120Hz on WQHD+...??? - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

I left my phone on the pad for charging and accidentally, looking for something else in Settings, found a rather strange set of settings...
Namely its was set for "adaptive refresh rate 120 Hz" + screen resolution on "WQHD+ 3088 x 1440" also Power mode was on "Optimized" ...
The option to change to adaptive refresh rate 120Hz was marked as "On" but at the same time was not highlighted as changeable...
It looks like 120 Hz active and working on WQHD+... Or it was just some glitch in the system...
Did anyone encounter maybe the same...

Do you have adaptive power saving on in power mode setting?

Yes, that was set "On"...

I think I know what your phone did. If you had it set to wqhd and 120 hz prior to the phone going into power saver mode it got "locked in". That's why I think your unable to change it back.

When is set to "Off" it didn't work that way...

So it's kinda tricky... I used quick shortcut maker and had motion smoothness as a shortcut. Change the refresh rate to 60 then have the shortcut maker selection on 120 but don't click apply it yet... Change the display to qhd and back to the shortcut and click apply. Settings are set but it's not 120hz

There is no such thing as WQHD AND 120 hz, it's either one or another...so he couldn't set it prior to anything

While the both don't happen at the same time... It's possible to get those settings to show at the same time.

Yes, I know that. Why I quoted that post was due to the allegation that probably the user got the issue because he set both resolution and refresh rate that way before... I just stated that this is not possible

[Q] Camera reset display brightness

Anyone have their display setting reset to max brightness after taking a picture or exit out of the camera app?
Sometimes when I take a picture with flash the phone will shutoff. When I turn it back on the brightness is at 100%.

Yes, actually. I recently noticed my brightness setting back to max often, and now I see it's exactly what you say

When i go into the camera the brightness goes to full automatically and then when i exit it goes back to my previous setting

yep, same problem here. I set a Tasker profile to turn auto brightness back on when exiting the camera app to fix it.

Tasker is an app in the market
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
I just wanted to add that it also happens when the phone comes out of a low power state. So if you have your low power profile click in at say 25%, then charge your phone above that, your brightness will be back to 100%.
I am also using tasker to set the brightness to auto-adjust every 2 minutes. Tasker is $6.95 in the market (but very useful for other things too).
Have had this happen a few times. Never knew the cause, just remember being blinded in the dark, lol

I have this same issue. Driving me crazy! Thanks for suggesting it might be the camera app. I think this is true. I'm going to try to remember if I ever open the camera to go into settings and reset Auto Brightness. Very annoying, but I do seem to think its related to the camera app.

Same here. But if i use the auto brightness i have the issue that the brightness is still at 100% when leaving the cameraapp. Not funny i a dark room or outside at night

Using CM 10.1 how can I lower min brightness level?

One thing I miss from stock was the eco mode low brightness level. How can I modify CM to lower the brightness on my P3113?
Thanks

Its simple drag right side notification bar. There you will get adjust brightness option....

No I mean that I would like the brightness overall to be less. Including the lowest auto setting and the manual setting.

I'm missing it too.
For those of you who don't remember it, there was an "Edit Levels..." screen that took you to the screen shown in this post:

Yes this is what I was looking for. Seems it hasn't made it to 10.1 yet, in the meantime I found an app called Lux that works.

Display color issue with night mode on

Does anyone have any issues with the color being darker on the middle of the screen horizontally, when night mode is turned on and with low brightness? I had issues with 9.5.3 and now on 9.5.7. 9.5.4 did not have the same issue.

I don't ever use night mode myself, but perhaps this is worth a shot... Check out the "OnePlus Laboratory" settings menu and turn on the experimental DC dimming (or perhaps it's on already and you need to turn it off?). This is totally a shot in the dark though.

Camera does too much smoothing. How to remove this option?

I turned off face filter but smoothing is still being done.

How to tell if screen is running @120hz

I'm not sure if it's my eyes or my phone isn't refreshing properly but I can't see a difference when scrolling regardless which setting I choose under motion smoothness.
Is there a way to tell what the refresh rate is when adaptive mode is selected?

I agree.
People see different things and can also soon adapt to the smoothness.
I can certainly see the difference when I use my N10+ 5G to when I'm using the N20 Ultra 5G.

Thanks I don't know why I didn't think to look for an app.
I wasn't sure about that one since it only had a few hundred downloads but I downloaded this and the refresh rate is correct.

This app doesn't have an overlay feature. The app suggested by @dougmcsp will show the refresh rate as an overlay on any app/screen on the phone.
