I own a redmi 5a and I use it for my studies. That phone is one of the two smartphones that we have in our family. Because of it being old, the battery didn't hold the charge well so I got it changes maybe 5-6 days ago.. Today, all of a sudden, while I was in the middle of solving a model question paper, it stopped working. The screen went totally black. Now when I press the power button, only the notification light blinks and nothing else happens. I tried keeping it pushed for maybe 1 minute as well but only notifications light keeps blinking. I tried pressing volume up+power button, volume down+power button, volume up+volume down+power button but nothing happens. Only notifications light is blinking. It does not blink when I don't press any button. And it does not blink when I don't press the power button. Can anyone please help me and tell me what to do? If this phone stays like this I will not be able to study. I really want to do good in my exam.
Get the orignal battery back, connect the device with cable to charge, and then try to power on it. Good luck to you.

Please I need help, I was using whatapp when my nexus 5 froze. Then I hold the power button and the phone restarted normaly, but when it was showing the google logo it froze again turn off and now It does't respond to anything. I alreadu tried with hoding the power button or holding Volume up+Volume down+power and it didn't respond. Please help me!!I forgot to say that the phone was almost fully charged and wen I connect the phone to my notebook, windows doesn't recognizes the device.
Hold down power button for more than 30 seconds and see whether it boots up?? If not, hold down volume down button+power button together for 15+ seconds and see whether the phones goes to bootloader?
If above things fail, connect it to a wall charger and leave it for an hour or so and try to boot it up. If you still cant, it's probably a hardware failure and it needs repair.

It seems that is a hardware fail then, because I follow those instruction several times, and nothing happens. The phone remains dead.
When you connect it to a wall charger, the front LED become red ?
I have researched the "related threads" and none are similar to the issue I am having.
The phone turned off midcall and fails to turn on afterwards. I thought it was the battery, but it still fails to turn on after charging over night.
It boots up to show the logo, after a battery pull and turns back off.
If I I press down the power button + down volume+ menu, I get the warning about a custom install of an OS may damage the phone and if i want to continue to press the volume up, or cancel.
The phone only lasts about 5 seconds, after every battery pull, other wise it won't turn on again.
I haven't gotten a blank white screen nor the Android logo.
Thank you.
Update: I believe I confirmed it is a power button issue.
What I used to confirm it was pressing the volume down button and menu without the power button and was able to see the Warning as if I had pressed all three. Also, the phone vibrates as soon as I place in the battery.
Issue now is: Supposedly the cause is due to a stuck power button, but physically the power button is not stuck. It clicks when pressed.
Hi guys,
TLDR; Phone won't turn on, notification light flashes red once on power up (sometimes), black screen all the time. :crying:
So my brother has asked me to try and fix his Nexus 5 as he isn't tech savvy at all.
So the problem he is having started when he tried powering the phone on and it started to boot up and then started resetting iteself.
It now will not power on at all and doesn't seem to be on at all.
When holding the power button, it will sometimes flash the notification light (at the bottom) red for a second or two. No other response from the phone.
I've tried holding the power button for up to 5 minutes with nothing. I've tried holding the V+ key with the power button for a few seconds up to a few minutes then tried pressing the buttons expected to get to a reset menu with no indication of anything.
I'm kind of lost and was wondering if anyone has had these issues before and know what is the best issue to try and repair?
Thanks
It could be a faulty power button which is a common issue with the Nexus 5.
Remove the logic board, clean around the power button with isopropyl alcohol, dry it, quickly press and release the power button using more pressure than normal, re-install, and try to boot.
You could also try this: hold volume + button and connect the phone to a computer using a USB cable.
Thanks audit13, I'll give it a shot and shout back if it works

Are you tries restarting phone with button combo?
Using a particular combination of buttons, you can force your Galaxy S10, S10 plus, and the S10e to restart the system. Here’s how to do this.
Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button simultaneously until the device screen turns off.
May need to press and hold for more than 7 seconds
It will shut down and restart automatically
If the device screen stays black and you’re unable to see if it has turned off, keep holding down the Power and Volume Down buttons until you feel a vibration.

After few days the assistance told me that the cause of the problem was water (wasnt it waterproof?) so i have to change power and volume buttons. Very disappointed
Must still be at the store

I was looking for some infor. My powerbutton stopped working. The fingerprint sensor works but not the power button. I wanted to take a few shots underwater. Maybe just 10 inches underwater and this happend. Looks like its not so waterproofed. I got lucky that the device was on. It looks like if it get off there is no way to turn it on.
Hi everybody,
A few days ago, I tried to install some ROMs to my Xperia Z3(D6603). Probably I made some mistakes. And now I can’t open it. I tried holding power button, power button and volume up button, power button and volume down button. It doesn’t open. When I connect it to PC, nothing happens. No vibrations no led no another thing. What should I do?
Thank you very much.
Edit: After pressing power button and volume up together 20-25 minutes, now I can see red led when I plugged in. Also in pc it continuously plugged in and out, so now what should I do?
