Bootloader unlocked - then what? - OPPO Find X2 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi, so I have the Chinese PDEM30 version of the Oppo X2 Pro and I've applied for the bootloader unlock using the in depth testing APK from Oppo. As I believe it was made available in July, wondering if anyone else has done this yet and had approval already?
Once (if) I get approval, I gather the unlock is pretty simple:
1) App says approved
2) restart into recovery mode by holding power + volume down (after backing up data of course).
3) plug into PC and use ADB to unlock using the simple generic fasboot command (after enabling USB debugging in developer options of course).
PHONE UNLOCKED!
So here comes the silly question - does this mean I can load ANY ROM I want or does it have to be a custom ROM via TWRP or some other tool.
I simply want to load the global ROM, so assuming I can just do this from the recovery mode. Obviously right now it doesn't work as we get the "this is an older version" error. Will an unlocked bootloader solve this or is there more to it?
Appreciate any help from someone a bit more familiar with the process.
Thanks
Ben

and FYI, here's the current status in the testing app, I have to wait until the 10th September for the result. Fingers crossed!

can you share the apk ?

It's over in this thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/find-x2-pro/how-to/roor-guide-t4111563/page4
Doesn't seem to work on a non-Chinese model though.

No, you have to register anyway as it's part of the criteria. Just register on Oppos UK site with your number, then login to the Chinese site using that login.

Thanks, didn't see that thread - very informative but still doesn't tell me if I'm able to load the standard global firmware once it's unlocked. Guess I'll find out in s few weeks

[GUIDE] Unlock Bootloader, Root & Install TWRP **UPDATE 11/24/15**

For an easy way to unlock & root your X2 here are the steps you need to take. This has been requested by a number of you so here it goes:
1) Unlock your bootloader. There are three steps you can take. The first two are free. The third method requires you to pay a few dollars but it works and is the fastest way. I would highly recommended this method. This is confirmed working on all models.
Option 1: Send an email to [email protected] Email them the following. They usually email you back and tell you to do option 2 or never email you back:
Hello. I keep getting an error when trying to unlock my phone on the unlock page.
Model: GEM-703L (Or whatever model you have)
Serial: Put in your phones serial number here. (You get this in About phone, Status)
IMEI: Put in your phones IMEI number here. (You get this in About phone, Status, it's IMEI1)
Product ID: (Go into your phone dialer and dial *#*#1357946#*#* and it will give you your Product ID)
Thank you for your help
(Your name here)
Option 2: Make a Huawei ID on your phone and stay signed in for 14 days and then go online to unlock your bootloader and it should work on the website.
Option 3: If you want to unlock your phone immediately and don't mind paying a few dollars this is the best and easiest way. Thanks to kpcheang2 for the original information. Visit here:
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/how-to-read-huawei-bootloader-unlock-code
- Download the DC Unlocker Software
- On their site buy 4 credits. https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy I used PayPal. It cost me around $4.38 USD.
- Follow the instructions in their tutorial. Make sure you put the phone in Manufacture Mode. Choose "Read Bootloader Code" in DC-Unlocker to get your bootloader code.
- Put your phone in bootloader mode (plug into the computer and hold in power and volume down with the phone off) and do a fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx where x is your bootloader unlock code the DC Unlocker program gave you.
2) Download TWRP recovery from here if you're already on Android 5.1.1
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862716585
2b) Download this TWRP if you're on Android 5.0 (Now in English!)
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767151055
Put your phone into Bootloader Mode and fastboot flash the TWRP recovery file you downloaded. (extract the img file from the rar file first) I'm not gonna go over how to use Fastboot here as there are many guides on many different websites on how to use it. Then do a fastboot reboot. When your phone reboots shut it back down and then hold in volume up and power until it turns on and keep holding in volume up until the phone boots into TWRP recovery.
3) Root your phone.
In TWRP flash SuperSU:
After flashing, reboot your phone and you will be rooted. If you want to manually upgrade to a specific Huawei build or flash back to stock, flash one of my modded Kangvip ROMS or visit bark1234's or eenapps thread for the downloads and instructions. Thanks to bark1234 and eennap for their threads and downloads.
Still nothing
So I've been trying to root since I was able to unlock my bootloader, which I was able to do from the website method.
I could not get adb to work with the other method listed on here.
Now with fastboot, my device is identified per the fastboot devices
I am able to run command fastboot flash recovery twrp_cn.img and it looks successful
so I restart and shut down
hold vol up and power and it vibrates and restarts and vibrates and restarts.....
I go back and flash the default recovey and am able to access this with the vol up and power, but cannot get to the twrp recovery. I have tried flashing a couple of versions and no custom recovery can I boot to.
Any help would be appreciated.

