Only Single Bottom Speaker When Using Speaker Phone? - Google Pixel 4a Questions & Answers

As the title says only the bottom firing speaker is working when on speakerphone. The top earpiece works as a speaker with Spotify and YouTube with no problem. However whenever using speaker phone it is only from the bottom speaker.
I have tried a different dialer app, and the beta google dialer with no luck. Wanted to see if anyone else noticed the same issue and if it might be a firmware issue.

Doubt it. Likely by design to protect hearing when folks absent mindedly put handset to ear with speakerphone engaged. Done that a few times on my Moto devices; not a fun experience.

AOKP / Left speaker balance / swaped left and right

Hi there,
since i flashed ICS AOKP i found the right speaker was much louder than the left one.
OK, searched and applied the fix from the DEV forum.
For me this did not solve the issue, so i thought the left speaker was broken.
I installed Mobo player from the market, there you can mute the speakers individually. When i mute the right speaker, aktually the left speaker got muted... and vice versa.
Anyway i found that the left speaker was still working and that if playing a video the difference in volume is not so critical compared to the standart Android sounds, so i guess my speaker is not broken.
Has anyone observed something likely?
Cheers,

When using speakerphone, other side can't hear me

On stock Sense, latest software as far as I know--
Everything works fine, except that if I am on a phone call and I'm using speakerphone, I can hear the caller just fine, but the caller can't hear any audio from my side. If I switch to the normal earpiece, everything returns to normal.
Does speakerphone use the mic by the headphone jack? Anyone else heard of this issue? Is something in the software for some reason muting the mic when I change to speakerphone?
Thanks,
Did you ever get it fixed?
I have the same problem.

[Q] strange speakers

I bought this phone planning to replace the speakers. So when I got it I tested it by playing a song, the bottom speaker was very distorted and the top one played nothing! I took it apart to see if there was anything obviously wrong with it. Then I turned it back on and the top speaker worked. Normally and the bottom speaker was still distorted. Is it a software problem? I'm still on sense 5. If it isn't please could someone link me with the bottom speaker, I can't find it anywhere?

Sound Bug - Bottom speaker sound going through ear speaker/not working at all.

Occasionally the sound in the bottom speakers will stop working and some apps will play through the ear speaker instead. When this happens Google Music, Youtube and some other apps won't work at all. For example pressing play in either of those apps does nothing, as in the play button never changes to a pause button. My alarm app on the other hand plays through the ear speaker instead of not working at all. The ear speaker sound volume is very quiet and doesn't appear to be controlled by the media volume either.
The only remedy that I've been able to find for this is a phone reboot
Wanted to bump this thread -
I originally thought this issue was related to Bluetooth because I use multiple bluetooth devices, but this has happened again recently when I didn't use any Bluetooth devices.
I have the exact same issue, and it's occurrence is random. This started happening a month back. I'm guessing this is due to some software update or something, but its really annoying and the only fix is a reboot.
Anyone has any ideas, whats going on ?
It's been happening multiple times a day lately! It's gotten substantially worse over the past month. I was watching a video, sent a text and when I went to resume it wouldn't play - low and behold the bug came back.. definitely appears to be completely random.
i think that there is somthing with your connection

With my connection to what?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using XDA-Developers mobile app
This problem is driving me crazy
I have the exact same issue. Factory reset and update to newest firmware didn't help any idea?
Wash your phone. And wait till it dry.
I (and other person that I know) have the same issues.
No sound from bottom, and sometimes during the call no audio (I can't ear evrything and the other don't ear me).
Now I'm tring the mobile phone in safety mode.
And I've seen (for the edge version) that next android could fix the problem.
Someone have any update?
Have you tried the safety mode?
Im pretty sure its caused by Facebook messenger and Skype
From what I can tell, this seems to happen when you are playing any kind of audio, such as a video or game, and then receive a notification. You then go to the notification to respond to it and go back to your app that was playing the audio and the issue appears. It seems to be an issue, at least with me, whenever notification is received and subsequently answered.

Mic problem during calling

Anyone having mic problem with P40 pro during the call? The other side cannot hear me when I use normal mode to talk. But when I turn on the speaker it is fixed and they can hear me well. Is it hardware ot software problem? Mine is 10.1.0.154.
It is annoying. I have tried factory reset, safe mode and still having the problem.
But it seems fine in whatsapp and messenger call though.
Please help me.

I just want to know that it is software or hardware issue. Because this is very annoying.
Try to go in Support app and then at Troubleshooting...one of those options from there should test mic also as I remember.

Hello, has your microphone returned to normal?
I have the same problem, the call works well on the speaker because it uses the upper microphone. But the bottom microphone has a very low volume, making the other person not hear the voice on calls.
That's what I deduced from the tests and the support app. I'm afraid of being a hardware problem, I recently purchased the smartphone.
The microphone appears to be wet or dirty.
