[Q] it is possible to...

Sorry, I'm new to this so sorry if this seems dumb.
So i bought the phone from rogers and immediately updated to froyo 2.2 official release by rogers/samsung.
I read about all the hype online about rooting and custom roms so i decided to give it a shot.
I used the superoneclick method to root my phone and it was successful.
I then used "rom manager - clockworkmod" and created a restore file before i did any flashing to my phone.
after creating a backup, i went on and flashed to the cognition 3.04.
Now my question is. Am i ever able to get my phone back to its original rom, kernel, and modem? the reason i want to know is because i might need to get my phone replaced due to some technical issues with the phone.
Also, does the backup of my phone after rooting play a part in any of this? if so, how?
Im sorry if there is already a post like this one. Its just that i couldn't find the answer through all the hundreds of pages of threads and replies, so I thought it would be easier to post a here with my specific question. Thanks.
regards,
danny

Do I not use that link in general, or just not to use the firmware given at the bottom? the steps are correct though, no?
also from my searching.
i can put my phone back to my backup point (just after rooting) through clockworkmod. Woud this change my rom back to stock from? how about kernel and modem and all that? would that all get reversed back to my backup point? meaning it will basically be a stock phone. But I think also read somewhere that my kernel and modem does not get changed back to rogers original one. is there a way to do it?
I then found this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846501
that says i need the original rogers rom for the captivate by the links there no longer work for download. Also on that thread, it was mentioned that the AT&T logo will still come up on startup, which would not be a good idea if i had to send my phone in for warrenty.
I then looked at : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/SGH-I896
Here it tells me to flash to a i9000 before i reflash to a rogers firmware in order to remove the at&t logo. it also provides me with a link for the " Official Rogers Stock ROM ", but according to somebody on the first link i posted here, it isnt the "official rom"
Any ideas?
This is where I got the stock 2.2 file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905042.
Edit: I have flashed a bunch of times and have never got stuck with the AT&T startup after flashing back to stock with the odin file.

Thanks. Do you know if my kernel is going to go back to stock too or is it going to remain the same as the custom rom one?

If you use the odin file the kernal and modem will revert back to stock.

Thanks. So im assuming now that the only time my kernel and modem wont go back to stock is when i flash with CWM. correct?
I haven't tried using the CWM file in that link so I'm not sure if it contains the kernel and modem. As far as custom roms go most if not all come packaged with the kernel and modem of choice.
So.. When I do a "master clear" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989...
Would everything be wiped? I read somewhere that when you do a "wipe" from your settings it only clears user settings or something. What would a "wipe"
from the recovery menu do?
I flashed to a different rom today thinking it will help my battery issue. When i am flashing from one rom to the next, i do a restore back to my backup before i flash to a new rom. Is this the correct method? or am i supposed to wipe beforehand? The reason i ask is because this is my 2nd rom and my battery issue still seems to be there. I tried other methods of fixing hte battery but nothign seems to work. When i looked into root explorer, i see that there are a lot more files now everywhere, than when i first started. would some of them be from my previous rom? if so how do i remove them?

[Q] Please help! Stuck in bootloop, TWRP not working, no idea what else to try!

So, I'm trying to fix a phone for a friend of mine. I previously put CM10 on it (not sure which version at this point), and he recently started getting stuck in a bootloop. I tried wiping /data & /cache, didn't help. Tried re-installing the rom, didn't help. Tried installing the latest versions (both stable and nightly), didn't help. Tried installing arrgh's kernel, didn't help. Now I'm trying to get it back to stock, just to see if that'll work. I can get into fastboot just fine, and both cwm and skrilax's recovery work, but the only guide I found that has working DL links is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33391825&postcount=9, and while I can get TWRP installed and boot into it, I'm unable to select anything. I don't know if the program is acting up or if there's an issue with the touchscreen, but it's really frustrating. I've got the .win files ready to go, but not being able to navigate TWRP is holding me back. Is there any other way to install these files, or is there a way to get TWRP to work? I'm using the latest version (2.6.3.0). Would installing an earlier version work? Is there any known way to fix the bootloop issue? Is there a rom more stable than the official CM10? I realize that's a lot of questions, but as I'm at the end of my rope here, I figured I might as well get it all out there, and hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

CM10 was never really "stable" on the Q. 10.1 is pretty solid, and 10.2 runs fairly well as well.
If you want to go back to stock, why not just use RSD lite?