What model are you using? Also, what are you on, B106? When you boot into TWRP, I'm sure you already know this but make sure there is no cable plugged into the phone. Mine vibrates once after installing TWRP but I remain holding in volume up and it boots into TWRP the second time.

I don't know why they aren't responding to you. I'm starting to worry that when my new X2 comes (I ordered a second one) they won't respond to me either. I'm sure there will be a workaround.
I've been e-mailing them for almost two months and I haven't received one reply from them. I have the 703L and I've tried their website over and over with Google Translate's help. I always get the same error about the log books not being older than 14 days. I just can't get anywhere with Huawei and it's super frustrating that they don't support the U.S. that well.
What I did
Just signed up for the huawei cloud service. And after 14 days I was able to get the unlock code. Worked first time after trying the email way and waiting.

How were you able to sign in to the cloud service, every time I try I get that the Network is not available.
I went to this page with chrome http://www.emui.com/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail and let it translate for me. It took mrme to a login page and I bit the bullet and signed up. 14 days later I got my unlock code from the same page.
Can anyone confirm that dual sim works after using this root method. When i use boot.img root method, dual sim stops working.

Thanks very much.
I can use new OP to succesfully unlock my phone.
Does anyone know if these instructions would work on the Mediapad M2? They both use the same SoC and the display resolution is the same, though the M2 is 8" and the X2 is 7". The M2 ships with Lollipop 5.1 instead of 5.0, but I don't know if that makes any difference here.

DC Unlocker should work to unlock your bootloader but I'm not sure about everything else. I would imagine if you could find a build of TWRP for the M2 you can use the root method in the OP and it should work.

I have been trying to look, but I have yet to find TWRP for M2. I guess it's just too new yet and/or not popular enough to have garnered much support from the community. Thanks anyways, I'll just proceed with unlocking the bootloader for now.

Owners of European variant:Any interest in updating to B122?

Since I have been able to more or less reverse-engineer eRecovery, I figure I should use my solution to help people with the European edition too.
I know that right now, eRecovery is not working on the European edition, and there are no updates from B109SP02, from what I've heard.
If anyone is brave/adventurous, I can set up my DNS server to let eRecovery bring you version B122 for the variant MHA-L29C432. If there is any interest in this, please let me know in this thread.
(A note to Chinese MHA-AL00 users, take note of some bad news: It's not possible to flash these European roms onto the MHA-AL00 with European firmware yet. I can get it to download onto the device and pass security check, but the install fails due to a different partition/directory structure. I'm still somewhat working on finding a way, but it looks pretty much impossible without bootloader unlock, unfortunately)
What are the advantages? I always like to play with new fw but how tricky is this and did you notice improvements?
Thanks for your work. That would be interesting to try. I'm kind of new to the Mate9, is there something important that B122 brings?
I don't know. Nobody's installed it. But I don't think there's anything major to be gained from updating.
Ah then I will wait for an official update and not going to risk a bricked device
But big thanks for your offer to help ofcourse!
I'm tempted - would be able to give it a pop over the weekend

Yes. You are no longer able to flash UPDATE.APP with the Mate 9. I have an alternate method of flashing by hijacking Huawei's eRecovery procedure.
If you have an unlocked bootloader, you should be able to directly flash the partitions in fastboot, though.

Same here, Beta-Program as well. Just wondered why the bootloader was unlocked when I got the phone but good to know I am not the only one having this issue.
Did you also encounter problems while installing tools like AnTuTu or PC Mark by the way?

