Hi there.
I am posting this because I have absolutely no idea what happened to my phone last night.
I watched a couple of YouTube videos before going to sleep. I restarted my phone before I plugged it in - no particular reason, kinda happened by accident. I plugged it in after the phone booted up tho.
For some reason the CPU was working hard all night. It looks like the phone stopped charging once it reached 45 degrees Celsius (or is that a coincidence?). At some point it started charging again, and stopped at around 86%. Why? I am so confused. I really hope a night of battery temperatures between 40 and 50(!) degrees didn't kill my battery life in general now.
I just want to understand what happened lol. Btw couldn't find a process/app that had any significant Stay Awake time! (maybe it reset?)
Cheers
PS I'm on 930W8, PG1, no root or nothing like that, stock rom
Edit: it is also weird that the graphs show WiFi to be active all night. I have it set so that the phone sleeps WiFi when not in use, to save battery in standby. Well I guess it was not in standby lol
I'm wondering if anyone has the issue of the battery care charge not reaching 100% before unplugged. I sleep about the same time and wake up the same time but it always needs longer to reach full capacity, so I unplug the charger and a warning appears that I did before it fully charged. How do I adjust the timing so it's fully charged when I wake up, and not 30 minutes after?
It is supposed to figure that out on its own. I have not seen any way to adjust it manually.
Last night after a couple of hours playing game, i fall asleep accidentally with my game still running.
When i woke up, i saw my phone turn off. I charging my phone then.
When i plug in the cable, the phone start charging at 5%. As for my experience usually when battery drop, it start charging at 0%.
So, it make me think that my phone turn off automatically when battery capacity drop below 5%.
I don't have complain about it. Instead, its a great feature for me who have bad habit.
But i still haven't found how to setting it up.
I want to setting it so my phone will turn off after battery capacity below 10%, not 5%.
So any solution to do that?
I charge my phone to 90% or 80% each night, power off, and go to sleep. The next morning when I power on the battery has dropped 2%. I would appear the phone is doing something when the power is allegedly turned off.
What's happening? Is there actually a way to turn if OFF?
just put it to airplane mode and compare it.
Okay. First I'll do A/M with power on. Battery drops just like at night. I'll do A/M with power off tonight.
and why u not charging overnight
Uh, I don't won't to. It isn't required. I charge it to either 80% or 90%, power off, and go to bed. Why would I want to charge it all night? Last night I put it in airplane mode, charged it to 90%, power off, and went to bed. I turned it on this morning and it was at 88%. I'm just curious what it's doing overnight when it's in airplane mode and supposedly powered off. I don't know that it matters but I've had the phone since August 16th and I got it new.
than get use to it
I'm just curious. I contacted Sony Support today but since my issue isn't really a problem they didn't have much to offer. They were very courteous, though.
2% is "NOTHING" for an overnight drain. Please note that power off/on also consumes considerable power as it puts a load on the processor as it has to unload/load all the processes during that. My Sony phone loses 5% on an average per night and that is completely acceptable as it constantly works in the background (some apps keep refreshing every now and then, I also have poor network reception so that's also a consideration). I'd say: don't sweat too much and your phone's just fine!
On a side note, I also have a Samsung S22 Ultra that has an average 13-15% drain overnight.

Thanks. I wasn't worried as much as curious. Since I don't do games, music videos, or Facebook my battery isn't a worry. Just a curiosity. If I lost 15% in a night with power off I'd wonder if my phone was moonlighting as an Uber driver.
Sometimes I leave my phone not charging overnight because I know it'll be fully charged in like 30mins and I don't want to damage the battery. I would turn it off but for some reason my alarms don't work even when "Shutdown Alarm" is turned on.
So I leave my phone sleeping at 75% and I sleep for like 8 hours. I wake up and it's 45%. And when I look at my battery usage, it's mostly "Cell Standby". Does anyone know how I can fix this? thanks

It's good that >you found< the cause of the battery drain.
Prolonged use of fast charging degrades the battery.
Take A bugreport.
Use BatteryHistorian to Analyse what exactly uses "cell standby".
There could be thousands of different wakelocks.
If you have no Clue.. factory reset is Always a good recommemdation.
