Owners of European variant:Any interest in updating to B122? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Since I have been able to more or less reverse-engineer eRecovery, I figure I should use my solution to help people with the European edition too.
I know that right now, eRecovery is not working on the European edition, and there are no updates from B109SP02, from what I've heard.
If anyone is brave/adventurous, I can set up my DNS server to let eRecovery bring you version B122 for the variant MHA-L29C432. If there is any interest in this, please let me know in this thread.
(A note to Chinese MHA-AL00 users, take note of some bad news: It's not possible to flash these European roms onto the MHA-AL00 with European firmware yet. I can get it to download onto the device and pass security check, but the install fails due to a different partition/directory structure. I'm still somewhat working on finding a way, but it looks pretty much impossible without bootloader unlock, unfortunately)

What are the advantages? I always like to play with new fw but how tricky is this and did you notice improvements?

Thanks for your work. That would be interesting to try. I'm kind of new to the Mate9, is there something important that B122 brings?

I don't know. Nobody's installed it. But I don't think there's anything major to be gained from updating.

Ah then I will wait for an official update and not going to risk a bricked device
But big thanks for your offer to help ofcourse!

I'm tempted - would be able to give it a pop over the weekend

I allready tried to flash the MHA-L29C432B122 version but i got the message `software installation failed`right at the start. Scource http://www.android-hilfe.de/thema/mate-9-fw-mha-l29-b122.804967/.

Tried applying bit failed for me too. Any way to apply with unlocked bootloader?

Yes. You are no longer able to flash UPDATE.APP with the Mate 9. I have an alternate method of flashing by hijacking Huawei's eRecovery procedure.
If you have an unlocked bootloader, you should be able to directly flash the partitions in fastboot, though.

Same here, Beta-Program as well. Just wondered why the bootloader was unlocked when I got the phone but good to know I am not the only one having this issue.
Did you also encounter problems while installing tools like AnTuTu or PC Mark by the way?

I just cant root my phone??? grrrrrrrr

Bought my Huawei G520 direct from China
Never occured to me that it would have no access to google apps
Anyway I found out the bootloader was also locked so i couldn't flash anything (except for those complete roms with INSTALL file)
Sent an email to Huawei with phone details requesting the code to unlock the bootloader
They sent me the code the very next day!!!
With the message "Thanks for supporting Huawei"
Brilliant
but my hopes were soon dashed - the phone *still* wont root??????????????????
I must of tried 10 different root methods and how I haven't bricked it I'll never no - but they all fail at some point
I mean, the bootloader is now definitely UNlocked, (it reports UNLOCKED and used to report LOCKED), it even has clockwork mod on it some how and it works fine, but any attempt to install roms fail
I have Rom Explorer on the phone and that quite clearly says the phone is not rooted???
I dont know whats going on?
Any ideas what else might be locked on it?

It sounds like a filesystem issue, maybe a hardware problem, like bad flash memory. Are you able to install apps and copy files to it?
Did you install CWM, or did it come with it?

Thanks for your enthusiasm but my method does not Unlock the bootloader so you should change your thread title.
As I told you I will open a thread when the method is fully tested by a few advanced user's who are testing it now and you will be given full credit for all your help.
I do not want to risk anyone bricking their phones due to rushing. Many none advanced users bricked their sony c4 phones by Not following my instructions so I need this to be 100% clear and fully tested I hope you understand.
I understand you @bigrammy by flashing twrp bootloader will automatically unlocked !

If the bootloader was unlocked fully you would be able to use fastboot to flash the device but we cannot so the bootloader is still locked to all intense purposes.
The secure boot chain does appear to be broken so we can use SPFlashTool to flash and boot our TWRP recovery but the secure boot chain may still be working if you have never unlocked the bootloader before like on Android 7.x. This means TWRP may Not boot up for everyone. Like I said it needs to be fully tested.

Actually, spflashtool bypasses the bootloader in this instance, so the bootloader is untouched and you still flash twrp

Not to be pessimistic, but you do realise that even with all your precautions, people will still not read properly and will still brick their phones, no matter how many precautions you take. Even if you had an app that requires you to click one button to do everything, there are still people who will do it wrong. That said I think I know of one or 2 people in this Nokia 3 forum who were able to recover their phones using spflashtool AFTER the phone couldn't even be detected by their pc, even OST flashing was not possible .
Another thing is, all the Nokia 3 is last year's phone, I wonder how many experienced users will be buying the phone now, and experienced people are probably not the best way to get something 100% tested, because they know the right steps to take.
I think you should make your method public after you hear from SkaboXD

Sorry I replied to your PM before seeing this.
True there is no accounting for people but I don't want to get bogged down by noob's. If you and maybe SkaboXD would like to open a thread and manage it using the method then that would be fine by me as long as credit is give to Riadh300 the original tester and who informed me SPFlashTool still worked and myself of course.
Please read my PM about the bootloader condition as I recommend only previously unlocked devices try this for now until tested by Advanced user able to recover the device should anything go wrong (EFuse Blown).