Bootloader Unlock Guide

DISCLAIMER: I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your device. Use the steps below at your own risk . Be mindful of the facts unlocking bootloader voids your warranty and also hard resets your device - ALL YOUR DATA, SETTINGS, FILES AND APPS WILL BE DELETED. These steps worked for me - I own Chinese version of 8.4" LTE model. I do not know if they will work for any other models of M5, including European versions, WiFi only version and 10" models.
To execute the steps below you will need to obtain unlock code, specific to bootloader of your device. There is a slow, painful and free way to get it, and there is a quick and easy way to get the code instantly, which will cost you 4 euros. The slow way is to create Huawei ID, register on Huawei website and request the unlock code directly from Huawei, through dedicated link they provide. I do not use this method, so I don't have the link - do not ask. You will have to provide justification why you need it, such as being a developer and you bought the device to develop and make a living off of it - something Huawei support would find reasonable. In most cases they will not agree to unlock bootloader if you just tell them you want to install some roms. In this guide I will be describing the other method to get it done, which costs 4 euros.
Follow these steps.
1. Go to DC Unlocker website, register for an account (or login, if you already have one)
2. Buy 4 credits (cost is 4 euro) using the Buy link
3. Download the latest DC Unlocker client (pictures 1,2 below)
4. Open the DC Unlocker client, click "server" tab on the right (picture 1) , enter your website login you created in step 1 and click "Check Login"
5. Select "Huawei phones" from "Select manufacturer" dropdown
6. On your M5, go to Dialer app, and type in *#*#2846579#*#* to open Project Menu
7. Click Background Settings->USB Port Settings->Manufacture Mode
8. Connect your M5 to PC via USB cable and return to DC Unlocker client
9. Click the Search button to detect your device. It should be detected as "Huawei HiSilicon Kirin Android" (picture 1)
10. Click "Unlocking" tab
11. Click "Read Bootloader Code"(picture 2). It may not work on the first try, but don't worry - unsuccessful bootloader code reads do not spend your credits. Give it a few seconds, disconnect/reconnect USB cable and try again
12. Copy and save generated bootloader code
13. Download Huawei Multi Tool from the bottom of this page and install it
14. Boot into download mode by powering off your M5, then holding Vol Down + Power keys simultaneously for a few seconds and then plugging in USB cable while still holding these 2 keys
15. Open Multi Tool v8 and paste the code you got from DC Unlocker into "Get Unlock Key" input field
16 Click "Use your key" button next to it (picture 3)
17. On the bottom right click the green "Unlock bootloader" button
18. You will get a bunch of warnings on your M5 screen about unlocking bootloader - press Vol Up key and then Power key
19. At this point your bootloader will be unlocked and M5 will factory reset itself
Note: using Multi Tool is optional. Instead, if you have ADB tools with fastboot installed on your PC, then after step 14 you can just use fastboot to unlock your bootloader, by typing "fastboot oem unlock <code>"
Note 2: I don't do tech support via PM, so don't PM me for help or with questions. Use the thread instead, and some other XDA members or myself will probably help you. Good luck!
Now I'm hoping some dev takes a shine to our phablet, and compiles TWRP build for it. It can certainly be installed now that we managed to unlock the bootloader
To enter Project Mode on Wifi only tablets, open calculator and enter () () 2,846,579 () (). On 10.8" tablet, it will need to be in landscape mode to get all the calculator symbols to show.
Am I right that warranty is still intact, as Huawei does not know what we are doing?
as long as we relock it when we are done ?

I think an answer for using the "unofficial" way would be that officially having an unlocked bootloader may void your warranty and I do not know how nice Huawei plays with that, so that the "official" way is not the best option to many people ...
If the device is halfway bricked, however, and you cannot restore the locked bootloader, they still know and are not too friendly either, because one did not use the proper method ...

Your assumptions are incorrect. Warranty is voided no matter whichever way you use to unlock. The correct answer to Marcopoloy13' post is that (1) he doesn't "have to" do anything, and (2) the site he linked, simply echoes what I already said in the OP - that you can contact Huawei to request the unlock code.
Was just guessing

I am trying yo get debian9 with xfce fully installed on this tablet with NO andriod system running such as linux deploy or VNC....
Am I the only one who couldn't get these instructions to work?
I can't get the device to install cleanly on either or my two Windows PCs. Perhaps I need drivers?
Perhaps as a result, DC Unlocker won't find my phone via automatic detection.
I might be able to get a code elsewhere - but I also can't get this thing to boot into Download mode.
Am I supposed to enable anything in Developer Options?
When I hook up to my PC, I get asked whether I want to charge only or xfer files or photos. Does it matter what I select?
Manufacture mode tends to revert back to Hisuite mode after I disconnect the USB cable.
Thanks...
(ETA - I figured out DL mode - the instructions say "power keyS" not "power key" - my bad)
(ETA - I got my key from DC. Got the following error message from Multi-Tool - 'Error! Unable to execute command, check the status of Bootloader and FRP (Phone Finder).' I'll figure this out.)
(ETA - turns out you have to enable OEM unlocking, who'd a thunk it. For the record, I'm not that Android illiterate, this is simply the first device I have bought in years, the first device I've bought within days of first root, and I'm used to everything being spelled out. Big thanks to the OP nonetheless!)

