Where is the dark theme for contacts? - Google Pixel 3a Questions & Answers

I have dark theme enabled. However, my contacts have a bright white background. Before looking for another contact manager, is there a setting I am missing?

Thanks. I have GrapheneOS and assumed the dialer and settings were the same. I see now that they are not. I have moved over to the Simple Tools Dialer where the default theme is dark.

Off topic, so using an aosip rom, I assume stock camera app does not work. If so, what camera do you use.

Great deep black theme

If your into the deep black themes, this one is great for the Note 5. On the AMOLED display it looks stunning, true deep black hole, not dark grey, or midnight blue, but black as black.
To run this theme, you need two things;
#1: Material Dark theme installed from the Samsung store
#2: Flash this zip in Recovery "Blackery" from this link below;
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347771058
All credit goes to Cambunch on XDA here;

really like this theme............then realized needed root and i'm on verizon.............it would be great to have something like this on the theme store for samsung.
Amazing work @cambunch
what does the drop down notification looks like
i like this theme as well, however, after applying the "blackout" zip, my Gallery app crashes when trying to change the home/lockscreen wallpaper. is this happening to anyone else? i had to revert to a backup i made before installing/flashing the zip. FYI, i'm on Loco's deodexed ROM. thanks.

No its good.
-from galley I can set wallpaper from pic
-from camera app on bottom right can enter into gallery by pressing little picture
-can set wallpaper from long pressing on screen, from both twiz, and nova
- also (and this was more by chance then on purpose) changed theme by means of ultra power saving mode and it changed back to blackey afterwards
I'm patiently waiting for this to hit the theme store.
beautiful theme thanks. every background is black and cyan for icons and settings icons. dropdown menu icons are white.

Dark themes?

I can't find any dark themes....!
Without rooting, does anyone know of any?
It's mainly the notification shade, and dialer that is just too bright. I'm used to the dark dialer on the M7
Dark messaging app would be good too
Cheers
These work for me Andromeda,
textra and simple dialer from play store
Thanks I'll check them out
I was hoping for a theme to apply, through HTC, so no apps to add, or ADB etc (I'm being lazy....!)

Any black conversion themes out there for Pixel 2?

Is there any conversion mods out there that makes the menues (and what not) on our Pixel 2 units into fully black themed colors?
I am asking this just for battery reasons, because we got AMOLED based screen technique and darker colors is better for conserving battery life on this kind of screens.
Anyone?

I use SwiftBlack personally
I use the spectrum theme (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jerbeck24.Spectrum)
Most complete one I know of is Swift Black (or Swift Dark for dark grey instead of pure black). Great Substratum theme updated every 1-2 weeks. There are some issues with notification text on all themes, but Swift makes it tolerable.

Swift black
I tried Swift black and dark themes but couldn't get the notification text to be readable. So I tried AospUI black and dark themes and it's been great! It gets updated every week as well.
Maybe OT but do you use substratum with root or with andromeda? And what are the benefits of either method? Are all themes safe to use or is there anything to pay attention for? Thanks in advance

They have a fix for that now. Alternatively, you can set your wallpaper to be 'dark' in order to force Google's UI to go black, and you'll have no issues at all.

The native dark mode doesn't affect the entire UI the way Substratum does. It leaves notifications and Google apps blindingly white.

Right, the point is that you use the native dark mode in conjunction with SwiftBlack and it results in readable notifications.

I don't know what the high contrast theme need to be installed for. I've been through three or four themes that do not work for oneUI 2.0 & android 10.
That's the advice from people with much more experience than I do. If you don't want to, that's your choice.

The white background is only until you reboot like it tells you to. You also need the system dark theme applied. There's a shortcut in the synergy menu. You also should enable the ace theme option as that seems to be working best so far.
Sent from my SM-G975U1 using XDA Labs
After it installs the theme files apply the "synergy ace theme", then apply "High Contrast Theme", followed by rebooting. After that it should be installed and working.

I give up it just doesn't work. refunded again not going to mess with it. sad thing is I think I paid for synergy and can't use anything.

You are obviously doing something wrong. I'm using liv dark everything is working correctly
I also have all compatible themes, i use different overlays from other themes for certain apps that liv dark does not have.
Did you select your Android version and did you apply common framework correctly everything is correctly themed even Netflix, Spotify, YouTube Vanced.
You need read and closely follow these instructions.
Enable Ace Mode, let the download of high contrast BUT DO NOT APPLY THE THEME.
1 Select desired overlays (some overlays have multiple options which you will have to go into substratum lite and.select the extra option)
2 Once all desired overlays are chose press build in synergy.
3 apply default Samsung theme.
4 apply Synergy Ace theme (10min trial)
5 apply synergy theme
6 reboot
And your theme is done

The op never specified substratum themes. Just themes in general. Yes, the ones mentioned in op are substratum themes, but the thread title is asking what themes work in general. So hex, substratum, themegalaxy, etc are technically relevant.
