N20U Selfie Comapred to S20U - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Questions & Answers

Hi,
Has anyone done/seen a comparison of how the selfie camera on N20U (with 10MP) compares to S20U (with 40MP). I honestly don't know why Samsung degraded the MP count on Selfie but want to check how the selfie is compared to S20U and if there is a huge loss in quality

Because the 10mp camera have phase detection dual pixel auto focus but the 40mp one don't so the Note 20 10Mp selfie can take better focused pictures than the s20 ultra 40mp one

Z2 cam:
20.7 MP 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS for mobile CMOS sensor
F2.0 lens
4K video recording (3840×2160 pixels/30p)
HDR video
2.2 MP front camera
S4 cam:
13 MP / backside-illuminated CMOS sensor
F2.0 lens
FullHD video recording (1920×1080 pixels/30p)
HDR video
2.0 MP front camera
All in all the Z2's cam should provide a better camera experience
but i heard that the z2 camera struggles indoor is that true?

The S4 will probably take more eye-pleasing pics, despite the lower MP. Samsung has always had great photo processing software. All cameras struggle indoors when there's less light (and outdoors when darker too). I doubt you'd be disappointed in the Z2's camera though, but it might take some tinkering and experimenting with different modes to find what works best. Beyond the camera, the Z2 is the better overall phone; faster processor, more RAM, waterproof, front-facing speakers, longer battery life (although the S4's is replaceable) etc.
If you're looking for an expensive 1-2 generation old flagship and camera quality is your priority, the LG G2 trumps both the S4 and the Z2.

Oneplus6 cam

Does anyone know the cam specs of Oneplus 6?

according to tech-radar, the specs of the cameras are as follows:
A 20MP and 16MP dual-lens rear camera
A 20MP front-facing camera
Note that these are just rumors at this stage, but here's the source where I got it from if there's anything else you want to know:
https://www.techradar.com/news/oneplus-6-rumors
Hope this helps.
Final Camera specs.
In the rear, we find a dual camera combo consisting of 20 and 16MP snappers whereas the selfie camera is listed as being a 16MP one. In terms of size and dimensions, the OnePlus 6 will likely measure up at 155.7×75.35×7.75mm and tip the scales at 177gr. Android 8.1 will be running the show; we expected nothing less.
I wonder if it will have the OIS, as this is crucial for me when considering this device.

Camera sensor vendors

Well it's all known that the back camera of Nokia 8.1 is using Sony 363 sensor but what about the other like depth sensing and front camera there is no mention of the sensor vendors and their tech specs like sensor size ,as per the below link it is also found that Samsung sensors are being used in back cameras too with same specs but in which models it is not sure
https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/74cc4ccf
So request if XDA or someone can get into the technical specs of all the sensors with their respective vendors and sensors sizes and share the information
Thanks
I want to know too... It's 20MP, but the photo result is so bad...
Kinda missing my old Oppo N3, which I can tap to focus for front and back with the rotating camera.
What I think about the front camera is of 5MP which manipulates as 20MP. As if you use Gcam port for Nokia 8.1 it shows front camera as 5MP.

Gcam takes 5Mpix photos with any 5+ Mpix camera. Photos taken with stock camera app are 20 Mpix, and once again, number of megapixels does not represent the quality of photo, just the size.

But my old Oppo N3 has 16MP for both front and back cameras in gcam (kinda old version though).

Well I am pretty much not interested in gcam junk ports,it's not officially meant to be used on other devices other pixel so it has no whatsoever value in my view on any device ,people can shout as much as they want, second the sensor does the binning from original Nokia cam app it does not and should not have any access to the algorithms used by Nokia.this topic is related to the sensor manafacturers as there is lot of misinformation or information floating around as always of Nokia cameras and requested the XDA team to get into the crux of it ,anyway I am sure the front camera module uses 1/3.1 Samsung sensor and the depth one too on the rear the main 12mp is imx363 as confirmed by Nokia care on the email

It's not the GCam limitations but the sensor and camera app of Nokia 8.1. You can install a hardware info app from play store and it will tell the Nokia 8.1 front cam as 5MP. And in true sense it is a 5MP sensor which uses pixel bining to produce 20MP images. But the picture quality is not up to the mark even after pixel bining.
I installed hw info app,it shows 20.1mp sensor.

Nope, going from 5mp to 20mp would be a upscaling using something like bilinear interpolation.
Pixel binning is combining pixels to produce a lower resolution but with an increased low light performance, in the case of the Nokia 8.1 it is combining 4 pixels hence the reduction to 5mp from 20.
Gcam is not designed for the anything other than Google products, it doesn't have a clue what is it supposed to be doing on the Nokia 8.1, it just doesn't contain the software necessary to use the front sensor correctly.

Thanks mate for a conclusive reply. I do agree with you that it may be the interpolation in Nokia 8.1 front camera. As I am no longer using Nokia 8.1 so I can't comment on it any further.
Gcam by itself doesn't limit the supported resolutions to tight values. It's the camera stack implementation of most qcom and non-qcom phones that exposes only the binned raw camera streams from quad bayer sensor.

**Xiaomi Mi9 Camera**

Hi all!
Thanks for clicking on this thread!
my Question is simple and straightforward: if I buy the Mi9 will Gcam use all the 48Mp of the sensor or just 12mp? And if it will only use 12mp will this be because pixel-bining will still work\happen or just because Pixel phones(for which gcam was made) only have 12mp camera and that is the limit? So I will actually LOSE quality compared to Stock cam mi9? Mi8 only had 12mp sensor so I can't just look in that forum for answers. Sony Phones have more MP but they don't support gcam because of the api.
I have only tested Gcam on my MIX 2 and that phone is also only 12mp sensor.
I am pondering at the moment between getting mi9 or s10+.. but price of s10+ is a bit high and from the samples i saw already s10+ doesn't shoot better quality than my s9+ (with zeroprobe's camera mod) since it has the exact same sensors as s9+ only with the ultrawide one added. I have the feeling that mi9 with gcam has the potential to be better than s10 since my mix2 (which has a ****ty single camera) can rival the s9+ with the help of gcam.
Thank you in advance!

It can only read 12mp subsampling pixels (0.8micron). Not 12mp pixelbinning 1.6micron
It's so bad, when you zoom in 2x, it crop to 3mp effective resolution
I don't like this idea
S10+ has poor camera2api, you can't access wide and tele lens, no f2.4 option (f1.5 one is not so clear)

Does pixel binning work on stock camera app?

The front camera resolution is 20 mp and the photos it takes are quite nice. But it apparantly supports pixel binning for low light conditions, but I have never seen it work. Gcam produces way better quality selfies that are 5 mp. So I guess it uses pixel binning or it's just their processing.
Whatever be the case, I want to if anyone has seen pixel binning actually work by the stock camera app.

Hi, late reply but worth mentioning. I have been doing my homework looking into why my 20MP front camera takes 5MP like shots. Well this is because there is pixel binning.
The stock camera app does take 20MP shots but the quality is very comparable to 5MP due to pixel binning. All other camera apps have so far produced real 5MP photos. In the end I prefer to keep the other apps and not waste my time with stock camera as it only gives a higher resolution, along with a heavier file, only to get a 5MP quality picture.
I am looking into finding a possible way to get a proper 20MP photo without pixel binning that may produce better quality photos.
I have moto one 5G(UW) , it's have 48 MP camera but due to Pixel binning it comes out with 12MP picture, i want to disable Pixel binning, is there any App that help me out.
That'll be appreciated if you help me out
