Hello,
Since I got my Android phone ive synced my SIM contacts to my gmail accounts and whenever I add a new contact I save it under my Gmail account ( when asked by the prompt).
I have noticed Ive been losing some contacts and I have no idea why. It happened like 3 times before and today I did a factory reset and when I synced my gmail contacts I noticed most of the recently added contacts were not there, logged on to my gmail account and checked the contacts there and didnt find them either.
This is really frustrating. other than the fact that I need one of my contacts info for urgent reasons, Its really embarrassing to keep on asking for the same person's number over and over again. Theres this particular guy's number that my phone just wont keep, Ive lost 3 times already and today I lost it again.
Sorry for the rant. Why is this happening ? How can I fix it ?
save to PHONE AND DON'T SYNC WITH GOOGLE or download contacts to sim apk
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Ill do that .
No one knows what causes this ;( ?
I sync contacts with Google and have never lost a contact. It sounds like it's NOT synching with Google, and that's the problem.
Try adding the contacts to Google via a browser and see if they appear on the phone. If not then you're not synching correctly and need to check your account settings on your phone. You certainly shouldn't lose any contacts if you add them that way anyway.
Till yesterday night my Atrix 2 was working just fine and i was plying some games on it. Today morning i got up and BOOM all contacts disappeared. I received a text from a friend on watsapp and it showed only number and no names. When i checked in contacts there is 0...nothing at all...all my call records, phonebook all is wiped automatically though messages are there and they show numbers but no names. I soft restart the phone , then did a hard reset by taking the battery but to no good. I even scanned the phone and SD card with avast for any possible virus but nothing. I have my google, yahoo, and watsapp contacts synced but all phone numbers were stored locally on phone only. I updated to ICS just a few days back and didn't have any problems until this one PLEASE HELP

Hey
I was just using my Galaxy S3 and talking on the phone when it randomly rebooted and went into safe mode.
So i took the battery out and rebooted it again stated but it seemed to have wiped or I lost all my accounts such as HaxSync for my FB contact, hotmail account wasnt there, facebook had to re login and sync the account was deleted off the phone , all my contacts synced pictures had gone. Swiftkey was disabled.
anyone know what the cause of this could be? or has had similar problem? so did it pretty much delete all those accounts and pictures .so annoying
thanks
Dialer and Contacts app are loading too slowly, If I receive a call from a number that already exists in my Contact list, It doesn't shows up the name for quiet sometime, after 5 seconds it shows the name, issue started for last 3 days. Tried clearing the Cache of Contacts app, cleared data, cleared unwanted SMSes, all in no use. Please suggest some work around.
same here
I am also facing same problems. Whats the solution? Is there any update required?
Got G5, reporting the same issue..

It's not solving the issue of battery draining..
It seems like it solves the contacts slowness but the battery draining is huge!

Same issue
Started several days ago.
LG G4 contacts very slow to find a name. When answering a call, only number displayed without a name.
Viewed device CPU per app and the contacts storage app (android.process.acore) consuming ~15% CPU almost all the time.
Have no idea what happened but phone quite useless, as searching for contacts takes very long time.
Anyone has an idea what to do or what happened?
Sad to face problem with the primary usage of a phone - contact and calling

Battery is draining fast and 5 seconds to load a contact or start a call

i was also facing same problem after i updated my 36 apps together from play store. My contacts and dialer became too slow and buggy, i was so confused .
After reading your comment i removed contact permission from whatsapp and my problem solved . That means new whatsapp updated on 8Feb2018 version 2.18.46 have some bugs related to contacts sync.
NOPES .... nothings changed even after removing contact permission from Whatsapp, I even uninstalled it yet still the same

Try this: Remove accounts from accounts and sync from settings which you are not using. Mostly you might have lot of google accounts linked to your mobile use your primary account and if there are some accounts which you are not using please remove it or sync limited google apps with those apart from primary account.

Why do you want to make a new thread and not want to continue here ?
Today after so many days finally i got miui 12.0.3 and i updated. Everything was good except when I thought to call my gf. Dafuq. The entire call log was filled with plain numbers instead of Names and that was really distressing. I checked the contacts, the numbers were there but the same would not be reflected in call logs. I tried every trick in the book but before clearing data of Phone (contacts and dialer) app I thought to take a backup of my contacts but when i went to settings and pressed export Dafuq again, the app showed that no memory card found. Now this is really strange because earlier it didnt ask for it. I tried using another f1 at home (unupdated) and it didn't have this problem. So now i started thinking out of the box. I downloaded mi contacts and dialer 12.2.2.1 from apkmirror and installed it. Now the sdcard error was gone but yet it didnt show my call logs. Now i exported all contacts to device. Cleared the data of Phone (contacts and dialer) app and then imported the backup. The importing took around 20 mins and then everything was back to normal. Hope this helps somebody.
Thank u
Simple and 1000000% working way(i talked to a MI executive for this)
1. If you have already cleared data and cannot see anything on the dialer app(just black screen) then restart your device. Then you would be able to see everything.
2. Then go to contacts and tap on 3 dots on top right and open settings.
3. Go to 'more' option and select Rebuild Index Data
Note- Rebuilding will take a lot of time depending on how much contacts you have. Mine took 15-20minutes for 2000 contacts soo have patience.
