Wow,,,, the touch pro forum is saturated with a wide variety of complaints! Can my fellow xda'ers tell me what is the Touch Pro's universal drawbacks? I know that most consider the screen to be a tad small. I think real user insights are much better than "Professional" reviews.
just sold my omnia and got a Touch Pro
I'm totally happy, this keyboard is awesome!
keyboard is the best, 5 rows including a row for numbers.... excellent.
I don't see that many complaints.
Here are the main problems with the Touch Pro:
!- GPS lags!
2- Camera application is buggy! Slow zoom, touch and focus works only after a dumb picture, after some focuses the auto focus stops to work. I tested it with 3 phones.
4- virtual keyboard(SIP) keeps popping up when using the real keyboard.
3- HTC don't replay to support emails and don't have a ROM update to fix these bugs.

why won't HTC have a ROM update? They offered an update when diamond first came out, I hope they'd offer more updates as TP rolls out in more countries.
100% of that complaint can be fixed with a rom update, those aren't even that many complaints and remember the phone isnt even out yet in the US, most of those complaints originated from users in the US with unlocked european versions that were never meant to be used in the states. Now thats not to say the phone doesn't need work but all those problems could be fixed easily with an update.
I agree that all the complaints could be solved by a ROM update, but I am holding to use it as my primary phone, till a firmware update comes, but I am really disappointed with HTC support.
I am not an USA user...
And I am still using my old P1i as my primary phone, at least the camera works very well, the alarms always work and I don't need to reset it all the time as the Touch Pro.
So maybe the touch pro isn't a fat brick with a tiny screen, a lousy dpad, lagging GPS and half buggy apps? A good keyboard and a high res screen doesn't redeem these issues really.
I sure wish there were something better out there for us. So far a shocking 80% of users are happy.
I am over all very happy with mine, yes it is slow at times and buggy. It will get better over time. My iphone was rubbish I could not restore like I can with my pro. Also having the sat nav is fantastic. I use it purely for emailing, phone and sat nav nothing more and it does them all great.
Well I'm happy with my TP, helped me find this place and managed to pick some great advice and tips up on the way
I think how much you paid greatly affects your satisfaction with the phone. I was very happy with my Fuze, but not happy enough to keep it for the $1,000 I sold it for. When it comes out for $300, it will be well worth the money. It will even be worth the $550 it will sell for without contract with AT&T, but not $1,000.
the mentioned buggy issues in earlier posts are indeed a bit annoying. but overall it is a very nice and goodlooking phone. The keyboard is absolutly brilliant, specialy for me as a former HTC touch user. So, although i am waiting for some updates from HTC, i really am happy with this phone.

Why care for support emails when you have a great device?
Hey jamespaulritter, I've started a thread with most frequently TP issues (and solutions/work-around):

Because TP out of the box has some annoying bugs. And the fix for this issues should come from htc.
I remember reading somewhere that the Earphone volume was very low and an issue. Surprised no one mentions that in this thread.
I am contemplating buying one once it is available in my country but I want to be doubly sure before I buy one because I will be using it as my primary phone.
I would love to hear your experiences.
Most of the problems dissapear when I disabled touchflo, only thing still there is the gps-lag witch is a big problem.........so I am not very happy.
Best Phone I've Ever Owned...can't Wait For The Hd!
I am very happy with my phone overall. All of the performance issues were solved with a few minor tweaks, I know I will find it even better once i get around to loading up a cooked ROM.
GPS does lag, but there seem to be a number of tweaks to help this and personally i find the gps does work, just not that well. My last phone didn't have a gps. Future roms and cooked roms alike will fix these minor issues, the phone hasn't even been out long, give people some time to work with it.

That's definitely a software issue, my Fuze had the AT&T ROM and I can tell you it had no GPS lag at all. It was as good as any GPS unit I've ever used, no less a phone.
hi, I read that google now ("ok google") only activates when the screen is on. I was wondering if theres a hack or setting somewhere where you can activate it with the screen off? I mostly want this for hands-free use in the car, so I can avoid having to touch the phone while driving (big no no).
also, is there a site somewhere explaining all the features of what you can say/ask google now? or even a link with comparisons between siri and google now, and what google now cant do that siri does? I ask this cuz ill be coming from iPhone.
thanks.
I think that would really drain the battery - if possible!
However, here is a collection on some of the commands you can ask google now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961636
I'm really surprised how great it works! And i live in Denmark, where i can't even take full use of everything
samsung has had this with s-voice. and i think motorola enabled google now to do this on the motox but i'm not sure. yes it drains battery, but how much? depends on the cpu and driver and the software involved..... i don't have my nexus yet so i can't say "how" to do this but i would expect it to be an eventual custom feature if not a future update if it's not already in a setting somewhere.