I think it was 10.2 that I put on originally.
I would love to use RSD, but like I said, all the guides I found had dead DL links.

Uhm, when you talk about working download links you link to some recovery hack.
I'm talking RSD Lite, and using fastboot to flash all of the stock stuff back.
Please read the link I sent - I can download those FXZ files no problem.

Huh. Must be late, totally didn't see that you had posted a link. I think I wound up on that page at one point, but the latest version of RSD Lite I could find from a site that didn't look sketchy was 5.7. When I search for 6.1.5, I get a lot of random download links (don't usually trust those, and a lot of non-English sites.
Yeah, may need to stop for the night and pick it back up tomorrow. Completely missed that there's a link to 6.0 on that thread. Will try that. Now, when you say to use RSD and then using fastboot to flash the stock stuff back, what do you mean? I thought RSD would take me back to stock.

I posted a direct link to 6.0 here, others posted their links in that thread as well.
Thanks for all your help. Will get RSD from that thread and try the files you linked. Hopefully that gets me further.
Yeah, RSD got me back to stock. The phone is borked anyway; the power button is iffy at best, and the touchscreen has stopped working, so he's gonna haveta try to get a replacement. Thanks for all the help.

[REQUEST] Newest version of MIUI mirror

Tried to root my phone that just came in the mail today. I am stuck at the mi screen.
Tried to download from official site but the download keeps failing.
A mirror to the new update so I can flash stock and any advice would be great!
Thanks all
Which version are you talking about?
Latest is 6.6.6.0 as far as i know.
The version with 6.6.8.0 is only for Asia and not released for the world.
About rooting: use the toolkit v4 (and not v3)
First install TWRP via that toolkit and only then start the root proces.
Worked for me, but if you do in another order, you will get stuck.
http://en.miui.com/thread-117336-1-1.html
Thanks for the reply and the quick guide to rooting it. I may have been trying it with something other than V4 which could have caused the stall at the "mi" screen.
I think I might just have to wait until their servers are back up because I'm pretty sure ill have to do the fastboot flashing method.
@gotmicah
I had problems downloading too the last days...slow speed and after a few MB it kept failing. In miui forum i found a tip about this tool http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/
Just copy the download link in there, worked great
And i think if you install twrp and flash your Rom, it should be enough.
Yeah, and one more thing. Xposed doesn't work in MIUI, but it does work on my build of CM12.1. Don't try using Xposed, caused a lot of problems for me (like apps disappearing etc) and don't use OTA. Download the update zip from the website and flash manually. Just thought I'd put this out there

Thanks dude, you're the true MVP here! I used something similar to freedownloadmanager and was able to get the newest fastboot version in around 2 hours! Sounds slow, but better than a failed DL (I had to remove the link in the quote because im a new member)

This is useful, thanks!
ALSO
I just want to let everyone know that may be searching because of a bad flash or similar situation...
If your flash keeps failing, switch computers and try again. My flash would only take a few seconds, say successful but the phone would be stuck in fastboot mode. I installed the same exact files/ drivers on another laptop, tried again and within a few minutes had a perfectly function phone again. Of course this was after hours of frustration and it ended up just being the computer I was flashing it on...

[Completed] Note 3 stuck on aicp_hltetmo_lp-8.0-NIGHTLY-20150218

OK this is probably somewhere already and I just can't find it but, i received a preused note 3 using the aicp_hltetmo_lp-8.0-NIGHTLY-20150218 rom. now I want to test out a few new roms but I have a problem it seems that every rom is now this same one. I have tried several different roms and several different ways of installing them. clockwork and other on device programs cause a fail in Odin the only way to recover from this is to use Odin to flash a new rom. No matter what rom I use in Odin it still boots to the same rom in question. Can anyone help me get off this rom?

Hi,
Don't use odin to flash a custom firmware. For further question , try asking over here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/help

Question How do i restore back to Stock Firmware, Help!!

Right so, i got a LE 2117 T-Mobile Oneplus 9, previously on eu Firmware, OOS13 beta, wanted to try out custom roms on it, i got a unlocked bootloader, and tried many of the custom roms, and just don't happen to really find it like home with these custom roms, i wanted to flash stock again, therefore i looked around and found out you gotta use a MSM tool to flash stock, and so i did, i tried the GLOBAL and EU both of the MSM tools come up with the same (Param preload error)
things I've tried so far
use different computers, Win7-10
reinstall Qualcomm drivers multiple times
booting into test mode
just to mention the drivers r perfectly fine. (i guess)
