Hi,
I just mounted a cheap one bundled with a cover I bought and the fingerprint sensor became near unusable, failing to read like 4/5 of the times... not surprised, I just wanted to start using the phone ASAP before buying a better screen protector.
So, do you have some brand/model that you experienced working good using the fingerprint reader?
Thanks in advance.
P.S.
I noticed that some kits also have an extra glass for the rear cam, it's my first time with such a thick cam so not sure how effective is the protection from the cover only or if the extra glass are 100% needed, what's your advice?

Just got this one, covers the whole screen and fingerprint reader doesn't seem to be affected at all.

Did you take off the film screen protector that comes pre installed?
The screen protector in using (will say which if interested) works fine 80 percent of the time right away, but sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries.

Does it cover the whole of the screen? I bought one and the fingerprint reader works most of the time but the 2/3mm gap all the way around is kind of annoying me!
thanks

Any better alternatives? Especially the fingerprint is annoying at times.

And you have no fingerprint issues?

I just tried that and now it doesn't recognize any of my fingerprints! ?
Maybe I did something wrong?
Have you deleted your registrated fingerprints first?
Have you rebooted? Re calibrate it again.
At a other forum somebody else has tried this procedure with a sheet of black and a sheet of white paper.
I have not tried this procedure because my sensor is working well.

The instructions aren't clear (it mentions a mirror?) and they're very vague...
I was forced to delete my fingerprints because they just weren't recognized. Not that it's not a good idea, but it would be nice to have clearer instructions. Thanks for the efforts!

I think I need to calibrate my fod, it's fails to recognise my fingerprint most of the time , mostly when I've got a tempered glass screen protector on but even without its not great
I've now ordered one that's been recommended in this thread
While I wait for that to arrive, has anyone tried to recalibrate the fod with a screen protector on?

Just fitted ******* screen protector with great results and finger print reader working fine
Couldn't be happier
mine works fine with a cheap aliexpress screen protector. i did get one that just covers the screen, cause i use a case them anti choc ones with big corner bumper i love them, fit great and gives a lip at the front so the screen doesnt hit first.
but after the install u need to remove all finger prints at reput them.
works fine but i still hate underscreen ones... when ever my fingers are dry or dirty it wont do anything.. while real finger prints always work even with greas or oil on my fingers still unlocks....

There is one thing. The p8 is global with there bands, can be be used any where, has full huawei support from the main site, and since all that is the case the p8 and the p8 maxx would be there flag ships and get the accessories before any of the other phone will even hope to get them. Thats why I am hoping that a china company makes a cheap version of it and I will bet money they will. The way they are sell these phones. They just have to get rid of a few more screen protectors first, they don't want to get stuck with them if everyone move on over to touchplus protectors. I'd pay 30 to 40 bucks for one.
How does this even work? How does the phone know you pressed buttons off the screen?
I love the idea of more screen real estate!

The software on the phone ( see the Touchplus under your settings ) simply monitors if a signal happened at x location.
Under the touchplus protector there is a micro thin wire going from the front ( where you see the buttons ) to the back ( that touches your screen ).
As you press the button, you create a electric contact with your skin's electricity field, this signal is send to the back of your protector, to the phone where the software picks up this signal on that exact location.
And because the signal is send using a thin wire, its impossible to mistake this with a finger press because our fingers our huge so the location of the electric field is way more massive.

That is pretty impressive to say the least!
I hate on screen buttons as they take away screen real estate. I will definitely be picking one of these up whenever they are available!
I wonder why they didn't just put the buttons down at the bottom of the phone in the first place?
After I have read the complaint about fingerprint sensor problem with plastic case. I figured out the case blocks out the conduction between hand and the metal sides.
Solution: make a conductor on the case with the following method
a. Aluminum foil
b. Metal tape
c. Conductor wire from cable
d. PCB silver paint
The best location to apply is by the bottom-right of the screen.

I'm not getting any fingerprint sensor issue at all with my ringke fusion case on my device. I tap the sensor quickly after turning on the device and it unlocks every time. Where is this fingerprint sensor not reacting to a touch? I can't reproduce it.
I noticed that placing a finger on the screen before attempting to use the fingerprint scanner helps with detection. It's not the best solution but it's been working well for me so far.

Hi,
For me no protection is far better than all other solution (also dom glass)
The general expérience is far better (touch feeling, colour, reflectance,...)
But you need to be more careful with your phone (avoid keys or sands contact and clean it every day with soft Cloth ). For me after 1 month like this I have no scratch or other things.

Hi,
The better I've tested since now is LK screen protector.
No change in colour and touch feeling and also seem to be more protective than OEM one (auto repair scratch).
I try this for 2 days now with an OEM leather case and so far so good the feeling is pretty good in hand (better than hell classical TPU case....) and descent protection .