Alright I understand your point now. One thing I wonder though is: would someone on nougat who has never unlocked bootloader be able to flash ost?
Just checked my phone, oem unlocking was set to off so you're right, your method doesn't actually affect the bootloader.
I actually don't mind posting your method and giving you guys the credit, I just thought that you would want to be the one to do so.
Anyway I'll wait to hear @SkaboXD thoughts before I decide on whether to put up the post

Before on 7.0 I flashed a TWRP I was working on via SPFlashTool bootloader locked and ended up in a never ending recovery bootloop which none advanced users may find difficult to get out of now this may of been because I screwed up the TWRP or more likely because the bootloader was Locked.
I did not try any other TWRP's until I was bootloader Unlocked and I have not had the recovery bootloop since.
Not sure about OST as SPFlashTool is by far the best tool for MediaTek devices and recovery of said devices remember the SoC manufacturer knows best and I only ever see problems when the OEM's try to move away from it like Sony did.
Happy for you to take the lead I am too busy in other threads to worry about it

I will lock bootloader and try this method of rooting. I think that is this the best method because it doesn't affect bootloader so you can have OTA updates. Just what is the root manager, SuperSU or Magisk?
I think that we could make a thread when this mehod is tested on both Nougat and Oreo with locked bootloader. As far as i read, Oreo is tested so only Nougat remains to test.

OK, one thing though, before flashing the recovery you might want to do a backup of the stock recovery if you don't already have one. That's what I did, so after I got root, flashed back my stock recovery. Magisk is the root manager ,

oh you mean you went through hoops to get your phone back? I thought you would say you got a stock recovery somewhere and flashed using spflashtool or used the ost method. I didn't actually expect you to outline the steps you used. BTW, first time I flashed twrp AFTER unlocking bootloader, I got stuck in a recovery bootloop too. I had to flash my phone with OST then retry the process again.
One other thing, I think OST is actually a propriety software that is supposed to work for lots of phones, at least I know that users of other non mediatek Nokia phones also use it to recover their phones (with the corresponding stock images of course)

Magisk hide allows you get OTA's see the Magisk thread and yes it will work on any android version.
@redweaver
I am glad you got out of the loop but your clearly a more advanced user hence why I ask you to test. :good:
The OST is very convoluted for use on MediaTek devices and is very unnecessary it also requires unnecessary FIH software to be installed on the phone to work properly.
They likely choose this method to work across different SoC's but it's not what MediaTek use SPFlashTool is MediaTeks own software.
EDIT: Sorry lost internet for a while then.
I continue: Good news is I do not think they will be able to remove SPFlashTool use as it's binary on device which lives on a none volatile area ram chip or radio chip and is loaded at the factory so I doubt it can be updated via a OTA. :fingers-crossed:
Sony actually replaced this and this is the only device I have been unable to recover and even Sony were replacing the boards of bricked devices but if they had left the Mediatek binary in there it would not of been a issue as SPFlashTool would of been able to recover them. :good:
guys, old thread, i know, different device, i know, but ive been in the dark and this is what most resembles my issue.

carrier doesnt get in the way
oem doesnt get in the way
oem unlock toggle, check, adb debugging, you and i know the drill, no driver/cable issues
cannot for the life of me unlock bootloader, this one would take the newer command, however i tried them all ive come accross to no avail
output encourages me to unlock first, howwever not a clue is given as to how to accomplish it. this isnt the flash a file type of unlocking, either, at least not oem provided. going nuts.

If your device shows Bootloader status unlocked allowed 'yes'
Then goto unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com
And select device modle and enter emi number and fu+k yourself and get an unlock code.
And use experifirm to flash any regions firmware even global too.

Please keep your temperament low, Mister.
And thank you for "misguiding" people. I unlocked bootloader, downloaded a ton of roms and none would flash. Each one of them results in errors. Downloaded any custom roms available, most go into bootloop while some wont install even.
Relocked bootloader and still wont install OTAs so I am stuck with stock MM with no possibility of getting Nougat because on SO-01H Nougat update is OTA only and there is no FTF available anywhere.
Thanks again. And please dont swear on public forums.

