Charging regular vs warp - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

hello, I just got the oneplus 8 5g. I want to leave a charger at work and one at home which is a macbook pro charger. how long would it take to charge fully using the macbook pro charger? It would be for weekend use only. and is a Long charger since my outlet is a good 5 or 6 feet away. I really don't want to buy another charger so I'm okay with the slower charge, I'm just curious.
thank you

So I haven't tested this but according to Apple. The charger is a 60W for MacBooks and supports 27W and 12W charging through USB.
So either it will charge similar to warp charging or about half as fast (maybe 40mins for half battery)? That said.
As it's a laptop charger rather than a phone charger make sure to keep an eye on it. Although I believe they're made to see the charging limit of a device it could make the battery hotter than usual.
Good Luck!

Hi,
I got a MacBook charger at home too, it can fast charge your phone but since it's not OEM certified I won't risk to damage the battery. Fast charging can be dangerous for your battery health so I use it only with OEM provided tools.
Have a good day

My Mate 7 is not charging to 100%!!

hey everyone, having a frustrating issue here!
I just got the Mate 7 yesterday (MT7-TL09) and I had it charge overnight...this morning I woke up and the phone read 80%, which is really weird, because it had been charging from around 25% last night for 6 hours. This was my first time charging it.
I tried to look up more information about 'breaking in' to batteries and letting it drain and recharge, but as I'm using it now the battery seems fine (great battery life, only dropped 12% in the past 5 hours of very light usage).
Also, I have been using an iPhone charger to charge it, does the 4100mAh battery require a higher power charger? I will try to charge it with the iPad charger tonight and see if it makes a difference. It's really weird because I have never had that happen to any device that I had (had the xperia Z Ultra previously and it charged fine, albeit a little slower on the iPhone charger).
I can provide any other information about this phone if needed, i'm a noob! I want to know if there is something wrong so I can address the seller and exchange for a new one in time!
Don't use any other non huawei chargers !
DISCHARGE phone to the FLAT and charge it OFF leave it BE at least 2-3 hours !
It comes with a three prong charger and I am in North America
I will give it a try first...
The provided charger is 5 volts 2 Amp. You can use any charger delivering this charge. The original charger can be used with adapter.

Slow battery recharge

Hi guys, can I use an HTC One m7 charger to recharge the OP7 Pro? ( HTC charger 5V -1A and OPT/7 pro cable).
This to preserve the battery over time.

You can use any USB charger you want for that purpose, the OP7 will fall back to the highest compatible charging rate the powerbrick is capable of (Qualcomm Quick Charge is not supported by the OP7, and in case of a USB PD powerbrick that would be 5V/3A), in your case 5V/1A.

I tried to use the charger from an Ampere, but it seems to continue to come off and come back on all the time. I would not wear the battery with the warp charge since I would like to keep it at least 2 years, do you recommend?

Strange, maybe there is a lightly higher minimum charging speed unless it detects it's connected to a USB port... Do you maybe have a 1.4A or 2A charger flying around to test that? Or try with a different USB cable and the 1A powerbrick?
I just did my first Warp Charge and the phone didn't get nearly as warm as my old Nexus 6P did get despite charging with double the current. What did get warm instead was the charger. Hope that helps maintaining battery life...
No you need to use the new charger and cord

No you'll need the red cord and new device for power outlet. Is not designed to use their warp charging unless you use it. You can also use a 2.4 amp one that's used for any phablet/tablet but it won't charge in 30 minutes.

Titacute charger problem. with 6a charger

So I have only a titacute 30w or 5v at 6a charger. I never received the original. I then purchased the orange titacute cable. In the end it can only get 4400 mah only totally dead 1% charge with ampere and other software..
What could be causing this the charger the cable or what I really wanted to get 30w charging. Thanks everyone.
Cheap *** Warp Charger clone, don't expect to much. Warp Charge is an active circuitry-controlled charger and isn't that simple to clone.
And if it's try you charger is a clone of a clone I wouldn't expect anything to charge active, what you get is normal 5v charging.

Right but OEM one plus charger only does 5v 6a for 30w. And titacute says it does that. But it's more like 5v 4.2. Can someone with the OEM and titacute 6a cable show an ampere or other app screenshot of 5800 mAh at 5v. So I know that it's the charger and just seek OEM or whatever works.. thanks
I use chargers & cables purchased from China, not from OnePlus and they work great. Since OnePlus 3. All my OnePlus phones i purchased from other people with no accesories.
Fast charge best time, 45 minutes from 0% to 100% with the phone off. (with OP 3 and op5) . Now i can't try on OP 7 pro because of Magisk.