I m looking and i don t found...
I am using Invisible Shield Ultra Clear and it works great.
I replaced my broken Whitestone with the Mocolo UV nanoptics. It costs about the 1/4 of the Whitestone and it works and feels exactly the same. That means that the fingerprint reader works at about its 85-90% of its original cabability.
Any new cheap glass protectors on the market? I'm looking for something full adhesive edge to edge. FPS compatibility is not too critical but if it works without applying UV glue that would be great.
I ended up avoiding fingerprint unlock because it never works on the first try with my screen protector. That's the only thing I don't like about this device
Been using the apiker film for a week or so, 4 for $10 or whatever. Had an alignement jig, i wasn't super careful about cleaning, should've installed in the bathroom. Works really well, no problem with finger print. There's two spots on each side where it has popped up a little from taking my case on and off a feew times.
Just ordered the johncase tempered from Amazon, has the little uv light, pack of two for $15. See what happens.
My fps works correctly at least 9 times out of 10. I just registered my most frequently used finger, the right thumb, two times. One when it was completely dry and one more time when it was wet. Now I rarely loose a scanning.
https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0848QZ355/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_apa_i_QiPrEbJNMXEYV
Used this screen guard on my Note 10 Lite. After application and ensuring no bubble anywhere near the finger print scanner switched it in.
At the first shot it did not read the prints. However after deleting the stored prints and registering them once again they worked well.
A little extra pressure was required for a good read.
Pressure sensitivity for the SPen was also Ok
Only issue is that it's not an edge to edge screen guard. However I'm ok with it as does not snag onto the edges of the case when taking the phone out for cleaning.
Any case you have ordered for it

I second that it's not possible. Any reasoning behind this?
Has anyone else had a problem with using the sensor after applying the Whitestone glass screen protector? Is there a way to install it to make this better?
You should reregister your fingerprints after installing any screen protector. + you can turn on touch sensivity. (under display settings)
I noticed after going from my Spigen screen protector (had a glass feel but is a soft film) to the Whitestone Dome Glass on my S22 Ultra, I definitely have to press down harder (pretty firmly and no real wiggling of the thumb seems to work best) and use more full on thumb to get it to register properly. It takes ever so slightly longer to register and unlock for me than compared to the Spigen protector, but I do like the Whitestone Dome Glass more overall.
Putting on the WSD had no impact at all on my FP sensor. It was a bit finicky before and exactly the same after. I had found before I put the WSD on that it is 100% perfect every time if I moisten my thumb. Same after the WSD. With a dry thumb, most times it gives me the message "Cover the entire sensor" or "Press harder".
Things I did to help avoid any further degradation after install. During installation, pressed on the sensor area for about 30 seconds after the first cure and just before 2nd cure. Re-register prints after the WSD install. Set touch sensitivity on. Registered my thumb twice. After the install the FPS was exactly the same as before the install so no impact I can see. It is just that this FPS does not like dry prints. Moisten and many people find it works perfectly. I have found that I don't actually have to wet or lick my thumb, just breathing on it once is enough.
Because I generally use face ID to unlock, the FP is not a big deal to me. When I use an app like banking or Google Pay that require FP unlock, I do the breath on the thumb first and it usually works immediately.
4 - Fix Fingerprint ExperienceGo to Settings, Biometrics and security, more biometrics settings:
- Turn off "Show unlock transition effect"
Go to Settings, Biometrics and security, fingerprints:
- Turn on "Fingerprint always on"
- Turn off "Show animation when unlocking"
- Set battery usage to "Unrestricted" for "com.samsung.android.biometrics.app.setting".
- Disable app optimizations for "com.samsung.android.biometrics.app.setting".

Yes, as has been described before, I find just breathing on my thumb is enough to make it work perfectly every time.
A tip I learned a while ago was when I first cure using the uv light and remove it from the jig is to gently press down where the fingerprint scanner is before 2nd curing which in my experience certainly helps.

My first install was a complete dud as the fingerprint scanner didn't work at all, even after registering. I tried pressing down on the scanner on my 2nd install and while it worked better, it still only worked about 30% of the time after registering my prints again.
Unfortunately I'm sending my protectors back to Amazon for a refund as neither install method worked for me.
I guess the powers that be at Android are catching on to this. I just got an unsolicited system message with a few suggestions to make the fingerprint sensor work better. The last one on the list was to "try moisturizing" your fingertip. lol! Guess there is not a software fix for this coming anytime soon.

I personally, can not withstand chipped or cracked screen protectors, as soon as a crack or dent appears, I take the protector off, as it has already worked by absorbing the damage, but that is my opinion…