I'm not 100% sure, but three things:
Make sure to enable USB debugging via Developer Options.
Make sure you are still in Manufacturer mode, and have not been reverted back to Hisuite mode, before hooking it up to your PC .
I installed and opened Multi-Tool before I successfully generated a code; I forget if I did anything in particular, but it prompted me to download a Huawei_Drivers zip file that I might or might not have needed.

I managed to fix it, but I'm also not clear on what I did that caused it to work for others who might be running into the problem.
The last thing I did before it worked was install and update the latest HiSuite from Huawei's website. Otherwise I also was trying to install the Huawei drivers from Multi-Tool. Either one of those is likely the culprit for it finally working.

Mi Mix 3 bootloop, please Help.

Solved!
Firstly, I apologize for basic English, but it is not my first language.
I am desperate and urgently needing help.
I made the mistake of flash the Global rom 10.1.1 in a Chinese ver. and locking the bootloader through MI flash tools.
The result was a Bootloop to recovery.
Already tried:
Re-unlock the bootloader
- I get the message "Wait 30 days to unlock another device".
Install through recovery using Mi Pc suite 3.0 beta.
-With stable version 10.2.2 I receive the message "error install the latest version"
- With version Dev 9.1.14 "error to install the dev version download on the official website"
Finally in EDL mode with Miflash tools ver. 2018
- I get the message that I am not have permissions to flash any of the Roms above.
Can someone please help me, through some unknown process or through authentication my ID 1683581889.
Many thanks in advance.
Short tutorial
1- Start your device in EDL mode "test point" by : https://en.miui.com/thread-5293017-1-1.html .
2- Download TeamViewer 14.x.x, MIFlash tools 2018 and last version of the fastboot Rom "Dev or Stable".
3- get in touch with this guy " https://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=5189577 " .

If you flashed the Global rom on the Chinese model phone and locked the bootloader you'll have yourself a nice paper weight
I hope not,
When I did the flash, had the pc connected to a smarttv, due to high resolution the option "clean all and lock" was hidden. which led to screw up.
You need to reflash the stock Chinese firmware with Xiaomi's firmware flashing tool. If you unlocked your device through the official app, it will be able to re-unlock the bootloader to flash it.
It was my first choice. Tried with:
Miflash 3.0/3.x, Miflash pro 3.x, XiaoMiflash, XiaomoABD and always end up with same results " error install the latest version". Maybe i losing something.
With official unlock tool i get message "Wait 30 days to unlock another device".
Maybe because i unlink my account before,
the idea was return to full stock to resell the device.

You can try EDL mode but not sure how that's done on the Mix 3

At this moment, the device is disassembled in the EDL mode.
But when I try to flash a Rom I'm getting the message, that my ID does not have permissions to flash.

Unlinking your account removes your ability to re-unlock your bootloader necause that devices bootloader unlock was tied to your account.

And now because you can't boot phone to connect account to phone it's a paper weight. Not sure what else you can do.
You could try using the standard fastboot from google and running through the scripts provided by Xiaomi to try to flash, even though the BL is locked. You might be able to fix it that way. What I would do is connect the phone, hold down VOL Down + Power til you get Fastboot mode, and then try running through the fastboot lines one at a time in the Xiaomi script.
As others have mentioned, you have created a brick. Whatever you choose to do at this point is up to you, and you certainly could make your situation worse. If you live in a country that Xiaomi supports, you could get the device to a service center and they can almost certainly fix it. I am looking into Qualcomm EDL stuff on this device, and am hopeful that I can find a way to change the hardware origin flags at a hardware level. Nothing concrete yet though.
Edit: for clarity: I'm saying flash a CN STABLE version from fastboot, over the global version.