Thats OK.
I have no idea what jeffal jetwari is, but rest assured your advice was acted upon and it made me lose too many hours trying to fix it. No ftf's for other variants work, not even the global version, no custom roms work and there is really not much of a benefit having unlocked the bootloader. So please only advise on something you have experienced personally.

Bootloader unlocked - then what?

Hi, so I have the Chinese PDEM30 version of the Oppo X2 Pro and I've applied for the bootloader unlock using the in depth testing APK from Oppo. As I believe it was made available in July, wondering if anyone else has done this yet and had approval already?
Once (if) I get approval, I gather the unlock is pretty simple:
1) App says approved
2) restart into recovery mode by holding power + volume down (after backing up data of course).
3) plug into PC and use ADB to unlock using the simple generic fasboot command (after enabling USB debugging in developer options of course).
PHONE UNLOCKED!
So here comes the silly question - does this mean I can load ANY ROM I want or does it have to be a custom ROM via TWRP or some other tool.
I simply want to load the global ROM, so assuming I can just do this from the recovery mode. Obviously right now it doesn't work as we get the "this is an older version" error. Will an unlocked bootloader solve this or is there more to it?
Appreciate any help from someone a bit more familiar with the process.
Thanks
Ben
and FYI, here's the current status in the testing app, I have to wait until the 10th September for the result. Fingers crossed!

How To Guide [Soft Unbrick] How to Flash the Stock Firmware in Realme GT Neo 2 [bitra][Fastboot Mode]

Update> Currently I recommend this method only for unbrick, if you are going to change regions or install stock use this new method: Here
>> Need bootloader unlocked <<
If you want to unbrick or flash stock, you must download the package corresponding to your device and RUI version
1. Download the .zip package and extract the .ofp file
Packages:IndiaRUI 2.0 Android 11 A.07: DownloadRUI 3.0 Android 12 C.03: Download---------------EuropeRUI 2.0 Android 11 A.06: DownloadRUI 3.0 Android 12 C.02: Download---------------ChinaRUI 2.0 Android 11 A.06: Download---------------Russia, Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and other regionsRUI 2.0 Android 11 A.02: DownloadRUI 3.0 Android 12 C.02: Download---------------
2. Download and Install OppoRealme-OFP-Flash Tool: Here
3. Place the extracted .ofp file in the same folder as the program.
4. Run OppoRealme-OFP-Flash
5. When running if you have placed only one .ofp file in the folder it will automatically select it.
6. Choose the region you want to install, if you don't know you can search on google country code, or go in automatic mode by adb (if your cell phone isn't bricked).
7. Then it will ask if you want to keep some partitions (if you're doing it for bootloader lock you can't keep any).
8. Accept the terms and then plug the device into fastboot mode.
9. Done!
Note: after this process if you want to lock the bootloader, restart again in fastboot mode and type the command "fastboot flashing lock"
At last! Thank you! Will try it as soon as I have some free time to do it!
One quick question please. So let's say I want to go from Europe to India rom. I need to unlock bootloader and start the process you described. Do I need to take backup any partition in order not to lose IMEI or something? And after flashing to relock bootloader only type "fastbook flashing lock"? Some people were saying there is no official method to relock the bootloader again that's why I'm asking.

almost that, you don't lose the imei, you lock the bootloader I've already tested and proven it, but I don't recommend doing it without the rom that comes on your device.if you want to test, but it can happen hardbrick.

That's right, I don't know if blocking with a system from another region would work, it could even work, but it's risky to test, only if you have 10usd to pay for the hard unbrick.

Listen, the thing is that I wouldn't even bother to test another rom. I already have made a thread here asking for some help because I have problem with incoming caller ID on 4G/5G with VoLTE enabled. Since no solution has been found, even after contacting Realme, the next thing to try was another (stock always) rom to see if it would work. If I would try to change rom I have to be VERY careful because there are absolutely NO service centers of Realme in my country. That's why I'm asking these questions. I want to know how safe is to "transfer" from another rom and if it is posible to return to my stock rom again with locked bootloader.

Thank you man. Totally appreciate your effort. Just to be clear one last time. You can do w/e test you want by changing roms/regions with unlocked BL and then after if you want to return your phone to what it was from factory you flash again your initial rom and lock BL.