Everything I've read has claimed that the Nexus 5 should handle this as well as MotoX since it has the Snapdragon 800. Have we ever gotten an official answer on why this won't work?

hey thanks for the link. battery drain wouldn't be too much of an issue, as usually I would just use it while the device is being charged in my car, but it would be nice to use sometimes without as well, and while leaving the screen on would be nice, a slow charging car charger, is going to charge faster with the screen off, as that's usually the most power hungry lol. so it would be nice to have the voice activation at will while using.
If some of the launcher/search code was open source, I'd imagine this would be quite easy to do.
Pretty sure I read somewhere that the 'always listening' (for "OK Google" command) requires some hardware functionality. So no, it would not be possible like it is on the Moto X.

i'd imagine you could port parts of the moto x rom into the nexus. things like this have been done before. just have to find all the dependancies.

I mean, if you had access to the facilities used by the n5 launcher source, you could likely utilize them when screen is off via software pretty easily.

Yes. But from what I understand the snapdragon 800 has that hardware built in.

Video is about 1/2 way down on the right. Processor is capable.
Lets see if I can't clear things up. If you want your phone to be always listening, you need hardware support for it unless you want your phone to die in a matter of hours. If you are okay with this , check out this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.RSen.OpenMic.Pheonix It also lets you configure things like only when charging or just when the screen is on to save some battery, and its actually a very nice app overall. Worth checking out.
The Moto x has a special custom chip set that allows for this always listening. Any attempt to port that feature from the Moto x would fail, as the Nexus 5 doesn't have the same chip set. The nexus 5 however, does have hardware that allows for always listening, its part of the Snapdragon 800 SOC that powers this phone, along with the Note 3 and LG G2.
But getting the feature to actually work on our phones, even with the hardware, is by no means an easy task. Read the comments on this post if you want to get an idea for what this entails. https://plus.google.com/112424215551484520138/posts/AznwFxbBapJ
So is it possible? Yes. But it is not something that is gonna be a quick easy port of small modification of an existing app, it would take some real serious work form (maybe a team even of) good Dev's to make this function.
Sorry if its not the news you wanted to hear.

If you're plugged in/wireless charging Google Now Voice commands work with the screen off.
Settings>Language & Input > Voice Input> Enhanced Google services> "OK Google" Detection>From any screen> enabled
"responds to your voice. Works when the screen is on or the device is charging."
make sure the next option "personal results" is also enabled if you want Google Now to be able to do anything
Try this app, Open Mic+. It'll do the job.
On the 6.0 update?
For me...
1. Faster fingerprint reader/unlock animation
2. New keyboard layout
3. Finally having an option to switch to pin code for alternative option if fingerprint isnt working
4. Adjustments on touchwiz
5. Google now on tap
6. New emojis
7.Faster phone ?? (hopefully)
Is speed an issue? My Note5 is smooth and quick. *shrug* Now on Tap is actually pretty cool. I don't use a protective lock screen so I don't know about that. I'd like to be able to activate Samsung Pay with a swipe up from the S-View window, but that won't happen.

Speed is definitely not an issue lol, but there are somethings that need a speed improvement.. such as the fingerprint reader. I just hope i dont see any lag. Im assuming you use Find my mobile? if you dont use a protective lock screen. And i dont use samsung pay or NFC payment for that matter, but i understand your struggle haha.
I could root my device, but i choose not to. Reason being is it will possibly lose value once Knox has been tripped.

I do use Find my Mobile but I also use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rickclephas.fingersecurity to lock certain apps. It only locks those apps when I am not connected to my WiFi or my cars Bluetooth. Maybe with the new fingerprint API I'll lock the whole phone up.
I also noticed when watching marshmallow beta for s6/s6 edge is that the capacitive buttons dont light up when touching the screen... which is a smart move from samsung. It saves battery and it makes sense. It only lights up when pressing them or when pressing the home button.

Actually it makes no sense, whatsoever. The entire point of the capacitive buttons lighting up when you touch the screen is so you can see them in the dark in order to press them.. lighting up when you touch them makes zero sense, why would I need them to do THAT?