I Will try.
Status:
Didn't work , lost recovery " system destroyed".
Now i only have fastboot and EDL mode.
I've been talking to the S-unlocked team, and they say they support Mi MIX 3 through EDL mode. The service costs $ 25. Does anyone know someone who provides the same service cheaper?

Cheaper??? That sounds like a bargain!

I have to agree! You can't expect them to do it for nothing. It is a service and it will restore the device that isn't working to working condition. Definitely a bargain!

Sorry, but it's not my point of view, please understand.
So far U-Unlocker was unknown company I'm afraid to spend another 25 $ for nothing.
So far I'm losing $ 500 "device cost" I do not want to waste more money on a device that is device that is destined for resale.

That doesn't make much sense.
If you do nothing you lose $500, phone in current state has no resale value.
If you spend $25 you could potentially get your phone back to a working state with a few hundred value

Maybe the right question was.
Anyone know if they are reliable? It will work? Or someone used the service before for this device.

How To Guide [Soft Unbrick] How to Flash the Stock Firmware in Realme GT Neo 2 [bitra][Fastboot Mode]

Update> Currently I recommend this method only for unbrick, if you are going to change regions or install stock use this new method: Here
>> Need bootloader unlocked <<
If you want to unbrick or flash stock, you must download the package corresponding to your device and RUI version
1. Download the .zip package and extract the .ofp file
Packages:IndiaRUI 2.0 Android 11 A.07: DownloadRUI 3.0 Android 12 C.03: Download---------------EuropeRUI 2.0 Android 11 A.06: DownloadRUI 3.0 Android 12 C.02: Download---------------ChinaRUI 2.0 Android 11 A.06: Download---------------Russia, Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and other regionsRUI 2.0 Android 11 A.02: DownloadRUI 3.0 Android 12 C.02: Download---------------
2. Download and Install OppoRealme-OFP-Flash Tool: Here
3. Place the extracted .ofp file in the same folder as the program.
4. Run OppoRealme-OFP-Flash
5. When running if you have placed only one .ofp file in the folder it will automatically select it.
6. Choose the region you want to install, if you don't know you can search on google country code, or go in automatic mode by adb (if your cell phone isn't bricked).
7. Then it will ask if you want to keep some partitions (if you're doing it for bootloader lock you can't keep any).
8. Accept the terms and then plug the device into fastboot mode.
9. Done!
Note: after this process if you want to lock the bootloader, restart again in fastboot mode and type the command "fastboot flashing lock"
At last! Thank you! Will try it as soon as I have some free time to do it!
One quick question please. So let's say I want to go from Europe to India rom. I need to unlock bootloader and start the process you described. Do I need to take backup any partition in order not to lose IMEI or something? And after flashing to relock bootloader only type "fastbook flashing lock"? Some people were saying there is no official method to relock the bootloader again that's why I'm asking.

almost that, you don't lose the imei, you lock the bootloader I've already tested and proven it, but I don't recommend doing it without the rom that comes on your device.if you want to test, but it can happen hardbrick.

You mean lock the bootloader with the rom that my device has already? So if it's europe it has to stay europe and do the lock if I understand correctly.

That's right, I don't know if blocking with a system from another region would work, it could even work, but it's risky to test, only if you have 10usd to pay for the hard unbrick.

Listen, the thing is that I wouldn't even bother to test another rom. I already have made a thread here asking for some help because I have problem with incoming caller ID on 4G/5G with VoLTE enabled. Since no solution has been found, even after contacting Realme, the next thing to try was another (stock always) rom to see if it would work. If I would try to change rom I have to be VERY careful because there are absolutely NO service centers of Realme in my country. That's why I'm asking these questions. I want to know how safe is to "transfer" from another rom and if it is posible to return to my stock rom again with locked bootloader.

It's with my tool, it's totally safe, and it's easy to return to your region of origin, she has some protection so that nothing serious happened.

Thank you man. Totally appreciate your effort. Just to be clear one last time. You can do w/e test you want by changing roms/regions with unlocked BL and then after if you want to return your phone to what it was from factory you flash again your initial rom and lock BL.

great work thank you
Sorry if I may ask for clearer steps. The steps is kinda vague like you did not mention anything that need to be prepared from the device. And, if we change to another region rom, do we get future OTA official update form realme? Thank you in advance.
