
Hi all,
I received a review copy of the WinkPax G1 gaming tablet which includes a gaming controller, that can work alone or as a dock.
This is it: http://www.banggood.com/3-in-1-Winkpax-PAX-G1-MT8783-64-bit-Quad-Core-1200x1920-IPS-Tablet-PC-with-Handheld-Console-Game-p-1103815.html
The problem is, that is comes with a very bare bones Android 5.1. No google Play Services or anything. I have installed Amazon Underground, but it has few apps for it, installed Chrome from apkmirror. But I need the Google Play store.
Any idea how to get it working ? I have installed at least 20 different Google Play Services versions from 6.x forward, and they all crash when starting up.
The device is based on the MT8783, and seems to have a pretty good LTE chipset, 2GB RAM, 32GB flash, and build quality in the better end.
How do I back up the included ROM ? And is there an alternate ROM I can deploy to it ? Or an alternate way to access the Google Play Store ? I have updated ROMs from the PC on an older device, and I do have fairly good tech skills. But I can't really find the info I need.
Hi all,
I use a Moto E smartphone in which I uninstalled the Google app and all it's ok. Now I just got a new car that support Android auto, so I downloaded it on my smartphone but, when launched, it says me that I've to install Google app to proceed.
Is there any way to have the Android auto features (I mean, using apps like spotify, podcast, etc) without having to install the Google app on my smartphone?
Thanks in advance
Hello!
I found a number of threads asking the same question, but none of them have a good answer.
It seems to be that Android Auto requires some of the Google services.
You could try the pico or nano GApps and then use something like Titanium Backup to freeze portions Google you don't want or need.
Android auto requires Google Services Framework as well as Google Play Service in order to work on your Moto E smartphone.
Misunderstanding: on my phone Google Play and Google services are installed and active. What I uninstalled for a "Google-free" experince is the main Google app and some others ad Duo, etc...
But Android auto ask me to install the Google app (and this is obviously quite useless if you don't need it)
Is there any alternative?
Google-App and Google-Maps have to be installed.
But you can disable/freeze them.
Hello. Currently running the Hal9k Mod5 firmware on a PX30 head-unit. As of version 10.73 of the Google App, the modded hands-free dialer app no longer works. (Appears to be related to the new Google Voice Assistant that started with that version.)
I would like to keep the Google App from automatically updating... keep it at version 10.6x. Disabling "auto-update apps" doesn't keep the Google App from updating silently in the background.... the only way I've found to accomplish this is to disable the Google Play store, but it appears there are cleaner ways of doing this. I'm just not clear on the procedures.
Any help is appreciated!
Hello everyone.
I would like this post to reach more people on XDA who could solve it.
Since I received the update to Harmony OS 3.0 on my Chinese Mate 30 Pro 5G, all those apps that use Google maps for geolocation do not work.
I'm typing this thread here because I'm looking for people who has got this issue like me.
Examples like WhatsApp for location sharing, Wallapop, SocialDrive, etc. None of them work with Google maps. I get a message: "Updating Google Play Services", and it does absolutely nothing else.
I have Google Services installed on my Mate 30 Pro almost natively with the Googlefier and MicroG method from Eloy Gomez, a Spanish developer, and everything was perfect until Harmony OS 2.0
After Harmony OS 3.0 update no longer.
I am attaching a screenshot of one of my weather apps where it does not show the Google map and therefore does not work and another of sharing location by WhatsApp using Google Maps.
Has anyone who has experienced the same issue been able to fix it ??
Or has someone from XDA who has experienced the same issue been able to solve it?