They didn't light up because it was a Beta and the rooted kernel broke it even more on some devices, but made them work better on other devices. There's also mods you can use to just turn them off if you don't like them. Xposed. Or just go into the settings!!!
Also, just because you don't like them being on, doesn't mean that they are pointless. Tests have also been done to see just how much battery life is affected by Capacitive buttons and you can't even tell how much they use.
By the way, a lot of people like myself, work in dark places and have to use our phones. Think about that for a minute.:good:
The only thing I'm looking forward to is a phone that doesn't get an update and have it cause the phone to be worse than before. Right now my stock Note 5 works just fine.

Hi guys,
I have a flip cover that doesn't work with my mate7 lt10, when I lock it I have only the default wallpaper (magazine) with the digital clock, I can only answer or reject incoming calls.
My phone is running under the b331.
Can someone help me out please
If it looks like my attached screenshot then that's just how it looks
This is something that really bugs me as well.
Huawei has gone through the trouble of implementing the smart cover feature, but it has literally two (from what I can tell) features: Answering calls and controlling music, as long as said music is coming from the stock music player.
I would love to see my notifications on the smart panel, have some toggles on there and maybe even a calendar or something. But no, Huawei disappoints once again.
Yeah, I know what you mean bud, I'm equally disappointed in it. Maybe if this post gets enough attention from people requesting same then we could send it to Huawei as a features request.
Although, me being one of the few people that haven't jumped into the MM beta, I'm not sure if it might be something they're already bringing forward to the new OS?

I highly doubt it. Huawei is notorious for not really giving a damn and just going forward. Plus, if we were to request it and they actually agreed on adding new features it would certainly delay the release of the official MM update even more.
I've just abandoned my "smart cover" altogether and just go about with the phone in its naked state.:good:
Thank you, cause i discoverd that i can also use the flip cover for music

it has only clock and music player. music player is active all the time though unlike on lollipop. there is no background, just silver color with circular clock in it. the circle's border fills as the time passess. this is how it looks.

Hello guys!
I purchased this from China and realise I cannot change the language to english. And also having to use the China Version of Android Wear. Is there any way to flash and change the system language or change to global android wear 2.0?
I have my eyes on this too and would like to know myself!
On the original it looked fairly straightforward, hopefully it is on this one too...
You don't have to use android ware 2.0 chinese version. I have global version installed on my iPhone and have successfully connected to huawei watch 2. I could enable Feed and sync calendar cards, email cards etc.

I don't want to risk flashing HW1 firmware on this.
BTW, is it possible that the developer preview for Huawei Watch 2 will also be available to the public? Is it also possible to just ask Huawei for the files and flash it myself?
They provided a QR which helped me download the Android Wear Chinese Version but it still shows the text in Chinese even if the language in my phone is set to English. Are you saying that there is an Android Wear China App (com.google.android.wearable.app.cn) which can make the HW2 text in English? I think I could live with that for now, else I'll just wait for the English Version before using this daily...
(I can't post the actual link from the QR code, but it's just from VMall dot Com)

you are right, better not risk to flash other ROM, just wait a bit, developers will give us all we need. I am waiting too.... the 2nd gen is simply... a toy watch. The original one would seem sustain better.
But my last concern would be battery, will the 2nd gen last much longer than the first one?

Nice is not what people say it is, is what you really like, this is for all things, always.
in second, if you dont mind to spend a lot (my personal opinion) in a watch that was out on 2015 is ok, but 2thgen is better in performances, pixels, ram, battery and so on.
I have apple watch steel ($$$$$$) that is perfect for iphone owners(me), huawei 1th gen, good for sure and really nice, now time to try something more powerfull and also price is finally "real".
anyway, as I say, up to you.
battery is a bit better than 1thgen cause is bigger but not that much, depend on how you will use it, gps and gyro for exaple are consuming a bit, but it will be not a problem for you cause 1th gen have not gps....
by the way, why you are care about version? you are in HK you should find international version too. I always buy my phones there, all international.

The international version in HK will usually cost at least 40% more than that in China. That's the only reason.
On second thought, I am getting an Huawei 2 despite the Huawei 1 is much more appealing and better build quality. In any way it is a tech toy. The battery should sustain no longer than 3 years and it worths nothing by then. So keeping the toy with latest techology would be a good choice.
under what circumstances you can use the china watch except using it as an digital watch?
Almost all app are incompatible. Not even the spotify. Only those happened to be in the Huawei app store will run.

I most case I were not able to get the app running, either with the start up screen or just without data connection (in app). I cannot see gmail there as well which I need most. Skype wont connect as well.. though I dont use it much.
BTW, I am in HK and therefore I am not inside the GFW.