Why not because of Magisk... I have Magisk is that why it won'y work ... I get WARP charge banner but it's a 4A charge and I have the 6A titacute charger and short orange cable (quite thick indeed) ... what gives ? Any advice for me ?
Let me clear this up.
Magisk it's the issue if you charge with the phone OFF.
It charges the phone but the screen do not show you how much (%) and when it's full, 100%.

Sorry friend but it didn't exactly clear this up. How can be sure it is charging at 6A when it's off. Also how come it says warp charge but ampure .APK shows 4100 mah which is like 4 amp.. I have seen people with 5800 mAh screenshots.. is this cause of magisk? Can we figure out why?
No. I don't think so.
Magisk it's one of the problems if you charge with the phone OFF. NOT the case for you.
Also if you got Fast charge it's ok.

Right I am aware that it is ok. But I want to know if I can buy the original charger and have it charge at max speed.. it's one of the reasons I wanted this phone. Because I hata waiting for a charge and this phone is supposed to warp charge really really fast..
This is good for many reasons but main reason why is :
I am on the road and the quicker I can charge at a stop the quicker I can get back to making money..
And also
It is better to be NOT be using the phone while a cable is attached for many reasons. Therefore the faster it charges the less time it's plugged in. The less time it is plugged in the better. For the jack , cable and experience in general
Yes, buy warp charger if you like the price 30 euro + transport (about 13-14 euro) . On OnePlus.net
Or you can buy from chinese stores, other than OnePlus, Much Cheaper. I both warp charger+warp cable with 10,30 $ US.
You can buy warp charger for car.

Charger. What is better?

Hey
I want to buy one more charger for my phone
what is better to use?
the old AY0520 charger or the warp 30W charger that came with OP7?
It doesnt matter the fast charging, if I will need it, I will use the 65W charger, but want one charger that charge it slowly, as normal speed, at night
thank you
I think you are worrying too much about that.
Just let it be, charge overnight with 65w also fine with smart control on smart phone nowaday.
A phone life is about 2 or 3 years, even if you want to use it longer then just replace your battery.

Question Why does the wireless charging suck so bad on this Device?

I am on the second Snapdragon ATT device and wireless charging is the worst I had in years. I dont know if its a software issue that can be fixed or a hardware issue. Both devices exhibit the same issue slow wireless charging or no charging at all just gets hot. I dont get it brand new phone thinking about going to last years S21 ULTRA if they give me the trade in credit. I have a note 20 ultra and it charges wirelessly just fine on any Qi charger. So disappointed right now.

I got this one. 15 watt wireless it's a 25 watt super fast charger so if you need a quicker charge you can always connect the phone directly without the pad. Both work great! Don't need that 45 watt charger this is perfect for wireless and wired.

Well I guess so if you having problems. Mine is the U.S. 512 gb Black version.
15 watt wireless and 25 watt wired.
Kept mine overnight with a 9W wireless charger and went from 2% to 21% over 8 hours...
Are you charging with the case on or off? I have been using my old Pixel wall charger and the OG Pixel stand. Plugged in my S22U chares quickly. If I use the Pixel stand it only charges with the case removed.

It could be the phone case, but, its not constant, I mean a day or two will charge full battery in 4 hrs aprox, like it should be, some other days 20% in 8 hours or so.. and its the same phone case

Mine charges Wirelessly in an hour. Snap Dragon 512gb Unlocked. Case is OtterBox Defender Pro and Charger is this one. If you do buy this one make sure you buy this exact model and not the one listed for $39.99 because that one only comes with a cable. The $59.99 one comes with cable and a 25 watt super fast charger. Will charge wirelessly at 15 watts or wired at 25 watts.

Sigh. I just double checked my preorder and this is what I have coming. Just like the review complaints, when I placed my order it had a picture of an adapter next to the charger so I logically assumed it was included. Now I see that they have 'updated' the product description to state that it is not included and I believe that was retroactively added because of all the negative reviews about this omission.
If I use one of the older 25 watt adapters that came with my Note 20 ultra, will it still work? I don't need it to fast charge. If regular charging takes a little over 2 hours from 0-100 with the phone plugged into the 25 watt adapter to a wall outlet- how much more longer do you think it will take to charge my yet to be shipped t-mobile S22 Ultra with this wireless charger?
